About
Our Home is located on top of the hill above Sarajevo. That position gives us one of the best views of Sarajevo. We offer cooking lessons at our home because we believe that the only way for our guests to experience local way of living is to visit our home, our garden , make the food we eat almost every day and enjoy in one of the best wines from Herzegovina – you can’t go more local than that. The only condition we have is to bring positive energy and a STRONG will to eat whatever you made at the end of cooking lessons. On the other hand we can promise you a lot of fun and laugh!

What to expect
  • All well known Bosnian dishes are covered with this learning course. Not only that but Herzegovina quality wine will be served which makes this gastro experience complete. Wine is really important for this learning course since to stretch a dough for Burek you need to be relaxed and brave which you can be only after a couple of glasses of wine! Soon as you arrive, you'll be served with appetizer, welcome drink, coffee or tea and you will get a chance to meet us and enjoy in the best panoramic view on Sarajevo. Soon as you finish with appetizer we will start with cooking lessons. Our lessons are made of two parts: I Part: 1.Onions filled with minced meat, rice and spices (Sogan dolma); 2. Mangel/spinach leaves rolled and filled with minced meat, rice and spices (Japrak); 3. Paprika filled with minced meat, rice and spices (Dolma); II Part: 1. Potato pie – burek-phyllo dough rolled with potatoes, onions and spices (Krompirusa) and 2. Meat pie – burek-phyllo dough rolled with minced meat (beef), onions and spices (Burek). After we finish, you will enjoy in food that we made together and have plenty of time asking us questions about anything that you would like to know :)

A highlight of our trip to Sarajevo! LOVED IT!
Oct 2021
Four of us enjoyed an amazing cooking lesson with Mersiha and Mustafa. This was our last day in Sarajevo and this experience was a true highlight. The instruction was the perfect pace, the food delicious, and hospitality tremendous! We consider this couple our friends and will look them up on our next trip! We cannot recommend highly enough!

Amazing cooking event
We had an amazing afternoon with Mersiha and Mustafa, we learned a lot not only about Bosnian cuisine but also about Sarajevo’s turbulent history. It was a great experience, the food was excellent and we had a lot of fun. We’d definitely do it again!

I had a lovely time learning to make DELICIOUS food. Mersiha and her husband are genuinely kind and warm-hearted people who are also good conversationalists. The evening went by very quickly! I recommend this experience :)

Head above the rest

Done many cooking classes around the world and this one is definitely a head above the rest, beautiful location with views over Sarajevo. The hosts Merisha and Mustafa really looked after us and not only helped us deliver the best tasting local dishes but were also really great for advice on where to go and things to see and do in the country..a definite must for visitors to bosnia

What an experience! Lost for words =)
Jan 2021
I had to wait a long time until I could finally do the cooking because of travel restrictions. After a cooking experience in Albania I had decided that cooking was definitely the greatest way to discover the culture of a country. And what a revelation when I finally was able to go to Mersihas and Mustafas home! They more than confirmed my thoughs: I didn’t only learn to cook amazing (also vegetarian!) Bosnian dishes (no, not only burek, the Bosnian cuisine has so much more to offer!!), I also learned a lot about Sarajevo and especially the time during the Bosnian war. This meant a lot to me because I’m a real history addict and I doubt that a normal city tour could have offered me the same. But most importantly, I made terrific new friends! Mersiha and Mustafa offer cookings for a living. You could think they do it purely out of joy and passion for making new friends, enjoying good food together and broadening everybody’s horizons. I have rarely met such amazing, funny and positive people. Their cookings are a mix of a very professional cooking class, mixed with an amazing time with your friends in a familiar atmosphere with a stunning view over the capital. I’m so glad I found their website back in December 2019! :-)

AWESOME experience!!
Nov 2020
This is a MUST when you come to Bosnia!! My evening with them made my time in Sarajevo much more personal. I had the nicest time with Mersiha and Mustafa. They picked me up at my hotel and brought me to their SUPER clean home overlooking the city where the view was amazing.
Learning to cook traditional Bosnian food was a really cool experience. I learned some small little things about why food is made certain ways and how not to waste anything. You can participate as much or as little as you choose. It was an awesome experience just sitting in their home sharing stories, rakia, wine, apple juice they cold pressed, cooked traditional dishes from food, all from their garden.
The food was SO good! I am now spoiled because “we” made the best byrek ever (Mersiha did most of the work since I am kitchen challenged! Its been a week now and I am still craving the Dolma. I would do this again in a heartbeat!!
Super special afternoon and evening. So blessed to have found my new friends and to have had this unique experience. My only regret is I wished I had brought them something since after all I was in their home. Next time I will!

Absolute recommendation! :)
Nov 2019
Congratulations to a really, really good job! 😍 We joined the cooking class about one years ago and we still benefit from the great experience!!
The atmosphere is really relaxed and both are so friendly and kind! The explanations were absolutely clear and helpful even one year after the cooking class when trying to prepare bureks on our own! 😊
We can absolutely recommend the class since it’s an extremely nice experience: on the one hand we were taught a lot about the Bosnian kitchen and on the other hand the both were so kind to share their experience about the siege of Sarajevo.
Furthermore, most of the products are selfmade... from the best apple juice we ever had to the tomatoes or mangold we needed for cooking.
We spent a great night with amazing food, absolutely delicious wine, a fascinating view over Sarajevo and really good company!
Definitely one of our highlights of a three-weeks Balkan trip!
Thank you very, very much Mersiha and Mustafa for great memories! 🙏🏼🤗

Dear Romy, Thank you so much for your amazing feedback. Your wirds mean so much to us that you can't even imagine. In these hard corona times it's so good to remember good old days when everything was so normal and even more important is to recreate the dishes and enjoy in food at home and to spend time with your loved ones. We are so grateful for every moment with you and we can't thank you enough for your words and for remembering us after so long. Stay safe my dear and I hope that we will see eachother again one day. Lots of hugs from Sarajevo 💞

Quintessential Sarajevo

After 2.5 years I finally learned to make Burek, and I wish I did it sooner. Mustafa and Mersiha were exceptionally gracious hosts who opened their home, talents, and lives for our benefit. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to spend any time in Sarajevo.
