About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kerrinaj0 contributionsNature experts that bring Lake Gatun to lifeFirst our guide Ariel was so knowledgeable. I leant a lot about Panamanian nature from monkey families to the great bird spotting. We got up and close to the monkeys and were able to feed. Definitely a top recommendation from me. You don’t just get to experience sloths but also butterflies and dart frogs.Written November 30, 2024
- Stay174086531490 contributionsFamily zipline adventureThis was a wonderful experience! The guides are friendly, highly professional, and very focused on safety. The ziplines vary in terms of length, height and speed. Do also visit the resort, and also the sloth resort (which also has frogs and butterflies) and even stay a night if you can! Reserve your experience directly through the resort to save a lot of money. Show up at the zipline place or the resort activities desk ahead of time, pay and get your bracelet. Best to book for the morning in the rainy season as it tends to rain in the afternoon. There is a locker where you can keep your valuables.Written August 1, 2024
- Tyler B0 contributionsGreat trip and great tour! This was a fantastic way to get outside of the city and see more of the beautiful country of Panama. Ricardo was an awesome guide and shared a lot about the history, the culture, and some great humor. They confirmed with us the night before, were promptly on time (Miguel was a great driver), and we had an awesome day. Would highly recommend!Written July 31, 2024
- andyk3990 contributionsI can ...canoeSecond visit in 5 years and just as good. Yes, it is a sort of living museum but not the least detrimental. Ride along the river in a canoe then a long visit. Great fun.!!Written June 5, 2024
- Jaeda F0 contributionsHi from Sf Ca!Unforgettable. It rained but it was so peaceful with the on and off showers. Unfortunately we didn’t get to zip the last 2 lines due to lightning but the people are beyond welcoming, friendly, and helping. I adored the rainforest and the views from above. Ariel was awesome too. Very insightful about Panama history and very welcoming person as a whole. Highly recommended! Thank you!Written May 15, 2024

- I5512XVdianar0 contributionsGreat TourGreat tour! Out tour guide Ariel was great, the car was air conditioned and comfortable (not like other tours I’ve experienced) we did not see as many monkeys we had hoped for. At times it did feel as though different tours were competing for the monkeys to come to the boat. They call them over by whistling. I am assuming the monkeys after a while are no longer hungry with so many tourists coming and going! I enjoyed the sloth sanctuary and overall enjoyed the experience.Written May 1, 2024
- stephaniegQ4280IQ0 contributionsIt was a long day but we saw some good wildlife out on the lake.It was nice to see the wildlife out on the lake. We needed a lot of patience but finally saw a sloth, capuchin monkey, bats, and a crocodile. The sloth sanctuary was a waste of time. Despite the photos, there is no touching the sloths. Would have preferred to go back to the ship after the lake. Our guide, Alberto, was very nice and knowledgeable.Written April 14, 2024
- Mary Frances M0 contributionsexcellent adventure. great for teens.we combined this with monkey island. juan and the entire day was fantastic. lots of monkeys, sloths and great zip lining. it was my 13 year old niece’s favorite excursion!.Written April 1, 2024
- 705brianas0 contributionsViewing the various species of animals from the alligators to the poisonous frogs from the monkeys to the sloths, ShipsI got to see everything I wanted to see and the guide was great, very knowledgable and friendly. Seeing the wildlife from the water is the best way to get a close up look. Would do it again.Written March 24, 2024
- raygo0 contributionsTouristy tribeThe dugout canoe trip was fun and lovely, and the village was interesting. We had the feeling, though, that the tribe exists for tourists to buy merchandise, and that the "authentic" dances were not so authentic. The children were delightful, and the scenery was outstanding. So, overall, a good but not superior experience.Written March 22, 2024
- T-Cozee0 contributionsExcellent Wild Life Tour from the City for Photographers & Nature LoversI spent a week in Panama and did one tour each day from Monday to Friday. This tour was my last on Friday and was the perfect way to end the week. The pickup from the hotel was on-time and Albertos is a very experienced and knowledgeable tour guide who made sure to provide of with lots of information throughout the journey. This tour was part car, part boat and part walking all at a nice pace so you didn’t feel rushed. We saw monkeys (up close), caiman, sloths, butterflies and frogs among others. Tip: the hotel where you stop first to use the bathroom sells laminated bird, mammal, and butterfly guides for $15 each. Be sure to buy some before heading out so you’ll have a reference especially for the bird watching walk through the area near the hotel after the visit to the butterfly and frog exhibits. These also make nice souvenirs. If I visit Panama again I will definitely look into staying at the Gamboa hotel in the reserve area to do more bird watching.Written February 16, 2024
- Neale18100 contributionsGreat day away from the cityWe only had 2 days in Panama and decided to spend one exploring the city and the other in the countryside. This seemed to be the best tour as we really wanted to see some sloths as well as Monkey Island. We were picked up from our hotel at 0730 and were the only ones on the tour on that day. Erica was our guide and Derek the driver. Erica was really bubbly and very passionate about her job and gave us a great commentary throughout. We visited Monkey Island on a 1.5hr boat ride - we saw 3 different types of monkey and turtles, bats and iguanas. It was also great to see the route of the Panama Canal and passed a large cargo ship on the way back from Monkey Island. We then explored the Sloth Sanctuary and Butterfly park which was educational- great to see Sloths - even though they were mostly asleep. Got back to our hotel after 5 hrs.Written February 3, 2024
- TwinCreek0 contributionsNot quite what we hoped forWe were with a land-tour group of 14 and boarded a small outboard boat that was majorly listing as it sped up over the lake. Leaning caused my back and others to start aching just in an effort to sit straight. The pilot should have repositioned passengers to balance out the weight; or, fixed the boat. Our "naturalist" guide Medaline, who is an indigenous, was great. She explained what we were seeing around the lake and used specific calls (as well as app) to alert animals to come to shore to be fed and for us to see. The first island we stopped at had a crocodile sliding back into the water. It appears the islands we visited were the same ones other tour boats visit, and the animals know they will be fed so are in the vicinity upon arrival. We saw a black howler monkey, white face monkey, capuchin monkey, a few lizards a couple of birds. My husband briefly saw a toucan. The ride on the lake was pleasant other than the bad listing of the boat. No bugs. Tip: Don't sit near rear of boat as gas and exhaust fumes are bad. And strongly ask that the boat be rebalanced rather endure an uncomfortable ride around the lake. The sloth sanctuary is where the handler is feeding a sloth, which was cool. Another sloth was curled up in a blanket high up. We did not see one up close. We actually saw a sloth in the tree near the entrance of the exhibit as we were leaving. The butterfly and frog exhibit were interesting.Written January 31, 2024
- catherineaA7961VU0 contributionsAmazing experienceMonkey Adventures was a pleasure to work with! We booked two excursions with them for our trip back in November. Booking was very easy and Alejandro was responsive and helpful. We visited Monkey Island, Panama Canal and the Aerial tram & Rainforest. Our tour guide, Juan, was so knowledgeable and passionate about Panama. He was our tour guide for both of the excursions. We were elated when he picked us up the second time because we knew our tour was going to be another great one!! We recommend Monkey Adventures to everyone whenever we discuss our Panama trip. They will not disappoint!Written January 25, 2024

I'm a frequent visitor to Panama and have done several tours in the city. This private tour with OLIVER was by far the best, friendliest, and most informative tour ever. I learned so much that I've educating Panamanians about their city and history. Oliver is personable, super informed and generous with his time and knowledge. I highly recommend booking this and ask for OLIVER.

Oliver was knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted to see and do. He knew exactly when ships were going through the locks at the canal so we made good use of our time. Excellent afternoon!
