Veritable Varazdin and Tantalizing Trakoscan Castle small group private day tour from Zagreb. Petros tours are smaller in size and more personable, and Petros Tour operator is flexible and accomodating to slot me in at the last minute. Our group size was only 3, and tantamount to an extremely excellent private tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our professional polite local guide Maja is intelligent and a walking encylopedia, and shares a wealth of information of rich historical and cultural facts and figures with us. Maja provides us with the right dose of digestible, informative and educational local tour, without overwhelming / overloading us with excessive information. She also patiently answers all our myriad of questions. Maja speaks excellent English, and is a safe and efficient driver, transporting us in a comfortable and clean new vehicle, in our Northern Captivating and Charming Croatia tour to explore the lush and verdant rolling hills landscape and beautiful baroque small city of Varazdin and fairy tale-like Trakoscan Castle which is rather intact with gorgeous ornate interior furnishings and incredible picturesque view of the spectacular scenic surrounding forest area. Highly recommended local tour from Petros, departing from Zagreb. They provide free pick-up from certain hotels, or from the Meteorological Station. Check out and book this tour or their other day trips too, and kindly tip their well-deserved local guide generously please. Helen Singapore

We weren’t sure whether or not to book this tour, since we had so little time to spend in Zagreb. We are so glad we did. It was a perfectly beautiful day, filled with the gorgeous town of Varazdin, the Trakoscan Castle, and a wonderful exposure to a side of Croatia we hadn’t expected. Our guide, Maya made this an extremely special experience. We were so lucky to be the only two on this small group tour, and especially lucky to spend the day with Maya. Very conversant with the history of Croatia and recent events, Maya also shared typical family life and concerns of Croatians. Maya has multiple university degrees, is extremely knowledgeable and speaks several languages, so yes, she has a lot of knowledge to share. She is also very charming, has a fine sense of humor, and is very willing to modify sights and information to her guests. A lovely day with a gifted guide.

We had a wonderful time with Maya even with rain all day. We walked the town, saw angel museum, and several lovely churches. We stopped on the main square for a quick coffee and toured the farmers market and rest of town. It is one of the best medieval old towns.
We walked up and down to the castle without problems even with continual rain. The castle had several flights of stairs; but not crowded.
Thanks for a great day and special memories!

Maja was a fantastic guide! I had arranged for a small group tour but it turned out to be solo. I appreciated that they didn’t cancel the tour since no one else signed up. Maja was very knowledgeable, communicated well, and adapted to meet my interests. The amount of activities and the time allotted was perfect! I highly recommend this tour!

We went on this excursion with Goran in a van with 4 other people. I cannot say enough about this guide. He's a history teacher an it really shows. His knowledge is incredible and he makes it so interesting adding funny stories all along. The drive to get to Varazdin was lovely. We had a guide tour with a local person. We also had lunch at a very good restaurant close to the castle. The Trakoscan castle was very interesting and also beautiful perched on a hill
With had another tour with this outfit (Petros) and they are absolutely the best

Our tour guide Goran was exceptionally well versed in the history of Croatia and the area covered by the tour. His clear simplified delivery of the tumultuous history clarified many questions I had and really put everything into a rational context of the evolution of Croatia. Visiting Varazdin and Trakoscan were absolutely worth the time and money. Our party of 4 was joined by two other gentlemen and the small group made the experience personal and actually quite fun.

There were several very interesting stops along the way to Trakoscan Castle including the charming village of Varazdin. The highlight of the trip, of course, was Trakoscan Castle. The Castle, grounds and collection are fabulous. Thanks to our very engaging and knowledgeable tour guide we were able to enjoy learning about how the castle was used and defended over several centuries and how its wealthy owners, feudal serfs and soldiers lived. Because many of the museums we visited in Croatia did not have translated exhibits or audio guides, we could not have been happier with our tour guide, Karlo. His English and depth of knowledge was key to how much we truly enjoyed our day trip. Thank you!

How do I contact the host? I now have a hotel reservation at one of the hotels that they pick up at, so I want to arrange to be picked up the morning of the tour.

We will be at Puntijar Hotel Zagreb on August 11, 2019 and our flight will leave at 20:55 that day. Do we have time to take the tour? Is it possible to be picked up from the hotel? Many thanks.

I am landing in Zagreb at 7:30am. I would like to do this tour the same day. Given that your tour is at 9am. Is that enough time?
Hello - My husband and I are arriving to Zagreb at 7:30am on Sunday September 23rd - we are interested in taking this Day Trip tour on the same day (Sunday).
It has it listed on this website that pickup for the tour is 9am. In your experience, is this enough time for us to join your tour (we land at 7:30am at Zagreb airport and would shoot to join the tour at 9:00am)?
Additionally, would there be any place for us to store our luggage? in the car? Thanks.
