A perfect day in San Salvador
Starting with a very reasonable pick up time of 9 am, Steve led our massive group of 20 (with 10 kids!) on an amazing tour of San Salvador’s downtown sites, including the Centro Historico, the brand new BINAES library, a street market, anthropological museum, cathedrals, Iglesia El Rosario (pictured), Plaza Libertad, and much more. Oh, the pupusas. Don’t sleep on the bus karaoke on the way back to the beach. Steve, you rocked and leaned into our group’s crazy 🇨🇦 energy. We hope to be back soon!

Easy ride the the volcano Santa Ana and the lake Coatepeque
Awesome visit with super cool guide. The volcano hike is an essential in San Salvador and the use of a guide makes it easier. The lunch in Coatepeque Lake is really nice with tremendous view. Definitely worth it !

The best way to San Salvador essentials
Great visit with Gerson to San Salvador essentials including Parque Central, mercado central and National Library. The guide is really sympathetic and the visit to Boqueron and the Finca for lunch is awesome.

The pre trip communication was great. All my questions were answered timely. Stephanie(I know I am spelling it wrong) was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and shared with us exactly what we were looking for -the history of El Salvador. She was courteous and helped us souvenir shop. We can not say enough good things about her and this company. Carlos the driver was excellent!

Custom two-day tour in El Salvador
We set up a custom two-day tour with EC Tours. We saw Joya de Ceren, Cerro Verde National Park, Lake Coatepeque, and the Ruta de las Flores. It was absolutely wonderful. Our guide, Lisbeth, was really knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, enriched our experience, and was fun to be around. Our driver, Alessandro, was safe and professional. It was easy to set up the tour, too. We highly recommend this company.

Ruta de las flores is the best tour in El Salvador
Our tour guide was Lisbeth, and she is knowledgeable and very friendly. We learned a lot about the history and culture of El Salvador. Visiting the coffee plantation was our favorite, and the Nuhat Native Indians town filled with the natives works. This full day tour is MUST do and take part of it. We also did a 1/2 day tour in the old business area of SanSalvador and it was fantastic. We will use this company again in the future and ask for Lisbeth to guide us again.

A fantastic introduction to El Salvador
We took the free walking tour of San Salvador with Steve. It was really interesting - we saw many of the main sights in the city centre and learned a lot. Steve was great; very knowledgeable, with plenty of interesting stories. He covered a wide range of subjects and I felt he really wanting to make sure we enjoyed the tour and our visit in El Salvador. He had a very good level of English. I'd really recommend this tour, and particularly to do it right at the beginning of your stay here because its a great introduction to the city and the country.

          Lovely El Salvador
Very interesting tour of several towns with authentic markets, local food, colorful murals, quality coffee and the nicest people you could ever meet. We also did the Ruta de los Mayas tour as well as the Ruta de los Volcanes. We enjoyed them all. You can’t go wrong with ECTOURSELSALVADOR. They’re a safe, responsible and punctual company. We were take care of by the guide/driver duo of Gerson and Gabriel. They were both great: polite, approachable, caring and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Amazing El Salvador trip, thanks to EC tours!
We had an amazing time in El Salvador, thanks to EC tours! From the start of tour planning, Vanessa was very attentive in helping organize the tour. Steve was our tour guide for 5 days while we were there and he was very kind, attentive, personable and knowledgeable. He was great with our 8 and 11 year-old kids. He gave excellent recommendations for foods and great stories to illustrate the history and significance of each site. Thank you!

Absolutely beautiful experience. Our tour guide Windy was kind and knowledgeable. The driver was also friendly, showing us his pictures of local activities. The sites were great, not crowded at all. We were paired with local experts at each site.

I wouldn‘t book again (in short: things that were agreed upon were not kept and I was put in a very dangerous situation)
I booked 4 days trips in El Salvador (plus an additional day in El Salvador) and after that trips in Honduras. The previous organization was very difficult and, in my opinion, not very professional. My contact at EC Tours for planning my trip was Vanessa. Here some examples: Originally I booked some activities in Honduras (after El Salvador. I booked also a shared shuttle from Copan to La Ceiba in Honduras. (I received a confirmation from EC-Tours für this activities as well) and wanted to know if I would be taken directly to the hotel in La Ceiba (due to safety concerns as I was travelling alone). I sent three E-Mails to EC-Tours about this and received no response. Then I found out from my hotel in Copan and from a local agency that there are no shared shuttles. Therefore I decided to cancel the Honduras part completely and looking for other alternatives. I booked private tours fort he El Salvador part and also paid for private tours and received confirmations for that.. One day before the tour, Vanessa told me that there could also be group tours. I told her that I did not agree with this because I had paid for private tours. After some back and forth, I got at least some money back if there were other participants. But it was very stressful for me, I don't like having constantly discussions about things that are taken for granted on vacation. It happened again and again that more money was demanded (although a total price was clearly agreed upon when booking and also confirmed by EC Tours!! For example: I had to pay an additional $25 for the waterfall tour. The explanation was that this was forgotten (even though the tour was confirmed as such!). I had to pay an additional $30 for the Botanical Garden, even though this tour was already confirmed (including the Botanical Garden). The excuse here was that the Honduras part was deleted (although the bookings for El Salvador were never changed!) According to the plan, the tour (San Salvador and El Boqueron) was supposed to run from 08:30 AM - 05:30 PM (=9 hours). I was only picked up at 09:10 AM that day and was back at the hotel by 04:45 PM (=7.5 hours). The botanical garden was on the way (I use Google Maps) and the day tour was 1.5 hours shorter (incl. Botanical Garden), so it's a disgrace to charge another $30 (especially since it was confirmed otherwise!). I complained about that too. At first they said they wouldn't charge me again, but then they charged me anyway. This is definitely not okay! Gerson was my guide on most tours. He was very nice and informative. At the beginning I thought that only the organization was bad, but at least there are good guides in the company On the last day, however, something really bad happened, so I changed my mind here too: That day I joined the 7 Waterfalls hike and the Ruta de Las Flores (also with Gerson). Originally I wanted to do this tour in two different days. However, Vanessa (without asking me) decided to do it in one day and did not inform me that you cannot do everything on the Ruta de Las Flores (which was my main focus)! We started with the hike to the 7 waterfalls, which was supposed to be completed in 5 hours according to the itinerary. There were actually 10 waterfalls in total, but unfortunately Gerson did not intervene here because the other two participants were bathing extensively in each waterfall. I then pointed out several times that the Ruta de Las Flores was still to come. At the end of the route of the 7 Waterfalls, an illegal path was taken, which meant that we had to cross private property and climb over a high barbed wire (!!!). I ruined my trousers (I had to sit on the barbed wire) and I also injured my legs several times. Blood ran down my knees to my feet! I was really shocked and stunned !! And the best thing: no responsibility was taken. Gerson told me that I wanted to get back quickly (because of the Ruta de Las Flores - this is so macabre, we were so late that we didn't have lunch until around 03:30 PM and then did the Ruta de las Flores ). So in the end, I was blamed! I have to say, however, that I didn’t ask for this illegal route, and the guide did not inform us beforehand that we were going to do such a dangerous thing. I would NEVER have agreed to this! The other two participants did not manage to climb over the barbed wire. It was so dangerous and so irresponsible! So I had to pay for the additional transport because the other two participants took another way for going back! There was no apology, no replacement for my broken trousers, and no compensation.for all the injuries. For these reasons: never again! I have travelled a lot, but I have never experienced anything like this and I would never wish it on anyone

AMAZING tours! Thank you Lizbeth 😊
WOW! Words cannot describe how our tour guide, Lizbeth, went above and beyond for each tour. We did the walking tour of San Salvador, Santa Ana Volcano Hike, and Ruta de Las Flores. We also added a tour to visit my mom’s home town that she grew up in. Lizbeth not only was so knowledgeable and informative on each tour, but she truly exceeded our expectations of all of these tours. She advocated for my husband and I to see inside the school my mom grew up in and to visit her old house. She also translated for us when we needed helping buying or ordering something. She was so kind and patient and really made us feel so safe when walking around each town. Thanks to her, my husband and I know so much more about our culture and have made us grow to love El Salvador even more!! I highly recommend using EC Tours and requesting Lizbeth… you won’t be disappointed!!

Very enjoyable day. Edwin picked us up for what turned out to be a private tour from our hotel. His English is excellent and we are soon deep in conversation about recent history of El Salvador, he has great knowledge of history and culture of the country. The lake trip was around an hour, lovely scenery and I finished that with a quick swim. Then another 45m drive to solcicito which is a charming town. After a walk around town and visiting a few places we were taken to a locals restaurant by the lake for a nice and good value meal.

Suchitoto has incredible views and gorgeous gardens. It’s a really charming little town. Ilopango lake is beautiful (a little commercial) but great for swimming, taking a boat trip or just chilling by the lake.

I had a great time on this tour with my mom! Walter and Melisa arrived to our hotel on time, and provided us with cold bottles of water. They wore matching EC Tours shirts, which made it feel professional. Walter was a courteous and safe driver, while Melisa provided lots of information about El Salvador’s history, food, nature, cultural identity, politics, etc. while in the car and at location. The boat ride on lake Ilopango was refreshing, beautiful, and informative. We ate delicious minutas while there. Suchitoto was lovely and Melisa had a ton of information about the town and the history of colonization in the country. Lunch at Casa 1800 was yummy, but the view from the patio was the highlight of the meal! All in all, 10/10 would recommend. For folks with curious minds that like to ask questions, learn, and talk - this is a great tour and Melisa was the PERFECT guide.

I rated this tour 2☆ for several reasons:
        1. The cost of the activity per person is simply not worth what you see and experience to justify the price.
        2. The boat ride at the Lake, while relaxing, is simply 30-minutes along the shore and around a small rock cropping (an island?). There isn't anything notable about this lake, or that would make you feel that you weren't at any plain ole lake anywhere in the world. This almost feels like a throw in activity to justify the price, since the visit to Suchitoto is "meh".
        3. There isn't much to Suchitoto, to be honest. It's a small, quaint colonial town with typical touristy shops that you will see throughout most of E.S. The church is nice, but for the amount of time spent getting here and the cost, it's hard to justify spending $90+ person for this experience.
        4. The highlight of the trip was eating at Casa 1800. The view is amazing, and the atmosphere is serene.
If you are reading this review and considering this trip, I would recommend you do the Ruta de Las Flores trip they offer instead. You will see several colonial towns that are much more exciting and justify the cost. (Do that tour on the weekend when Nahuizalco is doing their outdoor market.)
If you do the Ruta de Las Flores you can completely skip the Suchitoto tour, as there isn't anything on this tour that you haven't seen already. And the Lake trip is a big nothing burger.
We were left EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this tour and felt like we wasted a day in E.S. that could have been spent elsewhere.

Favorite part of El Salvador was meeting my Super Cool tour guide Alex and very Sweet driver Elena. Together they make an amazing team. Alex provided my husband and I with so much information about the towns, people and customs. Our private tour surpassed our expectations such as the beautiful town of Suchitoto and nearby waterfalls. Alex's passion and knowledge of El Salvador poured right out of him making our experience even more enjoyable. When coming to El Salvador I highly recommend EC tours ask for the dynamic duo Alex and Elena.

This was a fantastic tour! The guide, Wilman, was informative and very pleasant to spend the day with. Llopango Lake is breathtaking and the drive to and from Suchitoto is spectacular. Driving through El Salvador is like driving through the Garden of Eden. I highly recommend this tour, and making a pit stop at Casa de Abuela in Suchitoto for a delicious fresh coffee!

I communicated with Edwin several months prior to my arrival and with his help, I planned to see the most I could within the short time I had in the country.

To start with, Edwin arranged transport from Antigua Guatemala to El Tunco, then I had a long day tour that covered Santa Ana, San Salvador City and Suchitoto. This ended up being a private tour with Edwin and one of his staff which had the obvious benefits of flexibility.

Edwin is a gentleman, easy going and chatty - he’s a wealth of knowledge, proud of his country and rightly so. And he doesn’t sugarcoat, he tells it as it is. A better introduction to this beautiful and friendly country isn’t possible. There was no rush during this tour and I had the time I wanted. A special highlight for me was Suchitoto, a place with a special history. Guatemala has got Antigua, Nicaragua got Granada, El Salvador got Suchitoto.

El Salvador surprised me, it’s more modern than I expected, people are extremely friendly and open minded. And it’s great value. And not forgetting the pupusas, the best street food in the world!

Edwin then arranged for me transport to Nicaragua and between cities. He booked volcano boarding and sailing on Lake Nicaragua. He can book anything if necessary, just ask him. And it’s all at a fair cost - I paid most of it via PayPal before I arrived and everything went 100% as planned. I highly recommend using the services of EC Tours to experience the best of El Salvador (and Nicaragua).

I actually did three full day tours. The other two were the city tour of San Salvador/visit to Picnic Steak House and the volcano, then a day of multiple beaches. All three days I had Miguel as a tour guide and driver. He was always on time to pick me up and had a great attitude. All my tours were private tours and I felt comfortable with him. He helped me practice my Spanish and get some great photos. He made sure I had a great time and even found a local vendor that agreed to let me make my own pupusa when the place we were supposed to go to for a pupusa workshop was closed. I had a great experience.

My mom and I had an amazing experience doing a private day tour from San Salvador to Suchitoto and Ilopango Lake. Our guides Jocelyn and Walton were absolutely amazing. They were very welcoming, kind, funny, and knowledgable about the areas we visited. The tour was about 8 hours long, and we were able to do a lot of sightseeing, eating, and activities at our own pace. After how great the tour was, we even booked a San Salvador walking tour for the next day. I'd definitely recommend this tour, especially with Jocelyn and Walton!

The Tour was amazing! I thought that we were going to be with more people; however, it was me, my dad, Carlos the driver, and Wendy the guide.
