About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- StevenM920 contributionsOverall very good, with room for improvementI visited with my 19 y/o daughter in JAN 2020. If I were to do this again, I would not do the 8-day, but would book my own accommodations, transportation within Lima, Cusco, and Agua Calliente. I would do a 1 day Sacred Valley tour from Cusco. I would uber it to Otallatambo, and take the train to/from Agua Calliente, to visit Machu Picchu. I would book my own bus service from Cusco to Puno. The bus from Cusco to Puno was supposed to have wifi, and a bathroom, but it did not. I would book a 1 day Lake Titicaca tour from Puno. I did not like the hotels in Lima or Cusco, but really did like the hotel in Puno. It was in a great location. We were often waiting on tour transportation that was running late. There were several occasions that I considered getting an uber, rather than risking missing our next train or flight due to transportation running late. On one occasion, the driver was an hour late picking us up, and he was speeding and dangerously passing cars on the wrong side of the road as it was pouring rain through the mountains. I called out that driver and told him that it was unsafe, and directed him to slow down so that we made it to the train station alive, even if we miss our train. When booking, I thought that Machu Picchu and Lima were going to overshadow everything else. However, the experiences at Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Valley, and Cusco were a pleasant surprise. I see myself returning to Cusco and the Sacred Valley rather than Lima. This was an amazing experience, but I believe that it would be even better if the same places were visited, but 1 day "tours" were taken of the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca.Written January 20, 2020
- chabakme0 contributionsExcellent VacationMany thanks to Lenin for such a well organized vacation. HOTELS: the hotels chosen by Lenin, were well located so we could walk around and experience the local scene and food, which is excellent. The hotel staff was very professional, and the breakfast buffets had a good diversity of food. TRAVEL: The tour gave us the opportunity to travel via cab, bus as well as by train. Each of them gave us a unique experience, which we enjoyed thoroughly. DAYS: Be prepared to begin the days begin quite early, since most of the days you will be covering a lot of ground. SITES: You are of course going here for the sites, and those were definitely better that we expected them to be. Many thanks to the agencies that are investing in maintaining these sites so well. ALTITUDE: if you live close to the coast, the altitude will definitely affect you. But nothing like some muna and coca tea to help you feel better. Overall, it was an exceptionally well put together and well coordinated trip. It was a memorable experience for the whole family. Lenin was available on phone and Whatsapp to answer our many questions. While we are not spanish speaking people, we found the Peruvian people exceptional, and we had absolutely no issues communicating with anyone, though, google translate did help a little bit :-)Written January 3, 2020
- Sudhir K0 contributionsFantastic Peru tours, well organized and great value for moneyMade Whatapp contact with Lenin very early on and that helped a lot. Below are Highlights, Pros and Cons of our experience. Tiour Highlights - Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca Pros - All tours were well organized and Lenin explained them as soon as we reached Cusco. Tour guides were on time and took care of the pickup and drop off very well. Tour guides had good knowledge of all the historical, archeological and local places. Value for money. Hotels were all in good location. Tour Manager, Lenin, was always available over phone, in-case of any help. Cons - Hotels were average. No single guide for the entire tour.Written August 25, 2019
- ChustYatri0 contributionsAn amazing tourThis is the second tour that we have booked through Viator and we had an amazing time. We felt that it was well organized, covered much of the country and apart from one situation where the driver was late, we had no issues. Yes, the hotels are 3-star but they are in great locations, often very close to the city center. Lenin was generally accessible and very helpful. On the day we arrived in Aguas Calientes, we wanted to go to Machu Picchu that afternoon in addition to the planned trip the next day. Lenin made all the arrangements so we could pick up our entry tickets right at the entry of Machu Picchu and also sent us PDFs for the bus tickets. We did make one change to the itinerary that turned out to be a very good change. As the tour involves a fair amount of travel by bus, we took a flight from Puno (Juliaca) to Cusco instead of a bus. I would recommend making this change as it is a very long trip by bus. Also, be aware of altitude sickness as it is real. Overall, a once in a lifetime trip as we were celebrating my sister's retirement and Lenin and his team made it very nice for us.Written July 21, 2019
- MickB530 contributionsA wonderful experience marred by poor organization and poor communicationThe first thing you need to understand about this tour is that is actually a package of individual tours in different places, and the service Misterios Peru provides is to organize your transport and transfers from Lima and back in order to take up several of the splendid opportunities that are of offer. Let me start with the positives. The experience of Machu Picchu or Lake Titicaca alone would have made this tour worthwhile, and the many other places we visited were fascinating. By and large the local guides were good, although our Machu Picchu guide did not actually accompany us onto the main site- simply pointing from above. Still, a staggering experience. The hotels were all good average quality. However, my problem was that I was constantly left waiting for a transfer or a meeting with a guide. This started from Cusco airport, where after waiting nearly half an hour and watching the crowd I contacted Lenin. One of the people who had been waiting with a sign (without my name on it!) then sprang into action. Pick ups were regularly more than 20 minutes late. It got to the point when I believe Lenin was actually avoiding my calls or texts. A crazy example was that I was left standing at Aguas Calientes station for 45 minutes before someone eventually arrived - and they walked me the 200 meters to the hotel! The two worst examples were the trip from Cusco to Puno which was on a scheduled tour bus. I had been waiting since 0630 as requested. At 0645 I messaged Lenin with no reply. At about 0658 a taxi driver appeared, drove like a lunatic through town, and I was given my bus ticket only as I boarded the bus that had been held up for me. The very last straw was my departure from Puno to Juliaca. Lenin had indicated that it was a one hour trip to the airport and that a 2 hour check in was recommended. I was asked to be ready at 0600 for pick up. After 0625 there was still no pick up. This time I rang the local contact. Some time after 0630 a van arrived, drove us a few hundred meters and simply stopped. After about 5 minutes a German passenger who spoke Spanish asked the driver why we were waiting and got no real reply. 5 minutes later I did the same, to the same effect. Eventually a young woman who looked to be a friend or colleague arrived. We then took a circuitous route through back streets and stopped for her to do something and then we set off. Tick tick. We made it by the skin of our teeth. I cleared security just as boarding was called. Misterios Peru is a great idea, with wonderful things to offer. My suspicion is that Lenin has been let down by some of his local people, adding unnecessary stress to an otherwise wonderful experience. And please Lenin, don't ignore communications.Written July 3, 2019

Fist off- if you think this trip is a part of a tour group, it is not. If you are not comfortable being on your own most of the time with absolutely no English translators (except on each specific site tour) this is not the trip for you
2nd- if you are the kind of person that likes to know your schedule of where to go at what time and with tickets in-hand well ahead of time (like at least 24 hours before each day), then this trip is not for you
3rd - If you like being at the hands of a 3rd party who's sole job is to book your bus/train tickets and various tours for you- then provide the logistics of time/place/tickets just prior to you doing anything for that day. Or if you like working person-to-person with the tour companies to get money back for failed tours or tour guides that leave without you for no reason. Skip this one
Basically- skip this tour and go to the next one.
My wife and I travel A LOT. We typically have a busy schedule when we travel (ie lots of tours - at least 1 per day- over various countries). This itinerary is too aggressive. We were at the hands of public transportation the whole time (think Greyhound bus for many of the days). The trip from Lima to Nazca was 9 hours! 9!!! Traffic wll get you, construction will get you- oh, and since we didn't know it was going to be 9 hours, we didn't pack anything more than snacks. We left too early for breakfast (snack 1) and didn't have any time for lunch (snack 2). So basically 5:30 AM - 4:30 PM on route to the bus or on the bus. Not at all fun
The most frustrating part of the bus\air travel is that most of the time either the person who was supposed to pick us up showed up late with no signs (they just walked around looking for us and asking if I was John) or they simply didn't show up. We walked to our hotels in Nazca and in Aqua Cliente, we almost scheduled alternative transportation on our flight in to Lima (40 min late) and Puno-to-Cusco (40 min late). Pretty frustrating when no one is available to be your translator to find out what is going on.
I spent about $100 in phone/data plan communicating to this travel company trying to determine what was going on, where people were, refunds on tours that either didn't happen or the tour guide left without us.
The 3-star hotels are 3-star for Peru, not for US/CA. If you are from US or CA or even EU- drop the star rating by 1 star. The hotels were nice overall, but the noise level in all of them was an issue. The service at the one in Cusco was absolutely horrific (the one in Lima was superb- but the sheets were a bit damp due to very high humidity).
Basically, the sites were awesome- you should see them. But for THIS tour group there was far too much bad that far outweighed the good. I don't know what trip the other folks who rated this trip were on, but they were NOT on this one if it is above 3 stars. I invite you to look at my other ratings I have done on Trip Advisor. I rarely, if ever, have a long and ranting bad experience. I hope this tells you something about this specific tour- don't do it.
The one positive thing is that the majority of the time, the tour group would answer your phone or texts. They met with us in Cusco to clear up some confusion (of where there was a ton of it each day).

Hi, I will be in Lima from Dec 3 to Jan 15, and I am Interested in this trip. Is it possible to pick me up at my hotel in Lima and integrate me (single traveler) with one group?
Thanks, Louis-Jean Coupal
