About
The history of Skopje starts with the settlements of the Thracians and the establishing the fortress of Scupi. The town was part of the Roman, Byzanatine, Bulgarian and for short notice, of the Serbian countries. The Ottomans will conquer the city in 1392. They will change the name to Uskub and the place will convert into unique of its kind town, which will be called home from numerous Ottomans, Bulgarians and Albanians. In 1912, the city will be liberated from the Ottomans during the First Balkan war and eventually become a part of the Serbian country. During the two world wars will be eventually given to the Bulgarian country, before in the end to became part and a capital of the Macedonian Federation in the Yugoslavian socialistic republic. The city will start growing rapidly in economic and industrial way. Unfortunately a huge earthquake in 1963 has destroyed a huge part of the town, leaving more than 100 000 people without homes.

Excellent!
Jan 2020
A long day (4 hours each way) but so very enjoyable! We were collected by our Guide Ivan, who was super professional & knowledgable, whilst also friendly. A great combination & our group of 3 girls felt very safe in his company.
The drive was very pretty once off the Highway & it was lovely to see some of the Bulgarian/North Macedonian countryside. Ivan was flexible with pitstops according to needs. Skopje is a really interesting place to visit. So much history & it retains a more Eastern feel than its neighbour. The post earthquake regeneration is pretty impressive, certainly a lot of statutes to admire!
Lunch was very pleasant & I loved seeing where Mother Teresa was born.
If you have time whilst in Sofia, this is a great way to spend a day & get a taste of another country. Recommended.

Very interesting
Well worth the money.
The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Picked up from outside our apartment and taken right into the heart of Skopje.
If you decide to take this excursion Remember - your passing into another Country- You will not be allowed to enter without your passport. Unfortunately a couple had to be left at the Bulgarian border as they had not brought them.
Wonderful day out.
Thank you very much.

Great trip to North Macedonia
Dec 2019 • Solo
I was so thankful to this company for running the trip despite the fact that I was the only person going. My guide, Michael, was brilliant. He drove incredibly safely despite the difficult driving conditions (lots of snow and windy mountainous roads). He is clearly an experienced driver.

The views from the road were epic and he stopped frequently to break up the journey at service stations. My guide was very informative and told me lots about Bulgaria and North Macedonia while we travelled.
He then showed me lots of tourist attractions when we arrived in the city including Mother Theresa’s memorial house, museums, statues and the old town. Michael’s English is superb and he explained everything very clearly.

The old town has great shopping options- lots of antique shops, a market and authentic places to eat. You can also visit the mosque in the old town. I bought a painting for a euro and some hand-knitted slippers for around the same price. I also bought a hand-woven carpet for a reasonable price so I was very pleased. The souvenirs were better in Macedonia than in Sofia from what I saw.

The view from the fortress is very picturesque. I took some nice photos of mountains, the mosque and the cross on the hill from here.
The trip lasted for around 12 hours in total and I would recommend it. Thank you 😊

Great, Trouble-Free Trip!
May 2018 • Couples
This Skopje day-trip turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of our two weeks in Sofia. Georgi picked us up at the hotel promptly, then we were off on the road trip. Within a short time it was like we were all old friends. Georgi fielded a variety of questions from us about Sofia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. The border crossings went smoothly and the visit to Skopje was very interesting. We visited the heart of the city and the fortress overlooking it. Georgi knew the identity of the people depicted on the many statues and the story behind each one. Enough restroom stops were included to keep my wife happy. The visit made us interested in seeing more of the city and country. Highly recommended!
