What to expect
Start your day trip in Montevideo with hotel pickup. Relax on the coastal drive to the lovely resort town of Punta del Este, which features the posh neighborhoods of San Rafael, Cantagril, and Beverly Hills. Your guide points out features of the landscape and shares the history of the region with onboard commentary. Admire the seaside homes of La Barra del Maldonado, a charming old fishing town. Then continue on to visit two popular beaches. At Playa Brava, snap photos of the must-see sculpture by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal: "La Mano" (The Hand), also known as "Los Dedos" (The Fingers), depicts five human fingers protruding from the sand. On the other side of the peninsula enjoy the ocean views at Playa Mansa, where you have free time for lunch (own expense).  Afterward, head to Casa Pueblo, a Mediterranean-style villa and art gallery perched on a cliff atop Punta Ballena. Designed by Uruguayan painter and sculpture Carlos Páez Vilaró, the 9-story, whitewashed building includes a museum and gallery (own expense) where you can learn about the life of the artist and the history behind his creation. After a full day touring Punta del Este, return back to your Montevideo hotel.

Very beautiful Tour
Mar 2020
We really enjoyed this trip, but found the guide a bit short on details to the english speaking passengers. The tour covers some beautiful countryside and well worth taking the tour.

Great Trip
This was a group tour to several beach towns about two hours south of Montevideo. There were about 15 people on the tour and it was in a nice air conditioned bus.

First stop was the town of Piriapolis. It was founded in 1890 by Francisco Piria, a Uruguayan businessman of Italian descent. While it’s a beach front town, it is somewhat mountainous. Most of Uruguay is flat but Piriapolis has a Rio de Janeiro feel to it where it goes from the beach to the mountains. We stopped at Saint Anthony mountain to be able to see the city from above.

Next stop was to Casa Pueblo, which is a building constructed by a Uruguayan artist named Carlos Paez Vilaro. It took over 40 years to build and is currently a hotel, museum, and personal residence. Some people say it reminds them of buildings in Santorini, Greece; others say it has an Antoni Gaudi feel from Barcelona. It pays tribute to his son Carlos Miguel who was one of the 17 Uruguayan survivors that crashed into the Andes Mountains in 1972 as depicted in the movie “Alive”. They say this spot has the best sunsets in Uruguay.

Last stop was to the beach town of Punta Del Este. This is the “high end” resort town of Uruguay. They call it the Monaco of the South. We drove thru a neighborhood they refer to as “Beverly Hills” where each home had its own city block. They pointed out the most expensive house in the area at $15 million. Other than all the fancy homes and high end skyscraper condo buildings lining the beach, the big tourist draw and Instagram picture spot is a place on the beach called “La Mano” (The Hand). It depicts five human fingers partially emerging from the sand.

Before heading back, we stopped for a late lunch/early dinner as a group at a restaurant named Napoleon’s and they recommended a local fish called Brotola. I tried it and it was delicious. It’s a thick white fish that was grilled perfectly and served with baked sweet potatoes and salad. So yummy!

All in all it was a great day!

A Lovely Day out
The guide was pleasant and the driver was v good and careful . We had a nice stop at Piriapolis a pretty resort town with a beach . Then we had a tour of Punta Del Este . After lunch we were brought to see La Mano ( The Hand ) the famous sculpture on the beach . After that it was on to Casapueblo which for us was the highlight. A long day but well worth it .

Nice full day trip to Punta del Este, including a visit to CasaPueblo and Piriapolis. Best to visit in high-season, though it can get very busy.

Lovely views and so much peace and quiet
Jul 2019
If you like peace and quiet and don’t care if it is cold and hardly anybody there, then you will love it. It is winter and therefore nobody is sunbathing at the beaches just walking their rambla and enjoying the gazebo at their port. I loved that it wasn’t crowded and the few there were just sitting there, I know I was enjoying the peace and quiet. There are a few restaurants open and I enjoyed a nice view from one of them. Good food. It was to take bus from Montevideo to Punta del este, I was back in the evening. Great for one day trip!!

Perfect rainy day
The day trip was informative well organized and interesting. Despite the weather which presented visibility challenges, our tour guide, Mikeyal, was a constant ray of sunshine. She flowed effortlessly among three languages and displayed her charming personality and humor throughout the day. A very worthwhile experience!

Very nice bit a little long!
May 2019 • Couples
It was a beautiful journey, the bus was very confortable. Two suggestions: it last too long, they told it will be a 10 hours and it took 12 hours! the guide was not very good there was some lack of relevant information.

Stunning view!
Jan 2019
It's a magical place to visit. More than the architecture the place offer you a rich cultural experience! Make sure you'll have enough time to take a coffee while you enjoy the stunning view on the balconies.
