When you get to Castaway Island, you have free time to do whatever makes you happy. Snorkel near the coral reefs, take advantage of the access to Castaway Island Resort's pool, or try other water sports, such as kayaking and windsurfing (extra costs may apply). If you’ve got kids with you, have a break and drop them off at the kids' club (additional costs, payable direct). Lunchtime is a memorable affair with delicious local cuisine at a restaurant by the beach. The fun isn’t over when you board the boat to go home either—enjoy onboard entertainment and a tropical refreshment. The day ends with a return journey to your hotel.

We did the full day and booked out tickets through viator. 2xA 2x kids 6,3yrs We had the most amazing time plenty of room on the beach for everyone and the bbq lunch was fantastic! The unlimited drinks was great as it’s very hot so you want to stay hydrated at all times, we did a snorkeling trip also included and went out and saw some reef sharks and lots of fish and coral. The whole process from arriving on the island, to instructions and information, friendliness and great BBQ lunch!! We loved it! A smaller boat takes you to the Beach from the large air conditioned boat but it’s only a few minutes and a lovely way to arrive. The BBQ lunch was delicious and free drinks all day! No text, message or phone call.Very disappointing - I booked this tour several weeks ago and was informed pickup would be from our hotel - The Outrigger. To check this I tried to get in tourch with South Sea Cruises. No replies. Outcome was a very professional agent at Outrigger informed us "No pick up from here - this is a half day cruise - pick up is for full day cruises only". If I had known this I would have had time to arrange suitable travel. Due to lack of response I had no other option but to cancel a trip we were really looking forward to. On the day of our booking, the weather was terrible—pouring rain with no sign of improvement. Anyone familiar with Fiji knows how unpredictable monsoonal weather can be, and with a 19-month-old baby, it simply didn’t make sense to transfer to an island for half a day under such conditions. There’s minimal shelter, and we would have been stuck outside the Club restaurant in the rain, which is not ideal for families with young children. We held off making a final decision until the last hour, hoping the weather might clear up, but it didn’t. The rain was torrential, not just a light drizzle. Their website explicitly states the tour operates only in good weather, and this clearly wasn’t good weather. Despite this, when we tried to cancel due to the circumstances, South Sea Cruises insisted they couldn’t refund or cancel our trip, citing their terms and conditions. This left us feeling frustrated and disheartened. We invested a significant amount of money into our Fiji holiday, but this experience soured the entire trip. As a family with two young children, it was entirely unsuitable to proceed, but it seemed our situation didn’t matter to the company. Had we been adults alone, we might have gone ahead, but our children’s well-being took priority. This experience left us feeling like nothing more than a dollar figure, despite Fiji’s reputation for its family-friendly culture and love for children. Unfortunately, I now regret booking with South Sea Cruises and would not recommend them to others. Such an array of activities from snorkeling, diving, kayaking, paddleboarding to getting a massage. I spend my time diving and snorkeling, the reef was beautiful and we got to see reef sharks! Mel from the dive centre was very knowledgeable and took me for a wonderful dive, while also refreshing my knowledge (certified diver). Anyone can dive whatever your level! - Kathryn A0 contributionsBeautiful island for a half day tripUnfortunately most of the activities were cancelled because of high winds - no kayaking, glass bottom boat and snorkelling so there was limited things to do with my 6 year old. This was definitely not the fault of the island management - they made the decision for our safety. We still enjoyed the pool, we loved the cultural singing and dancing and the food was yum. My wife and I wanted to experience this popular Mamanuca Island grouping that's the focus of tourism in Fiji. This well organized daytrip, taking 12 hours from our morning bus pickup to the evening dropoff, met that goal.
Our 2014 83' Cougar II Ferry departed full(~200 passengers) at 9AM and made 2 island stops(Serenity & Treasure) with boat to boat transfers, then the dock at Mana before the 12 of our group was transfered to Qalito/Castaway, with a low tide wet landing.
We enjoyed the buffet lunch, walking the paths among their 65 traditionally thatched Fiji style bures/bungalows and swam in the adult/quiet pool.
Our return ferry, boarded dry at high tide, made 2 stops coming back to Denaru, where luggage was sorted with passengers and bused home.
What a full day guided by a competent/friendly staff.

We enjoyed our time at Castaway Island. It's a nice resort far away from Nadi in the Mamanuca island group. The resort itself has a restaurant, gift shop, adult pool area (although families hang out there, which wasn't wonderful), and a kid pool area. The public/common areas of the resort is not that large.
Non-motorized water sports, like kayaks and paddle boards, are available, as well as snorkeling. There's not a large area to do these activities, given the busy water ways.
It's a beautiful island with beautiful views. You certainly get to escape Nadi and the busy port, but a downside is it feels like 2-3 hours of the 9 hour trip are spent on the ferry to/from Castaway Island from Denarau Island. Malamala Beach Club offered the same activities and amenities while only being 25 minutes from Denarau Island.
The staff on the island were friendly, but because it is an actual resort and we were on a day pass, it did feel a bit "Scarlet Letter" being the only ones wearing the colored wristband on the island.
All in all, not the worst place to visit, but there are closer, cheaper, and more relaxing islands, in our opinion.

I have travelled South Seas multiple times and it's always been a great service but today they really outdid themselves for my family. We had a tight connection and some rough seas so the boat was running a little behind. I had booked an airport transport with them and they not only got our bags off first and let us off the boat first- but helped pull one of our bags- got us straight into their large bus and took off with us straight away to get us to the airport in time. Nobody else was on the bus because they didn't want to make us wait! Absolutely incredible service as well as just being awesome, invested and caring people. Thank you to all the staff that got us on our plane and back to Australia on time. ♡

Great boat ride to many of the islands dropping off guests that were spending their day at one of the sister islands. We left the port at 9:00 am and it took 2 hours to get to Castaway Island. It rained most of the day but I was very frustrated that the “ADULTS ONLY” pool was taken over by nearly 20 yelling & screaming kids. When I asked the server why they don’t enforce their rules the guy just shrugged and said that the kids don’t like the kids pool. WTF!!!
The buffet was just okay and the drinks were good but absolutely watered down or very small pours!
Finally one of my biggest complaints was the fact that we got dropped off last AND we were the first ones to get picked up. That means we spent almost as much time getting to and back from Castaway Island as we did actually on the island! We absolutely won’t go back, complete waste of time and money!!
The buffet was just okay and the drinks were good but absolutely watered down or very small pours!
Finally one of my biggest complaints was the fact that we got dropped off last AND we were the first ones to get picked up. That means we spent almost as much time getting to and back from Castaway Island as we did actually on the island! We absolutely won’t go back, complete waste of time and money!!

We were lucky with the weather, although it was quite windy. We had a host show us around the island, the boat ride out was easy to navigate and the island itself didn’t have a very busy vibe - just a lot of families with younger children. The reason I’m only giving it 3 stars is we came here for the day mainly to snorkel and it was a huge disappointment- as we arrived all the hotel guests were boarding a boat to go out snorkeling for the day and now I can see why. There was hardly any fish off the north side and around the reef, the water had a very strong current on the reef and it was quite a way out but a lot of the coral is dead. It’s an expensive day - beverages aren’t included either

We loved this day out. The boat trip was enjoyable, seeing other island destinations and our time at Castaway Island was fantastic. The food and service were great and we enjoyed the time with less people about compared to the crowd at Nativit Resort where we were staying

We had a great day trip to Castaway Island. Ticketing and boarding was very easy. We had a calm and scenic boat ride out to Castaway Island via a couple of other islands to drop off visitors.
Our guide Merewai was fantastic - friendly, funny, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. She made our day most enjoyable.
Castaway Island Resort was very nice - the staff are lovely, the facilities are great, food was really nice and plentiful, the beach is beautiful and it was a great place to relax.

Fantastic day on castaway. Merewai was our host and took us onto the island where she showed us around with lots of information. We then snorkelled and swam and enjoyed the island hospitality. We met Merewai again before re boarding the boat and she told us lots of things about Fiji and the islands. Felt like we had our own private host. Would highly recommend. What a great day and lovely host and people.

Great trip fully recommend. Trip out took about 1hr30min with two drop offs to other idealistic islands which were beautiful. Buffet lunch was good and facilities amazing. Snorkelling was okay from the beach but had the opportunity to go further out which we did not do. It’s a lazy day in the sun or activities available whatever suits you. Drinks not included.

It pleases us to read that you had a fantastic time, enjoyed the idyllic islands with the relaxed vibe of the trip! It's also great to hear that the buffet lunch and facilities were amazing.

We had a fantastic day as castaway island on our day tour. Merewai our tour guide was very good at showing us the island, and she was so funny and great to talk to! We really loved her and she does her job very well.
The water was nice and clear and we enjoyed swimming and snorkelling in the water. We found a sea cucumber in the water whilst snorkelling and we watched with fascination as it shot its insides out, which looked like tentacles.
We enjoyed the delicious cocktails and lunch on the island too. It was a nice smooth ride there and back on the boat. Was an amazing day!
