    History great, food okay
We really enjoyed the history provided by our guide. The food was just okay (especially as compared to our Cusco food tour). We stopped at two Chinese food spots (why?). Fruit at the market was fantastic however... There should have been a bit more of a focus and explanation of why we're were going to each food spot.

Good food and city sites tour.
This was a good tour of the city. I expected small bites of food and drink but most offerings were more than that! We were all quite full! A good selection of local foods and the tour offered walking through areas of Lima we would not have seen. Enjoyable!

    Fun street food stroll
Our evening street food tour was fabulous! Our host Marco guided us through the streets of downtown to multiple stops, all the while sharing information on Peruvian cuisine, culture, history, and architecture and providing relatable descriptions in an enthusiastic manner. Tamales, churros, dim sum, exotic fruits, pisco sours, piccarones, antichuchos, and more! We ate and drank well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

    Fun, tasty and insightful
We had a wonderful time wandering around the historic center and trying foods we wouldn't otherwise known about. Our guide was fun and insightful, and the food very tasty - especially the pan con chicharrón. One of the highlights of our trip in Peru!

    Interesting Tour. Minimal drinks.
Great way to see a new part of Lima. If you think this is a food and drink tour, the name somewhat misrepresents what it is (there is only one tavern. not tavernS) - you get a small drink at the beginning and the end and will be rushed if you try to order your own drink. The other people on the tour made it worthwhile. Our tour guide was a bit rigid and had a difficult time responding to our group’s eclectic sense of humor. Would recommend a pisco sour at the Gran Bolivar before the tour!

Great experience. Down to earth and into the nitty gritty of the flavor of Lima. You truly get a feel of what the culture is all about through the your palate.

Don’t miss! Such fun, ask for Cecilia!
This tour was an amazing intro to Lima! Cecelia went out of her way to explain the cultural influences of Peruvian street food. She took us to local areas where we sampled from a variety of stalls all of them delicious. Highly recommend!

At the end of the day, the tour was very nice. Our tour gudie was personable, answered all our questions, was easy to talk to, all of it. The food was really good, and we learned quite a bit of facts from the tour itself.

However, they first take you to one of their own stores and although the store has a good background, with only Peruvian made items, local items, organic items, items from women run businesses, etc., it did take me back a bit.

You go to a few different stops, get a good amount of food, but having done many food tours in many different countries I can say I
do not feel it was worth the money you spent on it. On other tours we got a lot more education about the country, culture, and history, saw a lot more of the city itself (this tour felt very centralized in a few blocks), and got a lot more food, for less money.

So overall, not a bad tour, just not worth the price.

Hi Roya, Thank your for taking the time to leave this review. We are happy that you enjoyed the taste of the food as well as the company of our tour guide, Johana. The first stop indeed takes place in our store where guests can learn more about our social impact program, while learning about 10+ ingredients that are the base of Peruvian gastronomy, followed by a fruits and chocolate tasting session – including a game where everyone is invited to challenge their tastebuds based on the information provided on the different types of cacao and their profiles in Peru. This is for us a fundamental stop for guests to be exposed to the rich biodiversity Peru has to offer through our gastronomy, which provides a lot more context for the following food stops – this can't be done anywhere else in Lima, that's why we decided to host it within our walls. This walking food tour covers the district of Barranco only in terms of sightseeing, as stated in the tour description, and we are sorry if you had the expectation to see more of Lima by booking our tour. In terms of culture, history and education: in each stop we share with guests how the dishes are prepared but also their cultural and historical context (when they were created, how the ingredients arrived to Peru through migrations, etc). We even have two infographics that we created to show our guests how coffee and pisco are made – I have done lots of food tours myself and I haven't seen that anywhere! We know for a fact that adding more content would make the tour too rich in information for most guests – we also want to keep it "fun" and not sound too much like history teachers for the full 4 hours. As you mentioned in your review that Johana was personable and answered all your questions, I'm wondering which information you were interested in wasn't provided to you. I'm sure Johana wouldn't have mind a couple of extra questions. Finally, in terms of food portions, most - if not all - our guests up until now seem to be generally satisfied, but we will take into account your feedback to see how we can improve this aspect. We are sorry our offering didn't meet your expectations. We'd love if you could reach out to us with all your suggestions.

In keeping with tradition of traveling, I booked a food tour in Lima hungry for knowledge and some of the wonderful cuisine available.

My boyfriend and I were greeted by a very friendly guide and the other couple who were participating. We then embarked on four magical hours of discovering the wonderful food available in Peru, tasting some of the best typical Peruvian dishes we had on our visit and learning more about this wonderful city and country.

Outstanding food (and drink) with the knowledgeable, kind and lovely guide Dulce! Highly recommended!

We cannot recommend highly enough this food tour of Lima’s Barranco neighborhood. Lourdes, our guide, treated us to a delightful afternoon of the food, culture and history of that unique, bohemian-seque neighborhood. We were treated to delicious coffee, empanadas, ceviche (with a demonstration of its preparation), Lomo Saltado, and a Pisco Sour (again, with a demonstration on how to prepare it)! In addition, we learned about the history of the neighborhood and discovered the amazing street art and artists that can be found there. If you want to spend a fun, relaxing time exploring a really remarkable part of the city, you cannot do any better than this. (And ask for Lourdes if you can…..she was great, and clearly loves her job! We really enjoyed meeting her and getting to know her!)

I can’t speak highly enough about this tour. Ali exceeded all expectations. Being able to walk around and learn about all the history of the city was wonderful and along the way to stop in to multiple restaurants and markers to learn how things are made or grown and then try them. We would have never been able to get into all the places as quickly as we did or know the special items to order without Ali. We moved along seamlessly through the tour, not too fast and yet I never felt bored. She even recommended places for after our tour to eat or shop and she even helped us exchange money. I would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone new or old to the city. It really was wonderful.

I did the Lima Ultimate Peruvian Food Tour today and let me tell you, it was worth every penny. From starting with cold brew and a Peruvian Empanada for breakfast, to learning how to make Peruvian Ceviche (delicious!) and trying the best Pisco Sour in the city, it is a must for anyone that wants to have a little taste of all the wonderful culinary options that Peru has to offer. My guide, Lourdes, was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about all the dishes we tried plus the incredible street art we past along the way. Could not recommend enough!

We just spent our 2nd day in Lima w Galia, giving us a food & art tour through the Barranco region of Lima. It was awesome!! Each place we stopped was unique and interesting. Sampled food and drinks that make the food scene in Lima extra special a must!! Galia was lovely and informative. It was a pleasure spending the day with her. If you only have a day in Lima, don’t miss this tour.

This food tour was so much fun – it truly felt like going out for the evening with a group of friends! The small group setting gave us all an opportunity to get to know one another, and our guide, Lourdes, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It was definitely one of our favorite tour groups ever!

And the food – so amazing! There were so many styles of foods to try, and everything was delicious. We were treated to several preparation demonstrations, including one in the kitchen of a restaurant! We love to cook (and eat!), so this was perfect!

We highly recommend this experience with Exquisito Peru – it was one of the best parts of our visit!

What a fabulous Lima food tour. From the reservation system, to port pickup, to moving from one stop to another, it was perfect. Our guide, Dulce, had great command of English, had every stop well planned, was excellent in small talk banter, kept the next stop aware of our schedule, and never once did we feel pressure to hurry up or slow down. And the food. All excellent. Dulce gave us history lessons at each stop, large portions, and plenty of time to enjoy it. We had Peruvian fruits, coffee, empanadas, beef stir fry, and rice, seviche, pisco sours, rotisserie chicken, ice cream. All healthy portions. She arranged preparation demos at nearly all the stops as well. And no pressure to “walk through the gift shop” anywhere on the tour. We have done many food tours on our travels and this was one of the best. Bravo Dulce!! Bravo Exquisito!! Bravo Jenny behind the scenes. Do book it!!

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Peruvian cuisine, food preparation, culture, and history. She was very engaging and had a great rapport with the restaurant personnel. This was combined with a wonderful tour of the Barracano bohemian District. This exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it as a way to enjoy the Peruvian cuisine and get to know some of the culture.

I enjoyed a fantastic walking tour in Barranco / Miraflores district with my two friends, guided by Dulce, who was so knowledgeable and as sweet as her name! We started with cold brew coffee and empanadas at beautiful cafe, followed by a tasting in their office shop of local cacao and local fruits, moving on to freshly prepared delicious Ceviche, drinks and appetizers , then Lomo Saltado at a beach restaurant, a lesson in Pisco Sours at one of the oldest Bodegas in town, and finishing up with incredible artisanal ice creams ( I had loukouma and golden berry flavors- so good.) Along the way, the scenery with beautiful flowers and city squares and historic buildings was gorgeous. A wonderful way to experience the fusion food experience that is Peru. Very highly recommend !!
