- 566margarets0 contributions3 Day Bucharest TourMy husband and I really enjoyed our private tour of Bucharest. Mr. Adrain Ene was a very helpful tour guide showing us, churches, city landmarks and the history. He took us to the Parliament Building, very interesting, we especially enjoyed the outdoor Dimitri Gusti National Outdoor Museum a Unesco site. I would highly recommend David Jalea Transilvania Tour for your next tour.Written November 6, 2024
- 341p_lr0 contributionsA great vacationWe had an amazing trip with our David, can highly reccomend this to anyone going to Romania. We got to see so many fantastic sights and places. Our favorites were Brasov, the fortified church in Prejmer and of course Bran Castle. My son actually saw the castle in the new Beetlejuice movie and remembered it. David was helpful, patient and very knowledgable and was a great guide.Written October 17, 2024
- Coastal6592360 contributionsA Fabulous Cultural and Historical ExperienceI organized a private 12-day tour with David who accompanied us for the majority of our time. In all, it was a wonderful cultural experience and a superbly conducted tour: David provided an in-depth cultural and historical perspective of all the places we visited that included several homestays which enhanced our overall experience. Of particular note, we spent three days traveling off-road in the Carpathian mountains; a truly unforgettable experience. In short, David and Visit Transilvania Travel are fabulous and I would give them my highest recommendation. In fact, my wife and I are coordinating another tour with David for 2025 this time spending time in Bulgaria and the Danube DeltaWritten August 26, 2024
- helereae0 contributionsTrip with private guide – The painted monasteries of BucovinaTrip with private guide – The painted monasteries of Bucovina Duration: 4 days The trip was excellently organized, making the most of the visiting time, our guide being an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about the history and culture of the places visited. He facilitated our introduction to the wonderful space of Bukovina, in the north-east of Romania, for our group of 4 people. First day – Travel Brasov – Gura Humorului. Visit to the Voronet monastery (founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great, with the interior painting from 1496, with the exterior frescoes from 1547, UNESCO monument). We got in touch with the architecture of the Moldovan style and we were fascinated by the famous "Voronet blue". Accommodation at Gura Humorului. Day two – Visits to the Moldovita Monastery (1532 – founder Petru Rares, UNESCO monument), the Museum of Painted Eggs (Relief wax workout in Lucia Condrea art, 1980-2016), the Sucevita Monastery (1583 – founded by Gheorghe Movila, UNESCO monument), the Ceramics Workshops in Marginea (Romanian black ceramics) – Putna Monastery (1466 – founder Stephen the Great (1457-1504), the final resting place for the great ruler of Moldavia, who became a saint). Accommodation in Gura Humorului. Day three – Visits to the Humor Monastery (1530 – founder Petru Rares, with defence tower and surrounding walls, UNESCO monument), the memorial house in Humulesti of the writer and great storyteller Ion Creanga (1837-1889), the Agapia monastery (1642, founder brother of the ruler Vasile Lupu; it is populated since 1803 by nuns, being one of the largest monastic settlements; the nuns' village includes over 300 nuns; The interior painting of the church was made between 1859 and 1862 by the great Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu; Excellent organization of the Museum and the nuns' workshops), Neamţ Fortress (1300-Petru Musat, 1457 – Stephen the Great; one of the oldest and most imposing fortresses of Moldavia, recently renovated). Accommodation at a guesthouse at Lake Bicaz. Day four – The way back to Brasov included a stop at the Dam of the Dimitrie Leonida Hydropower Plant in Bicaz (the dam on the Bistrita River ensures the accumulation of water in the reservoir of over 30 square kilometers, with a water fall of 127 m; it is an achievement of the 1950s-1960s; The hydroelectric power plant was put into operation in 1962, with an installed capacity of 210 MW, capitalizes on water energy), Bicaz Gorges (a monument of nature, protected area, stretches along the Bicaz River, between Bicaz and Red Lake). We thank Visit Transilvania and Mr. David for this incursion into the heart of Bucovina!Written August 19, 2024

- CdnPrairies0 contributionsMedieval Transylvania TourWe did a 6 day private tour with our guide Dan, who provided ample information about what we were seeing, and helped separate fact from fiction. We were able to visit a number of fortified churches, castles, and palaces, which would have been difficult to accomplish on our own in 6 days. The return drive on the Transfagarsan highway was breathtaking at times, and not just because of the four bear sightings!Written July 3, 2024
- D_Traveler50 contributionsGreat overview of RomaniaWe did a tour of the interesting places in Romania (unesco sights). We had 2 nights in the countryside in rural villages which gave us an insight to the traditional romanian life and the rest of the nights in modern or historic cities. We saw impressive sights like Corvin castle, painted churches, wooden churches, Merry cemetery, bran castle, alba iulia fort, peles castle, arts and crafts, and much more. David was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was passionate about the Romanian culture and history. It was as if we had a personal historian with us. If we had concerns, he was able to accommodate us. The food was great but they definitely eat a lot of pork. The traditional food is very hearty and savory. The trip gave us a great overview and we would definitely do the tour again.Written May 5, 2024
- Abelardo0070 contributionsTransylvania, a wonderful region with very nice people proud of their historyHIGH POINT: Our guide, DAVID. Excellent, knowledgeable, kind, prudent driver, flexible to accommodate changes in how we went through the planned itinerary. TOUR PLAN: All highlights were educational and the awesome scenery was every day surprising us. No boring time. We appreciate that he showed us the places to buy souvenirs but no push on us to buy something. ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS: Enyoable, as expected, with the bonus of experiencing other types of food then that we are used to. We are a 77 years old couple and it was a private tour. We highly recommend the company (that I found searching in internet) and the guide to visit that part of Romania as well as others.Written May 1, 2024
- Cheri H0 contributionsGreat Transylvania 4-day TourDavid came through for us when our other tour guide fell off a week before our departure. David put together a four day tour of Transylvania, including all the Vlad/Dracula highlights that we requested. He was extremely responsive and called us with details. Very knowledgeable about history, architecture and culture, David provided an insight into Romania’s democratic system after growing up in communism. I would highly recommend Visit Transylvania Tours. David arranged airport pickup and drop off for us, although we didn’t use the drop off.Written October 10, 2023
- Kristina49270 contributionsNew places to visit, amazing castles, historyI wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional tour you led recently. Your depth of knowledge and your evident passion for the history and cultural significance of the area truly brought our tour to life. Your ability to weave together interesting facts, stories, and context made every stop along the tour not only educational but deeply engaging. Your enthusiasm was contagious, sparking curiosity and encouraging questions which you answered with remarkable expertise and depth. Furthermore, your approachability and warm demeanor made it comfortable for everyone to engage, regardless of their initial knowledge level on the subject matter. Your professional yet friendly attitude is a testament to your dedication and skill in your craft. I was also particularly impressed with how you handled the logistics of the tour; everything seemed to flow seamlessly, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the experience without any distractions. Thank you for being considerate to all the members of the group, ensuring that each one of us had a personal and enriching experience. It is evident that you put a lot of thought and effort into making the tour not only informative but also enjoyable and accessible for everyone. The tour with you has been a highlight of our trip, leaving us with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the rich tapestry of history and culture that envelops the region. - Seaside156512968900 contributionsBeautiful castle tour with a knowledgeable guideMy friend and I enjoyed a nice day with our tour guide David exploring the castles Peles and Bran as well as the Prejmer fortified church in one day. It was a very interesting tour with a guide who knows a lot about the country and its history. Also, he never got tired of answering our questions. :-) We were picked up from our hotel and David brought us back safe and sound including a little tour by car through Brașov. Tickets to the sights were not included but after we had bought the tickets, David guided us through the rooms and explained everything in detail to us. Highly recommended.Written August 28, 2023
- KelliShoe0 contributionsUNESCO tourMy friend and I opted to take the UNESCO tour because I have wanted to see the painted monasteries for years. This tour showed me so much more than that and allowed me to get a stronger understanding of the art, history, and culture of Romania. I am so glad we went and highly encourage anyone to consider this tour if they want a personalized and personable experience in a unique country!Written July 19, 2023

We were a group of 25 hikers visiting Romania for the first time. We used “Visit Transilvania Travel” based in the beautiful city of Brasov, for our Hiking and Cultural tour. We as a group cannot speak highly enough of this company, managed by David who guided our every move, paying attention to personal requests and detail. We had professional mountain and cultural guides, all of whom spoke perfect English. We were provided with a very comfortable tourist bus (coach) for our ten day trip and even the driver, Marianne, spoke English. All accommodation was first class, being comfortable, clean and well staffed 3 and 4 star hotels. The whole trip was costed fairly and reasonably. We would recommend Transylvania, Romania as a wonderful holiday destination, for its beauty, history and charm, especially if Dracula is your thing. There is so much to see and do with delightful people to help you along the way. If contemplating a visit to this fairyland area of Romania with its stunning towns, villages, castles and palaces, we recommend that you look no further than “ Visit Transilvania Travel” for an amazing experience. Can’t wait to return!

My partner and I just got home from the most amazing trip we ever took and we have been on a lot of trips in the past. We flew to Bucharest, Romania and spent 5 days on our own there and intended to return and spend the last two days there before returning home to the USA. Our wonderful tour guide and driver, David Jalea of Visit Transylvania Tour Company, picked us up at our hotel in Bucharest on October 11 for a private 8 day tour of Transylvania and Buccovina for the painted monasteries.
He was always on time and became a good friend immediately. We gave him in previous emails our wants in addition to his basic tour and he adjusted everything to our liking. He quickly realized we enjoyed the local churchs and fortresses besides following in Vlad Tepes footsteps and he made it all happen. When the trip got closer to the last day, we found out that the Covid cases in Bucharest were rising and there was talks of a lock-down there, David could tell we were a little nervous about going back there so he suggested a 2 day extension on his tour and he extended our stay in Brasov and built an itinerary that we never would have done otherwise and it was amazing! He took good care of us, booked and took us for our Covid test 3 days prior to our flight as required and drove us to the airport at the end of the 10th day with him. He made us have a safe and wonderful trip where as is could have went so different had we stuck to our original plan.
We thank him and plan to return some day and. of course contact our now goo friend, David. Ten thumbs up

Had a fantastic 5 day 4 night tour of Transylvania with guide David! He showed us the “usual” Peles Castle, Bran Castle and so much more! The 13th century fortified church at Prejmer, the fortress of Rupei, the village of Viscri, home to a cottage owned by King Charles, having become king 2 days before our visit, the lovely walled city of Sighisoaro, the medieval city of Sibiel. David included a home farm visit in Sieben and a drive through alp like mountain villages. There was a fair amount of driving but the benefit was staying all nights in Brasov and having the old town restaurants to try each night. From picking us up at the airport and dropping us off in Bucharest, he was an excellent guide with perfect English! His tour was longer, more inclusive and less expensive than the “add on” Viking tour we could of signed up for before our Danube river cruise. So glad we chose David’s Visit Transylvania tours!

Me and my husband had a three day private tour with David Jalea. The tour exceeded all our expectations. David has a deep knowledge and understanding of history of the region and knows how to present it in an engaging way. David was very attentive to our needs, flexible in our schedule and made our trip pleasurable. We had a chance to explore the beautiful historic city of Brasov, visited Peles Castle, Bran Castle the village of Viscri, and so much more. David introduced us to Romanian cuisine and some good restaurants. David has an excellent English and we had some very interesting discussions which helped us understand the country's past and present.
In coming to Romania we had a mission trying to find my husband's family roots. David was instrumental in our success. Even before we arrived he found the house where the family lived and the grandfather's grave. He went with us to the municipality where we found my husband's birth records.
We can not recommend David high enough. He is very attentive and communicates promptly. We will keep a fond memory of our trip.

To be honest I’d never had a private tour but David Jalea was excellent. Friendly, spoke perfect English and was very flexible and accommodating throughout the tour.
The trip was bespoke as we wanted to see brown bears in their natural habitat. Thankfully, with the guidance of a professional ranger we were taken to a spot with a hide where we saw the bears.
We only had a 5 day trip but managed to see so much of Romania including the Parliament Palace in Bucharest and most of the famous castles and fortified churches around Transylvania including Bram castle and Peres castle in Sinaia
Overall, a wonderful experience and I would recommend a trip to Romania and certainly using David as your tour guide.

We had an amazing experience on our 7 day private tour with David. Everything was well organised and David was a very knowledgeable guide and accommodated our requests from adding an extra day to include a bear watching evening while in Brasov to detouring to take us to see village architecture. It was a fast paced tour with lots of miles to cover but the car was very comfortable and we had enough time in each location. Romania is beautiful and there is so much to see, it was well worth getting all the way to Buccovina to see the beautiful monasteries. Would highly recommend this agency.

I booked a private tour with the company from Tuesday-Friday. Planning the trip was easy through email and I always got a very quick response back with good planning tips and ease to make an itinerary for the short trip. I was promptly picked up at the airport with excellent communication and brought to Transylvania. The three guides I had told me lots of historical information, they all were extremely knowledgeable and gave great tours of the sights we visited. We did everything on my list plus extras once I got there and saw more that I was interested in. I was on time to everything and didn't feel rushed. It was a great company to work with!

My partner and I did a private tour with David Jalea of Visit Transylvania for 10 days in October, 2021
It was wonderful. David spoke perfect English and was a good Freind right off the bat He customized our tour to our liking and picked the best and unique accommodations in all 4 villages. Each was different and we loved them all. Perfect service, location and food as well
David made us feel safe during this crazy time of Covid and took perfect care of us. What more can you ask for in a guide?
We are home now and thrilled to have had our Romanian experience. It was way more than just Dracula. David showed us a side of Transylvania that we never would have found out about on our own
We both thank him again and we are now ambassadors to our friends to visit Romania 😀

After much research we chose Visit Transilvania Tours for our 4 day private tour. David Jalea was our driver and guide. We visited castles, fortresses and enjoyed many sites Transylvania has to offer. Transylvania is not just about Dracula and the region has much to offer tourists and David showed us the true Transylvania. The hotel Bella Muzica was central in Brasnov with easy walking distance to many restaurants. W always felt safe with David and we thank him for his kindness and care during our tour with him. We would highly recommend David and his company to those wishing to enjoy Transylvania.
