Everyone should meet and cook with Mersiha!
We are a family of 5, with three teenage daughters. Obviously as every teenager my daughters were not really excited at a prospect of a cooking lesson ( I do drag them to cooking lessons abroad a lot because im a chef) but Mersiha and Mustafa were the most friendly and warm people and they made the afternoon just perfect! Girls loved the food we prepared, they were treated to the home made apple juice and berry juice from Mersiha’s garden! Most of the produce was from their garden as well! I could not recommend the experience enough! Thank you both for your hospitality and warm welcome as well as delicious food! Next time we will do a private tour with Mustafa! There is so much to see there! Wishing you all the best! Katarina, Simon, Lola, Nadia and Vicky xxx

      Don’t miss this class!
This class was exceptionally fun and interesting. Our welcome was warm and genuine. The recipes were well chosen, satisfying to prepare and delicious to eat! Mersiha is an intuitive cook who clearly wanted us to learn and experience Bosnian culture at its best. I was impressed by her resourcefulness, wasting nothing but making dishes I can replicate at home. We were lucky enough to spend the following day with her husband, Mustafa, who took us to see Tito’s Bunker, 1984 Olympian sites and told us his very moving personal story at the Tunnel of Hope from the 1991-1995 war with Serbia. They are a wonderfully kind and interesting couple. You will be glad to meet them and learn from them.

      Wonderful day touring with Mustafa
We did not take the cooking class, but we spent an excellent day touring with Mustafa. We visited various Olympic sights, the Tunnel of Hope, and Tito’s Bunker. We really appreciated him sharing his own personal and family’s harrowing experiences during the Siege. We spent the day talking politics, learning about his life, and he patiently and freely answered all of our questions. He is a gifted tour guide and truly a lovely human being (as well as a safe driver)! If you are interested in more than cooking lessons, please ask him about his availability to guide you around his beautiful country!

      The most unique experience
I've traveled everywhere but this experience has opened whole another perspective in my life. We cooked and talk about life in Bosnia and it made me realize that I took so many things in my life for granted, freedom, relations with other people in life, food etc,.. Mustafa and Mersiha discovered to me how it looked like to survive the war and so many ordeals in life and to be honest this experience is so much more than cooking lessons it's a whole package which can change the point of view in so many different ways that it's so much more and beyond anything I knew before. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Bosnia.THANK YOU!

Highlight of our stay in Sarajevo
Mersiha's class was great. We learned so much, had a great time, and really enjoyed both Mersiha and Mustafa's company during the breaks. It was more than just a cooking class: we felt welcomed into a warm home, we learned more about Bosnian history and culture, and we enjoyed great food from our class. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

Highlight of our trip to the Balkans
What a great time I had with my daughter and another couple from NY. Mersi was so attentive to our questions and interests in cooking fun Bosnian meals. I'm in the food business at home and I never get tired of learning new techniques and ideas for cooking which Mersi unselfishly provided. I've learned so much about saving food as never before :)I recreated all the dishes at home for my friends and all of them went home happy with full bellies :D We also took a tour with Mustafa and the only thing I can say is well done!!! That was one of the best tours that we ever had. We learned so much about the survival and life during the war with personal touch and stories that makes you realize how your perspective towards life is changing. Thank you so much guys for amazing experience and congrats on your award, well deserved!

Amazing night of cooking and fun
I decided to try some cooking classes on recent trip to the Balkans? Found this class - turned out amazingly. Communication with host was easy and quick. Even arranged pick up from downtown to their beautiful home on the hill overlooking the city. Greeted like a long expected guest with wonderful appetizers and drinks. Then we got down to business. We made stuffed peppers, onions, and chard leaves for the first dish. Then 2 kinds of pita pies - meat and potatoes. Good amount of hands on work but still plenty of time to visit and relax. Our dinner was tasty and plentiful. Great conversations and of course plenty to drink. I personally don’t drink alcohol but fresh juices were available. This was one of my favorite evenings during the month long trip. Quality class put on by Mersiha. Don’t hesitate to sign up for this amazing experience.

An Authentic and Delicious Food Experience
We had a wonderful cooking experience with Mersiha today. She is a most capable teacher and made it possible for us to participate in a hands-on fashion in preparing some rather complex Bosnian dishes. The food, much of it from her garden, was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her and her husband Mustafa, a welcoming, warm-hearted and engaging couple. Highly recommended.

      Great Cooking Class
I really enjoyed the class. It was fun and the food was delicious. After eating the dolma and burek from cooking class, eating them at restaurants just fell short. I had dolma at 2 different restaurants and the food we prepared was just 10x better! Do yourself a favor and get the option with wine. The class was fun and I learned a lot. I also love that we get to try food straight from the garden! Yup, she grows most everything she uses in class, and you can taste it!

      A wonderful cooking experience!
In July 2019, together a group of 15 Swiss people, I had the opportunity to learn something about Bosnian food from two lovely people - Mersiha and Mustafa! Thank you for the warm hospitality (I felt as if I was part of your family!!), the interesting cooking lesson (great teaching) and the wonderful food (miam!!). Going to their lovely house (on the slope of a hill above Sarajevo) and being able to experience some genuine homemade Bosnian food was one of the highlights on my Bosnian trip! I can highly recommend that cooking lesson - so much fun, so much passion, and the food is just excellent!!

A wonderful experience on so many levels!
Mersiha and Mustafa invite you into their home for a very personal experience that is not to be missed! Mersi is an exceptional cook - her burek is 100 times better than any of the many other burek we tried (on a daily basis) over the course of 2 weeks. I am slowly perfecting my phyllo skills (which, I have happily discovered, are transferable to apple strudel!), although my burek are sadly missing the Vegeta! Mersi's stuffed vegetables are firmly on my weekly menu - we absolutely love them! More than that, Mersi and Mustafa are incredible hosts who clearly enjoy meeting people, drinking wine and chatting about anything and everything. They are happy to share their stories and experiences of life in Sarajevo with you if you wish, which we were incredibly grateful for. We also took Mustafa's photography and Tunnel guided tours, which significantly enhanced our experience of Sarajevo generally and our knowledge of the history and circumstances surrounding that incredible tunnel. Thank you so much Mersi and Mustafa! We hope to see you again on our travels.

      Highlight of our holiday
A truly authentic cooking experience, the day was filled with local info, fantastic food matched with regional wines and lots of laughter with great hosts. At the end of the experience we were given the recipes and video tutorials so we can recreate what we cooked back home. If you are looking for traditional, delicious food from the region, no need to look further as you will get the full experience here better than anywhere else. We hope to visit again soon as our amazing hosts are also tour guides and photographers in this beautiful country. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone planning on a visit to Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina. S & A

The best - not to be missed
I do not know where to start my ravings about Mersiha and Mustafa. The burek and stuffed vegetables we made were delicious as well as the homemade appetizers, salad and delicious dessert. I finally learned how to make the incredible dough used in the burek and can’t wait to try it at home. But that is just a small, but important, part of why I loved it. Mersiha and Mustafa are very special. They opened their house and hearts to us telling us about their life in Sarajevo. If you want to learn about food and life this special city, then be sure to lay them a visit

Mersiha is a fantastic cook and now I sort of am, too. :) We made two dishes: Burek, one of the two national dishes that's a stuffed meat or vegetable pie in filo dough, and stuffed vegetables roasted in tomato sauce. We made the filo dough from scratch. It started out as a little ball and ended up as a super thin sheet of dough that she stretched over all 4 corners of the table, with lots of tips and tricks for getting it that thin without poking a finger through the dough and how to not panic if you do make a hole. I'd had both of these dishes in several restaurants in Sarajevo, but Mersiha's (and mine) were so much better than anything I'd previously tasted that they kind of redefined them for me. Mersiha and Mustafa are sweet and interesting people who grow all of their own produce. Sharing time with them in their home and kitchen felt like being with good friends. I highly recommend this class!

One of the absolute highlights of our trip! We were fortunate to have a small group and the entire day was just lovely. Our meeting place was easy to find and it was great value for The bigger picture tour and day after for cooking lessons.
Our guide Mustafa provided a nice balance of information and history and it's a great combination of city tour and war tunnel tour where you discover so many things about the city itself, people and their survival during the war and after.
We also attended cooking lessons and our chef, Mersiha, was so welcoming and funny and we felt like family. The home, kitchen and view is just beautiful, the instruction and participation was great, the wine flowed freely, and the meals were simply delicious! One of the best days on our trip! Very glad we chose this tour and cooking lessons up on the hill and this is experience not to be missed while in Bosnia!

I had the loveliest day at Mersiha and Mustafa's house learning about Bosnian cooking. We were high in the hills above Sarajevo and arrived to an amazing treat of fresh homemade juice, warm baked bread, local cheeses, and jams. From there we proceeded to make stuffed peppers and onions and grape leaves and also learned the art of making burek-the national dish. Throughout there was great company, wine, and lots of learning. It was a true pleasure. I highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure in Sarajevo.

We are experienced cooks and travelers, and we take cooking classes wherever we go in the world. This was one of the best cooking class experiences we have had. Not only were our hosts delightful and hospitable, they were knowledgeable and accommodating. We spent many hours in their company cooking, eating, laughing, discussing the importance of food and seed-sharing. It was a marvelous experience and I recommend that anyone who wants to experience the magical feeling of making jufka/phyllo should take this class. Thoroughly wonderful! Nancy S

We both did a Sarajevo tour with Mustafa and a cooking lesson with Merisha. Both experiences are unforgettable and we were so happy that we did it. Mustafa tells stories about the city and the war with an authenticity that makes you wanna learn more and more. Merisha is a perfect chef with a lot of patience and laughter. We felt extremely welcome in their homes and I feel like we got a shortcut into understanding the culture and history of the nation and the people much more in depth than what we would otherwise have been able to. I am happy to give my best recommendations for any other visiting Sarajevo. A must do!

Three of us, grad students studying policy and politics of post war Bosnia and Croatia, were welcomed into Mersiha and Mustafa's home and will never forget it. It was on my pre-trip bucket list just to learn how to make the food. What we experienced was life changing. Their apartment, overlooking Sarajevo, was cozy and had the perfect view of the city. The recipes were simple and approachable (the techniques will take time and practice to master). But their company made the class and sharing the stories of their lives as young people during the seige of Sarajevo was not just illuminating for us as students, but were moving and insightful for everyone who was there that evening. We have made friends for life and when I go back to visit again in a couple years, I'm taking the family with me to share a meal and a great time. If you are at all wondering if you should do it or if it's worth the price, I would pay double for the experience. And it was one of the best meals I had the entire trip.

I had to wait a long time until I could finally do the cooking because of travel restrictions. After a cooking experience in Albania I had decided that cooking was definitely the greatest way to discover the culture of a country. And what a revelation when I finally was able to go to Mersihas and Mustafas home! They more than confirmed my thoughs: I didn’t only learn to cook amazing (also vegetarian!) Bosnian dishes (no, not only burek, the Bosnian cuisine has so much more to offer!!), I also learned a lot about Sarajevo and especially the time during the Bosnian war. This meant a lot to me because I’m a real history addict and I doubt that a normal city tour could have offered me the same. But most importantly, I made terrific new friends! Mersiha and Mustafa offer cookings for a living. You could think they do it purely out of joy and passion for making new friends, enjoying good food together and broadening everybody’s horizons. I have rarely met such amazing, funny and positive people. Their cookings are a mix of a very professional cooking class, mixed with an amazing time with your friends in a familiar atmosphere with a stunning view over the capital. I’m so glad I found their website back in December 2019! :-)

Congratulations to a really, really good job! 😍 We joined the cooking class about one years ago and we still benefit from the great experience!!
The atmosphere is really relaxed and both are so friendly and kind! The explanations were absolutely clear and helpful even one year after the cooking class when trying to prepare bureks on our own! 😊
We can absolutely recommend the class since it’s an extremely nice experience: on the one hand we were taught a lot about the Bosnian kitchen and on the other hand the both were so kind to share their experience about the siege of Sarajevo.
Furthermore, most of the products are selfmade... from the best apple juice we ever had to the tomatoes or mangold we needed for cooking.
We spent a great night with amazing food, absolutely delicious wine, a fascinating view over Sarajevo and really good company!
Definitely one of our highlights of a three-weeks Balkan trip!
Thank you very, very much Mersiha and Mustafa for great memories! 🙏🏼🤗

Dear Romy, Thank you so much for your amazing feedback. Your wirds mean so much to us that you can't even imagine. In these hard corona times it's so good to remember good old days when everything was so normal and even more important is to recreate the dishes and enjoy in food at home and to spend time with your loved ones. We are so grateful for every moment with you and we can't thank you enough for your words and for remembering us after so long. Stay safe my dear and I hope that we will see eachother again one day.
