- U3412JSmatthewv0 contributionsUnmissable experienceFascinating tour covering numerous sites around the exclusion zone. Oksana was a great guide, hugely knowledgeable and able to answer any questions. Sadly can't remember the other guides name who was a trainee but he was also very passionate about the subject and was good company on the tour. Top job from the driver getting us there and back in good time and had an eagle eye for the wildlife in the forests, stopping the minibus so we could see the foxes and wild horses just off the road. If you're visiting Kyiv this is a must see, the things you see and hear about will stay with you long after the tourWritten February 9, 2022
- PCO9090 contributionsBest tour of my lifeThis was without a doubt the best tour I have ever been on! Our main guide Vicki was incredible - the quantity and quality of the information she gave us was out of this world, and she anwered every single question effortlessly. our secondary guide (I think his name was Dan) was fantastic too. From start to finish the experience was top class. The bus was modern and comfortable, communication from the admin staff was great, and I felt that our guide and the zone officials took the safety of all visitors very seriously - both from the threat of radiation and the threat posed by abandoned buildings etc. 10/10, I would recommend this tour without hesitation.Written February 8, 2022
- Marcwez0 contributionsBeyond expectations!I found this company online three years ago and decided then we wanted to do a two day trip, but due to illness and then covid restrictions we've only just made our visit. We arranged for a pickup from where we were staying (this cost 12us$) as it would save us an hour of messing around in the morning. There was only 6 people on our tour which filled up the minibus, (however I was surprised that given the current restrictions neither the driver, guide or 2 of the people on the tour didn't have or use a mask at anytime in the vehicle) The drive from Kiev to the first checkpoint was just over 1.5hours, a few minutes to sort out the paperwork whilst we got a hot drink and a quick look at the souvenirs and we were in! In the following 2 days we saw so much, villages, vehicles, buildings, towns, reactors, duga radar etc and walked a huge amount (be prepared for a lot of walking!) We couldn't leave the sight of our guide at any time or go into any of the buildings as they are far too dangerous to enter nowadays. Our guide had an excellent knowledge of Chernobyl, Pyripat and the surrounding areas and could answer any questions he was asked in perfect English. We stayed the night in a small hotel in Chernobyl, this was basic but adequate for the night, we also had the food option, this was all local, traditional dishes which were plentiful and very tasty! We didn't go hungry. Overall I was both shocked and surprised by the degradation of the buildings and the sheer amount of trees now growing. It was nice and cold with snow when we visited, this gave us an excellent view of everything. To be honest if you visited any time between when the leaves start to grow and until they have all fallen you wouldn't be able to see much at all ,it would almost be like walking in a forest! Overall this tour exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it, and for those who are worried about radiation, your flight to Kiev would expose you to more radiation than 2 days wandering around these areas.Written February 6, 2022

The winter is a good season to travel to Chernobyl, because then you can see more. Prypiat looks a bit like a forest after all these years. In winter you probably see more.Written January 24, 2022

- N4833GVtimb0 contributionsGreat tour well organised and informativeExcellent tour, well organised and the guide was very informative. The meeting place is marked on Google maps for anyone trying to work out where the bus is parked. Pripyat looked great in the snow but I wonder how different it would look in the summer - maybe another trip is on the cards. The tour didn’t feel rushed but we were told we would be back in Kyiv by 7 but actually we arrived two hours earlier. Hopefully didn’t miss out on anything but the tour wasn’t as long as advertised. Apart from that a great day out.Written January 21, 2022

First things first…… Ana! Ana!Ana!! The best guide you could ask for. You can tell she loves her job and despite her doing this almost everyday, she is so passionate about it. She takes you to each location like it’s her first time too, meaning you can sense her excitement and passion on telling you the history of the place. She took me to various locations and explained its history and stuff that has occurred on that place. We were able to take awesome pictures and she was so patient with me specially in taking the pictures I wanted to take. I was feeling under the weather that day so she made sure that we stop at the pharmacy to get the medicines I needed and really to took care of me the whole tour so I would have an awesome time. I am so glad I took the private tour. It was so worth it! I would highly recommend this to anyone and ask for Ana!!! Thanks again to the best tour guide everrrrr!!!

My son (20 yrs) and I went together to Chernobyl, he, with a interest born by the HBO-film, me following the disaster from Sweden at the time, with an interest in the history and the social aspects of the disaster. The day in Chernobyl is not comparable to anything else we have done earlier. We are still overwhelmed by the very powerful experience. The format of a private tour matched our interests perfectly and more than that. All layers of history and the complexity of the disaster and today’s situation where made visible by our deeply knowledgeable guide Dennis who shared this with us in a personal and engaged way. Chernobyl tours were very clear and easy to communicate with during the planning but a reason to choose them, is also their long term perspective in preserving memory, developing the zone into the status as a National Park and a place on UNESCO World Heritage list. We want to thank Dennis for making the day completely unique, interpreting our needs and interests better than we ever could do ourselves and driver Anatoly for sharing experience, waiting so patiently, always in a good mood. We are so happy we did this and we hope to come back soon.

Wow, what a great trip this was. An experience that i will remember for a long time. The tour was in english and the guide was speaking really well. She had great knowledge about everything and we were really well explained about what happened at the certain places we passed by. She also had answers to every question we had.
The tour started early in Kiev and it took around 12 hours, and we got to see a lot in these hours. We saw abandoned villages inside the exclusion zone, the outside of the Chernobyl power plant and the newly built dome over reactor 4, the city of Pripyat and more. Even got to experience a proper soviet lunch.
Because of the COVID-19 times there were obviously less tourist around which i felt was just better for us when we got to go around and look in places.
The trip was all safe, the radiation levels we recieved were very little, the same as a 20-40 min jet flight or eating 40 bananas. We had both a geiger teller and a chip on us that measured our levels the whole time. The guide did show us some of the hot spots, but generally they have mapped this trip out very safely and well.
I absolutely reccommend doing this trip, it is one that you will remember!

August 23, 2021. The 1 Day tour takes the entire day, including travel to and from Kyiv, but well worth it. Our tour guides were Anna and Ihor and they provided all of us with history, science, and culture lessons of not only the Chernobyl disaster but also the "Back to the Future" experience of stepping into the not all too distant past of Soviet Ukraine, delivered with a wonderful touch of dark Eastern European wit. Anna also speaks Spanish entonces vengan a tomar este tour con ella. Que vengan! Vale la pena. Gracias Anna e Ihor por un buenísimo tour.

We were 2 friends traveling together and booked a 2 day private tour of the 10k and 30k exclusion zones which ment it was only the two of us, our guide, Ihor, and our driver Sasha. The private tour is worth all the money!
We also booked a guided tour of the powerplant so we had only one and a half day of exclusion zone sightseeing and half a day in the poweplant.
Our guide, Ihor, is the BEST guide we could have wished for! He knows so much of the history of the place and a lot of special places to visit. He can tell you incredible and funny stories and knows accurate facts of the places you visit. He is a very experienced guide that I highly recommend.
Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

This was truly once in a lifetime experience. There were three of us that took a private tour and we could not have been more pleased with the service. Communication with the office and the whole booking process was professional and pleasant. The pick up was on time and both Andrei the driver and Ihor our guide were very good. We felt safe in the car on the road and the guide had a very good knowledge of the history and the places we went to, he could answer all our questions and his English was excellent. We had limited time and had to be back sooner than a tour like this is normally and this was accommodated and everything done to enable us see as much as possible in the limited time we had and we were back at the exact time we had asked for. I can not recommend the service enough and would use their service again.

It was a very well organised tour which maximised the available time (one full day) to visit all the sites and provide the utmost experience and learnings to participants. The guide Ivan was excellent by being passionate about telling the facts and individual narratives, and trying to offer us everything he can. Personally, as someone who grew up in Soviet Moscow including the rime of the incident, it was a great learning experience being able to see the site and the impact of this manmade disaster on the residents, to understand the responses made, and to be reminded of the way USSR was operating..etc. Bottom line, it was an excellent tour and I definately recommend it!

One of the best experience ever! It met our expectations and more, the booking process was fast and straightforward. In my opinion the best company you can book with for this tour. We booked a private tour for 2 and they picked us up from kiev in a modern car with a driver it was really nice and got what we payed for.
Now be sure to ask for Stacy she was awesome, very nice , funny energetic, and super knowledgeable you can ask her anything. She is the best, specially if you need an English speaking guide. She was just perfect.

Hi ,
I imagine that it is difficult to visit all places of tchernobyl , douga and prypiat , of course . With my wife , we have a photographic orientation with a pro camera (not instagram) and a drone, so we want to have a course that can be less classic but very oriented on the photo spots. Is it possible to have a more personalized route discussed with the guide? and a guide speaking french ? Philippe from France

Do you get to walk around or do you have to stay on the bus the whole time
Written August 1, 2021
Hi, in the process of booking a private tour for 9 of us travelling from the UK in July. One of our group has to renew his passport before we travel. I notice in the trip rules that the passport supplied in the booking must be the same as the one presented on the day. Do we need to wait until he has his new passport before we can book or can we book with his existing passport and then provide new passport details once he has the new one ?
Kind regards
Graeme
Written February 13, 2020
Yes you should wait for the new passport to arrive before booking the trip as the tour company needs to submit the passport number on the exclusion zone entry permit. When applying for the new passport, your passport number may change (as it did in my case). The passport number on the entry permit must match the number on the passport or you will be refused entry into the zone.

Hi,
We are 2 friends we would like to join the tour on 5 december. Is it possible if we are only 2? And aproximately how many people we will be in the tour? And do we go in the van around the place( chernobyl) ornwencan also walk around and take pictures?
Written November 13, 2019
I think you can take a private tour with two people, using Chernobyl Tours. We were a group of three. They drive to certain points where you then walk for a bit to see the main sights, and the vehicle is waiting for you at the other end. Then back on the vehicle to the next. The busses we saw looked very crowded, but followed the same pattern. It’s a question of cost and comfort. Whatever it costs, it’s a brilliant trip.

hello we are a Mexican father or son of 16 and 62 years respectively and in January we will travel to Ukraine specifically to visit chernobyl, we know that there is a limit of 18 years but we wonder if there is any possibility that the tour can be done with the child of 16 years.
Thaks!!!

Hello
Will we also be inside the nuclear power station ? Where the control room is ?
Written October 29, 2019
Hello
We did not enter the control room area on our tour - it was not included.

Hi
1. When we expected to be back at our hotel?
2. What is the closest point we are going to be near the chernobyl reactor?
Thanks in advance
Written September 29, 2019
We got back at about 8pm dropped off at the railway station. You will get within 50m of the reactor. However the reactor is the least intersesting part of the tour. The towns and cities are so amazing.

Hi, We are looking at booking a tour for 2 people in December. Some tours go inside the Power Plant. Does this tour include an option for this? if so can you please advise if this costs any extra? Thanks
Written August 25, 2019
I’ve never seen this as an option, but would love to know if you do manage to find a tour that covers this.
