Half-Day Private tour to Larco Museum with Lunch at Café del Museo Restaurant

By LimaTours
Transportation service will pick you up from your hotel and will transfer you to the traditional Pueblo Libre district, to visit the Larco Museum. Founded by Rafael Larco Hoyle in 1926, the museum is located inside a viceregal mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid of the 7th century. The visit to this museum enables us to understand over five thousand years of a high degree of development of the cultures that flourished before the Inca Empire. It shows the most complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver artifacts as well as pieces of erotic art. Over 45,000 archaeological artifacts bear witness of five thousand years of Peruvian history. At the end of the tour, you may do your shopping at the museum shop. You will then be transferred to the Café del Museo restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch.

          Great ambience, but lackluster meal
This was a mixed experience: the food was decent, but lacking in presentation. I ordered the beef tenderloin, and the meal that arrived was off-putting in appearance. Dessert was the highlight, even though the restaurant lost our request for something special for our birthday celebration. Had we felt welcome upon arrival--why were we not offered to order a drink while we waited?--and not been asked explicitly for a tip at the end of our meal, the experience would have been much more enjoyable.

          Sloppy, shambolic & insensitive.
Appalling - trip of a lifetime ruined by this company . We were booked to be picked up at 0415 from hotel and back by 1715 . We had dealt with Cintya Valverde and complied with all requests and had her confirm all was in order . So imagine when our friend gets a message for me ( sloppy to say the least ) as we are having an early dinner for the early start, which states it’s now 0730 and return at 2200! So evening ruined and next evening ruined and very late return when we have to leave for Cusco airport at 0600! A proper nightmare having paid a fortune for this holiday and waited 50 years to visit Machu Picchu . Just disgusting ! I will make my life’s works to ensure all our friends and contacts hear about it . Social Media can be a blessing

          Amazing place for Dinner
Amazing food, great service and the place is incredible, the view of the sea and the designe of the place is one of my favorite places to go. We had a dinner with 75 persons from different countries and all the comments were great, we had a fix menu and the service was impecable. I totally recommend the Causa of shrimps and crab and the seafood rice.

          Ruins with nice views
I found the museum is very well put together and interesting. I thought the site had beautiful sights and a nice quiet walk. It’s a little far from Lima but Uber is not expensive and the way back you can take a bus right across the street from the site. Problem with the bus is that it takes twice as much time.

          Too Rushed!
The tour was very rushed. The guide did not care if the visitors are able to keep pace or not. Not enough time to look around, especially at the Larco Museum.

          Inca Trail Trek
Excellent experience with our guide Speedy Rudy. The cook and porters were phenomenal as well. The trek was both educational and physically demanding. I felt we were well cared for for the entirety of the trip.

          Amazing service!! Epic experience!
I highly recommend Lima tours! From David to the cooks and porters to our favorite person Rudy! What an amazing experience! Our guide Rudy was the perfect person to represent the passion and love for his culture and country. Our cook Diego made the most amazing food! Our waiter Saul was attentive and professional. The porters were awesome to watch in action as they scaled the countryside with full packs like it was nothing. This was an epic adventure that my friends and i will never forget! Peru is such a beautiful vast place with so much history. We really appreciate Rudy and his ability to retain information and deliver it with such passion. Thank you Lima Tours for making out adventure in Peru one we will never forget! I cant forget about my porter Javier who met me at the trailhead when my flight was delayed and he got me caught up to my group within 2 1/2 hours!! Thank you all for such an amazing experience! We will be back to adventure with Lima tours!!

          Could be better
We didn't have enough time to see the Larco Museum properly. We missed some interesting rooms. The rest of the tour was ok.

One very good Huaca and one not so good
The guide, Carlos, was extremely knowledgeable and spoke perfect English and explained everything very well. However we found the Huaca Mateo Salado was not so interesting. We were the only people there! The Huaca Pucllana had lots of visitors but not crowded. The museum explains it well and the Huaca is in good condition and well maintained. Very interesting ! If we were only able to do the Pucllana we would have but the tour included both If you go independently the only guides are Spanish speaking.

          Lima Tours Inka Trail
We have just completed the 4 day (3 night) Inka Trail trek to Machu Pichu and what an amazing experience! Our guide Yaritza, was outstanding; we have done several guided hikes over the years and she was probably our best ever guide. Her knowledge both along the trek and at the Mach Pichu site was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed her company and felt we were in ‘safe hands’…….she was always sensitive to how we were feeling and adjusted the pace of the walk accordingly. It’s a tough hike and at the times we were struggling, she was there to offer encouragement and support. In addition to our wonderful guide, we were also supported by a superhuman team of porters. These guys are incredible…..walking ahead (each carrying around 20kg) to set up lunch and our overnight camp. Our chef, William, served an impressive menu each day, catering for dietary needs and providing ample food for us hungry hikers. Machu Pichu has been on our wish list for sometime and did not disappoint. The hike enabled us to see several other Inka sites along the way and give a fuller appreciation of the Inka civilisation and history. Machu Pichu was a very rewarding end to our Lima Tours Inka Trail hike!

          Trip to Humantay Lake
Lima Tours and our fantastic guide, Frank, ensured we arose early, and with great skill our driver (Fernando) delivered us to base to ensure we hiked up to Humantay Lake before everyone else. We were able to enjoy the spectacular scenery all to ourselves. The weather was perfect and Frank’s commentary outstanding, which ensured we had a very special experience. We could not recommend Lima Tours, and especially Frank more highly. He is a ‘super guide’ with an outstanding command of English and of all things Peru, both national and local.

          Best ceviche!
Highly recommend! The food was all delicious. The ceviche was fresh and oh so spicy with the rocoto pepper. The view is even better when you get to watch the sunset. This was something we stumbled upon and luckily my boyfriend spoke fluent Spanish because no one spoke English. Definitely a great find that locals love to hang out at. Not sure how we got in since we had hiking boots but everyone was dressed to impress.

        Family birthday celebration.

Grateful for the good service, delicious hors d'oeuvres and food that Luis Rivera and his staff made available to us to have a pleasant time with the family.

As their name says, they serve dishes with avocado but, in addition, they have a variety of dishes for those who do not like avocado. The place is small but it is very nice decorated and they have affordable prices and good service. Excellent food! Success and thank you for receiving us (we were 20 people).
