Long drive but worth the trip. Driver was very knowledgeable and explained the history of this fascinating city. Recommended tour

We booked this trip quite last minute because our other trip got cancelled. I’m so glad we ended up on this one instead! Our guide Simon was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - he was really lovely. The pick up ran smoothly and the pre-trip instructions were detailed and helpful. You get loads of time at the Monastery to really explore (I think we had about 3/4 hours there!). Simon gave us hints and tips about what to look out for and explore so we felt prepared when we were let loose to explore! I appreciated the mini tour from Simon at the start and then having ample time to explore on our own, at our own pace. The monastery was beautiful and I enjoyed Boyana Church more than I thought I would, it was a pleasant visit on the way back from the Monastery. All in all a fabulous day out and a great way to spend a good amount of time exploring this beautiful building. Would 100% recommend.

Tuni our guide was great, doing the tour in Spanish and English. He was friendly and helpful. Pick up point easy to find and clear instructions were given. We booked for Rila Monastery and the cave, but also had the chance to visit Boyana church. The tour of the Monastery was really educational about history and religion. The walk to the cave requires a degree of fitness but the trail is beautiful and it's really worth the visit. The Boyana frescos are amazing to see. All in all a day well spent!

My guide Peter was amazing! I was the only guest and he gave a wonderful tour. He covered Bulgarian history, culture, and architecture. We even stopped for some delicious Bulgarian food. What a treat. Enjoy!

Tour guilder Teny is a very professional tour specialist. He not only familiar with Bulgaria’s history but also full of enthusiasm trying to help visitors know more about the history of Bulgaria. Writhing each spot we visited, he talk almost everything about the scenery and prepare a lot of pictures on his I pad. We learn a lot from this trip!

Excellent walking tour with Peter. He showed us many sites and took us on the metro. He told us the history of Sofia and did a great job of choosing places we would like.

I’m so glad we did this tour instead of trying to get to Rila on our own. The bus was comfortable and we had plenty of time at both Rila and Boyana. Definitely a good value.

We went on a two-hour walking tour with Peter and found it to be a great introduction to the city’s complex history - I don’t think we’d have understood what we were looking at without his help. Peter was very friendly and professional and the tour was the perfect length and level for us as newcomers.

The excursion to Rila and Boyana is worthy to do, as these are very important religious and historical places. Our guide, Maria, was ready expert on both thematics, so we could enjoy really good explanations of both places. It is a good chance to learn about religion and history. Maria's respect with the explanations of the religious culture in the Monestry was really valuable.

It was so cool to visit the amazing Rila Monastery and Boyana Church sites and to do it with this amazing tour group made it even better. A big special thanks to our tour guides Tuni, Maria, and also our bus driver Alex for taking us to both of these wonderful sites safely and delivering us a great enjoyable experience! We met up with them between 8:40 and 9 am by the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and then we embarked on a 1 and a half hour bus ride through the beautiful Bulgarian countryside to the Rila Monastery. We spent between 2 to 3 hours at the Rila Monastery before we came back to Sofia to see the Boyana Church. We were told we went to Boyana Church last to avoid the higher number of groups visiting the church earlier in the day. Both of these sites were spectacular to visit and worthy of being UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Note - No photo or video taking is allowed inside both of these buildings as of this review. Wear comfy shoes for walking, bring water, and wear sunscreen in case it’s sunny out. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, thanks in part once more to the excellent job done by our tour guides and driver. Another one for the books, this tour is a must do when you visit Sofia. - Nolan

I’m currently on a country hopping tour throughout southeast Europe and the Balkans and I don’t have much time to see things in each destination. I had only 1 day to see what the city of Sofia was about and I’m glad I booked this tour to do it. Petar was my tour guide and he did an excellent job guiding me throughout the city showing me the top landmarks and buildings of interest all while sharing his valuable knowledge about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria in general so a big thank you to him! I saw many famous Sofia landmarks during this tour including the St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, Saint Sofia Church, Ivan Vazov National Theater, Ancient Serdica Archaeological Complex, The Presidency Building, Central Hall, The Rotunda Church of St George, Vitosha Boulevard and more. It’s all walking tour so make sure you bring comfortable shoes, water if needed, and sunscreen if it’s going to be sunny out. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to see Sofia in 1 day. A very knowledgeable guide, Peter who holds a degree in Theology was tested by two retired headteachers. He was truly excellent. Informative, witty and spontaneous. Loved the whole experience.

Ti telo the truth, I had many expectations about this tour since I and my mates are very fond of contemporary history. Our guide, Dimitri, was excellent . After a brief historical introduction to understand the peculiarity and the importance of Bulgarian History, he told us about the communist period, the crucial moments. He showed us the building and the places of that period. It East quite interesting to compare the nowadays places and building with those in the past thanks to the pictures Dimitri had broughtvwith him. Great experience which I strongly eecommend.
