What to expect
  • Viator Exclusive: Game of Thrones Tour in Split (3.5 Hours) Head to the ancient and fascinating Diocletian’s Palace in the center of Split to meet your guide. Then, take a short drive to Klis Fortress, a two-millennia-old fort that played a part in Game of Thrones: it was the fictional city of Meeree. The fortress served as a buttress between the Ottoman and Mediterranean cultures, and has been the seat of many Croatian kings. In its 2,000 year history, the site has been lost, won and reconquered many times. Learn from your guide how Daenerys Targaryen attacked the city, and visualize the fight between Meereen’s champion and Daenerys’ chosen champion: Daario Naharis. Later head back to Diocletian’s Palace and see where certain GoT scenes were shot. Explore the famed throne room, and step down into the cellars to see the same spots where slaves plotted  with the Unsullied Army and Grey Worm to defeat their masters. Your Dubrovnik walking tour ends outside the palace. And, if you’re continuing on for the second portion of the tour, you’ll recommence in Dubrovnik on a later day.  Viator Exclusive: Game of Thrones Walking Tour in Dubrovnik (3 Hours) When you arrive in Dubrovnik, meet up with your local guide just outside Pile Gate and begin an on-foot tour of GoT sites inside the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Old Town.  Wander around the romantic Old Town streets to see where certain scenes were filmed, including those involving the Targaryens — a noble family banished from the city of King’s Landing when Robert Baratheon claimed the Iron Throne. Then, visit the spots where Ayra Stark dwelled on the streets after battles erupted between the Starks and the Lannisters. Move on to the awesome and imposing city walls that were attacked by the Baratheons in Series 1. Then go check out Lovrijenac Fortress, which starred in many scenes of conflict. From the top of the fort, look down at make-believe Blackwater Bay, and try to conjure up images of the fierce Battle of Blackwater: the largest battle in the War of the Five Kings. Next, head to several parks that were used to film various scenes out in the countryside.  The tour finishes not far from where it began. If you chose to go on the walking tour of Dubrovnik first, your Split tour will take place on another day. Upgrade Option Including Trsteno Arboretum (5.5 Hours) Upgrade the tour to see yet another Game of Thrones filming spot. When the walking tour concludes, board a minibus and travel north of Dubrovnik for about 30 minutes to Trsteno Arboretum, which was used as the palace gardens in the city of King’s Landing. Viator Exclusives combine unique experiences and great deals — from traditional tours to once-in-a-lifetime experiences — and are not available from other 3rd-party online sellers.

Incredible Tour for Game of Thrones Lovers
Aug 2018 • Couples
For all you Game of Thrones fans I highly recommend you participate in the Dubrovnik Upgraded Tour + Split. I have read all the Game of Thrones books and seen every episode multiple times. My tour guides were very enthusiastic and very informative about the TV show. They incorporate the local history of Croatia and insights into the characters personal lives during the tour.

I loved the tour and it was the highlight of my vacation during my 3 week holiday in Europe. My tour in Dubrovnik was a large group but on the option to do the 2nd part outside the city was very small. I recommend the entire tour in both Dubrovnik and Split.

Was so so much fun seeing the cities, and seeing how GOT was filmed there. Warning tho, i hurt my foot very badly while on the tour because the Split sideways are so so bad. be careful people. I had a super mom from northern california on our tour, who had first aid with her and she saved my toe which had been cut in half. I made it home cause she came to my rescue... thanks

SPOILER ALERT: They don’t transfer you between Split and Dubrovnik.
Sep 2017 • Couples
See how I just gave you that heads up? I wish the tour operators did the same thing. The marketing of this tour is focused on the value proposition of the “Combo Tour! Save Money!” but no one tells you upfront that you’re responsible for transporting yourself between those two cities. I get it, some ppl figure it out, but I bet the majority of the ppl who respond to this tour don’t read the fine print and find out later that they can only do either, and end up forfeiting the other part of the tour. I checked all three of my emails, and the mentioned of “self transfer” was not upfront. I feel like this is a bit of a misleading offer. I travel often and most (if not all tours) that advertise such a package often include the transfer between the two locations. Omitting that transfer or not making it blatant and upfront seems like “shifty marketing” that capitalizes on tourist who trust these tour companies. I did the tour anyways and it wasn’t bad but it still left a very bad feeling that i was being ripped off. I wish the tour had offered to give me a partial refund but no such thing happened.

Hi Steven, thank you for your comments however we have to explain several issues that you pointed. FIRST: Inclusions Transport by air-conditioned vehicle in Split Local guide Entrance fees Exclusions Food and drinks Gratuities (optional) Hotel pickup and drop-off Transport between Dubrovnik and Split This is written on Viators page under Important info. SECOND: Our customer service send you an answer in which we pointed again that transfer is not included. 27 Aug 2017 17:33 Dear Steven, thank you for booking with us. Please advise which date you prefer for Split (both are available) and which for Dubrovnik tour, thank you. Please note, transfer from Split to Dubrovnik and back is not included. Kind regards, Ivana THIRD: You received voucher from us in which are, again, written all inclusions and exclusions. We stand at point that everything is clearly stated on Viators pages without any "shifty marketing". Kind regards, Ivo
