Three day private tour from Bucharest with Daniel as guide. Having covered Western Europe with guides, this was our first exposure to the East and we were not sure what to expect. Not only did Daniel show us the natural and historic excellence of Romania, but he also showed us what getting a private guide is all about. He hit all the big sights, of course, but also provided us with loads of insight and knowledge with efficiency that only an experienced pro can provide. He managed the timing of our visits so that, for example, at Peles Castle we had what was essentially the entire castle to ourselves. We couldn't believe it. He also added numerous hidden gems, from roadside points of interest, restaurant and wine recommendations, to chimney cake and a bonus stop to pick up lost luggage at the airport. In short, Daniel was amazing, fun to be around, and tremendously kind. If we go back to Romania (or anywhere near it in fact), we will be reaching out to Daniel to reunite for the journey.

Daniel at Romania on the Map Tours was our guide for a two day custom tour from Bucharest to Transylvania and back. We were a small group of two couples. We had limited time to spend at the end of a larger tour of the Balkans in which Daniel had guided our larger tour group around Bucharest in the days before. We wanted to spend at least one night in Transylvania to see more of Romania than just Bucharest. It would have been better to have two nights but we did what our schedule permitted and Daniel did a great job of customizing the tour to see the best things. He guided us through the old town of Sibiu and then on to Sighisoara where we stayed overnight. The hotel was excellent and the restaurant that Daniel recommended was super. The next day we saw Bran Castle and Peles Castle and Daniel did guided tours through both for us along with a tour of the old town of Brasov. The one element that Daniel had factored into his plans for this trip, but which most day trips from Bucharest don’t, is that the traffic on the Romanian highways can be very slow. Daniel is an excellent guide and driver and we appreciated his expertise on this short trip. We would recommend his services to anyone travelling in Romania.

We spent three delightful days with Daniel. First, he picked us up at our hotel near Constanta, Romania and drove us to Bucharest. Along the way, he pointed out several features of the landscape and information on the cities we passed. We didn’t visit anything because this was primarily transportation from the coast to Bucharest but he did give us a good overview of the area. The next day, Daniel, picked us up at our hotel and we spent the whole day with him, touring Bucharest. He is very knowledgeable and made our visit to this beautiful city very special. We had a lovely lunch with him, where he explained that soup is the common lunch in Romania. Since we love soup, this was very good to know. For the rest of our time in Romania, we tried many different soups, all of which were delicious. He also gave us a terrific recommendations for dinner in this city and our next day in Bucharest on our own. The following day, he picked us up and took us to Peles Castle, a terrific site. He just didn’t drop us off; he went through the castle with us explaining the rooms and decor and artifacts. He then gave us a walking tour of Brasov before dropping us off in our hotel near Brasov. Although you can pick from a wide variety of tours on his website, he is also very accommodating to create a personal itinerary, which he did for us. He is a great guide, very personable, and a delight to be with.

Collected by Catalin outside our Hotel at the time arranged and greeted us with a smile and a hand shake. On the trip to The Bear Sanctuary , Catalin offered us water and told us about Bucharest and the areas that we were travelling through. He welcomed our questions and his knowledge made our experience both entertaining, stimulating and educational. At The Bear Sanctuary he helped us obtain entry tickets and what to expect on entry to the sanctuary, whilst he waited for us to return. Driving through the Carpathian Mountains he gave us more details of the area, finally arriving at Dracula's Castle. Again he helped us purchase our tickets to the castle and gave us a guided tour, that was full of historical facts, of the Castle and its history around it. One of us was a bit disappointed as was excepting more to do with the story of Dracula but this was blown out of the water by the full fact information given by Catalin to us that showed the true story of the Castle and how Bran Stoker took parts of history etc to make the characters in the his book. After the tour of the Castle we had some traditional Romanian food such as Romanian meat ball, chicken skewer and some Polenta - without his help we would maybe of not have tried them. He drove us back to the hotel, still giving us helpful information and answering our questions as he did from the start of the trip at 7 am, despite it being a long day, with lots of driving by him, finally arriving at our Hotel just after 6.30 pm. Prior to this day, Catlin messaged us to confirm pick up time as well as potential weather forecast which allowed to be prepare for this. We would definitely recommend this private tour and to do both visits as one trip due to the distant from Bucharest Old Town. If your lucky your guide will be Catalin and hopefully have the experience that we had.❤👍

Our 15 hour tour was the most pleasant experience with outstanding tour guide, Daniel. Very comfortable ride and most pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide.

Our driver and guide, Daniel, is an absolutely lovely person and the epitome of professionalism through and through. He certainly made our day trip to Bran, Brasov and Peles Castle a thoroughly enjoyable experience. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about all and everything related to Romanian history and most every question you might have along the way, plus he knows the inns and outs of alternative roads and ways to bypass parts of the inevitable heavy traffic. Definitely recommend booking a trip with him and his tour manager company. As for the places we visited, Peles Castle is probably the highlight, with it's extravagance that surpassed all expectations. The town of Bran and the historical military castle was also quite interesting, while having a traditional Romanian lunch in Brasov, and a stroll through the streets of its old town was certainly something to remember.

A fantastic day, filled with memories of this most dramatic place, the castle Bran and Transylvania... Our guide Florin was indeed the perfect driver and guide, having a great knowledge as well as a geunuine interest and pride of his countrys colorful history. And he most gladly and willingly shared it with us. A perfect guide for a perfect trip into Romanian history.

This tour and the company was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at. And ot did not disappoint. The car was good, but Daniel, our guide, was incredible. Easy going, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. No matter what we asked him, he knew the answer. The tour itself was very good, interesting, and informative. I'm so glad we took this tour and would not like to have missed it. I highly recommend it .

I had the pleasure of interacting with Daniel a lot in his previous role, and know that his extensive knowledge, and friendly helpful attitude could only be a huge asset to someone seeking more knowledge and tours in Bucharest and Romania. We had planned to hire a car or travel by train but decided to treat ourselves to a personal guide and we're so pleased we did. Daniel is a great guide (as well as being an excellent driver) - he is so knowledgeable about all things Romanian (and we quizzed him a lot!) and he guided us through some amazing sights and locations including the beautiful Sighosoara, Sibiu and Cluj as well as a monastery and an incredible salt mine. Absolutely fabulous experience hugely enhanced by our easy going guide, Daniel.

What an educational day! Daniel was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide as he drove us to the Bear Sanctuary, Dracula's Castle, and Brasov. My friend and I were a bit surprised at the cold, snowy weather as we arrived at the Bear Sanctuary for our tour. It was a little chilly, but the experience was one of my favorites in Romania - watching the bears and other wildlife here and learning about their stories. Daniel was very knowledgeable about the local areas and easily answered our questions about Romania as well. We also had a wonderful time exploring Dracula's castle and Brasov with Daniel as an informative guide. He took us to a quaint corner restaurant as well with excellent food. On our way back to Bucharest, we were also able to make an impromptu stop at the filming location of Wednesday's castle as well. We had a very memorable and enjoyable day with Daniel as a safe driver and informative guide.

My husband booked this very last minute for my birthday as our original trip had fallen through the night before and we had been let down. I am so glad he did because from picking us up to dropping us off, Alin and Oana were amazing!! They were so friendly and polite, and they made the whole day a fantastic experience. We really could not have asked for anything more. The knowledge they shared with us throughout the whole day was second to none. They really did have us at ease from the first instance.
