We had an amazing day visiting Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa with our excellent guide Martin who was friendly, fun and very informative. We loved Plovdiv old town which looked amazing, unlike anything we had ever seen (like the perfect set out of an old gothic movie) and enjoyed visiting an outdoor Roman theatre and tasting in a local distillery where we purchased a bottle of melon alcohol. Martin was a great driver who multi-tasked by giving us funny and engaging stories of the histories of Bulgaria, Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa which all made for a fascinating, fun and memorable day.

We spend the whole day with Chris, exploring the 2 cities. The touristic guide is so professional and ready to reply to all of your curiosities. I really appreciated the fact that he is not only a "worker" for the company, but he is really passionate about his job!

Best decision to take this tour. Plovdiv was not on my list and I so glad I visited the city. Very different from Sofia and I would say more representative of the Bulgarian history and culture. Must visit and if you have time then possibly even spend an evening there.

Koprivshtitsa is a lovely town in the mountains. Great to spend an afternoon away from the city bustle. The town is historically significant in the Bulgarian revolution.

My tour guide Lubo was fantastic. He shared a lot about Bulgarian history and culture and made the whole trip memorable.

Fun tour with enthousiastic Tourguide (Martin). Just us two and one other couple. Long drive but worth it ! Maybe the free time could be a little longer in Plovdiv ? Choose fast food and not a slow restaurant to see more of the city ;)

Intense day with a friendly guide. The group was rather small which was really nice. The guide really showed us the main sights. The pace was quite fast and it included a lot of route so maybe booking the Plovdiv only tour would be also an option.

Terrible customer services - no reply when I emailed them after finding out bulgaria was in a state of emergency and everything was shut. So what’s the point of an excursion which states you will visit the tourist attractions, churches, galleries, museums, historic homes etc and allows you to have lunch etc when nothing is actually open due to the state of emergency and the government advises people not to be in close proximity? I asked for a refund only to be told - no because the excursion is still running. Avoid this company.

Dear Neil, Thank you for your review. You were scheduled to join a tour starting on March 15th at 08:00. Your "cancellation" came on March 15th at 23:45. Yes, your booking was considered as "no-show" and treated as per the standard booking condition. If you had let us know a day earlier that you would not be traveling (a fact, which for sure was clear to you already on March 14th), then your booking would've been refunded in full. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to be of your service next time you visit Bulgaria. Best regards, Traventuria team

Fascinating day exploring Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa... beautiful sites and intriguing histories told by Dr. Todor, our guide extraordinaire! Great driver in a comfortable and modern mini bus. Was so impressed that I asked to keep in touch with our guide as my reference for all things Bulgaria 👍🏻 Easy booking online, secured payment, timely departure, schedule as described in advance. Highly recommended!!

My Bulgarian lady friend took me to Plovdiv by train, return by bus. Having an articular English -speaking interpreter made huge difference, as she speaks great English (always look for someone who appears under age 30, since Bulgaria undertook to have the kids learn English from K-12, about 30 years ago) - and the older folks had NO idea what English lingo was, so in that case, the usual sign language needed.

The cobblestone streets were a bit of a challenge for me (age 78) but my friend helped me navigate. Also, some quite hilly sections, so anticipate that.... but the "promenade" area was great for shopping, and the old and restored buildings were quite interesting to see.

Highly recommend taking this trip from Sofia-Plovdiv. Train was two hours, as was bus. Also --- things are REALLY cheap in Bulgaria. Long cab rides maybe 10-15 Leva, with two Lev to the $. But if taxiing, always ask for fare from driver before entering the cab to your destination.

I took my 14 year old with me on this tour. It was as nice as could possibly be considering all the time spent traveling. We thoroughly enjoyed our guide, and the clean, cool, mini bus. We spent adequate time in both cities, and felt as if we saw the most important sites. We left feeling like we could go back to Plovdiv for another visit and possibly spend a weekend hiking through the area near Koprovshtitsa. I highly recommend this tour if you want to se these two towns.
