- W8628DRruthb00Private tour Jewish QuarterOur guide, Laura, was enthusiastic, personable, knowledgable and spoke excellent English. She was open to our questions, and very informative. She took us to a Jewish theatre and Synagogue where we met some very interesting people who were old enough to remember a lot of the Jewish history of the last 50 years. We also toured the neighborhood where Jews lived but are gone today. Laura had a great attitude and excellent English. We were sorry when the tour ended because it was so enjoyable.
- F9468BGmichaelg00The Best of RomaniaTogether with my wife, I operate small group tours for Australian clients under the Tripwired Tours label. After a comprehensive reconnaissance tour of Romania organized by Diana Condrea of Uncover Romania in 2019, we had a tour group booked for spring 2020 but owing to border closures we had to cancel. Diana has been an absolute jewel throughout this tough time, keeping in touch, keeping us up to date and best of all she has managed to return 100% of the deposit we paid through her to various hotels in Romania. This is a stellar performance, and the kind of measure that restores confidence among travelers in this time of uncertainty. As soon as we are able to take a group to Romania we'll be back there, it's a part of Europe unlike any other, and of course we'll be organizing our tour through Diana.
- da77gu00jewish Bucarestwe had a very intersting tour with a local woman guide that really knew the theme and took us to all interesting places, unfortunately some sinagogues were closed but we warmly recommend the tour
- jerroldl61300private tour guides by Uncover Romania -- excellentDuring my recent trip to Romania, I had opportunity to hire private tour guides with Uncover Romania for the Jewish Bucharest tour and the Communist Bucharest tour. The guides were very pleasant and knowledgeable, and everything was arranged very well.
- MichaelM_traveler00Peles, Brasov, Sibiu and Horseback Riding in Carpathian MountainsDiana was phenomenal both in willingness to orchestrate a custom itinerary involving a day of history led by Diana to Peles and Brasov followed by two days in the Carpathian Mountains horseback riding. Diana has an incredible knowledge of history of Romania, definitely more than I could absorb and left me with a desire to learn more about Romania's history upon return home. Peles was amazing an we left early enough that we basically got to tour the castle alone! (A bit of luck thrown in as well to make that part occur.) The two days in the mountains horseback riding was incredible, and a bit more adrenaline than originally anticipated on the horses! The scenery was very beautiful and the family who managed the horses and mountain hut were warm and welcoming and prepared delicious meals for us upon return each day. Highly recommend booking with Uncover Romania, really great experience.
- SkyboyTel_Aviv00Reliable agencyI used this agency to book two, one day guided tours for my family. Both times We got very profound tour guides and tours as we like. Communication was always clear and reply's prompt. I would definitely recommend this agency.
- Sonja K00Private tour of castles near BrasovI highly recommend Uncover Romania. and Diana. In May 2019 I had to go to Brasov for a business trip.. I decided to go a day earlier and visit castles around Brasov. It was a private tour which Diana organised just for me. We visited Bran and Peles castles and Sinai Monestry. Beautiful experience, with Diana who was very knowledgeable and professional but also very pleasant and charming.
- sgold5100Wonderful personal tour with EmiliaShe took us everywhere of significance to our interest and shared our enthusiasm all along the way. Excellent tour!
- JPdiver00Walking tour of BraÅŸov - brilliant!Spent a wonderful few hours walking round Brasov with Carmen. She is extremely personable, and knowledgeable and really brought the history of the city to life. I was a little hesitant about doing the tour with my parents when it was below freezing, with significant snow on the ground, but this was not an issue, and she chose walking routes that were clear and utilized the time we spent inside the Weavers Bastion and Basilica Neagra to great effect. It was great to hear about the research she is doing into everyday life in the medieval city, and Carmen was able to share more detail and provide deeper insights than I have not heard from guides on other tours. In short - it was great!
- ka87sw00Amazing day!!We did the Transfagarasan Highway day trip. Fantastic day with lots of beautiful scenery and interesting information! Diana was great throughout the process. She gave me all the information and details prior to booking and was patient with all my questions. On the day of the tour, Diana and her partner were fantastic and it was lovely spending time with them whilst learning about beautiful Romania!
- Mike M00Top day in Bucharest! We were in Brasov as part of a motorcycle tour from the UK. On our 'rest' day we wanted to do a walking tour of Bucharest's Old Town and visit the Palace of Parliament. Diana made it very easy to do business with Uncover Romania. She quickly organised a bus and a guide, at reasonable expense, and we had a very good experience. Emilia, our highly knowledgeable guide, was an absolute star. Even though many of her responses to our questions began with the caveat "it's complicated" Emilia provided us with thoroughly entertaining and detailed explanations of the city's, and Romania's, rich history.Happy customers? Yes! Recommended? Highly!
- jasecllc00Diana CondreaWe had the tour with Diana and a driver. Diana has a good knowledge of the sites and the history. She made it a very worthwhile tour.
- Amy V00Sibiu walking tourDiana was our guide for the Sibiu walking tour. She is very informative and was willing to answer our many questions about Sibiu and the history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone new to Sibiu or visiting for the first time.
- Anton O00Insightful FagarasWe went on the Transfagarasan tour and it was amazing! The guide, Diana, was so knowledgeable and interesting to listen to that you could clearly feel how much she loves and cares about her homeland. She is really devoted to her business and a nice person too! She and Radu, who was our driver, answered all our questions about Romania with patience and enthusiasm (even political ones). The drive itself was very comfortable and smooth, so we had enough time to see every beautiful spot we passed. I definitely recommend Uncover Romania to anybody who likes a personal touch or keen on learning new stuff!
- critchmatt00Private walking tourWe sent a fantastic time with Diana on a private walking tour of historical Bucharest - really informative, we learnt the history went thru old quarter viewed the parliament- Diana has a wealth of knowledge which she shared in a friendly way - highly recommend Matt

We had an amazing and very informative tour and I strongly recommend it to anyone in Romania. It provided a very detailed explanation of a part of modern world history that is not frequently talked about. The itinerary is full of interesting sites and we were able to see so much. All the sites are important to the topic and very interesting to visit. All relevant background information about the topic was given, as well as many touching stories of average peoples experience during Communist Romania. Anyone who would take the tour would strongly enjoy, appreciate and learn a lot from this tour, weather or not they know a lot about Communist Romania before taking the tour. Diana, who was our guide, was very friendly, very well informed and very helpful. She explained the background and context of relevant political events very well. She explained the relevance of each site we saw very clearly and with great detail. She answered all of our questions very well, helping us to know a lot more about the topic. She also gave very helpful advice about directions, and good lunch dishes where we went for lunch. This trip would have been amazing with anyone but she made it even better.

My husband and I booked this unique, experiential walking tour of the darker 1980s Ceaușescu-era in Romania's history. Diana was our guide for the day. A keen and well-studied historian, Diana is a fountain of knowledge, as well as continuously inquisitive. She brought the history of Communism to life in this full-day tour, taking us back in time to the embryonic beginnings of Communism in Romania. We were fortunate to begin our tour inside the spectacular Atheneum concert hall, where a music rehearsal was taking place. The importance of the Atheneum, and how its surround of historical frescoes evaded Communist re-painting, was brought to life. I will ensure there are no spoilers in my review, as I want to encourage as many people as possible to take this unique tour. From there, it was on to Revolution Square and environ, as Diana took us through the steps leading up to the 1989 Revolution. Included in the tour itinerary was a visit to the home of the Ceaușescu's, only opened since 2016. From there, it was on to the Militar neighborhood, where we visited the living-museum experience of Ferestroika. Originally, we had hoped to visit the Palace of Parliament - Ceaușescu's gargantuan megalomaniac construction project - but it was closed for private meetings. So Diana offered us the substitute of the Ferestroika tour (for which you can also read my review here on TripAdvisor). This whole day was one I will carry for the rest of my life...it was so deeply thought-provoking, emotionally and viscerally connected, and intellectually stimulating. Couldn't help thinking at times - given how the political climate is shifting around the world at this moment in our own history - if we, as humans, might not be learning from our past. Highly, highly recommended! If I could award this more than 5-stars, I definitely would!!

My wife and I cannot recommend this private tour enough! Our guide, Diana, was personable, punctual, and extremely insightful. You will learn a lot about life under Communist rule in Romania (especially during Ceausescu's dictatorship). All of the sights were visually and historically fascinating. If you book the tour on a day when Primaverii Palace (Ceausescu's home) is closed, be sure to schedule time to see it while in Bucharest. The home richly embodies the lifestyle and aspirations of the dictator and his family. On the tour you will visit Primaverii Palace, Palace of the Parliament, the Athenaeum, "hidden" churches, and other important landmarks. While you can technically see these places on your own, there is nothing like having someone intimate with the culture and history of Bucharest to give you context, share personal stories, and answer any questions you may have. Again, my wife and I highly encourage you to book this tour. You won't be disappointed. Thank you, Diana, for a wonderful experience!

I expected a little bit more from this tour and not only the huge rooms and the balcony. I thought they were going to show us the underground's and tunnels but no.

Hello,
Unfortunately, it's not up to us how the Parliament staff organizes the guided visits. Please consider that our 7 hours tour of Communist Bucharest includes more than this visit, and it's not our fault that this institution chooses to only open a small part of the monument to the public.
Best,
Diana

my guide Diana went above and beyond what I was expecting of the tour. she was great in her knowledge not just of the city but Romania has whole, and did not mind answering questions in regards to all of Romanians history and culture. with a focus mainly on the communist era of Bucharest. the highlights for me where seeing revolution square and seeing Ceaușescuc house. and it ending on the balcony on the parliament. defiantly worth the price!!
