Trabant Tales: A Memorable Journey from Sofia to Buzludzha Monument
I chose to embark on the journey from Sofia to the Buzludzha Monument in a Trabant. No, I didn't really know what the Trabant was before discovering the tour online. The tour exceeded my expectations. Due to the slow pace of the car, you get to see all the villages along the way, and the villagers are quite happy to see a Trabant driving through. The car is constantly greeted with thumbs up, waves, and smiles. We even ran into a couple that had customized their Trabants when we stopped to look at a monument along the way. It was interesting to learn and be around those who are genuinely interested in this tiny little car. Danny kept the entire day filled with engaging conversations and provided so much information about the area and Bulgaria! I highly recommend this tour!!

Plenty of steps and plenty of food around Bulgarias capital city.
Very informative and tasty walking tour of Sofia taking in some of the best sites and food experiences in the capital. The host Dany was very knowledgeable and likeable and made the whole experience most enjoyable. The markets are full of life and colour and Dany was able to answer pretty much any question on the history of the country.

Excellent walking tour focusing on the city’s socialist/communist history
The guide was very knowledgeable about Sofia's socialist/communist history and he helped to bring it to life by relating the stories to the locations we visited. It was fascinating to find out about that period in the city’s history. The tour includes a short toilet/coffee break, which was useful. I highly recommend this tour!

        Great walk around Sofia
Really well thought out and run tour. Daniel our guide had a huge group to contend with (c.40) and some really tricky attention seeking participants who he handled well. Really knew his stuff and brought it to life. Tour includes a loo and coffee stop. Eventually we got rained off but still an excellent tour Only downsides was the huge group which meant the tour ran over time

        A great night out
We went to some places I guarantee we would not have been able to find on our own. The event was well organized and it was interesting to see all the different kinds of people who came out. I really enjoyed chatting with some of the attendees and organizers while walking from bar to bar. My only critique (which is more personal than against the experience) was that everywhere we went was quite loud and crowded. We were hoping to find local pubs to sit and converse with new people. However everywhere we went was too loud to meet new people. We aren't big club people so this is probably more against us than them. We also had a very large group who seemed to enjoy the lively atmosphere.

        Interesting and worthwhile
The tour is free with the option of giving a donation at the end. Very knowledgeable guide and a good way of getting to know the city. Highly recommended.

        Great tour!
We had our tour with Dani who was such a great guide! We did it walking, but first had a ride on the Trabant car (quite famous communist car) and got to an important place of the city. We knew a lot about Bulgarians and its communist life! I recommend everyone to do this tour for understanding life in Sofía in the communist times.

        Free communist trabi tour
Just took the free communist tour of Sofía, and it was great. First off, the tour guide Ivo was excellent. He spoke amazing English, had a great attitude, covered many aspects of the history, and didn't sugar coat anything. He provided a great history, but balanced and honest. The tour lasted about 3 hours, and was extremely interesting. We covered many aspects of the party, life, politics, even how daily shopping happened. Ivo was very welcoming to questions, and knowledgeable. I was surprised to find that we got to ride in a Trabant as well, at the end of the tour. This was something I've wanted to do for some time. Danni gave us a great rundown of the car, cultural references, answered all my nerd questions, and took us for a ride. I'll never forget. Highly recommend.

        Historical journey
We took this tour to get a glimpse of life in a diffetent time. We were not dissapointed. This walking tour had a guide who was knowledgeable and fair. He gave us an account of life and times which were difficult and very different from the lifestyle we are used to. If you are in Sofia this is a great way to vuew the past.

Great insight into how Communism impacted Sofia
We joined David on a 3.5 hour guided walking tour of Sofia with an emphasis on Communism and its history , impact Bularian history and its architecture/monuments. David was very informative and went out of his way to ensure most , if not all of our small groups questions were answered. The tours is operated by 365 Ltd. He allowed a 20 minute break for a coffee and comfort stop. He gave us a great oversight of his country and city.

        Great tour
Dany was an excellent guide, very patient and able to answer any questions! He took us off the beaten track slightly and showed us other things in the city that we otherwise may have missed. Learnt a lot about communist Bulgaria and enjoyed the ride in the Trabant! Would definitely recommend.

        Great pub crawl
After some initial confusion regarding our booking this turned out to be a fantastic night. Our guide, Ozzy, was amazing making us feel like true locals. We visited some unique pubs and he gave us some interesting insights to the history at each location. Pub crawl set us up brilliantly for our first fantastic night out in Sofia, would definitely reccomnd this tour

        Amazing night
By far the best night we’ve had in Sofia, you get talking to people from all over the world, you get a few free drinks included and you get to see some really interesting bars that you definitely wouldn’t find yourself. The hosts were great and made it really enjoyable, and it only cost 20 lev! I would 100% do this again when I’m next in Sofia.

Pub Crawl lives up to its name
I’ve never done something quiet like this before when traveling alone, but this was a good time and I’ll do it again! Hosts were good, people from all over the world, lots of drinking and conversation. I’m pretty sure everyone looked happy to have gone. Cheers. Made my weeekend.

      A must do !
      I really underestimated this one.
After I did the free sofia tour, and the food tour, I wasn't very much tempted by this one, but eventually decided to do it anyway.
Well, it turned out to be the best out of the three, it wasn't just a tour where they explain what happened etc, but very much interactive and "personnalised", you just won't get bored!
The guide we had was Ivaylo, and he's the master of his craft, has this unique point of view about things, plus very friendly and a great person overall.

I have travelled extensively for 40 years. 700 flights, 50+ countries.

I have to say this one of the very best tours I have ever been on. The guide had an intimate knowledge of what is a specialist subject. He educated and entertained us for almost three hours and was happy to answer other more general questions.

If you are interested in the transition from communism to democracy in Central and Eastern Europe I can highly recommend this tour. HIGHLY!

The tour provide an excellent overview of what it was like to live in the Communist era, and highlights some interesting spots around the city, testimonies of the past that otherwise would lie unnoticed. The guide was friendly, fun, and very well prepared. Would totally recommend this tour

Found out about this tour during a previous visit to Sofia, and was keen to join, as I was keen to have a ride in a Trabant.

The guides Evo, and Chris were fantastic. The tour was lead primarily by Evi, who we found to be very engaging, and due to the small size of the group, was happy to adapt the program, to allow us to see a couple of extra places, and was happy to point out some interesting places for us to visit ourselves.

The highlight of the tour however the ride in the Trabant, which is an experience not to be missed.

Me and two friends (all in our mid twenties) did this tour on our last day in Sofia and thought it was fab! It was very interesting, and walked you around a lot of the city, and the ride in the Trabbi at the end was an added bonus! Evo (I think that was his name) even joined us for lunch afterwards and showed us a local place he likes. Would highly recommend!

My friend and I had the chance to join this tour during our visit to Sofia. Danny and Evo was entertaining and made the tour enjoyable although the topic was about communism in the early days. Best part of the tour was we got to ride the Trabant car :)

The tour has been really great. Dany explained us the stories behind the scenes about communism in Sofia. He is very knowledgeable, tells the stories with passion and with pedagogy. He fed our curiosity.
It was also great to have the short Trabant trip.

Personally, it has been the perfect tour to raise my awareness about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria, and to better know the transformation of the city over the decades.

I highly recommend the tour and the activities proposed by Dany and his team.
He really did not count the extra minutes after the tour, while we still had so many questions!
