About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 351sheilak0 contributionsOlive Museum 10/10This museum's staff are amazing. Very knowledgable and accommodating. They go the extra mile to ensure you have a good experience. Buy your lavender oil at their store so you know it is authentic, good price too. The reasonable entrance fee also gets you into KLS castle which was also very enjoyable and another Game of Thrones location. (Bus leaves KLS castle and goes right in to Split). The museum dining room can only accommodate a limited number of people. Would have loved to have ate there! These Canadians thank the staff for an unexpected great experience!Written November 4, 2024
- Y3115VRleek0 contributionsGreat tourBeautiful place and lovely gardens. Great educational experience regarding olives. From growing to production and the difference in labeling. Really enjoyed it.Written September 17, 2024
- d_borahg2670 contributionsAmazing piece of Croatian tradition, wonderful food and kindnessHighly recommendable. Amazing food for a good price and very interesting visit to further understand Croatian tradition. Fantastic shop full of high quality products for you or for gifts. We felt very welcomed by all the staff. They are so kind! Thank you for a fantastic Croatian experience!Written July 20, 2024
- E4085XSamandaw0 contributionsPeacefulWent here from a cruise ship including Kastela district. Lovely, peaceful place. Had an olive oil tasting and a lovely lunch in a traditional courtyard consisting of two cheese, tapenade, fig cake, plum cake and wine. Afterwards we saw the distillation process, went into the museum (wish we had had longer there), walked around the beautiful gardens and went in the well-stocked and reasonably priced shopWritten July 8, 2024
- rachelmT2608UB0 contributionsOlive Museum and Tasting ExperienceStaff very welcoming and friendly. Extra virgin olive oil has been the best we have ever tasted and we will certainly be bringing back some to share with our family and friends. We paid €17 for olive oil tasting experience however we were left disappointed as only lasted 30 minutes with sampling two of the facilities products. We would recommended just buying ticket for museum as you can sample all products on local shop. We do recommend however feel that olive oil experience should have been more special for money paid. We also were looking forward to having lunch here but were told we could not be seated for an hour+ due to a group lunch sitting. Again, we feel disappointed with this experience.Written June 3, 2024
- Departure106168093390 contributionsWe’d live there if we couldThe grounds are beautiful. The museum is graphically beautiful and educational. Products at the shop are top notch. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We also ate at the little restaurant there and the food and atmosphere was incredible - one of our favorite places on the globe. We would buy a house there if we could.Written May 7, 2024
- joliel1360 contributionsFantastic place, incredible food - get the ice cream!!A fun surprise after our visit to Klis! There was a lot of love and care put into the museum, the garden, and the food was absolutely incredible - highly recommend the ice cream with orange sage and olive oil.Written April 18, 2024
- LokiLaaLaa0 contributionsBest attraction near SplitWe took the bus to get there from Split. It is well signposted and only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Absolutely fantastic place. Greeted very warmly by Kristof who took us on a tour which was very interesting and informative. Lovely botanical gardens, interesting museum and a huge shop full of well priced gifts to take home. The restaurant is in a delightful courtyard. The olive oil cake is a must and absolutely delicious.Written October 14, 2023
- meginiowa0 contributionsEducational, fun, and deliciousWhat a wonderful experience. We had a cooking glass and enjoyed a meal of Croatian foods in the courtyard, along with local wines. The olive museum is very educational. The tastings were educational as well. I would definitely recommend visiting Stella Croatica.Written October 5, 2023

- Jermaine S0 contributionsTHE Most Unbelievably Wonderful Hidden GemFollowing the advice of our friend, we visited the Olive Museum after touring Klis Castle, since admission for both is included in a single ticket. Not only did we learn some very important things about Olive Oil (maybe the only information I’ve ever retained from an actual museum tour), we were in for a totally unexpected treat when we visited their on-campus village for lunch. First of all, the village itself was romantic and beautiful. You have to see it to believe it. My wife instantly said, “I want to live here!” The staff were warm & welcoming, and the lunch menu was an EXCELLENT value for the meal & experience. The Mediterranean Gold is now my all-time favorite cocktail, and we’ll never forget their pillow-soft gnocchi. At the end, the Olive Museum and Stella Croatica team earned a place in our hearts, and the visit ended up being one of our Top 5 memories from our first trip to Croatia. We would do it again and again and again!Written July 5, 2023

Had a combined ticket for Stella Croatica and the Klis Fortress. Stella Croatica consisted of an interesting description of how olives are harvested / how olive oil is made etc - this took about 20-30 minutes. Then on to the gift shop which had lots of nice chutneys / oils / cosmetics etc. The quality is good, but the prices are high. And be warned - Stella Croatica products are also available in the duty free section of Zadar airport, and the bottle of oil that cost 15 euros in the gift shop is 9 euros in duty free.

Dear mikeyorkshire2017,
Thank you for deciding to write a review following your recent visit to Stella Croatica.
Since all our products are hand-produced and hand-packed at the property by local women, using only finest local ingredients, the prices of those can not be set on the lower scale.
However, majority of the products in the Concept store can be combined using special offer, such as 2+1 free or 3+1 free, making the purchase of the souvenirs more convenient.
We do sell some of our products at duty-free shop at certain airport, but we have nothing to do with their price politics. Sometimes when the summer season nears its end, they tend to lower down the prices a lot in order to sell all the products before winter break, which might be the reason for the lower prices. Also, at the airports one does not have the option of mix&match for the products as is offered in our Concept store.
Best regards,
Stella Team

Visiting here was a highlight of my trip to Split. I arrived early (on the 22 local bus from the city bus station) but I was welcomed by the lovely Dragica who was happy to chat to me about the family, the place and their history. My guide around the museum and gardens was informative and funny, he brought the place to life and shared a lot about the local area. The smell of sweets being made and herbs in the garden was amazing and all the tasting samples in the shop too. Thank you to the team for being so kind and to Andreas for helping me get to the fortress afterwards.

Our ticket price for Klis Forfress included a ticket to the Olive Oil museum at Stella Croatica. We went to lunch at their restaurant after our visit to Klis. The lunch was great, really beautiful surroundings, and lovely server who gave me two portions of the homemade cake with rosemary and lavender. It was delicious! Thank you!!!

We decided to do this tour at the last minute and we're so happy we did! The fortress location is interesting and the self-guided tour was easy to follow . Bring comfortable shoes, a hat or unbrella for sun shade and water - it was hot!
The olive museum was so interesting and the gift shop was perfect for buying tasty (and pretty) souveneirs that seemd a notch above than what you see in the town.

We are glad you decided to go for this tour after all!
The Klis fortress is really worth exploring, while Olive museum indeed provides numerous tasting and exploring options, which makes this combo option perfect while in Split area.

The olive museum was bigger and better than I'd expected. Firstly a quick tour through the factory and then a museum explaining how olive oil is made before ending in the shop where various different products were available for testing/tasting (cosmetics, oils, sweets, honey etc). It's all very nicely done. We headed to the onsite Tavern for a very authentic Adriatic lunch in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended a few hours to be spent here.

Hubby, 13 year old son and I all spent a great hour and a half here. We experienced a fascinating educational tour about harvesting and processing olives, lavender and figs, a small museum, a sizeable garden with hundreds of individually named edible plants, a cafe and shop. The gift shop is amazing as there are many opportunities to try free samples of the excellent wide range of foods which our teenager was really enthusiastic about. I'm not a keen shopper anywhere but even I couldn't stop myself buying a bag full of goodies to take home despite there being no pressure from staff to make a purchase.
If travelling by bus, there are a range of options which Google Maps shows. We arrived by number 22 bus from Split which passes both the Klis fortress and the olive museum. As the 22 buses are infrequent, we took the number 80 bus back to Split. Walking between the fortress and the Olive Museum is just over a mile and there is a choice of two roads, with the higher one being more of a stony track with no traffic but better views.

Beautiful place! We have found this one spontaneously. We didn’t expect the attractions of Olive museum and Kliss Fortress to be that good. The temperature was FRYING of 36•C . At the Olive Museum we have been told so many great facts of how to recognise proper extra virgin oil. The shop at the place is PHENOMENAL! Loved it so much! All the produce is hand-made, thoroughly prepared and checked in the lab next to the whole lot.
We spend some €€€ but I believe it was worth it! Ahhhh, felt blissful and refreshing! Kind of “boujee” experience 😁 Restaurant not to be forgotten! Food was spectacular- very delicious, waitress staff was well acknowledged of the menu , recommendations were given to us. Availability of swapping menu options eg: rather than having a traditional cake we swapped it for ice cream- it was blinking hot! 🌡️
Please see the pictures! These speak for themselves 🌴

Dear Julka P,
It is with delight that we read your review, thank you for taking the time to write it!
We are glad to have been always to exceed your expectations and to have provided such a memorable experience through our guided tour and traditional lunch in our tavern. Usually the best time for a visit is in May, June or September, when the temperatures are not that high and the gardens are absolutely amazing.

We toured the fortress and enjoyed it. The views of Split from here were awesome. We happened to notice a sign for the olive museum, then found out we should have been given tickets to it when we went to the fortress. No matter, just glad we found the olive museum. Our host there pointed out all they had done, and it was incredible. There is a restaurant in the loveliest setting but unfortunately we had just eaten elsewhere so had to pass on dining there, too bad. The botanical garden was well marked and maintained, and the museum itself very well done. A lot of love and hard work went into this complex. And of course, the gift shop, which allowed numerous tasting opportunities--I wish TSA would lighten up and let us take bottles of the liquid onto the plane. There are labs onsite not open to the public, but you get the sense that this is serious business for them, as it should be. I'm so glad we spotted the sign along the road; otherwise we would have missed this great stop. Keep up the good work!

Dear durraej,
Thank you for an amazing review!
We are so glad you actually noticed the sign pointing to the Olive museum, came here and enjoyed the experience so much. The most important thing for us is to see that you realized how much love and effort has been invested into this project, which provides a chance to explore Dalmatia's tradition in one single place.
We will definitely keep up with the good work, since every year we are upgrading the experience for our visitors.
Best regards,

The tour of the Olive Museum was interesting but a little rushed. The guide didn't even wait until the whole group was together to continue his information. He wanted to go quickly to bring us to the store... in short the place is nice but not so convinced by the guided tour.
On the other hand, the products are great but you have to pay €8 to really taste the products, which is a shame!
Subsequently, the visit to the fortress, supposed to be audio guided, is not! Not convinced by the experience but the view of the castle is beautiful! Damage.

Dear 843oceaneh,
Thank you for writing a review following your recent visit to Stella Croatica.
We feel sorry that you felt the tour to have been on the shorter side. All our guided tours last around 30 minutes, with us paying attention to weather conditions and shorten the part of the tour outside if it is extremely hot, like it was in the period you visited us.
We have to respectfully correct your statement that one needs to pay 8 EUR to taste our products, since it is simply not true! With the entrance ticket from Klis fortress, every visitors gets a guided tour of the estate and tasting of all the available products at the Concept store for FREE.
Also, I do not know where did you read that you were supposed to receive an audio guide for Klis fortress, since they simply do not have them?
Best regards,
Stella Team
