- turnerma00SuperbReally well organised trip to Sacromonte vineyard. Communication was excellent and everything was exactly as advertised. It’s a great way of seeing an interesting and really beautiful vineyard, tasting delicious wines, enjoying great food, and letting someone else do the driving. Also a really interesting group of people. There are regular tours. Looking forward to the next one.
- GottaGoTraveler5500Outstanding ExperienceVeronica provides top notch, professional service and is very knowledgeable about everything wine plus of course of her beautiful country. We spent 3 weeks touring the country and Veronica coordinated 4 outstanding wine experiences for us. Additionally, she recommended other vineyards, restaurants and sights for us to visit.
- X9142AFbenjaminb00A great experienceA great experience filled with information about the wine making process and relaxation, all while getting to try new wines along the way
- CalgaryTraveler3000Wonderful! Absolutely recommended!I live in Montevideo and wanted to learn more about the Uruguay wine scene. I tried out Wine Explorers and found Victoria and Tavis to be excellent guides and very communicative. They are very organized and do the tours in both English and Spanish. The bodegas we have visited have all been rockstar wines and a unique and wonderful experience for someone new to the wine scene and for a seasoned connoisseur. I highly recommend going on these tours.
- dawndB4237VK00Wonderful day, wonderful guide.Veronica was a terrific guide and her English is perfect. Note that you should book the tour through her website.
- dwandmea00Great day trip from cruise shipMy wife and I were visiting Montevideo on a cruise and booked a day trip with Wine Explorers Uruguay. Our guide, Tavis, was excellent. We visited two very different wineries, with interesting tours and tastings at both and a lovely lunch at the second.
- Jonathan G00Great for visitors as well as residentsIf you're visiting Uruguay, this is a great way to see places that are off the main tourist trail. The tours are well run and all you have to do is show up. You'll meet other visitors as well as Uruguayans and others who live in Montevideo. Uruguayan wineries are small so you're experience will be really up-close and personal.
- D4919BYrons00Fantastic ExperienceMy wife and I come from Washington's Wine Country and thought we'd miss out on great wine tours. NOT AT ALL! These trips have been amazing. We've toured wonderful local vineyards, tasted amazing wines and eaten tasty food. And...the people have been a blast to be around. I would highly recommend, whether as a one time tourist or an ongoing experience. We look forward to a new one every month!!
- Illyxia00Amazing attention, fantastic experienceI have been looking forward to exploring Uruguayan wine country, and I am so, so happy that we found Verónica to show us this world. From the beginning she was a great collaborator, working with us to plan our day in Canelones exactly as we wanted to experience it, taking special attention to make sure our interests and dietary needs were catered to, etc. She stayed in touch with us regularly in the days leading up to our tour, also sharing tips for our time in Montevideo. And the tour itself was fantastic. Verónica really knows Canelones, and has a good relationship with the wine makers there, translating to an immersive, all-inclusive day out (rain or shine). Heartily recommended!
- Greg C00Fantastic Experience for Wine LoversMy wife and I have been living in Montevideo for the past two years and we have been on a number of excursions with Wine Explorers Uruguay. Prior to coming to Uruguay I was not familiar with their wines and had no idea of the quality of the wines produced here. Through our trips with the Wine Explorers we visited many wineries (referred to as "bodegas" here) and have never been disappointed. Most of the trips have been to small, family run boutique bodegas and they have been memorable. Even though most trips are to smaller bodegas we have also visited large, established vineyards like Garzon. The trips organized by the Wine Explorers include a comfortable and clean bus to the vineyard, a tour of the bodega, an extensive tasting of the different wines produced there and a delicious lunch. They even cater to vegetarians which is not common at all in this meat-loving country. Hosts Veronica and Tavis are exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable. The entire experience with the Wine Explorers has been one of the highlights of our time in South America. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
- kuklisd00Great ExperienceJust got back from a long weekend in Montevideo which included two days of wine tours with Veronica of Wine Explorers. This was my first time in Uruguay and I was very interested in trying their wines but I wasn't sure what to expect. I ended up touring three wineries over two days which was perfect because touring doesn't begin to describe the experience. Veronica has great contacts at the wineries and the tours were much beyond what you would normally expect with an incredible personal experience at each winery not to mention fabulous wines and delicious empanadas! If you are in Uruguay and are at all interested in wines from Uruguay Wine Explorers should be at the top of your list.
- winniew14400Wine Explorers UruguayOur first trip with this activity group - we went to a small bodega in Atlantida, where we took a walk through the vineyard and toured the beautifully hand-painted bottling & processing rooms as well. Then we all gathered in the family's summer house for a wonderfully delectable meal and tasting! My husband and I were so happily impressed we volunteered to return and stomp grapes during the harvest! When we all got back on the coach there were several moments of contented bottle placement before sighing and snoozing our way back home. I am exceedingly pleased we have found Wine Explorers Uruguay - definitely the best monthly habit we've ever formed!

group of 4 of us visited Pizzorno for white wines and Artesana for reds. Totally recommend both places. We had a fab lunch at Artesana, although if you don't eat meat it might not be for you. There was an exuberant group of Brazilians there too adding to the atmosphere.
Safe driver and decent van. Veronica v flexible putting together the package for us, picking us up in MVD and dropping us off in Colonia.

We started the day going to a medium-sized family-owned winery for a tour with beautiful views of the property and surrounding areas, and learned about the different variables that are taken into account for wine-making. The staff is clearly passionate about their craft, evident in their knowledge and flair in guiding us through tasting the types of wines offered.
The second half of the tour was a larger winery which was also family-owned, with a great lunch and selection of wines. I was very lucky to have beautiful sunny weather, but also got unlucky with the amount of other unrelated groups that arrived, which made things a little busier than expected.
Mateo is an excellent driver, who was patient and efficient but also friendly and informative of the local culture.
