- L3988CXmariaa00Great SchoonerThe cruise to Schooner Island in Fiji with Whale's tale crew was relaxing and full of positive vibe. Great snorkelling spots, good foods, good drinks. A well spent expense.
- Sangeeth196700Wonderful experience and great day on the Schooner Island that is exclusively for Whales Tales CruisesWonderful experience and great day on the Schooner Island that is exclusively for Whales Tales cruises. The whole trip was engaging, crew was lovely, attentive and entertained us by singing songs on our way back. Best time in Fiji so far.
- AAbhishay00Annoying staffI hate to do this but their marina staff was extremely irritating. We went to the marina to enquire about the day trip but I found the staff to be extremely pushy and condescending. The staff kept telling me I won't find an all inclusive day cruise which is not true because Captain Cook Cruises and South Sea Cruises both offer similar experiences. The overly pushy sales tactic annoyed me and when I told the staff I will check around before making my mind she became more defensive as though she was offended that I'm going to exercise my right as a consumer to look around. She even took the pamphlet from my hand much to my shock. I don't know what the day trip itself is like and I guess I never will know at least not till that staff is around.
- Y4839NUveronicam00Great day tripWas a wonderful time. Not a large crowd went to a private island did some snorkeling and beach volleyball. Food was nice and the singing was wonderful. The whole sailing team was so nice and accommodating.
- Dwirty00Stunning snorkelingWe had a great day. Also had done another competing cruise to another island and much preferred this day. Nice old schooner, great food, cheerful staff & a perfect tiny paradise Island. Suited for snorkeling, and well worth it with the reefs nearby.
- Harry-Jean M00Whale´s taleThis one of the best excursions to do. Very friendly staff and a nice destination, small unhabited island. Time to relax and/or snorkeling
- Mel00Sydney00FantasticFantastic! Went on cruise today and loved it. The crew was amazing and we had a great day. Would definitely go again.
- Venture0284115570200Best experience everWow. What a day. All the guys on the boat were absolutely lovely. Gave us all a great day. Went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic time. Thank you Sula for taking me snorkeling when I was afraid of it. I loved the experience because of you. Would highly recommend x one million. Lunch was exceptional and drinks free flowing. Thank you guys of whales tales
- 763valerier00A tale of disappointment!Have someone at the port to greet customers once they arrive. We were dropped off and had no idea where to ‘check’ in. When we finally found the right spot the person was unhelpful. The schooner is in bad repair and we were surprised by the lack of safety. Partial railings on the upper deck, plastic stackable chairs that people could move anywhere and ropes at ground level as trip hazzard. Too much hype about the food which was very ordinary. Crew were very helpful. Snorkelling experience very average. Overall not anywhere near the experience they advertise.
- BMBbc00Tremendous ValueI booked through bookme .au or nz -It saved me a lot of money .I paid in Australian dollars but converted to Canadian was about 77 dollars. The only downside was that you don’t go to any other islands- you sail past a few but they were not pointed out.The crew are amazing and the deserted island that we went to was idyllic( bathrooms were flush toilets)- the food was served three times and water-beer- wine free all day long.Given that a glass of wine onshore is 12 dollars and a beer around 7 dollars( FJD-)it’s a very good deal..The snorkelling was done twice with a member of the crew going out with you.The crew played volleyball with the passengers - great entertainment. On the way home there was musical entertainment. There was a Kava ceremony and a chance to sample this.
- Kelly B00OutstandingIt was a day for the memories. My wife was worried about getting sea sick; the schooner ride was very smooth in three foot waves in the afternoon. Her apprehensive quickly disappeared and truly enjoyed the 90-minute sail. The island is amazing. The best part of the day was the crew, they are fantastic. They are so accommodating and safety was first. Lunch was definitely better than 95% of the restaurants we have been to (anywhere). Without question 10/10. Coming into the marina, the day was sadly over but the memories will be long lasting. K Black Canada
- 453precyc00Excellent experience 😍Buna was amazing with her knowledge and experience friendly and welcoming to us and details of the cruise. The crews are excellent 👍
- Katrina C00Cruising the waters to schooner islandCaptain and staff were so accommodating, they went out of their way to serve everyone on the yacht. Schooner island was beautiful, lunch was lovely, glass boat viewing of the coral and the little fish was amazing. Feeding the fish was a wonderful feeling. Swimming around island was refreshing, a little hard walking around as their was so much coral on the beach and water edge but was fine once we got into the ocean. Highly recommend tour
- simonerE1301TV00Great day even if the weather is not all that 100% would do this againOutstanding! Recommended by my boss to do and she wasn’t wrong Fabulous from start to finish thanks to the wonderful crew. Unfortunately for us not the best weather but the crew made it a fabulous day regardless. There was plenty to eat and drink all day, singing and dancing and snorkelling and glass bottom boat on Schooner Island. Special thanks to Victor who took the boys power snorkelling and made them have a day to remember Couldn’t fault the day in any way! Thoroughly recommend this day trip! …. Vinaka
- MackDaddyDrift00Relaxing and enjoyableEven in overcast and light rain conditions to start our cruise we were greeted with friendly smiles, laughter and banter. We had an awesome trip and the catering was top shelf, including our vegetarian friend with a great selection of salads.

Booked this soon after we booked our flights. Picked up from resort and delivered to Port Denarau and taken back at end of day. Boarded schooner (100ft long) and continental breakfast served with complimentary drinks (bubbles, juices, water, coffee, tea). Throughout the day all drinks were complimentary including wine and beer. 1 1/2hour motoring out to Schooner Island (their own private small island) with shade from little bure shelters and a few palms along with a large bure where lunch was served. very little wind so motored all the way. Taken ashore on smaller boat. First up a kava ceremony then first group could go out snorkelling or if preferred go on the glass bottom boat. A guide led our group out a little way where we saw some coral regrowing and some small colourful fish. Water warm and enjoyed this. Back for lunch consisting of fish in coconut milk, chicken and sausages along with potato, rice and breads with fruit to finish. Went for another swim while others snorkelled and lay on a lounger provided. Some played volleyball with the crew prior to boarding again at 3pm for departure at 3.30pm arriving back at Denarau at 5pm. Crew played the guitars and sang with a couple of the guests joining in. Enjoyed the entertainment and very pleasant sitting on top sun deck enjoying the breeze and talking to other guests. Crew were all friendly. A fabulous day out and would recommend this tour.

We read a lot of reviews for many of the different "day cruises" that are available from port Denarau and the one common thing that we seemed to find, was that some people do not actually read the tour descriptions. We wanted to do something that included lunch, so Whales's Tale was the one we chose, with the continental breakfast and leisurely cruise being two determining factors. We boarded the ship and started out of the port, after a short and entertaining safety briefing, breakfast was avalable. We thought the breakfast was good, consisting of Watermellon, Pineapple, Papaya, Apple, and two types of bread, one like a spice cake, the other was some fried balls that were very good. We made our way out to the island, with the crew pointing out several of the islands that we passed on the way (more than 4), with the trip taking just about 90 minutes. When we arrived at the island we boarded the smaller boat to transfer to the island (may not be good for mobility impaired people), once there they performed a Kava ceremony and then we did the first snorkeling tour. After snorkeling they served lunch, which was what one might expect from a buffet lunch, not 5 star, but tasty and filling, with chicken, sausage and fish being the protiens, and a variety of potatoes and salads being offered, and we saw a Vegan plate and a couple gluten free options for those that requested them in advance. After lunch there was more snorleling, a trip over the reef in the glass bottom boat, volley ball, swimming and general relaxing. When the time came to depart, we all boarded the small boat and transfered back to the ship, there everyone was invited to jump off the upper deck before actually departing. All in all this was a good day, our weather was nice, the food was good, there was plenty to eat and drink, including the sparkling wine and beer, the crew was nice and helpfull and they had a birthday cake for one of the passengers on our return to the port. Yes they motored out and back, but we had a head wind going out and a cross wind on the return, running under sail would have greatly added to the transfer time, so I am glad they did not choose to sail, I believe most people would rather have the full time on the island, over running under sail and maybe only having half the time on the island. An enjoyable day that we would recommend to any considering this trip.

What an amazing trip.
The wonderful gentleman at the ticket office was so friendly and full of information
The trip to the island on the Schooner was excellent and not to mention the entertainment that we got involved in with the singing. We enjoyed the light breakfast
I experienced some amazing snorkeling with gorgeous coloured fish and coral.
The guides were fantastic keeping an eye on the swimmers.
What a fantastic spread for lunch - so much food. The trip catered drinks on the boat to and from the island and on the island. Nothing was a bother.
The trip home was celebrated with birthday cake for myself, my Auntie and 3 other travelers. What an experience. Highly recommend this trip. Best value for money
Thanks to Sean one of the crew members who had an amazing voice and a great repertoire of songs that we all enjoyed the sing a long.

We booked this day cruise at the last minute, and the local tourist information centre recommended it. We had no high expectations, but the day cruise was quite fun.
The sailing to Schooner Island took about 1.5 hours. We get to the island using a smaller boat. There's an option to use the provided snorkelling gear, but we brought my own to be on the safe side. Guests can go with the glass bottom boat, join the group snorkelling, or use the power snorkel gear (attract additional costs). I opted to snorkel instead of joining the boat. It was our first time snorkelling, and Captain Mike happily offered to guide me and my wife to the reef, sight-seeing underwater coral, fish-feeding, and showing us other sea lives (starfish, shells & sea cucumber).
Lunch on the island was pretty basic, nothing too fancy. Water, soft drinks, beer & wine are complimentary. We left the island at about 3 pm to return to Port Denarau. The crew prepared cakes for those having their honeymoon or celebrating a birthday. They also sang a couple of songs before reaching the Port.
Overall, I find the crew quite friendly, accommodating and hospitable. The ship seems a bit old and has some lingering smells. It could be something for management to improve on.

A full day on a beautiful restored yacht to Schooner Island. Good food with alcohol included in the price, great snorkelling and everything needed was included. But the best part of our day was the crew who were so friendly and obliging. Playing their guitars and ukuleles, making us all laugh and making the day very special. Would definitely recommend this cruise.

BULA .GREAT DAY OUT . Greeted by crew singing and playing music . All could carry a tune !!!! . Schooner did about 7 knots to Savala Island . Took just over 1.5 hours . Drinks are available on board as well as a light snack . Skipper will let you have a go at the helm for photo opportunity (but he is in command) . Moored about 150 yards off shore and a launch would take you to the island from the boat or you can dive off and swim . The water is amazing . Snorkelling (or power snorkelling for a fee) in crystal sea or enjoy the glass bottom boat . On shore a great bbq style lunch is waiting for you and a KAVA ceremony also . Beach volleyball is good fun especially watching the Kava enthusiasts trying to return the serve or a spike . Like I said crew welcomed us with music and that set the mood for the entire day . They all did their job well and you can help them raise or lower the sails to get a feel of it . It is all part of the experience . You can get a good view of the sleeping giant from the vessel also . Bring a towel and sunscreen . I shall end review by saying Thank You .

Amazing crew and beautifully planned day out! did some snorkeling and although the coral was not amazing, we did get to see a few fish and star fish. The crew made the day memorable as they were involved in every activity and had a great sense of humour. If you want a day where you are taken to a remote island and have the option to play beach volleyball, snorkel, go on glass bottom boat or just hang out to get a bit of sun - I highly recommend this day trip. The food served was absolutely delicious and we have some live music on the way back to Denarau by the crew themselves! Do bring a hat, sunscreen and sunnies though as you will definitely need them!

So many good things to say about this cruise. First of all, the crew. They are super friendly, extremely attentive and boy can they sing. They are playful and informative. The boat has lots of options for shady or sunny seating. The route sailed is beautiful. They start you off with bubbly or mimosa's and pastries. All you want. My one disappointment was we motored both ways. I was hoping for a sail but first of all the winds weren't right and it's a huge amount of work to hoist the sails. But I still loved motoring out there.
Once on the little private island I was pretty happy.
It's just beautiful. The snorkeling was fine. The reef is quite damaged but we still saw a lot. Indigo blue starfish, neons, zebra's and some parrot fish. And many others. You have an option to rent power snorkel equipment which will get you further out and you apparently see more. We didn't do this.
Lunch was fine. What you would expect for a picnic.
The fish and chicken were very good. Beer is plentiful and unlimited. Kava is also available.
A huge storm blew in in the afternoon and they battened down the picnic shelter. It was great and fairly short. Our sail home was fun. Everyone was happy and the crew were playing guitars and ukuleles and singing fun songs. Overall I was super happy at the end of the day. We were taken by minibus back to our hotel.

Perfect hosts to a perfect spot. One of their guys realised it was my first time snorkeling and "held my hand" so to speak, which made it a significantly better trip. The staff are super friendly, the food was top notch - vegetarian option was available on request at booking.

The most amazing adventure of a lifetime, the staff are all so incredibly friendly and full of fun and laughter and went above and beyond to make it the most amazing time for everyone.
Special shout out to Victor who when seeing my partner and I were snorkling in the shallows, as I was a first timer and not a confident swimmer came out and helped us set up. Victor then said for us both to put a hand each on his shoulders and took us out to the deeper water with his motorized scooter, he didn't want us to miss out on how amazing it is out there and was so incredibly supportive and understanding and gave us the most unforgettable time of our lives that we will never forget. We even got to feed fish that swam all around us and see Dori and Nemo.
Honestly couldn't rate this cruise and team any higher 10/10.
They have delish food across the journey and drinks on the ready, they also were amazing having a large tank of water they bring so that instead of them giving you a new water bottle each time instead you would refill when needed.
The glass bottom boat is also amazing giving such an incredible way to see the beautiful corals and underwater life view.
It's a True adventure I would do 100 times over.
