- AnitaAlmere0 contributionsDo the tour to get a good vibe of the cityWe took the morning tour on our second day in Bucharest. This was a very good idea. You immediately get a feel for the city. You get a better sense of direction and you look at the buildings around you with a different perspective. Especially if you know the stories behind it. The walk is doable. We had Alex as a guide, who did a great job. Very sympathetic man and speaks good English. As a recommendation, he gave another tip, to visit Ceaușescu's house. That is what we have done.Written October 3, 2024
- Maryjbh20 contributionsGreat bike rental serviceWe rented bikes for one day. The bikes were good for exploring the city, pick up and delivery went smooth, and communication with Alex on Messenger was excellent!Written September 23, 2024

- robertwhytex0 contributionsReally good tourWe had an lovely experience on the walking tour of Bucharest! The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories about the city’s rich history, from its medieval past to the Communist era. Highlights included the stunning Romanian Athenaeum, the imposing Palace of the Parliament, and the vibrant Old Town. The blend of architectural styles and cultural landmarks made the walk visually captivating. The pace was perfect, allowing us to take in the sights without feeling rushed. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a deeper connection to Bucharest’s history and culture. Truly a memorable experience!Written September 11, 2024
- Fubarman0 contributionsGreat tour of BucharestWe had the pleasure of Alex to take us around Bucharest. He was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he answered all our questions and was both informative and engaging on the walking tour. Would recommend this trip to everyone coming to Bucharest as you get to see the place, get your bearings and learn about the history of the city and Romania.Written September 5, 2024
- Npk920 contributionsGreat walking tour! Exactly what I needed to see Bucharest in one day!I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour of Bucharest. Horia was our guide and he did a great job showing us around the top landmarks and buildings in the city. I learned a lot about this city and the country’s history during this tour so a big thanks to him for the insight he shared with us. This walking tour last about 3 hours or so but there’s a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and wear sunscreen if it’s sunny. Overall it was a very nice tour that introduced me to Bucharest, I’m glad booked it. Highly recommended especially if you only have 1 day to see Bucharest. - NolanWritten September 3, 2024

- miras2330 contributionsGood introduction of BucharestFun walking tour around streets of Bucharest. You hear a bit about the history of the city, culture, architecture, food. You walk along the streets, through the parks, see the huge Parliament, beautiful fountain. Great city, will definitely come backWritten September 1, 2024

- NvrStop0 contributionsWant to understand Romanian history and culture over the last 100 years, and why it is so poor today? Take this tour!Alex was an excellent guide, describing Communism in Romania from its philosophical inception to the rise of Ceauşescu, the external and economic reasons for his initial popularity, reasons (internal & external) for his fall, and then the final days leading to his execution. Along the 5km walk, he pointed out historically relevant buildings. These included buildings and boulevards not only relevant to communism, but also Romanian culture and history. At 36, he is too young to have lived through the early days, but definitely was alive through the decline and slow reinvention of his country. He is well-read and well-traveled, knowledgeable about other countries and architecture. His enthusiasm for his subject is infectious. On the day of our tour, it was particularly hot weather, so he altered the time of the tour well in advance to address this. He stopped when members of our party needed a cold drink, were tired or needed a toilet. In short, the tour could only have been better if it had been a little cooler weather. Alex could not be improved upon.Written August 14, 2024

I did the Bucharest Half-day City Bike Tour with Lucia and loved it. Meeting up with her in the morning was easy, she communicated well beforehand, and she gave clear instructions for following her on the bike; once the tour had started, she was attentive to my interests, interspersed the city's and the country's history with personal stories to bring it alive, showed me a ton of places which I would never have discovered on my own, and gave me good recommendations for things to see and do further. I would recommend Bike the City to people who want to take a break from the museums and immerse themselves in the city, and I would highly recommend Lucia as a guide.

I really loved this tour. Our guide was really friendly and was able to explain how different parts of the city were developed over the years. The cycle was easy enough and we stopped at a really cute cafe on the river where you can grab a hot drink or margarita. Id recommend this tour on your first day so you can see where everything is in the city.

It’s absolutely a best way to get to know any European city- the bike tour. We had one of the best in Bucharest with Bike the City. Our guide, Alex, was very experienced, attentive and erudite. We saw the old city and the new, we talked about history, politics, economy and many other interesting issues concerning the country. It was a great journey! Thank you very much Alex! We didn’t even suffered much from the heat :)).

We were fortunate enough to have a weekend trip planned as we took advantage of the weekend road closures around the city. Lucia our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and people of her country. We had 9 cyclists in our group and pavements and cycle paths with only short stints on roads. Cycle helmets were available if required and we stopped at all the relevant historic sights to immerse ourselves in to the history. Bucharest is not an old city with most of the architecture being 19th century or communist 20th century. The 4 hour trip includes a 30 minute stop for coffee and cake if you would like it and the pace was very relaxing. Most ages and fitness levels would manage this ride without problems.

We booked this tour whilst in Bucharest on a short city break. Booking was straight forward. Lucia was our guide and she communicated with us prior to the tour starting to confirm meeting place and time etc.
Bikes were available when we turned up and we were given a bottle of water and a snack which was appreciated.
The tour was around 4 hours and took in key aspects of the city, predominantly the old town but also some of the outlying areas.
Lucia was very informative about the history of Bucharest (and Romania) and tailored this around the sights visited during the tour.
We stopped for a refreshment near the river mid way through the tour. Lucia also asked throughout the tour whether anyone had questions and to ensure we were enjoying it and getting everything from it and any questions we may have.
We left a gratuity at the end of the tour as we thought it was excellent and therefore represented this.
Thanks for a great day Lucia!

Such an enjoyable tour. Very interesting and knowledgeable guide, we learned about Bucharest and Romania’s history in short stops around the central area of the city. Travelling by bike meant we could visit more areas. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I opted for a bike tour on my first day on Bucharest which turned out to be a great choice. Our tour guide Horia was extremely informative and patient with us answering any questions we had. The relaxed pace on the bike allowed us to really take in the sights and sounds of this great city. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Bucharest for the first time.

Unfortunately, the CEC Palace is not open for tours. It is now the headquarters of CEC Bank, the oldest savings bank in Romania. Completed in 1900 on the ruins of a 16 th century monastery, it was built in eclectic style. The entrance features an arch supported by two pairs of columns in composite style. The four corners are decorated with gables and coats of arms and ending in Renaissance domes. Altogether there are five cupolas. A magnificent structure not to be missed.

We had an excellent time with Bike the City and Andre as our guide. Andre was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about Bucharest and the history of his country. It was fascinating to hear how Bucharest/Romania has changed from someone who lived and survived the communist days. And doing a bike tour is the best way to get to know most of the city in a short period of time. Walking is too slow :) We absolutely recommend this tour.

Is the route mainly on roads or bike lanes/ parks. I am travelling with a nervous cyclist and so am looking to avoid roads, if possible. Also, how strenuous is this activity, and is it okay for beginners?
Written May 14, 2019
Sorry.....didn’t answer all the questions. Perfect for beginners or the not so fit. No hills all flat.
