Not a top 5 best tour we have ever had.
We did 4 days of activities. The tour guide on the first two days was super nice but I call it the Instagram tour.

We had two tours with this agency.
The first one,was the visit of Panama canal and old city. Our guide - young lady who’s name I cannot remember- spoke perfect english and had tones of energy the whole day. We started at 8:30 and returned at 4:30. She explained everything about the canal, gave us a lot of info on the country’s history, took us to lunch and finally to the city. She was a good driver too. We had a great time with her and we thank her for an unforgettable tour. If you can please let me know her name. Tell her about the greek song “telia”
The second tour was to San Blas islands and the driver was also vey kind and very good on the road. It was a long drive but he made it rather easy for us. Thank you.

The tour guide is a very nice, energetic person however the tour itself was misleading. There was no “food” tasting except for snacks. We begin the tour with some coffee and chocolate, then proceeded to a beer tasting with one flight that we had to share amongst three people. We were so hungry at this rate, we had to order our own food to soak in the beers. We then walked to the fish market where we were served cerviche (I’ve had better cerviche). We ended the tour with rum which was a single pour (half shot) of rum. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend doing this tour especially if you haven’t eaten.

Not misleading at all if you read the discription.. we sample 5 products made in Panama.. there is even a video as CNN filmed the tour.. so, if you were 'mislwad' maube you just werent paying attention! I give you a 3 out of 5 as well ...haha

We've been on many food tours around the world. This tour definitely featured quality over quantity. The geisha coffee and rum alone were worth the price. Having it explained and traveling with our guide made for a wonderful evening. I love the shows Feed Phil, or Stanley Tucci that show you the foods of the country, the part you miss by just going where they go is the connection with the people. I do food tours for the history and information. So while I didn't love the beer at La rana Darado, I did love hearing about the 10% that goes the research to save the frog. Great experience!

I was a bit disappointed in this tour. There just wasn't much food. We started with a coffee and shared a chocolate bar in the ATH coffee shop. Then, we shared a flight of beer at a brew pub and each had one glass of our favorite.

Then, we walked to the fish market, the three of us each split 3 styrofoam cups of ceviche. The tour concluded with a rooftop rum tasting, which I skipped because I was more interested in trying local Panamanian food than day drinking.

At minimum, there should have been 4 legitimate food stops, not 1 (I don't count the chocolate bar). I've done "taste of" tours before, and I never left one hungry until now.

Ok So, we have a tour discription and we have a video (as seen on CNN) that sjowd you what we sample.. the fact that you skipped 1 of the things and yoy dont count 1 of the things doesnt mean they were not there.. this seems like a pretty unfair review to me.. If you can read , see or hear (discription/video) you would have known exactly what the tour includes.. so, if it was a surprise like this silly reviews indicates or you choosr not to try or count things included, its on you.. so, this review says a LOT more about you that the tour amd now you will be one of those famous people we talk about while on the tour having fun like we do!

We had an excellent guide on this tour. Janet first showed us the art of coffee making at the American Trade Hotel. We got taste the nice Geisha coffee and chocolate. Then we headed to the Fish Market and had the wonderful ceviche and beer there. We also toured Casco Viejo and tasted craft beer and ended up at the rooftop bar tasting the famous Rum there. We ended up staying at the rooftop bar since it has a great view of Casco Viejo. Great tour!

Having been on a lot of food tours, I would rate this among the worst. While the guide (Gerardo) was reasonably nice and well spoke in English, he did not know when to stop talking. 75% of his talk was not about food and too much about him.

The three hour tour, could have lasted 30 minutes without the non-food chatter.

Went to a bar and he explained beer as if it was a rare drink. He split 3 ounce samplers 4 ways to taste less than an ounce of beer.

The only food, a few ounces of ceviche, was the only substantive food, other than a sample of chocolate.

Bad value, boring, and not educational at all.

Family
Our family of four did two tours through Barefoot in November 2018.

Our first was the Partial Canal tour. Be aware that only one company can take you through the canal and therefore your booking is sub contracted. That being said we received detailed instructions about place and time the day before, exactly as we had been told. It is best to take an Uber to the location. We were confused by Google maps which said we needed to to a ferry!!!!!! NOT TRUE!!!! There is a road all the way to the marina.
Do not hesitate to take this tour. It is very interesting and very scenic. Probably a once in a lifetime journey. The boat is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and lunch are served along with beverages. All in all makes for a very pleasant experience. It was the most organized tour we have ever been on (and we have been on many!!!). Well worth getting up early!!!

Our second tour was the Food tour through the old town in Casco Viejo. It was hosted by Teresa and Kevin. Again, excellent organization, very knowledgeable guides, good food and drink and some excellent companions. We all had a very enjoyable time and extended our stay for a while at the rooftop bar!!!!

When in Panama City, please do not hesitate to use Barefoot, you will not be disappointed.
Thanks for two excellent days!!!

I was a bit skeptical at our guide at first since Ross is not born and raised in Panama, but right away he proved to be very well informed in all aspects of Panama. He has studied up on the historical and cultural aspects of Panama, and since he has lived in Panama a number of years, he takes pride in being a resident of Panama and keeps up with current issues. He even goes the extra mile to promote local Panamanian growers and to have visitors try the best Panamanian products out there.

When we walked into the meeting place, we saw that Ross had already set up our table with local chocolate and coffee. As we tasted the products, we were introduced to the locally produced items. Ross was very informative about other flavors and types of products made by the same companies. Our next stop was the brewery to sample several types of beers. The many samples placed in small glassware were arranged on a wooden ship. It was very original and appropriate for an old port town feel. We chose our favorite and toasted to a start of a wonderful visit. Next, we talked about Panama's old towns and pirates as we strolled to our next destination and savored different types of fresh ceviche. Our last stop was the top floor of a restaurant which is known for its changing displays of local art work. With our guide's many years of connections, we were led to a prime spot at an open air bar with a gorgeous view of the city!

Amazing taste of Old Town (Casco Viejo) with an experienced guide who is super friendly and takes care of all of the details so you are free to take in the unique experiences. An excellent guide and a wonderful intro to Panama. Definitely recommend!

We had a great time with our tour guide, Gonzo. The food tour is a tasting tour, so note that you'll get some of each - coffee, chocolate, cevice, beer and whiskey - but you'll probably still be hungry at the end. The rooftop site where we ended was a beautiful place to see the city at night. Overall, we'd do it again.

This tour is a must-do while in Panamá City for those who are curious about the country’s rum, coffee, culinary and chocolate traditions. The ceviche is out of this world!
