About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 965byl0 contributionsA Very Pleasant Stroll Through ZagrebI deeply enjoyed my personalized walking tour of Zagreb. Karlo, the tour guide, was knowledgeable and took the time to explain the city's history and culture. It was a great way to get acquainted with the city and its people! Hvala ^ (Livie)Written November 21, 2024
- G_and_E_Ison0 contributionsAmazing food and city walking tourWe recently visited Croatia and as with other countries we wanted to do a food walking tour of the city. My opinion is that you not only get to have a look around and (hopefully) get a bit of the history of the place but you also get to eat and drink some local fare. We have done trips like this on an evening or afternoon and the format suits us as typically you don’t then need to also go out for an afternoon / evening meal (dependant on when you book). Sadly when we looked there were not any tours that started on an afternoon. However, we happened to find this tour and were really pleased to learn that our tour guide (Karlo) was able to offer a bespoke tour for us at a time (lunchtime) that suited us. Not only this but the tour itself was BRILLIANT - Much better than tours in other EU cities that we have done. And Karlo was the consummate professional. Very knowledgable and passionate about his cities history and very considerate in choosing food and drinks for us to try. We had a totally amazing time and I would highly recommend Karlo for any trips you want to do in the area (we were so impressed we booked him for a second trip straight away). Thanks Karlo for a couple of truly magical tours. They made our holiday extremely special and we are forever grateful xWritten November 11, 2024
- G_and_E_Ison0 contributionsA brilliant day at the ParkWe booked our trip to Plitvice National Park and Lakes through Trip Advisor having seen favourable reviews on Google. I had casually taken a look at things to do that would get us out of the city and this seemed like a great tour. I didn’t really do too much research about the Park as I wanted it to be a bit of a surprise as to what the unique features of the area were and so I was looking for our guide to explain a little about the park and its history etc. and was just hoping for a nice memorable day away on our vacation (to break up the time we had otherwise allotted to exploring the city itself). To say I wasn’t disappointed with the day we had would be an understatement. We were taken on our Tour by Karlo… owner of Bespoke Croatia Tours. He was a seemingly nice chap who initially made contact with us by WhatsApp to discuss our pending tour. Karlo spoke exceptionally good English and communicated with us very well (from the Pre trip WhatsApp messages he sent us). Prior to attending he explained a few key things about our tour and kept in touch to answer any questions that i had. When we were eventually collected at our hotel and went on our trip it’s needless to say that Karlo was the same in person as he was on messenger. Very articulate, knowledgeable and a really nice guy. He made our trip into the most amazing day out possible. Not only was his knowledge and the information that he offered about the area, informative and interesting, but he had been extremely thoughtful in planning our trip to ensure that every single aspect of the day was just right. And in many things the experience we received was above and beyond what i would hope to expect. The Mercedes car he arrived to pick us up in was new, clean and of a very good standard. Exceptionally comfortable, spacious and tidy. His driving also was impeccable (we had previously taken a trip in Slovenia, which whilst lovely in general, the minibus ride we had felt like an extract from the movie “Taken”). Throughout the journey to the park we chatted about Croatia, the Park itself, the local area and about life in general. As I have said, Karlo was a really personable guy and we felt super at ease in his company. When we got to Plitvice we were not disappointed either. The park is stunning. I won’t say too much about that (perhaps some folks are like me and want to be “wowed” by the surprise), but what I will say is that you won’t be disappointed by the Park itself I don’t think. Prior to our trip Karlo had generously prepared some food for us - initially as it was a rather early start (6am) he had prepared a selection of warm traditional Croatian dumplings for our breakfast, which were delicious. Along with this he had thought to bag us up some sweet and savoury snacks to eat during the walking section of our tour. And lastly he had thoughtfully prepared a picnic lunch for us consisting of traditional Croatian charcuterie style Cured Meat / Cheeses / Sausage. Not only was the selection really, really tasty and lovely (which of course was fab in itself) but we were also surprised to learn that much of what had been packed had been provided / made by Karlo and his family too. Home cured meats and churirzo style sausages along with a tasty chutney preserve that went well really with the flatbreads that Karlo had brought along. We even sat and had a cup of red wine at the Park during lunch that Karlo had thoughtfully brought along. This was a brilliant, brilliant day and I wanted to write this (probably very verbose) review as it’s easy to take all of the effort and additional (not necessarily often thought of) touches that Karlo thought to include for granted. Karlo is a brilliant guide but more importantly he is such a lovely chap, that I wanted to leave him a nice review by way of our heartfelt thanks. If this review serves as a prompt and recommendation for anyone looking to book with Karlo - please do. I am happy to talk to anyone about our day if that helps too… I could not heap enough praise on Bespoke Croatia tours and you won’t be disappointed with a day in Karl’s company. Hope this review is helpful.Written November 2, 2024

- Pumatracker0 contributionsDon’t Pass This Up!This is a spectacular National Park and Karlo was an outstanding guide. He goes beyond to personalize your experience and his knowledge and enthusiasm makes the experience even more enjoyable. - Cvp_70 contributionsStop searching and just….BOOK IT!Karlo was quick to respond from my first contact with him. He is very good at staying in communication up to the day of your excursion. We were picked up promptly at 8 as expected. From the beginning, we felt very comfortable with Karlo and knew we were going to have a great day. Despite it pouring rain the entire day we had a blast! Karlo brought us sandwiches with prosciutto made from his family farm to keep our energy up. He adjusted the hike to our desires and made sure to take plenty of pictures of us along the way. The car rides passed like a breeze with Karlo’s witty banter-he is a great conversationalist! This day was definitely a highlight of our 3 week trip to Europe and one of the best excursions we have ever planned in our 30 years of international travel.Written October 17, 2024
- J9684NBrichardk0 contributionsThe very bestThis tour with Karlo met, no it exceeded, all of our expectations. We started the tour as clients but ended it as friends. Karlo tailored the walking over varied terrain to meet our pace and needs. We learned so much about the history and morphology of the park’s varied and exquisite features. On the trip to the park and on the return to Zagreb, we learned much about the country and about Zagreb. And Karlo shared his own life story and that of his family as did we to him. One of many of the special features of this tour was his sharing of mostly homemade and utterly delicious charcuterie at a picnic spot in the park. He also provided spectacular weather for us ( we know Karlo will get this reference). Karlo is definitely one of the very best tour guides we have encountered on our many years of touring throughout our years of seeing the world.Written October 9, 2024
- andelom0 contributionsAmazing and must see tour in Zagreb!Great tour! Guide was amazing and creative, group small and cheerful and food so as drink was unique! I recommend it to all!Written October 7, 2024
- 567martineh0 contributionsThe best tour.We did two tours with Karlo from Bespoke Croatia and we had a phenomenal time. Two couples from the U.S. Karlo s English is excellent and what a nice genuine gentleman. Reliable and knowledgeable, he took us through Zagreb and it's History. On the second day we had requested to visit Plivice National Park an all day tour from Lagreb. The vehicle he provided was top notch and the visit was amazing. He treated us to a lovely lunch of the local fares. We recommend him very highly.Written October 4, 2024
- ricardomV9837PE0 contributionsNever miss CroatiaOne of the most caring person I ever met. Since he picked us up in Pula to driving us to Zagreb and then showing us the wonderful paradise in Plitvice. Super host, super guide and super person. My family and I enjoyed a lot knowing all the croatian culture from a very studied person like Karlo. And, as a plus, we enjoyed the most in the picnic he offered us in Plitvice with local and farm to table food. Amazing! Karlo is the right person if you go to Croatia and want to know it detailed! Thanks Karlo!Written September 25, 2024
- JSCKDC0 contributionsBeautiful tour with lots of flexibilityThis was our second tour with Karlo and we will book a third if we get the chance to return to Croatia. This full day tour was exactly as described with flexibility throughout as desired. We navigated rain to get most of the plan completed as best able. A second guide joined us in Slovenia which was a great touch to have a local expert.Written September 25, 2024

The best sightseeing tour we’ve done so far! Karlo has been amazing and fulfilled all of our needs. It was the perfect combination of getting to know the history of the city (including seeing all the important spots) and great storytelling. Nothing could have been done better. :)

WOW - our day with Karlo was so great!!! We started with a super comprehensive history of Zagreb (and Croatia in general, per our request) and from there we went on to walk all over the city, learning all sorts of things about it’s past and present. It was clear from the beginning that Karlo is an expert (he has a masters in tourism) and is incredibly passionate about his profession and his city. He really went above and beyond for us and by the end of the day I felt like we were hanging out with a friend. I genuinely plan on getting in touch with Karlo when I return to the city! He also left us with some incredible tips for the rest of our stay in Zagreb and even sent me some tips for our upcoming trip to Slovenia. So yes, I highly recommend booking a tour with him :)

The walking tour around Zagreb was the perfect appetizer to familiarize oneself with the city's ambiance. Right from the airport through the entire ride, Karlo never failed to supply us with exciting details about the places we passed by while simultaneously leaving us craving to know what else was out there. While it was just the beginning, it felt as though we had learned the innermost secrets of Zagreb and tasted its uniqueness compared to other vacation spots in Croatia. Karlo was very keen to keep us happy and even provided a list of tourist spots where we could do some activities and eat. His love for Croatia and welcoming spirit all the more made him the best option for your next tour!

Karlo provides an all around fun and educational experience. He breaks down the history while navigating you through different areas of the city, pointing out significant landmarks, and introducing you to Croatian culture. He also provided suggestions on local restaurants and bars that were amazing and exactly what I was looking for in terms of price and offering of Croatian delicacies.

Karlo is very personable; he takes the tjme to get to know you so that he can tailor the experience based on your interests. His knowledge of the history of Zagreb and Croatia really gave me new insights into the people of the region. Karlo frequently points out the back story behind things/places you see on the tour that you wouldn’t find in a gudebook. He does a good job of pacing the tour; I was surprised at how quickly the time passed.
I highly recommend that you take this tour at the start of your stay in Dubrovnik, because you will want to have time to try all the suggestions that he makes for food, drink, and things to do in Zagreb!

We only had one day at Zagreb and we are very glad we started with Karlo. We were very curious about the history of Croatia and Karlo was really to answer all our questions. Besides the city highlights, he showed us some details of the city that give it a special character. He also gave us more recommendations than we could possibly cover during our stay. We would definitely consider this and other activities to do with Karlo.

Karlo met our group of four English language seniors at our hotel in Zagreb at precisely the reserved time with a friendly and welcoming smile. He started the tour with information about the rich history of our hotel, The Esplanade. He guided us along a beautiful route through parks, past gorgeous fountains and into squares of Zagreb that was made more interesting with his effective use of graphics and images on his iPad. Karlo was pleasant, well informed, enthusiastic and attentive. He was very careful with his pace and found WCs whenever needed. At the end of a tour with Karlo I think you can expect to feel that his fee has been well earned and that you are glad you hired a guide to discover Zagreb from the perspective of a local.

Excellent experience, nice and friendly tour guide went above and beyond even brought me some snacks and tea, explained all the history behind not just zagreb but whole of croatia, walked around and explained cultural and historical significance of everything. Would definitely recommend getting this as when you visit these places yourself without knowing the history or culture behind it you can't truly appreciate it or learn it's significance. Karlo the guide also gave me a list of best restaurants, wines and among other helpful tips.
Would recommend to family and friends and would definitely come back for some day trips to plitvice in the near future.

Bespoke provided an unparalleled opportunity to explore the city of Zagreb hassle-free. We walked through tkalciceva a beautiful and vibrant street in Zagreb. We passed by the stone gate, which is the sacred shrine in Croatia, and it showed us first the bronze map of the upper and lower town, St. Mark’s church, well-known for its brightly coloured tile roof, visited the world's shortest funicular, and the Museum of Broken Relationships, Tunnel Gric, and the main square, the most popular meeting place for locals.
Croatians, on the other hand, are friendly and welcoming people who always smile when you see them.
The places we visited, combined with the knowledge, expertise, and passion of Karlo made my vacation an unforgettable adventure this winter season!

Dear Cristy,
thank you for entrusting us to tailor your whole continental Croatia experience. One of them is of course being the walking tour of Zagreb, a city that truly deserves attention. It was a pleasure to show you the past and the present of my hometown including the hidden parts that the regular tours don't often show. Until next time, stay safe and be well.
