About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- emmalU7113SA0 contributionsQuick Trip to Machu PicchuThis experience could’ve been so stressful, but Tierras Vivas took really great care of my friend and I. In concern that we’d miss our returning flight due to landslides, they helped us get tickets for an earlier entry into Machu Picchu. We were so grateful because the weather was beautiful in the morning and the views were more than we could’ve ever asked for. Sam, our tour guide, was friendly, gave great advice, was super knowledgeable about the history, and a wonderful picture taker! 😊 The travel to Machu Picchu can be very exhausting and stressful. Tierras Vivas did their best to make the process seamless and got us where we needed to go.Written March 21, 2025
- darat2350 contributionsAmazing tripThe views were amazing, my guide Samuel met with me the night before Machu Picchu and explained how everything will work very well. He did a great job.Written February 16, 2025

He is extremely knowledgeable and gave us a very pleasant and lovely experience with gems and insights we would have not been able to figure out by ourselves. Sam is very friendly and you can count on having someone take care that you experience the best wonder of Peru and immerse yourself in its culture and historical significance.Written February 15, 2025
- Carson D0 contributionsSamuel is the best tour guide! The company is well organized in getting you from Cusco to Machu Picchu which is much appreciated and my tour guide for Machu Picchu, Samuel, was awesome. He knew all the history and we got lucky on our tour with the llamas walking right up to us! 10/10 highly recommend.Written February 13, 2025
- 25tikap0 contributionsAmazing day tour made possible by our guide, Samuel.I took the Inca Trail Machu Day Tour with my girlfriend and the trip was very memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and it was made possible by our guide, Samuel. This review is a recommendation of Samuel who we were assigned through the tour company Tierras Vivas. He was extremely clear on pickup timings, very knowledgeable about the Lost City of the Incas and always made sure we took adequate breaks in the middle to roam around take pictures, in fact he took very professional pictures of us too! Visiting this great wonder of the world is a lifetime experience, and it makes its ever so important to choose the way you experience it, I am glad that we had Samuel for this journey.Written February 11, 2025

- 882ilarik0 contributionsInca trail 4-daysOverall the trip was great, views were amazing and the professonalism of the guide Yijo, chef Clemente and the porters were truly impressive. Hike was semi-demanding with changing weathers but with good and nutritious meals and interesting stories and facts along the way, it felt easy and very enjoyable the whole time. Crew really took care of us and all of our questions were answered right away. Would highly recommend!Written November 17, 2024
- rafaelag8440 contributionsOutstanding guide ensured a great experience for everyoneReally well organized, the guide César Pérez was outstanding, rapidly got the measure of the capabilities of each member of the group and managed the walk plan accordingly. Great team of porters and amazing chef - the meals were fantastic. Tents roomy and comfortable. Also super just to be in a small group of only our family, less pressure, more fun, all in all a wonderful experience of a magical trek!!!Written November 8, 2024
- maneeshat20160 contributionsExperience of a lifetimeI had the experience of a lifetime doing the 4 day Inca Trail trek with Inca Trail Machu. Niko was an incredible guide who took great care of us, he was very encouraging, easy going, and deeply knowledgeable about Inca history and the Andean environment which added a lot to the experience. I felt very safe with Niko and he made sure we always knew what we were doing. We were a small group of 2, which was nice as we could go at our own pace & ask lots of questions. The team truly went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable, a luxury camping experience in the Andes! Roberto and his team of porters always had our tents set up beautifully, and even provided hot water for washing and water for drinking. All necessary camping equipment was included and of high quality. I wasn't cold at all! They also carried our personal items so we only needed to carry a small backpack. The food was fantastic and plentiful (I had vegetarian menu at no extra cost). I loved our daily "happy hour" hot chocolate, tea & snacks, and the desserts as a special treat! We also had daily snacks provided including fresh fruit. I also appreciate that Inca Trail Machu takes ethical and sustainable tourism seriously, treating its workers well and reinvesting in the community through different projects. Highly recommend!Written November 3, 2024
- J9925TBmarisaa0 contributions4 day Inca Trail TrekOur excellent guide Cesar led us through a beautiful 4 day trek of the Inca trail. He was knowledgeable, friendly and managed our journey very well through all the challenges thrown at us. The team of cook and porters who accompanied us provided delicious, plentiful food and refreshments and we felt well looked after. All in all we had a wonderful few days and an unforgettable experience!Written November 1, 2024
- Jeremy A0 contributionsA great way to ease into Machu Pichu. We had a great trek - tough at times, but stunning scenery and great leadership from Cesar, supported by Leo the chef (loads of great food) and the gang of porters. Friendly atmosphere and well planned and organised. Even when torrential rain caused us to have to make a change of plans.Written November 1, 2024
- Mozzza140 contributionsFlawless once in a lifetime experience with the most incredible staff.I booked this tour solo and that always comes with its own worries right from the start they went out of their way to answer all of my questions efficiently and clearly (and i had a lot of questions). The booking process could not have been made easier. The tour was incredibly well organised from the initial briefing everything was explained with incredible detail making it extremely easy from a customer point of view. This was a genuine no stone left unturned level of detail in the organisation. The staff are really what makes this company the one you have to book with. I was blessed to be guided by Carlos Tisock who is the best guide i have ever had and i have done many similar expeditions all over the world. His level of knowledge and passion for the Inca civilisation was incredible i read a lot prior to this tour about the civilisation and quickly realised i was being guided by an absolute expert in his field constantly providing incredible details about what you are looking at and the wider context. Carlos was also extremely respectful and appreciative of the team of cooks and porters who make this trek possible which was amazing to see. The team of chefs and porters where absolutely outstanding i am still shocked how the chefs create such incredible varied and immaculate tasting food with such basic equipment it was also very noticeable the level of detail they pay to the hygiene and cleanliness in how they work this might seem like a given but when you're on a trek like this that can be difficult and their main priority was the health and wellbeing of the people in their care. The porters where some of the most kind and humble people i have ever met given the tough job they carry out it is incredible how attentive they are to you’re every need they made the trip an absolute joy with a smile on their faces throughout you really feel like you are being cared for by family with these people. I noticed constantly how we seemed to have the funnest and happiest team throughout bumping into and camping near other groups and the respect shown to the staff by this company really does standout. Book the Inca Trail with this company and you will not regret it. It’s the authentic Inca Trail experience with world class service using local and indigenous staff who truly care about what they are doing and the trek they are taking you on. Thank you all for the greatest 4 days.Written September 24, 2024
- garryt7910 contributionsGeezer trekThis trip has been on our bucket list for a very long time! We finally got around to it in our 60’s. We tried to get in shape for the rigors of high altitude and hiking long steep distances mostly climbing or going down seemingly like thousands of Inca made rock steps. We mostly succeeded in that endeavor, but it was still a rigorous trek. Pinyo , our guide on this trek, also known as Pepe or Thiago, was a great guide! He kept us together while hiking, but waited for us when it was steep and slow going. He explained to us about the trail, the Inca legends and history of the area. Clemente, our cook for our trip, was a fantastic cook! The soup before the main meals was fantastic and soothing after a long arduous hiking day. Then came the main meal with at least 5 different courses. Muy fantastic and delicious meals. He even catered to mine and my friend on the trip by making some hot salsa for us. Overall the trip was strenuous but very satisfying in large part to the staff. The porters were also fantastic and very polite and accommodating to all of us. One of the porters Anniicito, even backtracked on the trail to see if I needed help with my pack when I was feeling a little lousy. I was very impressed with all that they did for us, not to mention the really heavy packs they carried every day.Written September 11, 2024
- rickkY7885BI0 contributionsIt took me 71 years to get here- glad I didAmazing trip. Really enjoyed the trek. The Andes Mountains are a sight to behold. Steep canyons and high jagged peaks. Our guide was Pliñio and took care to see that we had what we needed. I thought that maybe I would lose a few pounds on this trip since there is a lot of physical activity but our cook, Clemente always served up copious amounts of delicious Peruvian food.Written September 11, 2024
- joanie4c0 contributionsOld ChampionsWe were 2 couples, the youngest being 60,who finally got around to this adventure. Our guide Pepe(Pinyo) looked after us and made sure we were comfortable and capable. He was very informative about the trail, its history and related history. Our cook, Clemente, prepared delicious meals. We always had soup followed by five items filled with plenty of fresh veggies. The food was always delicious and more than we could eat.Written September 11, 2024

2-day IncaTrail was an unforgettable experience and our guide Nico was very professional. Our whole family, kids 9 and 12 years, enjoyed the trek along the mountain trails and the tour around Macchu Picchu citadel. Nico came with us also on the second day to climb the Macchu Picchu mountain which is a good option for kids this age.
He gave good information beforehand and he also gave attention to the kids. Definately can recommend Nico and the company Inca Trail Machu.

I’ve just returned from my first 2 week solo trip to Peru which was absolutely fabulous. The main highlight, of course, was visiting Machu Picchu which was the only part of the trip I had booked several months in advance to be certain of obtaining tickets on the days I desired. I chose to do a 2 night/3 day trip as I was not certain I would be fit enough to hike for 5 days and at the same time was not keen to sleep 4 nights in a tent! I was pleased with my choice and did not feel at all short changed. The tour was amazing, day one seeing numerous Inca sites in the Sacred Valley whetted my appetite for what was to come. The first night was spent in Ollantaytambo at a very nice, if rather basic, hotel where the staff were uber friendly, ideally located for the train station. I enjoyed a delicious dinner in the hotel owned restaurant next door and the following morning was given a bag full of goodies to keep me well fed during my trek. I took the first Machu Picchu train to KM104 where I was met by my guide, Sam Flores. From the minute I met Sam, any concerns I had soon dissipated. I knew I was in good hands from the moment he took my walking poles and adjusted the height for me (I was such a novice!).
The trek up to the Sun Gate took approximately 6 hours with countless photo stops and opportunities to catch my breath and after climbing the final staircase, the vista of Machu Picchu opened out in front of me and I was completely overwhelmed! We then hiked down to Machu Picchu and and took the bus down to Aguas Calientes where I checked into my hotel and after freshening up Sam returned to take me to a restaurant around the corner for a scrummy Pizza and was surprised and delighted that he was able to join me.
The following morning, Sam was very punctual, arriving bright and early to accompany me back up to Machu Picchu (a short bus ride) and spent a very pleasant and informative few hours touring around the site.
A huge thank you to both Judith for organising the trip for me and Sam for being such a wonderful, interesting and passionate guide who now feels like a trusted friend!

I spent 4 days with Inca Trail Machu on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and it was incredible! Our tour guide Herbert was amazing and really made the trip special. He was incredibly informative, entertaining and insightful. The chef Mario, along with the porters, helped to create an amazing experience through their friendliness and good cooking! The value for money was very good as it included everything on the tour and also felt like a sustainable and unique option. Overall I would thoroughly recommend the experience!

In the mid of November 2023 I did some research about Peru and onlined to request an information about Huayna Picchu Mountain, Machu Picchu mountain, Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain and Cusco city. Judith Zapata, the Reservations and Sales Agent from Inca Trail Machu emailed me on November 30,2023 regarding ticket of Huayna Machu mountain. After I received the information I requested a package of Machu Picchu mountain and Rainbow mountain from Inca Trail Machu. They quickly responded me and emailed me for review. During this planning period I had changed the schedule due to my personal health issues. End of the December 2023 we made a decision plan. Prior to our arrival Judith chatted me via WhatsApp on 3/6 regarding the whole schedule.
When We arrived Cusco airport the representatives of Inca trail Machu had already waited for us by the arrival area and drove us to the hotel. Maria delivered the package personally and explained the details of the package.
During these days we are extremely satisfied their services.

Samuel was beyond amazing, I really got lucky that he was my guide. He had great communication with me since I actually did the Sacred Valley of the Incas and was in Ollantaytambo and not Cusco to be there for the in person meeting.
Ill give a break down of the day.
We went on July 13th and the temps where in the 60's. You will need a light jacket for the first 20/30 min of the hike. I wore shorts and a dry fit shirt and was fine the whole trip for shoes I wore vivobare foot walking shoes and didn't have a single issues. People in my group had boots and did just as fine. thats a preference thing for sure.
Have sunblock for the right side of your face and neck.
You will need a pretty sturdy day back for the one night in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). With or with out a water bladder I drank about 2 liters of water.
Bring a bag for your trash and some snacks.
So to the good stuff. Samuel was so incredibly knowledgeable; I learned so many incredible facts. He knew when to take breaks and show us flowers, birds and other interesting facts about the trail. He knew all the best places to take photos and how to pose you!
He gave us plenty of time to sit and enjoy the views espically at the sun gate.

This shorter trip through the Inca trail on the first day and the visit of Machu Picchu on the next is the perfect combination. You get to xperience the terrain and the incredible nature of where the Incas lived and to see the Machu Picchu ruins from both sides, upon arriving from the Inca trail on the afternoon of the first day and from the main entrance on the morning of the next. There are other memorable ruins along the Inca trail, especially the astonishing Winaywayna. Our guide, Ana Maria, is very knowledgeable not only about the history of the area but also about its fauna and flora. During the Inca trail hike, she would stop to show us all the different types of orchids and other local plants. We are grateful to Ana Maria for sharing her world with us.

Our guide Samuel was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the history of his ancestors and how they built the trials, Machu Picchu and the neighboring areas that supported the empire. It was a real treat to experience the hike with a descendent of the Inkas and to trek through the mountains with Samuel explaining what we were seeing along the way. Highly recommend him to be your guide.
