Our guide Herbert was fantastic. Very kind and knowledgeable. I was a little disappointed we didn't get to do the zipline or ATVs but overall still a lovely day.

As an American with Salvadoran heritage, this company is EVERYTHING. October 2024 is my second time in the country this year, and my second time booking with Ecotours Petate. We have toured with all 3 of the guides that work for this group and every single time it’s memorable. The epitome of safe, comfort in a great vehicle, the most absolute level of kindness, tremendous knowledge (enough that my mom who is a native of El Salvador leaves with a new piece of information she didn’t have before every time). Recently we toured La Union on a boat trip with Osmaro & just yesterday the historical archeological sites and Cerro Verde with Herbert. 10/10 is not enough for these guys. You will feel like you’re with family, you will laugh A LOT and you will have the experience of a lifetime with this team. Way to go! I’ll be back!

Best tour yet! I had a great time on this tour. Little did I know that September is the slow season, so the tour bus wasn’t super packed. My tour guide Osmaro was a very knowledgeable tour guide. I was very at ease considering I was traveling alone. It was fun from the first minute. We started by visiting an older village filled with charm, some shopping and fyi visit the souvenir shops away from the others. They have lower prices. From there we went to a traditional coffee roaster and processing plant that uses methods from the 1930’s. The tour guide was incredible and very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Coffee samples and a few bags of coffee I bought to take home. Then it was off the the thermal pools (hot springs) where it was very modern and they had changing rooms and places to eat and drink. Take a towel! Best tour yet. I recommend 100%

We had the most amazing time with Osmaro! He was extremely accomodating, knowledgeable and captivating, we learnt so much on our trip and laughed the whole way through! This is definitely an experience you can’t miss when in El Salvador! Our guide Osmaro was great! He even picked up my group at a halfway point to accommodate the side of town we were coming down from which we really appreciated. It was definitely a challenge for me to hike, but totally worth it. He took us to eat at a delicious restaurant, and then to swim in the lake afterwards. Such a full day of adventure. Definitely recommend with Osmaro!

This hike was absolutely amazing! Such beautiful views, and with our awesome tour guide Herbert, we learned so much! We gained knowledge about the history of El Salvador, as well as a little bit of Nahuat! The hike was a great workout and such a great experience! I would definitely do it again and I would highly recommend it! Make sure to get Herbert as your guide, this guy is awesome!

We had a great experience with this company. We had a couple of unforeseen things come up and Rafa was flexible in working with us on changing the day and type of tours. Osmaro was incredible - knowledgeable and engaging in both English and Spanish. The highlight for me of this tour was stopping by the lava fields - it was very special! The pick ups were punctual. Made everything very easy. Will return for another tour!

I highly recommend this company. Osmaro, our guide was absolutely brilliant! He picked us up and took us to see Sochitoto and back safely. He has an excellent command of the English language and a vast knowledge of El Salvadorian history. He explained everything in detail and was able to answer all of our questions. A very socialable and accommodating guide. I only wish that we could have gone on another day trip with him. A great day.

I went on this tour and it turned into a surprise tour of the history of El Salvador with live interviews from people on the front lines of the civil war! I honestly didn’t expect much from El Salvador at all but this company showed me around and exceeded my expectations to the point that I will be returning with much much more time next time!
