About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JSRSinNOVA0 contributionsFun afternoon learning about foods, culture and historyLorena was a great guide. She took us into markets and street stands we’d never visit on our own, introducing us to common fruits, corn and other treats. Also, we walked to the main plaza and she shared some key Lima and Peru history. She took us to one of her favorite restaurants, based on its history, where we had wonderful ceviche. We had a really fun time with her and doing the tour. Also, she was great to coordinate with. I needed to connect for some details and she was super responsive and she communicated logistics.Written February 17, 2025
- lcsmd0 contributionsAmazing tour with foodExcellent tour with Yvonne. It was the perfect blend of history/information and delicious snacks and foods to try. I especially loved the attention to sanitation, as we recently had a rough experience with another food tour in South America. So highly recommend this tour!Written February 16, 2025
- Matt R0 contributionsExcellent!Choji provided an excellent tour of Lima - we hit the historical center as well as the central markets and Chinatown. Excellent stops along the way to experience a bit of Lima’s food samplings and great explanation of what I was seeing. Highly recommended picking Choji as your guide in Lima!!Written February 14, 2025
- Brie45700 contributionsIf you only have a few hours in Lima, give Alfredo a call!We had a 10 hour layover at the Lima airport and thought it would be fun to see the city of Lima instead of sitting at the airport all day. Alfredo was kind enough to arrange for us to be picked up and dropped off at the airport which was a big plus. We enjoyed seeing the city of Lima through Alfredo's eyes. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out things we never would have noticed. His English was very good and easy to understand. If planning to go to Lima, we would definitely steer you his way. Thanks Alfredo for a great day!Written February 8, 2025
- kariw4060 contributionsDo this tour!Choji was awesome. His food tour was one of the highlights for us whilst in Peru. He is an extremely kind person apparent on how he treated those that were less fortunate that we came in contact with. His knowledge regarding our stops and the food we sampled was so interesting. Highly Highly recommend this tour with ChojiWritten February 6, 2025
- 2victoriay0 contributionsSuper fun tour and great for kidsWe absolutely loved our tour with Choji. He was super informative on the history of not only Peruvian food but how it linked to the rest of the world. It was so interesting. He also managed to keep my 4 year old engaged and having fun and going to the market was such an eye opener for her little eyes and ours. My husband is a Peruvian native and he loved it and learnt a few new things! Choji is a an excellent guide and this was a fantastic morning we loved it! Do it! Highly recommendWritten February 2, 2025
- Brie45700 contributionsIf you only have a few hours in Lima, give Alfredo a call!Alfredo was a pleasure to journey with through Lima. He was friendly, knowledgeable , and his English was very good. We could not see everything he wanted to show us due to time restrictions but we did get a feel for the city. Thanks Alfredo ! Go to Tripadvisor pageWritten February 1, 2025
- SANsna0 contributionsGreat tour for Lima street food!My wife and I booked a tasting tour with Choji and cannot be happier. We were able to communicate before the tour using WhatsApp and that made coordinating our meeting time and location easier. Choji is the perfect tour guide for the 10 tastings of Lima. He is a Peruvian with Japanese roots which provides very interesting insights. Choji has also travelled extensively so he is able to add his experience in other places to contrast with Peru. On top of that, his grandmother had a bakery right in the city center and he grew up in that area. As a result, you get an inside look with his deep connections. The tour covers a lot of the "daily" food of typical Peruvians and also multiple districts (new, old, Chinatown, and the market). We walked for nearly 3 hours and ate a lot of food! At each stop, Choji doesn't just explain what the food is, he talked about the history of the store and the owners. He took us into the kitchen of the oldest bar in Lima and explained how they are all descendants of the workers that took over when the owners left. At each stop, he introduced each owner and you just feel like he is sharing his relationships with you. You can sense the pride he has in sharing his insights but also in ensuring that we had a good tour. Unlike some of the other tours, Choji will also participate in eating the food at certain stops and you just see how much he enjoys the food! Choji also shared his experience growing up in Peru as a Okinawan which was very interesting to me. With the Japanese having such a big influence in the cuisine of Peru and Choji having culinary experience, it was a great opportunity to learn. This tour is a good way to learn the local foods of Lima. Choji doesn't just provide the food but adds his fun and immersive personality throughout the tour. I enjoyed our 3 hours with Choji!Written January 26, 2025
- nathaliei0 contributionsLima street food yourAmazing tour with amazing guides, Lorena and Choji. Highly recommend, we weren’t rushed at all and tool their time to explain the food culture and some history.Written January 20, 2025

- Kristine F0 contributionsA Peruvian festival of flavors.Ivonne took us on not only a delicious food and drink tour of Lima but also explained many of the historical city center buildings, monuments, and architecture to us. The food tastings were excellent choices! We had such a wide variety of food and drinks. Our favorites were causa (chicken and some veggies wrapped in mashed potatoes), the traditional churros, ceviche, pisco sours and the Choco Museum. You will not be disappointed with this tour!Written January 13, 2025
- sorayac6900 contributionsLorena is amazingI had a great time with Lorena, she has so much knowledge about her amazing city and I learnt a lot about the history and current climate of Lima as well as trying loads of great food. - Ajmoser9290 contributionsCome for the food, stay for the history.Excellent tour for the history of Lima. The churros were insanely good. - danasV2216JG0 contributionsAwesome way to see Lima through the eyes of a localI could not recommend this tour more highly. My boyfriend and I purchased a private tour with Choji. He very clearly loves and knows his city very well and took us to many spots we would have walked right past! My boyfriend has been coming to Peru for many years and says he wishes he had done this tour a long time ago.Written December 18, 2024
- K1846HKdavidl0 contributionsThe One tour you can't miss.We are touring South America and we love Lima, Peru the most thanks to Choji. He adapted our local tour to fit our needs. He was considerate, fun and engaging. We saw little places with family histories going back four generations. We would never have found them on our own, nor would we have understood their significance and contribution to local culture. There were so many different flavours on this tour! We learned so much about local culture, Lima, and Peru. This was way more than a fantastic foodie tour! You can't miss it.Written November 27, 2024

Choji is an excellent guide to Lima. We toured Barranco with Choji yesterday and Centro Historico today. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Lima and his easy familiarity with this city is fun and infectious. We feel we are privileged to understand real people, real places and real lives here after touring with Choji, not just see the tourist spots. We also shared extremely good foods. Since Choji is friends with everyone on the streets of Lima, we also feel included in the society, not outsiders. Thank you, young friend.

The walk in Barranco with Ivonne was very pleasant. We started the walking tour on time and all the information received was very interesting. Ivonne took us to see tourist places and galleries but also quiet streets and a beautiful viewpoint of Barranco. We highly recommend the experience for those who want to know more about this place in a short time.

We really enjoyed our time with Richard who showed us around the Barranco barrio. We were two couples. We started by walking through some neighborhoods and found our way to the city square that was bustling with activity on this Sunday morning. A local our art gallery was closed because it was Sunday. Richard improvised by taking us through an area of Barranco where murals done by artist Jade Rivera can be seen. Rivera’s work is found throughout the Barranco barrio where he lives. There is even a small gallery of his work that is not to be missed. Richard was flexible, knowledgeable and responsive to our specific interests modifying the tour to accommodate our curiosities and needs.

Our guide, Choji was with us over 2 days and we enjoyed our time with him. He took us to sample this rotisserie chicken cooked over coals which was delicious. He is a wealth of information so the walking tours of artsy Barranco and downtown Lima proved most interesting. He must know everyone as he had a quick wave and chat to shop owners along the way! His tours are tailored according to your interests so he intuitively knows what his guests would prefer. Well done, Choji and best wishes to you.

Lorena is super sweet. She will cater to your needs to make sure you have a great time. She is patient and kind and complimentary. She shows you interesting places and has a wealth of knowledge. She is quick to respond on What's App and gives her suggestions where to visit and what to eat in Lima. We loved the beautiful cafe she took us to, to enjoy the best breakfast ever! She really showed us a good time and is a really good person. Lorena is amazing!
