About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 786mrsjr0 contributionsSacred Valley private tours from OllantaytamboThe Sacred Valley is a huge area and we (party of six) wanted to stay in Ollantaytambo for 2 nights to see the numerous sites and to help us acclimatise prior to our 3n/4d Inca Trail hike. Unfortunately, most tours start from Cusco but after much research we found Yanapumas Peru Travel so we could start from Ollantaytambo. Nilton BEDRIÑANA was our private guide and what a gem he turned out to be. Nilton provided a couple of tour options as a starting point and then adjusted it according to our needs. Nilton was very knowledgeable, attentive and made sure that we did not over exert ourselves. We saw all the major sites, a waterfall and he even took us to his favourite local eateries. He told us so many interesting facts and it was clear that he is passionate about his job, the environment and to help those that are less fortunate.Written December 26, 2022
- WinstonTX0 contributionsSo interesting!Almost skipped this stop and that would have been a huge mistake. Very interesting and even entertaining for our teenage boys. Visually stunning and fascinating learning experience. It would certainly make my short list in the Sacred Valley.Written June 4, 2019
- SuePT0 contributionsTravelling highlightFrom initial contact through Viatour everything was excellent. We were picked up in our hotel in Miraflores at 8am and drove up the hill to see the view of the coast from the large Christ statue. On the way was the shanty town like the Brazilian Favellas. After 1.5 hours along the coast we stopped at a small clay oven bakery for fresh bread. 20 mins later we were in Pucusana, a colourful fishing village. We went in a small fishing boat to an island and watched 2 dolphins on the way. There were sea lions, pelicans, vultures, Boobies both Peruvian and blue footed, neo tropic cormorant, red legged cormorant, inca tern, sunflower star fish. The highlight though was the Humboldt penguin, they came to the egde of the cliff to check us out! At the end, our boat man fed the birds and we got prize winning shots of Pelicans with mouths wide open. Our guide Jorge was fantastic, excellent English and very knowledgeable about everything we saw. Our drive back was faster and we were back in our hotel by 2:30. This was much better than going on the 4 hour trip to Paracas. Booked through this site and Pax on board was the company.Written November 23, 2018
- karmiscott0 contributionsImmersed in local vibe. Great afternoon!,From the first communication, Nilton was prompt and accommodating. Because most of my group was in Lima for work we weren’t sure of their availability. Luckily timing worked out and Nilton was available for us the last afternoon of our visit. He picked us up, on time, at our hotel in Miraflores. Nilton is very personable and during our time together made pleasant conversation explaining the culture today of the local people which we all appreciated. I knew what to expect based on other reviews and I was not disappointed! From other reviews I was a bit concerned about the stability of the small fishing boat because one in our group is a super-sized man. No Problem as the boat was very heavy and wide bottomed. Our captain was skilled and his boat was immaculate and very comfortable. Equally fascinating was the tour of the ocean wildlife complete with penguins and many other birds and then boating through the bay where row after colorful row of fishing boats are moored. Could not have had a better experience. All in our group of 4; ages 22 to 67 raved about the day. Thank you Pax on Board.Written March 25, 2018
- ptgeary0 contributionsfirst rate guideMy experience with Pax on Board during a recent visit to the Sacred Valley was first rate. I was met at Cusco airport and driven to Ollantaytambo. For the next two days i was accompanied to the main sights and given detailed information about them. Plenty of time was spent at each site. I was also taken on a seven hour hike from Ollanta to Pumamarka, an unforgettable experience. All the arrangements were also made for a day visit to Machu Picchu. If you're looking for high quality and friendly service on a visit to the Sacred Valley, I recommend Pax on Board without hesitation.Written March 30, 2017
- Kaushik B0 contributionsDay tours in the sacred valleyWe had spent a few days in the sacred valley and we had a wonderful time with Nilton. He is bilingual, extremely friendly (we're friends on FB now!), knowledgable and patient. Extremely good with kids and is flexible with the tours. We went to Maras, Moray, Pisa, Urubamba and the ruins of Ollantaytambo. We couldn't complete the tour in the same day as planned because we were doing it at our pace with our 5 year old. Nilton was kind enough to extend the tour to the next day and even brought along his year old daughter. We loved the experience and enjoyed every moment. I would highly recommend Nilton !Written March 5, 2017
- William M0 contributionsCooking school in the home of localsOur chef picked us up at our hotel. We went to,the market to shop for ingredients. She knew everyone at this huge local mercado. We spent time shopping, talking and looking at the unbelievable amount of Peruvian food. This is a food lovers country. We then went to the home of her mother where we prepared our lunch. Causa was prepared by hand! It was delicious! Homemade mayo plus other secret ingredients. The recipes are furnished post visit. The name "Causa" is derived from the revolutories fighting for the Peruvian independence over 200 years ago. We had a brief interlude to make Pisco sours. We then made a sea bass cerviche. I should also note a food allegories with one in our party of 4 was recognized and the chef did a work, around. We had so much fun plus we learned how to cook some local specialties. A well spent 4 1/2 hours!Written February 16, 2017
- Chicago-born330 contributionsFun Time In PucusanaThis was a lovely way to spend a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of Lima and see how the locals live. We were picked up at our hotel right on time and escorted to the small fishing village of Pucusana. The vehicle was a very comfortable new van and the driver was cautious and professional. Nilton, our guide, spent the travel time telling us all about the village we'd see as well as interesting and informative details about Lima, it's inhabitants, their lifestyles, and Peru in general. We drove along the coastline and stopped at a couple of view points so my husband could take pictures. Once we arrived we walked down to the dock and boarded a small motor boat and motored out to an island teeming with sea lions, several different types of birds, including the rather hard to find Humboldt penguins. We then walked around the wharf which was crowded with families out enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning. Since we were the only ones on the tour that day, we were able to tailor the visit to our wishes. My husband is a nature photographer and the boatman was very accommodating to my husband's requests to go to certain spots for a better shot at certain birds or to stay longer in one spot. We loved watching the feeding frenzy right alongside our boat as fish chunks were tossed over the side! We both agreed it was not your usual run-of-the-mill shore excursion but a unique opportunity to see life in a small Peruvian village that is not available to most cruise ship passengers booking through the cruise line as the village could not accommodate a large number of people at one time.Written February 10, 2017
- rmwestmore0 contributionsExcellent service. We had a fabulous time on our trip from Lima to Cusco to Olyantantambo, and ultimately to Machu Picchu. Pax on Board arranged for everything, from our transportation to and from the airport, to and from our hotels, and to and from our tours. The transportation was very clean, even as we got in and out of the vans, and the guides were extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. And the cost for this service was very reasonable. We attribute our fabulous experience to the guidance from Pax on Board.Written September 29, 2016
- houam0020 contributionsGood communicaton and very reliableNilton is excellent and very good at helping to arrange tours, customise tours and help people to get the most our of their experience. My tour guide was Diego and his english was excellent. He picked me up from the hotel, conducted my tour and took me back to my hotel. I felt very safe and he was very knowledgeable. My only suggested improvement is that it was a little pricey but overall a good experience and glad that I did it.Written September 14, 2016
