About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- LHLi0 contributionsWell organised and professional toursWe did 2 transfer tours, a day tour and walking tour of Sarajevo with Funky tours. The coordinators are all helpful and prompt in responding to our queries which we greatly appreciate. The tours were well planned and we were able to cover many sights within the day despite the short days during the winter season. All the tour guides assigned to us (Adnan, Ajla, Doris and Stefan) were very professional and took great care of us during the tour. We learnt a lot about the history of the country through their engaging sharing. They were also open about sharing their personal / family experiences during the Bosnian war helped to shed a a lot of misperceptions about this beautiful country. If we visit Eastern Europe again in future, we will definitely engage their services again cos we know we will be in good hands of the professional team.Written November 23, 2024
- 764ianr0 contributionsFirst time to B+HWe were looking for things to do and opted for the wine tour with Funky Tours. We travelled from Sarajevo and as a result of the railway line being out the train wasn't running. We arranged with them for two transfers Sarajevo To Mostar and then Mostar to Sarajevo with our tour sandwiched in the middle. Our tour guide Ajla (Isla) met us at the hotel along with the driver, they had selected 3 x local winery tours near to Mostar. The afternoon was fantastic with the weather helping to compliment the wine and local food. This was a slow and enjoyable afternoon with both Ajla and the staff at the locations we visited guiding us through our tasting. Also trying some of the spirits brewed at the winery's helped lubricate the afternoon. Both the journey to and from Mostar were leisurely and enjoyable with our drivers Humza and Tariq being very knowledgeable sharing their experience in living in Sarajevo through the war. I would recommend Funk Tours if you are looking to do small group guided tours. We were a group of 6 and the transport was comfortable for our journeys and tour. We had intended to make use of the train but wasn't able to do so, the guys in the office were able to help and will try and facilitate most of your requests to meet your needs. I will consider you again when i return, thank you for making a first trip to B+H an enjoyable one. Kind regards John, Byron, Peter, Grant, Phil and Jim.Written November 15, 2024
- Happycamper652y0 contributionsAwesomeFascinating trip into Serbia, the guide Senad was awesome and had much information to share. The ride was long and some of the “ sites” were mediocre but well worth it to travel and explore the geographic location and to see my 51 st country bi highly recommend this tour!Written November 10, 2024
- juzzypoop0 contributionsPrecious stories of lived experiences during the siege! My mom and I took this tour with Mustapha and we learned so much from him! It was amazing to hear about the siege of Sarajevo from the viewpoint of someone who had actually lived through it. The stories of the time really came alive and we are so grateful that these precious (and difficult!) stories were shared with us. It is a gift. There was also a mix up with the tour we had booked when we were first picked up in the morning but the Funky Tours staff handled it with such grace and care. At the time, my mom also had a leg injury and was moving with a lot of pain. Mustapha was very kind and thoughtful and found alternatives for my mom to make the tour easier for her.Written November 5, 2024
- juzzypoop0 contributionsKnowledgeable and thoughtful guides! My mom and I took this tour with Ayla and had just the most wonderful day. We were amazed by her knowledge and really appreciated learning from her. It was a private tour so we had the chance to take our time and really experience the sights as we wanted and needed. At the time, my mom also had a leg injury and was moving with a lot of pain. Ayla was very kind and thoughtful and tried to find routes to make the tour easier for her. That thoughtfulness really went such a long way!Written November 5, 2024
- 485anneh0 contributionsHighly recommendedWhat an incredible morning this was. Our guide Adnan fought in the war, worked with the UN afterwards and is still to this day involved in current conflicts as a political scientist. We both had some knowledge of the Siege of Sarajevo but his insight and method of delivery brought all the events to life. It’s a long 4 hours so take some water and it can get cold in the mountains. Please book this tour if you are in SarajevoWritten November 5, 2024
- Trip421042259500 contributionsTHE BEST WAY TO SEE CROATIA AND THE AMAZING HIDDEN GEMS!I had the MOST INCREDIBLE experience with Funky Tours. I did the Croatia sailing and it was amazing to see so many hidden gems and national parks. The yacht was EXTREMELY luxurious, the crew was awesome and the food was refreshing and delicious. My favorite part was being able to snorkel and get fresh oysters delivered boatside. Would highly recommend anyone and everyone to do the Croatia sailing tour. It is the BEST WAY TO see Croatia!Written November 4, 2024
- GoPlaces098342147690 contributionsDream sailing cruise around Croatian islands!I had the incredible opportunity to take a 4-day catamaran cruise around Croatia with Funky Tours, and it was nothing short of extraordinary! As a full-time traveler, it’s rare for something to truly take my breath away, but this experience did exactly that. My friend and I are still raving about it! From the moment we boarded the sleek, modern catamaran, we were welcomed by our captain and skipper and shown to our cozy cabins. With only four cabins on board, the cruise felt intimate, allowing for a maximum of 8 guests. We shared the journey with three amazing women from London on a birthday getaway, which made it even more memorable and fun! Every morning, the captain served up an amazing breakfast, and lunch in the afternoons was equally delicious—you’d swear he was a professional chef! The highlights? Visiting untouched islands and stunning national parks, swimming in some of the clearest waters I’ve ever seen, and an unforgettable stop at an oyster farm where freshly shucked oysters were delivered to us by boat right from the farm! This trip was truly an unbeatable value, and I’m already looking forward to exploring more Funky Tours adventures for future travels!Written November 3, 2024
- melanial1160 contributionsPeace of mind exploring beautiful placesI participated in a catamaran trip in Croatia organized by Funky Tours and my experience was great: excellent responsiveness during the planning and reservation process, and professionality both prior and during the tour. The experience of sailing the catamaran was amazing, visiting beautiful spots in the Kornati Archipelago and Kkra National Park that are off the beaten track. The skipper was experienced and the host was thoughtful, professional and friendly. I loved the freshly cooked food on board. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and in good hands. Would definitely recommend the catamaran experience with Funky tours and hope to try other tours offered by them.Written October 30, 2024
- amandad370 contributionsInformative and moving experiencesI booked two tours with Funky Tours as a solo traveller keen to experience the history, culture and natural scenery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I did the Mostar and Four Cities Tour (including Kravice Waterfalls) followed by the Siege of Sarajevo and Tito's Bunker tour. Both were wonderful, informative, moving experiences. On both days we travelled in a small group and managed to see everything on the itinerary. The guides for both tours were excellent and had their own personal, moving stories to tell about living through the war. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a beautiful country with a fascinating history and a bright future ahead. Personal highlights were swimming at Kravice Waterfalls (although this was quite short due to time constraints) and the incredible Cold War timewarp into Tito's Bunker. I would definitely travel with Funky Tours again.Written October 29, 2024
- 471harveyc0 contributionsThe beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unique and unforgettable. The Funky Tour experience is the best of bestEma and the Funky Tours team were extremely helpful in our planning. Ema was always go the extra mile to ensure we got all the info we needed. Our trip from Sarajevo to Kotor Bay was amazing and truly memorable. The landscape was so beautiful and our guide Ammar was outstanding - he was passionate, informative, engaging and entertaining. Our trip experiences were much beyond exceptional and we truly believe that because Funky tour did everything from their heart. All the way it was so fun, beautiful, well plan and relax, we felt like taking a family trip, not joining a tour. We have visited many countries in Europe, the beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very unique, stunning and unforgettable. Our trip experiences with the Funky Tour was far beyond our expectations. Strongly recommended to everyone.Written October 27, 2024

- 502sarahc0 contributionsWonderful experience and priceless memoriesI absolutely LOVED the tour I did with Funky Tours! It was my favorite of the ones I did during my visit, and (though I'm blanking on the names of the guide I had going out, and the one who returned us to Sarajevo), they were both terrific. Being a nature lover, the Tara Canyon hike stands out foremost in my mind, but I equally loved the train ride, the relaxing and beautiful boat trip in Serbia, and time to explore the stone village, and the wooden village was interesting as well! The guide we had going out was great - patient, informative, helpful, and a joy to spend the day with. The guide bringing us back was also fun to chat with and accommodated with an extra stop when leaving the canyon for myself and the other couple on the tour to get a photo of the stunning mountains. I can't speak highly enough of my experience with Funky Tours - both the guides and my correspondence with the ladies in the office. The guides helped make this an unforgettable day in my trip, and hope to have the pleasure of booking with Funky Tours again on a future visit!!Written October 21, 2024
- Z3368CUalisonm0 contributionsEfficient, helpful and friendly experience, tailored to my needs.Funky Tours put together a package for me, including 2 half day and one full day tour from Sarajevo, transfer tours from Zagreb to Sarajevo and from Sarajevo to Mostar, hotel in Sarajevo. All this was organised and I just had to turn up. Everything was well planned, the communications and service were spot on. All the guides, drivers and office staff were knowledgeable and completely charming. The price was very reasonable too.Written October 18, 2024
- Z3368CUalisonm0 contributionsA varied and interesting day, with a train ride and a short walk in the national parkThis is a great day out. We saw so much and found out so much about the history of the region. The guide and driver were both excellent, supportive and knowledgeable. The high point for me was the ride on the Sargan 8 Train, which went right up the mountain and back down again. We saw so much - national parks, woods and mountains and rivers. I recommend this highly.Written October 18, 2024

This was a wonderfully organised tour, and dealt with the subject matter very well. I cannot recommend Almir my guide highly enough - he was extremely knowledgeable and generous sharing his story. The lunch was very substantial for a vegetarian, also.

We cannot compliment Funky Tours enough for our trip to Srebrenica. It was an unforgettable experience and something we would highly recommend others. The tour was very well organized, and the small group setting allowed for meaningful dialogue and questions throughout the day. Our guide, Almir, shared both lighthearted and honest stories from his time during the war, and his humor and engaging personality made the trip even more meaningful and memorable. Lunch and coffee were perfect, and it was a fabulous opportunity to learn and connect with everyone. We appreciate the hostess and her husband for being so welcoming, it was truly a privilege and a way to personally connect. Again, 11/10 stars for this unique opportunity. Will definitely be back to BiH and will book again with Funky Tours. We can't thank you enough.

What an experience. It was emotional, enlightening and something I will never forget. It was emotional to see the devastating scars and sights when seeing and learning about what happened in Srebrenica. Our guide was amazing and we can sense his passion when telling his own story along with horrific things in Srebrenica. We were initially a bit nervous when going to a locals home for lunch, but they immediately made us feel at home as their guests and had offered more food than I could ever imagine. The lunch itself was one of the most memorable things we did while visiting Bosnia and will be something we will always remember. I highly recommend this tour, it will be an experience that you will always remember but difficult to describe in words.

I learned so much about the Bosnian War and the roll the international community played. We visited a museum that offered explanations and video accompaniment to further detail events. We then had an authentic Bosnian lunch made by a woman whose family survived the war. Followed by a visit to the memorial site for those that perished in the war. Highly informative while also community building💗 loved this tour.

I try not to just be a "tourist" and do the stereotypical things tourists do. I want to embark down the path of experiential learning; seek something that will have high impact and help me better understand the human soul. I have been to some top-notch powerful tours during my lifetime, in many corners of the word. The Srebrenica Tour ranks as my #1 travel experience, that fortunately granted me clarity on how to “be the change I want to see in the world.”
There are no words which can describe my gratitude for all of this. I am thankful that Lejla shared her story with us; recounting one of her most traumatic times in life, but also reflecting on her recovery and hope. Almir, my guide, exceeded expectations. He spoke from the heart, told his story, and in doing so, served as the most perfect of teachers, helping his “students” comprehend complex matters much better than what we could ever read from a book. I cannot recommend this tour enough. It changed me for the better. Be prepared to not be the same person as you were when you entered - and that, is a beautiful thing. Masha'Allah
P.S. I suppose I do not write reviews on here frequently. But, I am kind of fussy, lol. I don't really rave about tours or experiences that much. I was also supposed to be hiking in Switzerland and changed my plans at the last minute. I believe I was meant to be in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Something was calling me. The universe wanted me to be in BiH and I'm so glad I paid attention to the detour signs.

Dear,
Thank you so much for your positive review!
We're happy to hear that you think so highly of our tour to Srebrenica. It's a tour that's very close to us in heart and we always do our best to do it justice.
Lejla always has her door open to anyone willing to learn about the history of Srebrenica and, to see people show interest in learning and empathizing, means a lot.
We're happy that you got to join us on this tour and definitely hope to see you again some day.
All the best from the FT team! <3

Our guide was PHENOMENAL! Almir gave us a lot of the history on our drive to Srebrenica. I did not realize he was previewing what we would see and hear once we reached the Memorial Museum, but it was extremely helpful! He also shared his personal soldiering experience during the Siege and the tragic happenings of family and friends. The museum itself was so well done, with movies, exhibits, rooms chronologically documenting how the tragedy unfolded, etc. the lunch with the local family was delicious and kept the day from being overwhelmingly sad. But I can’t say enough good things about Almir! Engaging, interesting, funny, attentive to our needs, excellent taste in music, professional yet relaxed….overall a really wonderful tour on a very sad and thought provoking experience.

Dear Ronna,
Thank you so much for sharing your meaningful experience with us. We are truly touched by your words, and it warms our hearts to hear that your tour to Srebrenica with Almir was such a positive journey.
Almir's dedication to providing a comprehensive historical context during the drive and his personal sharing about the Siege added a unique and poignant layer to your experience. We're delighted to know that his efforts to prepare you for the Memorial Museum were helpful and enhanced your understanding of the tragic events.
It's heart-warming to hear that you found the museum well done, with its exhibits and chronological documentation providing a thoughtful and educational experience. We're also glad to know that the lunch with the local family added a touch of warmth to the day.
If your future travels ever bring you back to Sarajevo, or any other direction that we cover we would be honored to welcome you again. FT Team! <3

You couldn’t ask for a more thoughtful or knowledgeable guide. Almir is a gifted storyteller - he balanced facts with personal reflections and anecdotes. It’s a long day to be “on” for so many people, but he was a gracious guide and host the whole time.
The luncheon was a lovely opportunity to rest, eat good food and meet a Bosnian family in their home.
We booked two tours with the agency. Both were wonderful. The staff was easy to work with and the guides (Adnan and Almir) were excellent.

I had not originally planned to visit Srebrenica in my series of trips, but after watching Jasmin Zbanic's film "Quo Varis, Aida?" I was so shocked that I changed my plans on short notice. This tour was therefore very meaningful for me.
I felt a very strong will to preserve this record for future generations from the actual visit to the site and the carefully crafted exhibits at the memorial museum. I lost track of time and spent a lot of time looking at the exhibits (the exhibits also included information about Hassan's experience, which was the basis for the film).
The food we had there was really delicious. The coffee was impressive, tasting better than in the store.
We heard about her uncle who was killed in a massacre and the current difficulties in the Srebrenica area.
As a memorial gift, I received an accessory in the shape of an 11-flower flower, the symbol of Srebrenica, and as I remember this day, I would like to do what I can to help everyone live in peace and happiness.
Our guide Mr. Ahmetagic told us various stories. For example, issues about history education in Bosnia. I think he mentioned something about the importance of coexistence and sympathy. I strongly agree with that opinion. He also wants us to share what happened here and his experiences. I don't think many people around me know about the Bosnian War, so I would like to share it with my family, friends, colleagues, etc.

This is absolutely worthwhile, and the company and its guides are great to work with. Responsive, knowledgeable, communicative.
If you're feeling apprehensive about taking on such a heavy topic, it will be heavy, but your guide will give you the time and space to take it in. Our guide, Adnan, was wonderful. He kept us engaged and learning a great deal the whole trip.
I have one request, he said at the end of the day. Tell everyone what you learned here. So this is me, telling you, this is important, you won't regret it, and Funky Tours and their guides are ideal accompaniment.

Went on a day tour to Srebrenica and it was incredibly interesting and well done! The tour guide was a veteran of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, gave us a detailed historic overview in good English and was nice enough to answer all questions we had, no taboos. We got to have delicious lunch with a local family in Srebrenica who were once refugees but returned to the town. We talked about today‘s situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their personal stories which was really really touching. I will remember this experience for a long time.
All that for a really good price.
Definitely recommend, if you‘re staying in Sarajevo for more than 1 day and if you value real connections with the country and its history.
