- elizabethrN3887PV0 contributionsHeaven in the AmazonHighly recommend. The pool is fabulous and the lodge is gorgeous. Food was good and the excursions were great. Especially Monkey Island. Not to be missed. Would love to go back.Written September 30, 2024
- prball120 contributionsAmazing 4 days on the AmazonThe four days I spent aboard the Aqua Nero were amazing. The staff is so welcoming and cannot do enough for you. Our guides were so knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was delicious it is served family style but they accommodated me and my husband at every meal with vegetarian dishes without ever having to remind them. Our cabin was spacious and very comfortable. It was a real treat to have our laundry picked up 3 times a day and returned promptly with no charge. The lunch served on the shore of the Amazon was truly something memorable. I can’t say enough how wonderful it wasWritten July 25, 2024
- Roy V0 contributionsGood experience with lots of activities and professional staffThe experience was amazing. It is possible to see a lot of animals, of the amazon river and also the daily activities were really cool to do. I liked how each activity was well organised and also that there are a lot of different things to do. If it was a visit to the indigenous people, climbing through the trees or visiting the monkey island. The guides made sure everything went perfectly and knew a lot about the area. The accomedation itself also was nice, there was a pool for when you are back at the lodge, the lodge itself was really beautifull and clean and the cooks also never dissapointed. I also want to give a special credit to Alex who could tell a lot about the places and also told the coolest stories with things he had experienced in the past.Written July 10, 2024
- V9592MJamyw0 contributionsLodge is great, tours are questionableFirst off, a few pros The tour guide was amazing! The food was some of the best we’ve had the whole time in Peru. 10/10 The pool/rooms were great, lots of work going on when we were there, clean and fun lodge though! The couple that run the lodge are also very nice. The adventure park was a lot bigger then we thought it’d be! The cons, The “native village” is a huge tourism grab. They just have tables set up to sell you things. They are just locates putting on an act… So if your excited about that like we were, be aware your most likely going to be let down. They also take you to an animal park were the animals are kept in questionable situations.Written June 11, 2024
- Rsypniewski0 contributionsAmazing time on the AmazonThe cruise was amazing from every aspect. The crew, food, tour guides, accomodations. We got up close to lots of diverse wild life and every excursion were on smaller boats departing from the main boat which made things carefree and easy. They had all the equipment necessary from rain ponchos, bug spray, boots for jungle hike, etc. the cabins were spacious and well appointed and air conditioned with a big shower. The food was local and outstanding. It was a great way to see the Amazon.Written May 28, 2024
- JoH2920 contributionsA truly Fantastic Experience.I cannot praise the team that looked after us enough. The guides were knowledgeable, funny and made every trip a pleasure. The food was really excellent - I don't know how the chef managed to produce such wonderful meals in the middle of the Amazon. Luis, the bartender made the best Dark and Stormy cocktail that I have ever tasted. Every single member of the team made it their mission to enable you to enjoy every moment. We saw plentiful animals and and birds during our trips. We fished for pirhanas, kayaked and one of the best trips was to a village on the river bank. Yes, it is a rainforest - and it does rain!! But we enjoyed every moment of our time on the 'Aria'.Written May 23, 2024
- Discover586900071810 contributionsJust do itThis is a must do bucket list trip. The team are exceptional and nothing is too difficult. The day trips are simply unexplainably breathtaking with guides who are so passionate about their special place. love itWritten April 29, 2024

- 114jackm0 contributionsHow did I Enjoy Thee, Let Me Count The WaysIf I could, I would give more than 5 Stars. The staff, Beginning with Captain Richard, the food prepared by Chef Juan Diego (as close to being Michelin starred as possible), and the clean & roomy accommodation were above and beyond expectation. The highlight, from a staff standpoint were the guides George (of the jungle), Billy and Juan Luis and the cruise director, Galilea. Of course the dining room staff were all excellent - particularly Freddy, Luis & Maxima. The primary highlight was the opportunity to spend 7 days exploring and experiencing the Amazon River, in Peru. But to do it while receiving above & beyond service, was icing on the cake. We did spend 7 days on the ship while most others did the 4 day trip. Because of the staff and service, we did not regret the extra days. Just a few of the service highlights/ things of note: - Cold towels given out while on the skiff during very hot and humid weather. - Skiffs were very sturdy and comfortable. - Following hikes into the jungle our shoes were left behind to be cleaned. - One of the many highlights of the trip was the opportunity to visit a number of villages. Suggest you go to Costco and buy a lot of candy to share with the children during these visits. - A nice touch is we had our personal laundry cleaned everyday. Following each daily excursion, sweaty and dirty clothes were placed in a basket, picked up during turn down service each evening, and returned the next AM. - Finally, at the end of each cruise, the very talented guides, restaurant , etc.,staff put on a farewell show. Not to be missed. The only suggestion I would offer is to lighten the portions at lunch. We were forced to have a nap following each lunch. 🥴Written April 20, 2024
- estherkN1755UB0 contributionsAqua Expeditions: the company needs to train their office employees much betterEven though the experience in the boat was wonderful, the entire reservation process was a disaster. Calls/emails not returned, wrong information and questions answered incorrectly. We came very close to not going because of the “front end.” We did go and had a great time. That being said, rooms are very small, limited space for storage and my room was extremely noisy.Written April 11, 2024
- God_6990 contributionsUnforgettable and incredibleAbsolutely incredible! Me and my partner are travelling through Peru and the Caribbean for my 30th and decided to book this tour (it is still available to book online). Hands down, this was the most amazing experience of my life! On the first day, we were picked up from our accommodation and visited the Yagua indigenous tribe, the Fundo Pedrito animal sanctuary and went out for a jungle excursion. At the tribe's village you take small presents for the children of the tribe (sweets and colouring pencils purchased from Iquitos port), which they were very excited about. We bought a couple bracelets made from Anaconda teeth and local berries/ seeds as a little memento, got to try our hands at some target practice with a traditional dart blow gun, and took part in a small ceremony. At the animal reserve we saw Macaw's, Caiman (which we got to feed), Anaconda (which we got to go inside the enclosure with), and giant Paiche (huge fresh water fish which we also fed and got to touch). Then, once at the Avatar Lodge, we went out for a jungle excursion where we learned all about the Flora and Fauna of the jungle, including very useful survival tactics such as how to use termites to keep mosquitoes away (very useful and effective!). Day 2 we went out looking for pink and grey river dolphin (beautiful, majestic creatures!), fished for Pirhana (however only one small one was actually caught on this occasion so it was put back), and then got to swim in the amazon river - which was a bucket list item for me. We went out for another jungle excursion looking for finger monkeys (which we found after only a short while), and then lazed around in the pool to cool off before going for a night time jungle excursion and saw Tarantula and many other large Spiders, loads of lizards, frogs, and other critters - the jungle comes to life at night!! Day 3 we went out for a sunrise boat trip to see the dolphin once more (early morning is a much better time to see them as they are hunting for fish), and then went to a monkey sanctuary; prior to the trip I was not overly fussed about seeing the monkeys but it was such an interactive experience as they climb all over you and you feed them, and it was just great, I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. Finally, we did the Mirador zipline and jungle swing experience (which is like GoApe on steroids), and then finally, we chilled in the pool once more to calm our nerves before, sadly, leaving to return to Iquitos. I have to take the time to give a HUGE shout out to Alex, our tour guide, who was one of the most wonderful people we have ever met. His knowledge and expertise were priceless and seemingly endless; he is such a kind and interesting individual and made our trip truly unforgettable. He has some mind blowing stories and goes out of his way to make sure your trip is an unforgettable one. I also have to shout out the chef's while we stayed at Avatar Lodge, as the food they cooked us fresh each day, most of which was from local plants/ tree's, was delicious and far exceeded our expectations. Also, there is a cute dog who lives at the lodge and another couple more that live in the jungle, all of each are so lovely and friendly! 1000/10 would recommend to anyone with a passion for nature and adventure. I would absolutely love to return here as often as I can!Written April 3, 2024
- Hannahrobin9950 contributionsAlex went above and beyondThis was the most incredible experience! Alex, our tour guide, knew everything about The Amazon and more! He ensured we were safe but still allowed us to get up close and person with what the jungle had to offer. His passion for the aminals and creatures was very inspiring, he made the trip for me, genuinely amazing guy, with some great stories to tell. The accodation fed us very well, big portions, we didn't need to use our snacks, the food was amazing! The rooms were cosy, the swimming pool was right outside our room and was very much needed, and kept clean. The activities were great, we went to the aminal sanctuary, met the indigenous tribe, went swimming in the Amazon river, went pirhana finishing, saw dolphin's, went on a night walk, watched the sunrise and saw the river dolphin's. I will remember this trip for the rest of my life. To see the lack of reviews is shocking! If you're thinking about going here, do it!!Written April 3, 2024
- 818alliep0 contributionsWOW!I absolutely cannot recommend the Aqua Nera enough! Our experience was a 10/10 all around from the excursions, to the dining, to the staff. Jordano was one of the best bartenders I have ever seen (and I’m from Nashville)! His knowledge and friendliness helped make our trip unforgettable. Maximo was an incredible server who shared so much of his knowledge of the Amazon with us! We were so grateful for everything he taught us. Neycer often led our excursions, and he did a fantastic job! He could spot animals that we couldn’t see even after a few minutes of searching with him pointing directly at them!Written March 15, 2024
- LesleyYang0 contributionsGreat experience with a couple notes in the reviewThe service is 5 stars with very attentive and one to one ratio of crew to guest. The food is the highlight with special attention to Peruvian and local ingredients. When the weather is good the excursion is also a lot of fun! We did the four days cruise they also offer longer ones. We had a great time and would recommend to others. However, because the experience is not exactly cheap you should be aware: - when the weather is not good meaning raining and it rains fairly frequent as you can imagine, the animals are NOT out and you do not have much to do onboard (the boat is not equipped with any entertainment) - it does not have like professor or other distinguished naturalists onboard. The guides are mainly local and offers great guidance to casual observers (us). However, if you are some avid animal enthusiasts I suspect you may find it a bit superficial - the rooms and indoor areas are perfectly comfortable but you will smell something in any area not fully enclosed or air conditioned (enter the doorway). There are some wears and tears of the boat but nothing to be concerned of - there will be bugs onboard so just be prepared. Kinda a package of the place - there is a 10% suggested gratitude (give or take) of your booking value so just be preparedWritten January 20, 2024
- jasonrP8088HT0 contributionsAn non-bank-breaker way to see the Amazon riverAfter a 4:25 am flight from Lima and then a five hour wait at the Hilton Garden Hotel, we boarded a bus for a 2.5 hour ride to Iquitos where we boarded the boat. Staff was very pleasant. Food was average. Ordering wine with your meal involved someone having to running upstairs. Cabins were small and very basic but comfortable. It was a bit visually jarring when you turn into the hallway of rooms and see what for me are white aluminum, exterior door. The trip involved a number of daily excursions on skiffs which at first felt like a bit of a scam but then the monkeys, sloths, snakes, dolphins and piranha made a number of appearance. The guides were very knowledgeable…and chartty. If they had read the room, they have seen a punch of sweating, exhausted people swatting flies away but just the moment “let’s turn around and watch more pink dolphins.” The despair was palpable. .Written January 4, 2024

We did the 5-day on Delfin 2 with another couple and had a blast. We took the cabins in the front of the ship, which have more room and windows, and found them to be really comfortable. There were great excursions, usually 3 each day, one very early, one mid-morning and another late afternoon. The guides were amazing, food was excellent, drinks were plentiful! Just a great experience.

I have never in my life received the level of personal service that my bride and I received aboard the utterly beautiful Delfin II.
The three, three course meals a day were “one better than the last”.
Using only the freshest fish, and fruit, and vegetables, grown and caught in and around the River valley near Nauta, the Master Chef and his team turn out one masterpiece after another!
Conversation is relaxed and convivial in the dining room, as you can’t help but keep one eye out for dolphins breaching nearby!
The guides/naturalists, Sandro, and Jorge, & Javier infuse every outing with their own sense of wonder and excitement!
They have walked these paths all their lives, and obviously love nothing more than sharing their knowledge, and their reverence for Amazonia.
They were the perfect guides to open our rookie eyes!
The housekeeping team seemingly worked around the clock!
Every single time we returned from an excursion our room was put together in a perfectly unique way.
Mario consistently created a beautiful Pisco Sour, and went well out of his way to make sure that my favorite beer, the Malta, was always chilled and available, while the team leader, Christian, facilitates a seamless experience, from bow to stern.
We’d never signed on for a cruise before, but the beauty of the ship, and the country, the small number of passengers, and the quick, professional, personal, and empathetic service we received by way of the internet won us over.
Without a doubt it was on the very short list of magical times we’ve spent together in our 44 years of marriage.

We went in de Delfin III. It was so luxurious. The crew was phenomenal and super helpful. The food was incredibly well prepared with things you would find in the rainforest. We saw the most spectacular sunset and did a nice toast in the middle of the the place where the amazons is born.
We e were blessed with good weather so went kayaking, bird watching, swimming. We even had breakfast in the little boats while overlooking at monkeys and dolphins. It rained a bit but they always have ponchos in the boats. They also provided boots four the walks in the forest. The night trip in the dark waters to search for caimans was spooky. The piranhas were a wow! The bar is open all day and the included alcoholic drinks are beer and pisco sour. Wine is extra nut is good priced. Joseph made the best origami towels I’ve seen, Rudy was our guide and he was great! Hey we even watch a soccer game between crew and kitchen in some land they found. It was great. We did a lit and I highly recommend!

We had an incredible experience on the Amazon with the Delfin 1 crew. The riverboat itself is exquisitely furnished and luxuriously comfortable - and the food is delicious! The excursions from the boat were well-planned and interesting. We got to experience the Amazon in many ways - jungle walks where we saw a sloth, anaconda and tarantula, river skiffs where we saw lots of bird life and monkeys, swimming and kayaking in the Amazon and visiting local communities. Our guide (Denis) was highly knowledgeable, warm and always flexible in accommodating everyone’s needs. This was a special trip which we will remember forever.

The DelfinI is a small luxury river boat with 4 large rooms all with balconies. Each of the two rooms on the lower deck have private plunge pools. Along with a crew of 14, this is the epitome of luxury Amazon River cruising. The crew, including our full time guide Eric, provided an amazing five star “bucket list “ cruise. From the moment we landed in Iquitos Eric was with us every step of the way. He is a local born native who knows the river, it’s flora and fauna, and people inside and out. Days were spent exploring smaller tributaries aboard swift flat bottom skiffs. Wildlife viewing included dozens of varieties of birds, monkeys, three toed sloths, iguanas, caimans, anaconda snakes and the spectacular pink river dolphin. All pointed out by Eric from the safety of the skiff, or during guided walks on shore. The food aboard Delfin I was excellent. All meals are served in an air conditioned dining room by a well trained and attentive staff. Rooms are approximately 350 square feet, very spacious, about the size of a hotel room, and very well appointed. The bar and lounge area on the top deck is beautiful and quite comfortable. Our room on the lower deck had a small privat plunge pool perfect for cooling off. I could not recommend this trip highly enough. It is part of the exclusive Chateaux and Relais chain.
