About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- brunov8740 contributionsExcellent MuseumThis museum is a must if you are in Trujillo. The excavations are still in progress, but very well presented. The museum is modern and explanations are well done. The only negative point is that the road to get there is really bad. We took a half day tour in a mini van. Wehad an excellent guide.Written January 1, 2025
- robertaT1034IW0 contributionsTHE STORY OF TINGO MARIAThis vast region was known as Tingo MarĂa in colonial times, and was the object of unsuccessful Hispanic explorations in search of El Dorado and Paititi, led by conquistadors eager to find new riches and the legendary hidden gold of the Incas. Despite the scarce sources for this period, the author has been able to reconstruct the history of this region from its ancient pre-Incan nations, originally inhabited by Chuscos, Panatahuas, Tingaleses, Payansos, Carapachos, Chaienas, Tulumayos, among other indigenous peoples. Likewise, in the following chapters, the research allows us to appreciate how these were made invisible by the Spanish, since none of the territorial constituency units created during the colony were baptized with the names of the original peoples. This historical omission proves that the territorial demarcation policy reflected the interests and prejudices of the colonizers, a situation that continued until the Republic.Written July 24, 2024

- Shellyakiroff0 contributionsA Guaranteed Thrill Seeker TourExhilarating and fun tour. Close proximity to Parascas town so makes it manageable to do in the morning. Touring through the desert is beautiful. Some definite cliff hanging moments as we went up and down some very steep dunes but always felt safe. Stopped at the very top and did sand surfing. I’m not the biggest thrill seeker but had a lot of fun. 6 people to a car and you are strapped in nicely. Typically 2-3 cars go out at a time. Bring hat and water as it’s a dry heat and you can dehydrate quickly.Written April 1, 2024
- ITRT0 contributionsPeruvian Ancient CulturesIf you are interested in archeological digs or the history of ancient cultures of Peru, a visit to Huaca del Sol (Temple of the Sun) and Huaca de la Luna (Temple of the Moon). These are located a short distance from Truijllo, Peru. Our guide said these temples are believed to have been built by the Moche Empire. The society was an agricultural-based society that built irrigation cans to supply water for their crops. Entering the complex, the first thing you see are huge adobe pyramid-shaped mounds in a vast desert-like landscape. Interestingly, we learned if a building was too small for their needs or in disrepair, the Moche simply built another on top of the original. In the Temple of the Moon, we saw murals in whites, reds, and blues of what looked to be religious figures and mythical beings which means it was once a place of worship. There was a guard watching the area, and there were signs providing background information. I used a cane, so I chose not to walk up to the much larger Temple of the Sun. I was told it has many terraces and tons of adobe bricks. Our guide shared one of the rituals of the Moche. Huan sacrifice was one of the rituals. Two teams of warriors/men would compete, and the losing team were then sacrificed at the temple. The winning team would tie the losers with ropes and bring them to the temple. Their blood was offered to a god. On our way out, we stopped at a small on-site museum, Huacas de Moche, and saw displays of artistic pottery, ceramics, artifacts, and utensils. Please note a visit here requires a lot of walking on sandy paths and up and down the hilly areas. Be aware, this site requires a lot of walking on sandy clay paths, with up and down hilly areas. .Written March 21, 2024

- P563JYaimeem0 contributionsPaid for tour not fulfilledWe paid for our tour on their website. The morning of the tour the operator didn’t show up. They then told us that tourismoi don’t pay their operators and they wouldn’t be doing our tour. No communication whatsoever from tourismoi, not even an email saying they wouldn’t be fulfilling their tour. That we paid for. They are not responding to emails, WhatsApp or anything. As far as we are concerned they are thieves who take your money and don’t provide the service you’ve paid for. Outrageous actually.Written May 4, 2023
- Mel H0 contributionsBad communicationBooked this tour 3-4 days prior with pick up listed. I emailed the tour operator several times on pick up time with no response. I tried calling but it went to voicemail and the WhatsApp number was invalid. I called tripadvisor for help due to no response and after several attempts, they got ahold of the operator 45 min prior to tour time with them saying that they can not do the tour. Now all the other tours are booked for the day. I do not recommend.Written April 8, 2023
- Racefan20160 contributionsDisappointed breakfastBreakfast at Central Cafe was not the experience we had hoped. The waitress was wonderful. The coffee was decent, but our meals were greasy. You could see it on the napkins. Our toast had so much butter it was limp. I am sure some would enjoy it, but just not the place for us.Written April 5, 2023
- ArthurM370 contributionsTemple of the Moon & Chan ChanThis is a review of our private tailor-made trip to Peru with Kouda Travel 3-16 November 2022. At the end of our trip, we added several additional days for travel to Trujillo, Peru, to visit the Moche and Chimu archaeological sites. To the South of Trujillo are the massive Moche ruins of Huaca del Sol (Temple of the Sun) and Huaca de la Luna (the Temple of the Moon). The Temple of Sun is the largest adobe pyramid in the Americas with 130 mill bricks use in its construction. The Temple of the Sun if not open to the public. We started with a walking tour of The Temple of the Moon. Our guide stated there are seven different levels built one atop another. The Temple was decorated in registers of murals that were painted in black, bright red, sky blue, white, and yellow. You can plan for half a day or so for the Moche Ruins. Following our visit, we had lunch in Trujillo. After Lunch we travelled to the North of Trujillo to visit the ruins of Chan Chan. Chan Chan was the capital city of the Chimu civilization and covered 22 square kilometers. The Moche civilization preceded the Inca, and the Chimu Civilization is contemporary with and conquered by the Inca. The archaeological site is situated around seven very large walled compounds. The smallest compound is open to the public and is massive. Exterior walls were 33 feet tall and extensive. Much of the interior site is covered from the elements and otherwise preserved. Like the Moche site, plan for half a day to visit.Written January 31, 2023
- Sinsentido2340 contributionsFelt insecureOnce upon a time, it was beautiful. Now, in 2022, one can only dissuade. The radical Ronderos make tourism impossible. I felt extremely uncomfortable during my last visit. Acquaintances of mine have advised me not to go to Cajamarca again. But I think they were right. Unfortunately. The tension is palpable and people are clearly intimidated. I feel infinitely sorry for the small hotel because they suffer particularly under this situation. SorryWritten January 1, 2023
- CostaRicaBabe0 contributionsDisappointingI was so looking forward to this trip after reading all the glowing reviews of Colca Canyon. Let's start with the positives: We enjoyed seeing the wild vicunas, and also the pre-Incan agricultural terraces. We only saw two condors but it was the wrong time of year as they were apparently nesting, so not the fault of the tour company. Now for the cons. Communication, or the lack thereof. Once the tour company got our down payment they ghosted us; we were trying to find out what hotel they had us scheduled for in Chivay, we were thinking about upgrading it but it took over a month of emailing and phone calls to get a response and by that time it was too late. On the first day they were more than an hour late picking us up, and never called to let us know what was up, leaving us wondering if they were coming at all. On the LONG 5-hour van trip to Chivay they didn't give us much information (historical, cultural, or otherwise) about the areas we were passing through. In Chivay we were basically dropped off at our hotel and abandoned (we were told if we wanted something to do we could walk around the plaza), unless we wanted to go to the hot springs. They did transport us to the hot springs but the entrance fee WAS NOT INCLUDED in the tour, as stated in the TripAdvisor write-up. The hotel in Chivay was more like a hostel, extremely basic and noisy at all hours of the night, we could hear everyone coming and going to/from their rooms. Of the 4 persons in our group one slept well, one slept badly and two didn't sleep at all. No electrical outlet in the bathroom and tub didn't drain. The guide was dropped off early on the way home, and after that the driver blasted obnoxiously loud music and periodically turned off the a/c until we asked for it to be turned back on. Upon arrival back in Arequipa we were all dropped off on a busy street corner in the middle of a not so great area of town with our luggage, instead of being returned to our hotels. All in all, a very long drive (5 hours each way), and a lot of discomfort. My group all agreed that in a very busy Peru trip, this was the one experience we would delete if we were to do it again.Written December 17, 2022
- Bacurtis580 contributionsTerrifying yet satisfying tooWe rode in an SUV with a very experienced driver who terrified me as we crested the top of the sand dunes. - Mark T0 contributionsBus tourist trip to see condors from Arequipa to ChivayCanyon was wonderful Hotel was 3 star, basic but adequate Bus was reasonably comfortable but hot at times and music was loud. Other stops were very touristy and we did feel herded around - and eventually chose to do some of our own things. Highlight was short 30 min trek at canyon - away from the masses.Written October 18, 2022
- Teresa M0 contributionsNot to missGreat tour, the colca valley is very beautiful, highlight of the tour, the flight of the condor. Very good tour operator, Luis Angel, our tour guide, was the best and the driver Julio led us safely to Arequipa through the traffic of the pan American highway!Written September 14, 2022

We had been led to believe that there would be a show at a preset time, with a fountain lit up with coloured lights in constant movement. But in fact, this is a public park with something like 10 different fountains, each with their own shape and colours. You walk around the park to look at all the fountains. Very interesting and beautiful. Took us about 1 hour to walk round. Not really worth the ticket we paid. Entrance is only 4 soles!

So glad we saw this park and fountain show. Even better was to have a guide as it was EXTREMELY crowded!!!! It was just before the Xmas holidays so families were wall to wall.
It was a great show and the fountains are amazing (again our guide from Peruvian World Tours explained the significance) snd festive.
There are pay restrooms.

This attraction is really just for families with younger kids. We didn’t stay long after the seeing the main projection/music fountain show. We watched the show, walked around the whole park pretty quickly, took some pictures and left. We did not do any jumping in the fountains/water streams but were jealous watching the little kids enjoying themselves.

We arrived at the fountain circuit site at 7:30 pm, the line was approximately three blocks long and with a waiting time of more than 2 hours to enter the park, which is why we could not enter the activity. The park closes at 10. P.M for the light show
We contacted the operator about the lack of logistics for entry, and his response was we could come another day at our own expense.
I made the reservation with your platform for seriousness and we found ourselves in this situation, we are tourists from another country and we were thrown into the middle of the activity.
I request a refund of 80% of the minimum

The Water Circuit is a series of about a dozen Elaborate Water fountains that copy the designs of similar displays around the world, (e.g. the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas). The park where the fountains are located is well laid out with paths that guide visitors through the displays. The highlight of the visit is the Laser Light Show that is projected onto the water shooting up from the last and largest fountain. The display here is very impressive. The other fountains were nice but nothing truly special.
While we were picked up at our hotel at the assigned time, because of the instructions the bus driver was given by the tour leader (who did not travel back from the Water park with us, due to another commitment with a guest) we spent almost 90 minutes on the bus getting back to our hotel, despite having passed within a few hundred meters of it on at least 3 separate occasions on the ride home. Not a pleasant experience.

They never showed up! After several attempts to contact the tour company, we never got a response! Tried WhatsApp and the phone number provided was to an inactive line. Attempted to reach out to Viator, who tried to reach them also. Sadly I was told they would have to investigate a refund.

It costs much less to get there by yourself by taking a taxi. Nice show though. You have to get in the center of the fountain soon enough but you can see everywhere. Good atmosphere.
