What to expect
The Walking Tour of Alternative Bucharest will explore the many different aspects of street art and urban culture alongside the history of the city. Enjoy a journey in time as you witness the city and all it's magnificent landscapes and locations that tell a story about how it came to be and where it might be headed to. Continue your journey to the Street Delivery Festival, a symbolic gathering of civil society activists. One of their main missions is to transform the city into a better living space for humans, rather than cars, and also to promote the street art movement in a country where it's still largely frowned upon. Discover one of Bucharest's untouched areas, where it feels as if time stood still. It is also a location where you will explore the history of the city and its urban development: from its humble beginnings to its avant-garde architecture of the inter-war period.

Educational and fun at the same time

Dana went way beyond and above the standards of traditional or alternative tours that you are used to. She was willing to discuss politically incorrect subjects, get you to places you otherwise wouldn't be able to see and give you interesting insights of how Bucharest functions behind the curtains. Recommend this to everyone who doesn't want to just take pictures for the instagram, but is rather interested in culture, politics and real city life in Bucharest.

Dear Ivan, coming from the most alternative traveler I've met to date, your feedback means a lot! Thank you as well for the insights into your culture, I can't wait to visit :) Wish you many more alternative experiences to come! All the best, Dana

Awesome and informative way to spend the day!
Jun 2019 • Friends
LOVED this tour. Seeing all of the murals across the city was a great way to spend the day, and you leave with some AMAZING photos! We were super lucky on our day, and actually caught one of the artists! Not going to lie, the best part about the day was our guide, Dana. She absolutely went out of her way to help us out, answer our questions, and make sure we were surviving the heat! She even gave us a list of each of the sites and their artists later, so we could spend the time enjoying the work and the stories behind them instead of rushing to take notes/ write down the cool ones I wanted to show my friends later, AND she sent a list of things to do on our last day. Super job on her part. I also loved that we got to go through the university and the gift shops at the end. Overall great trip, highly recommend to anyone coming to Bucharest. Of the three that I did, this was my favourite.

Bucharest Alternative Walking Tour
Jun 2019 • Solo
I signed up for and did the Bucharest Alternative Walking Tour with Dana on June 18, 2019. I strongly recommend this tour. Dana did a phenomenal job taking our group to off the beaten path areas, museums, cafes, churches, neighborhoods and included a tour of many of the street art scenes. Dana’s knowledge and great sense of humor made for a really fascinating tour of Bucharest. Don’t miss this!

Top-notch city tour
Apr 2019 • Business
Dana gave us a very interesting walking tour of the city. She knows all the nooks and crannies - she has such a great eye for detail. Great photo opps, but even better were all the insights she provided on culture and history. Her English was fantastic. Her tour was the highlight of our trip.

Great alternative tour of the city
Jul 2018
We had a great tour with Dana. She took us through interesting part of the city and presented both street art as well as different architecture styles. Dana was very knowledgeable, and the tour was full of interesting stories and information. She also gave us many tips for touring the city later on. On top of all she accommodated our wishes and interest, so the tour felt like fit to us more than just standard script. Highly recommended.

Beautiful city walk with an enthousiastic guide
Oct 2017 • Solo
On Monday morning I was lucky to find Tudor available to show me the hidden alleys, courtyards and different neighborhoods with all kinds of graffiti. We not only visited the center with it's common French architecture but also streets with British and Turkish influences. Bucharest is truly a world class destination to be inspired with illustrations and graffiti. Tudor keeps you curious every time you going around the corner.

Street Art and More
Nov 2017 • Friends
Just moved to Bucharest and wanted to see a bit of the city. During our walking tour we saw beautiful and interesting street art while learning a bit about Romania's history. Our guide, Livia, also shared some local places to eat, drink and shop. It was a great afternoon getting to know our new home!

"Good morning Kellie! Again, welcome to Bucharest. I hope my tips on the city were useful to you and your group of fun and interesting new "bucharestians". Thank you so much for taking the time to drop me a line. Street Art is just one of the many personas of Bucharest, so I hope you will continue to discover my city: there are markets to see, pubs to discover, underground theater, decaying amazing architecture, and so much more Kind regards Livia"

Bucharest's Underground Art Scene
Oct 2017 • Friends
It was a very interesting walking tour in areas we don't think of visiting. It gives a lot of insights into today's art scene in Bucharest and the work the civil society is undertaking to save the architectural and cultural heritage of the city.
I would have extended the tour by 30 minutes in order to explore more of the Old City graffiti art. I would definitely recommend this tour if you would like to explore Bucharest through the residents' points of view.

Nov 2017 • Solo
In only 3.5 hours, Emma will submerge you into the history of the city and its cultural, political and artistic life. You'll see the neighborhoods, court yards and street art which you could easily pass by without making a notice. You get to know the meaning of popular graffiti themes and learn the story behind the the fall and rise of ROM chocolate bar. After Emma's the tour, Bucharest no longer felt like a stranger to me.

Hope to see you around again and best of luck with your cinematic and turistical travels!
