- joanne40201800Panama Canal and Town TourPanama is a beautiful country and it’s history is very interesting. The trip to the canal was awe inspiring. The ingenuity and engineering which goes into the operations of the canal is quite impressive. My tour lasted about 7 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and a joy to talk to. In addition to the canal I visited the town Casco Viejo. This is a lovely town whose buildings remind me of New Orleans. I was able to have lunch in town at a delightful restaurant whose food was absolutely delicious. I also visited some cathedrals with beautiful stained glass windows and altars the likes of which I have never seen. The tour also included other sites but the town and the canal are what stood out to me. The tour is both a walking and driving tour and there was so much to see and enjoy. I had no problems booking with Barefoot Panama. My guide was very accommodating and personable. He was on time for the tour and always sought to make me as comfortable as possible and ensure that I was okay. He was the best tour guide I have experienced.
- odilesj100Barefoot Tours/KevinWe did 2 tours with Barefoot - Monkey Island/Panama Canal and San Blas Islands. Communication and planning with Kevin and the tour guides was excellent. The tours were very organised and we were picked up from our apartment on time. On the Monkey Island tour, our tour guide Maty made sure we stopped at several different islands to ensure we saw different species of monkeys and wildlife. He was also very knowledgeable of the area and history. We highly recommended booking tours with Kevin and his team!
- Y8099WWcamillem00An Amazing Experience You Won't Want to MissThis tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Panama. Our tour guide, Gonzo, was extremely knowledgable and made the day fun and exciting. He really went above and beyond. Not only did we get to see a lot of cool things around Panama City, but we also learned a lot about the history of the country. My only regret is that we didn't take a picture with Gonzo! I highly recommend Barefoot Panama.
- neald5800Beach down timeSonny island resort Very nice little island. Great for a couple of days of very quiet relaxation. Friendly staff. When we were there there were only about 7 or 8 guests so it was very private. Right off shore there were several whales with babies. There are few extra activities. This is fine if you can be happy with a beautiful setting and a warm ocean to swim in. You are limited to their food hall which is nutritious but not inspiring. Bottom line I would go back for a couple of days. Barefoot Panama put his together at for us the day before we went.
- carter133300An amazing sampling experience that makes you feel like a local! After reading the description (😉) the tour provides everything it says and even a little more! It was so fun walking through Casco Viejo, learning, drinking, and tasting everything that Panama has to offer! Nicole did such a good job not only leading the tour and conveying her knowledge but also promoting an exceptional atmosphere! It really felt like you were a part of Panamanian culture and everyone left as friends! Thanks, Nicole and Barefoot Panama Tours!
- jlW8250SN00DisappointingExactly what is stated in the experience...not much food and not much history/guidance. "foodie-focused tour" should be removed. People are probably loath to leave a true review with all the negative feedback from the owner when honest.
- B8077QZmagalic00A great experienceBarefoot Panama customized a wonderful private tour for us where we hiked the Ancon Hill for a great panoramic view, visited the fish market and tasted some ceviche, discovered the Casco Viejo and they even got us a VIP pass for the Panama Canal for a very special experience. Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We learnt about the history but also coffee in Panama. It was the perfect introduction to Panama City.
- trishwandah00Good walking tour with some samplesOur tour guide, Janet was great. While on the tour we got to sample chocolate, beers, coffee, rum, and ceviche. Since this is named/advertised as a food tour I do wish there were more food options included, but we did enjoy our time with Janet learning about the history of Panama and strolling thru Casco Viejo. The views from the rum tasting restaurant rooftop are absolutely beautiful at night!
- Companion1576686084000San Blas AdventureThis is a trip for the adventure type of person and open minded with the logistics. The drive is fine until you reach the hills. The scenery is beautiful though. Bring cash for fees and taxes. The boat ride is fine if the water is calm. Once when on an island you forget about everything else and enjoy the Caribbean Sea.
- Wendysam100Great made to order tour.We did a "Build Your Own" tour of Panama City -- explored the old town on foot (including museum), drove through the modern area, went to the fish market (where we ate lunch) and several ice cream places (we had teen boys with us) etc. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible -- we even changed our tour while we were on it! And we learned a lot!! Our van was clean, well maintained, nicely cooled (very important in Panama at this time) and comfortable. We had also used another tour company -- this was far superior!! I highly recommend Barefoot.
- Travel1294457872000Panama city and canal tourThe tour was good. Since we were staying in Gamboa with no transportation I would have much prefered to spend more time in old town and shopping. Would have gladly skipped the smithsonian place with starfish, dirty aquariums and things I can see anywhere and spent more time shopping. The canal part was interesting.
- johnnyw4800Hard to leave.I can't say enough good things about Barefoot Panama. Never before have I dealt with a staff that was so on point every moment of our trip. They were all so friendly and helpful, and most importantly, they were helpful. Catering to our every need and whim. I really can't complete this review without mentioning how beautiful the beaches and views are, truly paradise on earth.
- 327roxanneb00Fantastic ExperienceWe took 4 tours with barefoot Panama & each one was unique, fun, organized, & excellent. Each guide was friendly, knowledgeable, & provided outstanding service. They took their time to explain the culture, history, animals, etc while providing memorable & unique experiences. They picked us up & dropped us off at our hotel, transportation was comfortable, professional, and clean. I went with my extended family, there were 7 of us total including a young child. They gave us important insight and tips. They even took pictures for us and sent them to us after the tour. They were also able to customize the tours to our likes. We took the El Valle hiking tour which was fun..seeing the mountain town, waterfalls, petroglyphs, and different landscapes. We also took the city/canal tour which included multiple sites such as the Miraflores locks, amadaor causeway, panama sign, bridge of America's, casco Veja walking tour, rainforest discovery center. The monkey island & Indian village tour was great, we interacted & saw lots of wildlife: monkeys, crocodile, iguana, tucans, & more & stopped at a native tribe village to learn about their culture. The San Blas islands tour was one of our favorites, the islands are beautiful and the lunch provided was great. We enjoyed the drive to the port & the guide pointed out wildlife & great scenic views. The boat ride was fun & the islands didn't disappoint. We went to 2 islands & a sandbar. The waters are crystal clear, beautiful shells, coral, fish, starfish. There is even a shipwreck at one of the islands that is great for snorkeling around. They give you great choices for lunch. Highly recommend barefoot Panama, you won't be disappointed, booking is easy, communication was great and responsive. We had a fantastic time on each tour & were able to see most of the highlights in Panama City & surrounding areas. The owner is fantastic and full of knowledge and tips for the area. Super friendly, professional, and great communication. You won't be disappointed booking with this company. They were great. Would highly recommend and book with them again.
- gghiretti0100Overall good. Boat crew nice and accommodatingSan Blas islands gorgeous. No one spoke English driver or pick up person but we managed. Main complaint car. 4x4 that really should not be used for tours of 6 people. Back 2 seats are not seats, you are sitting on floor of car with a cushion which is uncomfortable for 3 hour ride each way. When last couple was picked up they refused to sit in back Guide asked my friend and I to change seats!! to accommodate other couple. We refused. If you are going to have 6 people every one should have safe proper seating.
- 1World2TravelOn00El Valle WondersWe had an amazing trip to El Valle with BareFoot Panama. Our tour guide Felix took wonderful care of us. The zip line adventure was a highlight of the trip. The visit gave us insight into the interior of Panama. The visit to the butterfly sanctuary was enlightening. It was a great day out.

We did 4 days of activities. The tour guide on the first two days was super nice but I call it the Instagram tour. It was superficial. If we asked about the naturaleza or a more in-depth question about the history or tour, his answer was “I don’t know.” Or, my favorite was “That’s something French.” The snorkeling trip was our favorite part. The lunch place was pretty expensive but the tour guide was extremely informative and well-versed in the history and the interests of tourists. The last day was Isla Taboga. Barefoot didn’t provide transportation to the ferry and barely any information about how to get there. Recommendations would have been helpful. A friendly guide met us and got us set up on the beach, but then disappeared. He recommended we put our stuff in the bar area for safe keeping because it would be watched but when we returned from lunch it was not being watched. The beach wasn’t luxurious by any means. I would skip it - not the tour company’s fault at all. Lunch was only okay. Our order was taken at the port and we did not receive the correct order. Not worth the value. In general there was a lack of helpful information and communication. I asked about covid info and tips on what to bring. The answers I received were kind of flippant and not very helpful. So, not geared to tourists? My family called it Barebones Panama. We appreciated the adjusted price for a package deal and the restaurant recommendations. The tour guides we always prompt. The vehicle was clean. They were good drivers and wore their masks consistently. Be forewarned that as of May 2022 the Canal museum wasn’t open. Just the viewing area.

No one knows everything.. would you rather have thr guide lie.. silly review.
We favilitate the Taboga trip and pinpoint the location of thr marina and since all you need to do is say Taboga ferry, the line about barely giving you thenlocation is a but silly..
I sware, the power trip some people get when reviewing is shocking.. ask about Covid, like anyone can keep up to date with that, look it up online.. my revire of you isnt a good one, but i have to respond to crap like this so there you go

My husband and I had a blast with our guide Diego and all the activities on this tour. We met several monkeys up close, then enjoyed a unique presentation in a nearby Indigenous Village. The boat ride on Gatun Lake in part of the Panama Canal was a thrill. The day was full of energy and fun! I would definitely book another tour with Barefoot Panama.

I had a group of 50 come to Panma City for a conference. The leaders in town a day early did the Monkey Island Tour and Indian Village, Barefoot Panama handled all of our airport transfers (to and from) and then gave us a full group tour of the city (Miraflores locks and Casco Viejo) as well.
Can't say enough about the prompt communication which made planning a breeze for the many moving parts of our group. All tour guides were right on time for every pick-up. Payment and invoicing was very clear.
Tour guides are knowledgeable and gave great information even while we were just driving to and from the different sites.

At the risk of repeating some of the other reviews, definitely sign up for this tour and have Gonzo be your guide. The tour itself was amazing. The howlers were fun to watch; the Capuchins come right onto the boat and take food from your hand. The village was very interesting and the short rainforest tour was very educational. Gonzo grew up in Colon with American kids from the military bases and speaks just like us. He's extremely knowledgeable on everything Panama. I can't say enough GREAT things about him. You will have an awesome adventure.

Barefoot Panama provided an amazing experience from start to finish! Kevin was so quick to respond to any questions I had and arranged for a timely pick up and drop off from our hotel, hassle free!
Our tour guide Gonzo was absolutely delightful! He was so informative and educated on Panama, wildlife, indigenous culture, and nature. He was funny, and personable. Gonzo was also so patient with making sure we all got to see the monkeys from each island, he knew so much about each species of monkey and told us funny stories about the different types. We really enjoyed our tour, and had a great time! 10/10 recommend booking a tour with Barefoot Panama and requesting Gonzo as your tour guide!! You will not regret it!

Best day in Panama! Our guide Nico had us out to the monkeys early befall the other boats arrived. He came prepared with small amounts of food that the monkeys love. He was very conservation conscious and truly cares about all the monkeys snd other wildlife.
He took us to the village and went on a nature walk where he explained about local plants and trees that can provide life-saving if you were stuck in the forest. She was willing to take us to some markets to pick up some souvenirs. We had a wonderful lunch at his favorite restaurant and took his recommendation on the food which was absolutely delicious. He also took us to do a few personal errands before he dropped us back off. We could not be more grateful

I had the luxury of indulging in the Barefoot experience with Gonzo and Jorge on two different excursions! The first only teased my appetite for more adventure. Both tour guides are wells of knowledge and information that will take you as deep as you wish into the history and tales of these attractions. Gonzo was great at getting me comfortable to embrace the love from the monkeys extended. I had never been that close to wild monkeys. The history of the Indian Village was remarkable to say the least, and every inquiry about the canal was addressed. They are both great at spotting camouflaged wildlife for photo ops!
Jorge navigated expertly to Valle de Anton for one of the most serene experiences of my life. This special place is beyond photos and words. We warmed up with a short hike to the waterfalls before visiting this extraordinary rock telling its own story. An incredible site you have to see for yourself. I learned about the most unique frogs, and then found myself immersed in a majestic butterfly haven. Much of the Barefoot experience felt like it materialized from a fantastical world and I was touring a wonderland!

I really enjoyed the Panama City tour I took however I did the monkey island tour with the same company and wasn't so happy. This is because they feed the monkeys despite signs everywhere saying not to. The guide in the other boat snatched a baby croc out of the water and tried to pass it round our group. No one wanted to hold it and we told him to put it back in the water. We all know the issues feeding wildlife causes so won't say anymore, it was just disappointing.

The monkeys are resqued an put on those islands.. they have been feed in someones home before being re relised.. so, its not exactly feeding the 'wildlife' and you dont have to if you dont want to..

A family friend recommended Kevin at Barefoot Panama to help us with customized transportation and a tour while visiting Panama. Kevin arranged a coach to comfortably pick our family of 12 and transport us to Gamboa Resort. We also booked the Monkey Island, native village, and Panama Canal four hour tour. Enrique picked us up at Gamboa and took us on the spectacular tour. Our exceptional tour guide, Enrique, picked us up at the Gamboa Resort and gave us a very educational and interesting tour. We saw several white-faced monkeys at Monkey Island and had a wonderful experience at the native village. Finally, on our last day, Kevin arranged another coach for us to the airport. My family of 12 and I wholeheartedly recommend scheduling tours and/or transportation through Kevin at Barefoot Panama.

We had a great tour to the monkey islands and saw a lot of different monkeys, iguanas and birds.
All in one it was a great experience and our guide was very knowledgeable about Panamas culture and history.
The only thing to mention is, that we were already back at 2pm so it is not really a full day tour and on the way back we stopped at around 12:30 at a big food court, which I most of the group would hav preferred to go back to the hotel to make their own choice for lunch somewhere if we are back so early anyway. But we still highly recommend the tour company as it was authentic and the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable.

Hi, sorry I missed you. They could probably pick you up at the Gatun ferry dock (they did this with a couple of people), but they wouldn't drop you off in Colon...you would have to take a taxi or Uber. The tour finished after lunch about 2 PM.
