    Really enjoyed
We did the tour with Cristina Ene as a guide. She is very nice and speaks very good English. The tour is well designed and there is a lot of very pertinent and interesting information about life in communist Romania.

Understanding the City Bucharest is today
I find tours helpful in understanding a country whilst trying to compress centuries of history into a few days. Definitely helped in appreciating Bucharest sites and people whilst visiting. Cristina did a great job impartiality providing the background with her anecdotes. Thank you.

    Rainy Bucharest still Best Bucharest
Emmy tour was able to explore rainy Bucharest! While we weren’t able to walk and see all the sites as part of the itinerary, Christina was able to make the tour worth it anyway. I learned a lot! I know that because I was able to explain things to several family members and friends later. That’s the sign of a good teacher! Tour was worth it!

    Great tour!
Christina was a very good guide, very friendly and knows a lot about Bucharest! We had a lot of fun, even under the scorching sun. It's not too long, just enough to learn about the communist period of Bucharest. We would totally recommend it!

    A great experience !
We booked this tour to learn more about life during communism in Romania (Bucharest). Our tour guide was Christina. She was fantastic. With great enthousiasme she told us about communism in general and her personal story’s about this subject. The conflicts, contradictions, expectations for the future. We were all very impressed. She took time telling us about communism and was willing to answer all our questions. I can highly recommend this tour (and hopefully you will get Christina as your tour guide). One of the best tours I I’ve been on.

    Wonderful Experience! Highly Recommend
I had an incredible experience on this tour - one of the best I've ever been on. Our tour guide, Cristina, was absolutely fantastic. She expertly led us through the history of the communist regime during the Ceausescu years, providing us with a thorough and unbiased understanding of the key events and ideas that defined the era. I highly recommend taking this tour if you want to truly grasp the reality of Bucharest, as there is no better way to understand the city than by exploring its past. Cristina's insights and knowledge made this an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for years to come.

Brilliantly informative walking tour about its dark communist past
What an informative walking tour. Our guide was brilliant and had so much information in his head. We did not walk that far but the tour took three hours as we stopped to hear all about why they city looked as it did.

    Incredible
This tour is a must do for anyone interested in history. Cristina did a phenomenal job explaining the context of life under communism in Romania. She answered questions extremely informatively and is a real subject matter expert. Would give more than 5 stars if I could!

We signed up for this tour a few months ago excited, but at the same time unsure as to what we would see and learn. After going on this tour with Cristina, I can tell you that the tour was exceptional. Our guide was so knowledable, so informative, and so helpful. If you want to learn about the Jews of yesterday and today in Bucharest and Romania, then this tour is a MUST.

We will recommend this to all our friends who venture to Bucharest!!

We spent 3 hours with Marius walking through areas of Bucharest that represent the former Jewish neighborhoods of this city. There are 8 Synagogues left for a city that used to support 80. With a community that large there are many examples of the lifestyle the Jewish community led while living here. We especially enjoyed the Bauhaus designed buildings by Jewish architects.

Highly recommended. Marius is a great guide. Clear English and interesting explanations. THE way of learning about the Jewish past of Bucharest. Today hardly any Jewish life left. Beautiful synagogues, and the influence of Jewish architects in the Bucharest landscape.

I was making a quick connection in Bucharest. I had 6 hours to spend and wanted to learn more about the Jewish life that was once was here, visit the synagogues and museums. I booked this tour the night before on Trip Advisor not knowing what to expect. Marius was waiting for me exactly where I was instructed to meet him. I got lucky since I was the only person that booked this tour for that day. Marius stayed with me for the majority of the day and we spend time seeing every synagogue in Bucharest. He knows everyone at the entrances and it was great having Marius taking care of everything. We tried going to the Orthodox Jewish cemetery but it was closed. My day ended with Prayers at the Chabbad house and a great hot kosher dinner. Chabbad rocks!

Highly recommend this tour.

We visited Bucharest in October. We had a fascinating two hour tour, with Andrea. The guide knows well, the history of the Jewish neighborhood and gives us a complete picture of Romania, in general. We also received tips for places to visit and shopping.... Highly recommended

Exploring Jewish history is a must for everyone especially for a Jewish person. I was thrilled when I met a couple in Bucharest at the Parliament tour and then told me about this particular tour. I immediately signed up. I was not disappointed. I received an email the day before from Marius, the tour owner. He let me know the details of the meeting place, the name of my guide and her telephone number and sent a link for the google map location. I really appreciated this communication and attention to detail. Cristina, my guide, did an excellent job of guiding me around (I was the only person on this particular day.) and answering all of my questions. We were able to visit the beautiful Choral Synogogue, which is a must, and listen to the guide there as well. We then walked all around the original Jewish Street and Cristina filled in all the details. Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the other Synogogue which is now the Jewish Museum as it had already closed. The 2 PM start time was an experiment from the usual 10 AM start. Despite, not being a morning person, I think an earlier time would be better so that all can be visited prior to their closing hours. All in all, I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who really wants to explore the Jewish history of Bucharest and Romania.

Hello, Thank you for joining the Jewish tour of Bucharest, and for your kind words. Indeed, we are struggling a bit at the moment to make our schedule available to travelers who are not early-morning people, but also work around the existing schedules of the synagogues, which are usually only open in the morning. We will be updating the schedule for next year. Thank you for your honest feedback. Marius

Christina was fabulous. She was very flexible as some in our group were running late and she waited before beginning the tour, but gave us extra time afterwards. She’s very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Bucharest Jewish community and pointed out interesting sights that we would not have found on our own. She also showed us examples of a variety of architectural styles. I highly recommend this tour!

A fascinating walk down narrow lanes reminiscent of days of old passing the astonishing Choral Temple, the incredible story of the Jewish Comunity in Bucharest before the WWII. Marius takes us into time travel that is fascinating. A good trip for the history buff. I recommend this tour (and the Communist one also!), to everyone that comes to Bucharest!
