About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:

- Shlomi T0 contributionsThis is by far, the best shop in Sarajevo for local products. Great wine selectionThis is by far, the best shop in Sarajevo for local products that are made in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Wine, cosmetics, jams great cheese and more.Written August 30, 2022
- Bodoni900 contributionsGreat!Fantastic tour, history, culture, food and drink. And Emma is a fantastic guide! Would love to come back to Sarajevo and Balkantita!Written October 25, 2019
- Becky T0 contributionsFantastic ExperienceI stumbled upon the shop by chance. I stopped in to inquire about all the offerings and the women working suggested I come back the next day for a wine and cheese sampling based on my interests. She took my name and noted my time. I arrived the next day and was provided a cheese plate with several servings of four different cheeses, olive oil and the apple product (I can't remember the name). I received two full glasses of wine, one white one red. After that I learned about rakija and was able to sample 3 flavors. We had a wonderful conversation about the local food scene and culture. I learned so much about the area in a a short time. While there several locals stopped in to buy products they can't get any where else! I can't recommend this shop enough. I wish I had time for a tour as well!Written October 12, 2019
- cemoguz960 contributionsWonderful, but a bit overpricedOur tour guide was a lovely person, she guided us, chatted with us, explained everything, and took us to all of the places the tour stated. She didn’t rush us at all, and was very flexible. We had a great time. If we could rate her, we would rate her 5/5. But, if you ask me, the price was a bit too much for the amount of food we ate. Don’t get me wrong, the tour was great, but when you pay that much, you just end up expecting a lot more, especially considering the cheap food prices in Sarajevo.Written September 23, 2019
- cemoguz960 contributionsTry this!Deserved what we paid, everything was delicious and we tasted many interesting things. Would surely recommend. Bonus: they also guide you through their shop, and give you ideas and advice on what to buy.Written September 23, 2019
- UliaN170 contributionsPerfect edible souvenirs from BosniaThis shop has a very good selection of interesting things made in Bosnia - excellent cheeses, cheeses with truffles, oak bark, incredible jams, very good olive oil, and i don’t know what not! Definitely recommend as a place for gourmet souvenir from BiHWritten August 28, 2019
- Laura D0 contributionsCute shop in the heart of Sarajevo, visit for the wine, cheese and friendlinessMy friend and I arrived at the Balkantina shop in Sarajevo right before 8pm, just as they were about to close, but we were invited in and offered some Bosnian wine and cheese to try (both delicious). The owners were very friendly and told us about the history of the local products they sell, not once pushing us to purchase (although we couldn't resist the wine and little bottle of rakia, which we were informed are usually drank at breakfast.. we tried it, it's not for the fainthearted!) We would have loved to try the wine and painting evening but unfortunately there wasn't one while we were there, but that sounds very fun!Written August 2, 2019
- 53zs_fiak0 contributionsThe best activity in SarajevoWe chose the cooking with Bosnian family, where Uliana and Samir hosted us in their own house. They were the best host, we've ever met. We tasted a lot of different Bosnian products and drinks and discussed a lot about everything, like old friends... And our chef, Dalida was so accurate and patient, explained all the cooking procedure with kindness. The result was amazing! So many different flavours, we loved that evening. It made our day perfect! I definitely recommend them, if you go to Sarajevo, you should meet them and cook and eat! :) Thank you Dalida, Uliana and Samir, we hope to see you again!! :)Written July 9, 2019

- Manuel M0 contributionsVery Nice TourA Good way to start your stay in Sarajevo. You will see the city and get to know the history, but you will also go to rakija bars and drink! It felt like really getting to know the city and it's people.Written April 2, 2019
- 97enko0 contributionsAmazing city!Sarajevo is truly representative of the country's delicious food. Gastronomy has really special dimension here. It's not expensive at all and I totally recommend everyone to try bosnian pitas/pies which are one of the most delicious pies I ever tasted! And one more good thing about Sarajevo is that you can easily explore the historical center on foot. I want to thank the team of Balkantina for great hospitality and I hope to travel with them again someday!Written March 26, 2019
- Dreamcatcher_840 contributionsThe best way to enjoy the City!To anybody visiting Sarajevo - getting in touch with kind hosts from Balkantina is a must! The interesting tours they are offering will give you a great insight into Sarajevo delicious and traditional food&drinks, also it will give you opportunity to learn a lot about the history and culture of this beautiful city and get a chance to hang out with locals. I highly recommend the „Colors & Wine“ event - pleasant party where you can have fun painting with friends, and also taste the specialties from Bosnia with the best Herzegovina wines. Dear Balkantina team, I can't wait for the next event :)Written March 20, 2019

- mariesophie31640 contributionsGourmet tourWe had a wonderful tour with this agency, specially with our guide dalida. She put so much passion to make us discover her country. Our food, drink, and history tour of Sarajevo was an amazing experience, largely thanks to our guide, Ilma. Her historical knowledge of the city, intertwined with her personal stories of her family, made the tour both educational and enjoyable. The food was excellent, we received great recommendations, and learned a little Bosnian too! Ilma's warm personality and storytelling brought Sarajevo’s culture to life, making this tour an absolute must for anyone visiting the city.

I’m from Florida, my husband is from Bosnia, and we needed to kill time before our next flight. Our tour guide Enes blew us away with a lively walking historical and traditional food tour! Even my Bosnian husband learned a lot of new information. Enes taught us about Yugoslavia, Ottoman Empire, Tito, the 90s siege, and so much more! If you’re a curious history buff and open minded person, you should definitely take this tour. You will eat enough and walk enough to make all those calories worth it! Enes is so charismatic and high energy, 10/10 would recommend.

I had a fantastic time on this tour! We walked to several different markets, restaurants and historical points in Sarajevo to learn more about the food culture and history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming; it felt like hanging out with a friend for the afternoon! We got to sample different types of Bosnian pie, stuffed vegetables and other delicious items. The portions were meal-sized so come hungry and you will leave full of food and knowledge!

We had a great time on our tour. You could find all the places we went to on the map yourself, but the information the guide gives is priceless. They are able to show you exactly what is good and unique and tell you about it as well as answer your questions. Definitely worth the price!

had a great tour on our first full day in sarajevo. my wife and i were the only ones who booked a tour that day (saturday may 27). we had a younger guy who i believe said he was giving his first tour. he was very knowledgeable about sarajevo and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. he took us to a couple places that i'm sure we would not have found on our own. as we finished up with a couple of drinks we chatted about the rest of our trip we had planned, some of his future plans and just overall what was going on around the world. it was a great way to spend our first full afternoon in bosnia.

Lana was an excellent guide who gave us a good blend of food knowledge and history. The food was very flavoursome (and substantial) and it allowed us to get an accurate insight into what and how the locals eat. I would highly recommend this tour.

I’ve done many food tours across Europe, and this was one of my favorites. Sarajevo is an unexpectedly wonderful city with a rich and complex history. My guide Lana was knowledgeable about both food and Sarajevo/Bosnia history, and spoke wonderful English. She was able to clearly articulate thoughtful answers to all of my questions, food related and otherwise. The food was also great…be sure to go hungry. I highly recommend!

This is just the food tour we were looking for! We've done the old town walking tour. We've tried the touristy burek and cevapi places, and we wanted to know a bit more about how the majority of the locals eat. We got that along with a little more local history and walking into parts of the city not covered by old town tours.
What I want to do is come back and have a hands-on session making burek so that I have a lasting souvenir to take back to the USA. Tell me when!

This is a gastro tour operator and delicatessen shop, promoting local products from little producers of BiH. You don't want to miss it.
We booked a very interesting 3 hours food and city tour and our lovely guide Emina, so professional and passionate, told us lots of stories about the city, its history and of course the food, essential element in every culture.
We finished in the shop where we could taste some amazing local products that you can buy (make great presents and souvenirs). All the guys working there are passionate and will tell everything they know about their products.
Absolutely recommended!

My guide Emina was an absolute delight and we had a great tour eating our way around Sarajevo and me getting history, stories, and background to the city. We started at the dairy market and I tasted lots of Bosnian cheeses and cured meats, all delicious. We had 3 types of burek, interestingly drunk with yoghurt in Bosnia. We also had a chicken soup with great Bosnian bread, and lots of fab meat filled vegetables. I don’t know the names of them all, but it was all delicious. I was stuffed full by the end and could not even eat much of the cheese and bread and wine that you get at the tour company's office at the end. That bit was really interesting too, because they have a wine and cheese shop at the agency, where you can buy produce. I loved this tour.
