About
Best tour if you want to know more about Sarajevos recent history and siege 1992 - 1995. Includes visit to Tunnel of Hope Museum.
Tunnel of Hope was an underground tunnel constructed between March and June 1993 during the Siege of Sarajevo in the midst of the Bosnian War. It was built by the Bosnian Army in order to link the city of Sarajevo, which was entirely cut off by Serbian forces, with Bosnian-held territory on the other side of the Sarajevo Airport, an area controlled by the United Nations. The tunnel linked the Sarajevo neighborhoods of Dobrinja and Butmir, allowing food, war supplies, and humanitarian aid to come into the city, and allowing people to get out. The tunnel became a major way of bypassing the international arms embargo and providing the city defenders with weaponry.
This tour also includes visit to Bobsled on Trebević mountain, build for 1984 Olympic games.

- K2103UZemilyn0 contributionsBest tour I have been on!Me and my friend did a private tour of Sarajevo. We wanted to learn about more about the history . Haris did an amazing job explaining the history and taking us to less touristy spots. He made the tour perfect. We got exactly what we wanted and it was amazing to have a local guide give his perspective on Bosnia and its history.Written October 21, 2019
- 199briano0 contributionsInsightful and Informative GuideI did the Srebrenica day trip along with the Tunnel Of Hope with Haris from Travelplus. He gave first-hand accounts of the entire history, which was invaluable to understanding the conflict as a whole. I highly recommend his services for anyone interested in an in-depth look. It is a beautiful place with a painful past, but the people who live here and culture as a whole is just incredible.Written June 12, 2019

- Lakalakalaka0 contributionsOlympic tour with HarisWe went on a Olympic tour with Haris. It was very educational and fun day to spend in Sarajevo. We enjoyed Haris passion talking about the Winter Olympics 1984 and his historical knowledge remarkable. We were Only 4 people on the tour and that was perfect for Everybody to ask questions in peace. Definitely recommendable tour and awesome guide Haris.Written May 16, 2019

I booked this tour without knowing anything about it and at the end I was so inspired by all of the info Haris gave to me. He know a lot about anything you could ask. He picks you up next to the hostel and drives you back at the end of the tour. He even gave me recommendations about which movies to watch related to the history of Sarajevo. It felt like a private VIP tour and I loved it!

Haris is a brilliant guide, I had such a good day when we went out. He was very well informed and friendly, and also was filled with personal experiences and views which I very much enjoyed hearing. The tunnel is poignant and a must see if you are in Sarajevo, I would highly recommend this tour, and I came away feeling I knew everything I had wanted to learn, plus a whole bunch more! Rock on!

Best part of our Sarajevo visit. A thought-provoking and very moving tour, where the highly knowledgeable guides accounted for both facts and personal experiences from the war. Our tour was first led by Aida, then Haris took us through the final bit. What the people of this town has been through finally started to hit home. No question was too ignorant and I was fascinated by how natural it felt to laugh and smile with the guides when travelling between the sights. In addition, we also got some brilliant general tips for our stay. A tour like this is a must in a place with such a complex recent history and with guides like these you will be left feeling hopeful for the future.

Haris makes the whole difference - as much as he shares the stories about Tunnel Museum and how it came to be, he tells you more personal stories about his own experience during the last war in Bosnia, and his memories about tunnel, sniper alley and how people lived during those dark days.
Great value for money.
I definitely recommend.

All stories from the wars have something thrilling about them because they make us feel with the people that lived through them. It is unique to get exactly this feeling about the whole situation in Sarajevo during the hard times and see how the people coped with it. If you are interested in an urban tour with interesting facts you should do the tour!

Probably one of the most important place you shouldn't be missed when coming to Sarajevo. Butmir's tunnel of hope shows brave and committed Bosnians fighting for their own Land, while whole world was watching silently. In the museum you can find so many things, foods, mines and all kind of thing people were using during the Siege.
It was a really emotional tour, not just because of the struggles and harsh life Bosnian people went through, but also because of stories shared by our guide who made it a really personal experience.
