Having been on their canal tour already we knew just how good John was as a guide so had no hesitation booking an all day tour into the jungle to meet the Embera indigenous people. Early pick up and just over an hour drive to the Chagres River during which time John gave a great talk on the history of the Embera people.

Greeted by a couple of Embera we boarded our motorised canoe and headed up river seeing caimen along the way. We stopped off and trekked through the jungle to a waterfall where we spent half an hour swimming and enjoying nature. We then set off again back to the boats and further up river to the Embera settlement. A really warm welcome and spent hours just enjoying their company, tasting their foods and understanding their culture and traditions. We were the only outsiders there all day so didn’t feel over commercial and exploited.

Fantastic day had by us all and none of it was challenging to get to if your are physically able.

Our visit to Embera Drua was fantastic. Our guide, Leo, was friendly and knowledgeable, it was a beautiful trip to the village in a canoe, very interesting to learn about the Embera culture and buy some souvenirs, and to swim in the crystal clear river. Knowing that these tours are the sole source of income for the village also let me worry less about it being exploitative. I would highly recommend this tour!

We went on a jungle tour and visited the Embera village as a group of 6 and had an absolute blast. Enrique was incredibly knowledgeable regarding everything we had questions about and was more than friendly and funny the entire time. His English was fantastic but he was patient as we practiced some of our Spanish phrases. The Canal Tour through the flora and fauna was phenomenal; Enrique was able to quickly and accurately identify all of the birds and animals we saw. Please please please do yourself a favor and experience Panama from the perspective of an experienced and fun guide like Enrique.

We decided to extend our trip in panama city, and decided to book a tour. We came across this trip advertised and were more than pleased to have been able to participate. Enrique was our tour guide, and so much more. He is a wealth of information and was so happy to share his knowledge with us. He speaks several languages, our tour was done on English. We learned so much about the environment, the panama canal and its importance and the history of San Lorenzo. A simple but tasty lunch was provided, and a special treat not advertised --we were able to drive over the panama canal ! Truely a life long memory was made. We enjoyed the professionalism, sense of humor and abundant knowledge that Enrique provided, so much, that we asked to book another tour with him!

What a wonderful experience! John and Jerin know the Emberas well and they treated them like friends. It does feel like a show they're putting on, but this is also the only way they're able to make money and support the village. Panama canal ride is also insightful and we got to feed monkeys! John and Jerin are knowledgable and friendly! Highly recommended

Having been shaken around in a coach along rough tracks to find the dugout canoes, our adventure started. Two Embera guided about 12 of us in single file onto seats in the canoe. The 15 minute trip up the river, powered by an outboard engine, was fascinating and atmospheric. The only way for the Embera to reach civilisation is on these canoes. We were welcomed into the village and the chief told us about their life through our interpreter. His young wife showed us how they made their crafts. We all joined in a tribal dance. We ate beautiful cooked fish in plant leaves, enthusiastically bought craft objects, and then the whole village turned out to see us off on the canoes.
The only distraction was the ‘next’ tourist group arriving before we left. We felt as if we had been on a genuine adventure.

Jerin and William are very nice people and great guides. They know a lot and they gave us a lot of information. The pick up was on time and the ride was smooth. Take comfortable hike shoes if you’re going to the waterfall because it’s slippery, you’ll need to walk/hike a little before you get there. The only thing I would suggest is to slow the pace a little, I felt that we were in a hurry the whole time.
Thank you Cynthia for giving me the opportunity to take the tour although our plans changed at the last minute.

A very good tour, second one I took with this company, they are certainly providing a quality experience. We rode in a canoe with indigenous guides in their colorful attires - that being the only way to get to the village. First stop was a walk to a beautiful waterfall, it includes wading in the river for a bit, so wear appropriate footwear. You can also take a dip. Then we proceeded to the village where we certainly felt very welcome - tourism is an important source of income for the community. There was a bit of explanation and some dancing. Some beautiful handicrafts could be bought. We got a lovely lunch of fish and plantain. All in all, very enjoyable day.

There are no words to describe how wonderful this experience was. We visited the Embera Drua Village and were humbled by the hospitality of the natives. Mateo gives a thorough overview of the culture of the Embera people, how they make their goods and the jobs of both the men and women of the village. After a delicious lunch of fish and patacones, we were entertained by the natives who played on drums, turtle shells and flute like handmade instruments. The native women performed several dances and then the natives invited us to dance with them. Afterwards, we were able to walked around the small village and got to see the school and housing for the teachers. I even got my first tattoo (a henna type of dye). This is a truly unbelievably eye-opening experience, not to be missed. Again, Panama Day Trips was the perfect choice for this experience. Jerin is very knowledgeable and you can tell he has a true love for his work. He is so intuned with making sure you have a great experience that he took us further up the river so that we would have a more intimate experience.

We took this tour not knowing what to expect. We are so glad we did. We went Fri June 22 and Enrique was our guide. He was excellent!!! He was funny, informational, and as interested in us as we were in what he had to say. He taught us not only about the rain forest and the indigenous village, but he taught us about Panama and its people and culture as well. He shared history, customs, and background about everything we did and saw. Enrique was also welcoming to all of our questions as well. It was hands down the best tour I have ever taken in my life, foreign or domestic. It really was the highlight of our trip to Panama and it is something we will be forever thankful that we experienced. Top rate all the way around. Thank you
