About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 438geraintj0 contributionsExcellent canal experienceFrom start to finish it was an excellent day. There seemed to be a lot of people on the boat but with colour coded wrist bands used to stagger meal times and everyone being very courteous with the seats with the best outdoor views it worked out fine. The food was simple, but tasty and plenty of it. The guide was brilliant. Highly recommended for an up close look at the Panana canal.Written March 16, 2025
- Damien B0 contributionsTrip to Panama ! Feb ‘25An experience of a lifetime ! Absolutely fantastic crew and well looked after from the start ! Very well organised with great information all along the way ! Very clean vessel and people so friendly , helpful and courteous ! A special thank you to Hosé who was the tour guide and floated around the craft talking to everyone and answering any questions ! Also if it was a special occasion for anyone , he was delighted to announce it and wish people well ! A very special top class bloke ! Well done to all the crew and I couldn’t recommend this trip highly enough for anyone considering going to Panama and having the experience of going through the locks , the Calubra Cut and on to Balboa ! A treasured memory and much thanks and many blessings to all involved! Well done ! Best regards! Damien …… Ireland ☘️☘️☘️Written February 27, 2025

- Jolene5590 contributionsMemorable Way to Experience the Canal! This was a wonderful way to experience the canal. You learn so much from the guide plus you pass through two locks which helped me understand the process more. We were given both breakfast and lunch, so you don't go hungry. We came early to get the best seats; the benches on the top front of the boat. Bring sunscreen! Some people stayed at the very back where you could actually touch the wall and see how the back gates close.Written February 21, 2025
- cpc20240 contributionsDefinitely A Life Travel ExperienceI had wanted to try this tour out, but, I was like, I am not sure about, the amount of time on it (Estimation 6 hours on the partial transit version) and whatever else things, I was trying to think, to see, if I would go or not. I will just say, I am super glad, I did, its something about, when you actually are traversing thru the historical Panama Canal Locks, I felt like, being part of that history. The guide was good also, not too much, not to little explaining, now, relating to the Pacific Queen Ferry that is utilized in this tour, there were several bathrooms,, that were clean, eating area was decent size, the food that was served is not buffet style, but, served by personnel and the food was good and sufficient. Now lastly, the person, that was very helpful in me deciding to actually do the tour, was Liliana, I had multiple questions beforehand and she was great in answering them.Written February 18, 2025
- Thomas H0 contributionsFull transit of Panama Canal in 180 passenger boat180 passenger boat with comfortable outdoor and indoor seating transited entire Panama Canal from Pacific to Atlantic (including six enormous locks) in about 10 hours. Onboard guide provided very informative and interesting narration. Good breakfast and lunch were provided. Crew was very friendly and helpful. This tour was operating only once per month when we took it (in February, 2025), and was pretty much full. We were glad that we scheduled our trip to Panamá around the tour schedule.Written February 18, 2025
- mikebP7980OK0 contributionsA Day Well Spent - Full TransitThis trip lived up to my expectations. It is a full day 6AM to 6PM, but it is worth both the time and money spent. Panama Marine Adventures runs a well oiled machine. Check-in was early, but smooth and efficient. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack were provided as part of the package. They use colored wrist bands to control the flow of things, so there were never any long lines or crowding. The guide provided continuous narration in both English and Spanish and was also available to answer individual questions.Written February 17, 2025
- danibren0 contributionsAn awesome way to experience the canalThis was a great experience overall; you get on at the marina, and go up the canal through the Miraflores double locks and the Pedro Miguel single lock. It is awe inspiring! Jose was our narrator/guide, and was very engaging and entertaining, with lots of interesting facts about the history and process. The cruise includes coffee, breakfast, and lunch (served at around 10:30). All were mediocre. But...the food isn't the point of this experience so it didn't really bother me.Written February 10, 2025
- elleneH1410PZ0 contributionsMust see the Panama CanalGreat tour. The guide shared history and answered questions. It was cool to go through 3 locks. We saw how the ships were in line to get ready to go. We were in behind a huge ship with cars on it.Written February 10, 2025
- CantConfirmOrDeny0 contributionsBucket list item checked offExactly what I was hoping for. The whole experience was wonderful. I highly recommend taking the northbound cruise, even though it means getting up at 5AM. Watching the sun rise from the boat was a delight, and the sun is behind you for the whole cruise, which is perfect.Written February 7, 2025
- Ellen E0 contributionsVery interesting tour. The speaker was knowledgeable and answered all questions. HeAll in my group enjoyed the tour. Going through the locks was a unique experience. The guide explained everything. The boat was nice and seemed large enough for the amount of people on the tour. The food was fine, no complaints. The colored wristbands were helpful to call people to eat and disembark. We happened to have a tour that went smooth.Written January 11, 2025

Miguel, our transport driver from the hotel to the docks was courteous, prompt, and helpful. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to the point of embarkation. We arrived at the docks a little early and he took the time to drive a short distance in the area to look for some monkeys in the trees. He made sure we were admitted to the boat and advised that he would meet us at the end of the day at the debarkation point, which he did.
The partial transit - from north to south was mostly interesting. However, one needs to be prepared for hot weather and extended waits within the locks. The canal does not operate the locks for a small boat such as the Pacific Queen upon which we were sailing. The small boats must wait for a larger boat, such as the automobile transport ship which followed us into the locks about an hour after we arrived.
We had a narrator/guide on board the boat, Ian. He did a good job of explaining the history and the sites as we sailed along the canal and waited in the locks.
There was an open deck on one floor as well as some elevated areas in the foredeck for viewing. There were also 2 floors of enclosed, air conditioned space. The lowest publicly accessible deck was where lunch was served at around noon. The lunch was a pleasant surprise. It was remarkably good and a hot meal. We were pleased to see that it wasn't merely a cold lunch or a serve yourself buffet. It was a type of buffet, but there were servers who handled the food. And the food was tasty. The middle air conditioned deck was suitable for viewing the canal sides from a cooler location - through windows. We did not utilize the indoor space except to pass through on our way to and from lunch.
It was a worthwhile experience and I would recommend the tour company, the specific boat, the driver of the transport vehicle and our narrator guide.

Wonderful Experience.
This is one of the best way to experience the Panama Canal- a must see for history buff.
The check-in was kinda chaotic. However the bus ride to Gamboa was comfortable. The bus was clean.
The boat clean with plenty seats.
The your guide did an outstanding job with his narrations once the tour started.
The lunch was plentiful and tasty.
Even with the rain this activity is well worth the cost.
Will definitely recommend to anyone interested in the canal. ( much much cheaper than a cruise😜)

I was picked up exactly in time, arrived at the boat just before it left and was also picked up again right after entering the harbour - everything was just perfectly planed and the communication via WhatsApp worked out well.
Concerning the tour, it was just an awesome experience: First you could see the landscape surrounding the canal and then we passed the locks on the Pacific side. It's definitely worth spending the money to drive with a boat through the locks, you're a lot closer to the ships and therefore it's way more impressive.
The trip was topped off perfectly with an excellent guide and air-conditioned areas with free sodas and a lunch.

The time of the this tour was supposed to be a half a day and now will be about 10 plus hours. They don't tell you that when you're burning up on a boat you have to wait for huge ships in order to go through the lock together and it takes forever. There are number of times you could get off the boat because you were actually one foot away from the concrete Shore to get an Uber in case you have other things planned or if you are bored to death. They will not let you off the boat at different stops while you are snoring waiting for the huge ship to catch up that travels an inch an hour. The original lock doors manufactured in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1914 are quite impressive and are still working well today. However make sure you do not schedule anything else that day and make sure your phone is charged because you will get bored make sure you bring a gallon of suntan lotion because you'll get burned. No one tells you that you can waste much of a full day on your vacation. It's a five star if you want to get annoyed

Mar 2024 • Friends
Some friends went and some of us could not because of getting sick. But what upsets me is that they were not to put a charge on the credit card until day of trip. It was put on my friends credit card 2 days prior to the trip and then they would not give her a refund when we tried canceling that morning. The ones that went said they were not given any tickets when arriving to take tour. There was noone around, just told to get on boat. They liked the tour, but why was my friend charged before she was supposed to be? That's very sad that a company would take advantage of people like that. So when signing for these tours be very careful because we had to pay $150 for not going.

This was a really excellent experience!
For the Southbound Trip, the bus from Flemenco Marina is large and comfortable and pleasantly air conditioned. It holds about 50 people maximum. For a better shot at the best seats on the boat, sit at the front of the bus; I sat at the back and preferred that as the bus wasn't quite full and there was lots of space back there.
On the outside, the boat has 3 deck areas. The bow area has rather limited seating (considering the number of people). The upper deck, a few steps down from the bow area, has 2 rows of seating with each row having seats facing outward to water and inward toward center (and the other row). This deck also wraps around to the stern of the boat. The 3rd deck area is on the lower deck at the stern and is also a designated smoking area. With a reasonably full load, there aren't quite enough seats to go around - but that won't matter once you get started because most people are up milling around and taking pictures. Position yourself standing at the very front of the bow for the first part of the trip for good pictures. After the boat enters the Pedro Miguel lock (1st lock) you may want to go to the stern to get pictures of whatever large ship will be following you into the lock and of the water level drop where you're up and then down. This is the best lock for pictures, IMHO, because it has the largest drop; the upcoming Miraflores Locks are a set of 2 locks with smaller drops on each one.
Inside there is quite a lot of seating in 3 cabin areas. Immediately off the lower deck at the stern is the entrance to the 1st compartment. Going down some steps takes you to the restrooms and you can go forward to the enclosed bow area with seating or go down a few more steps to another cabin with seating where drinks and lunch is served.
Water and soft drinks are available throughout the trip at no charge; alcoholic beverages are charged for. Lunch is a brown bag affair with everything stored in a cooler for freshness until served. Very nice lunch with a delicious small sub sandwich, generous mixed fruit bowl, and a generous salad. The chocolate chip cookie was great, too!
The guide on the trip I took is a professor of history at a local college who does the guide bit on weekends - and is excellent. He provides a huge amount of great information about the canal and its history in alternating Spanish and English. He is also available with answers to any questions you may have about the canal.

This was an amazing “can’t miss” tour! A very comfortable 40-minute bus ride takes you to a boat where you will cruise down the Panama Canal, making your way through two locks. And under both the Centennial Bridge and the Bridge of the Americas. We were served a very delicious lunch and plenty of water (it was hot)! The most amazing tour guide, Edwin seemed to know everything about the history, the land, the canal, the locks, the container ships…explaining in English and Spanish. He was also very upbeat, funny, intelligent and approachable and really made the trip entertaining! The entire boat staff were also very kind and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile.

It was fun, and educational, to see the canal from a ship on the water as it traverses the canal itself. It is an amazing technological feat. Having said that, it’s a long day with a lot of downtime so you need to go into it with that realization and mindset. There was no commentary on the bus ride to the jump off point, and that is something that can be improved upon. The multilingual narrator on the ship kept everyone’s interest and the lunch actually exceeded expectations. The onboard “snacks” are essentially some chips and candy bars so bring your own if you think the lunch will not suffice.

This is a very nice tour which takes up most of a day. I could not imagine doing the full canal, all day tour -- it would be too long. Lunch is a simple brown bag, which was fine. You're not going for the food.
PROS:
1. Communication and punctuality and organization: The email with the hotel pickup time arrived as promised; driver was right on time; 45 minute ride to the boat; lunch is in orderly phases.
2. Service: The entire staff is outstanding. Our driver (Miguel), the guide on the boat was very knowlegeble and helpful and responsive to questions; the bartender women were quick and efficient. Everyone extremely helpful and pleasant.
3. The boat: Compfortable; plenty of room to move about; decent bathrooms.
4. The Canal experience, easy to get a good view of everything.
CONS (very few):
1. It can be very loud near the speakers and motor. I had ear plugs and tried to stay away from that area. See the photo. They should position smaller speakers all around the boat instead of the four giant, blaring speakers in the middle.
2. There are a couple of times when we had to sit parked for close to an hour, but the boat is at the mercy of Canal authorities, so it is what it is. No big deal.

This was an excellent experience and a wonderful way to see and learn about the canal. An announcer is onboard who used to work for the canal system and he knew everything about the canal. There are plenty of places on the boat to get a good view. They picked us up in a bus at a nearby hotel and drove us to the point where we boarded the boat. A tasty buffet lunch was provided, along with water and sodas. The boat is air conditioned inside in case you want cool air. We sailed southbound and did a partial transit, which covers two of the three locks. It was the right amount of time to spend for us. We were picked up around 10 a.m. and returned around 5:30 p.m.
