About
Depart after breakfast at the hotel, heading along the Sacred Valley towards the archaeological site of Moray, approximately an hour and a half away. As with many Inca ruins, its exact function remains a mystery though the design of ever-wider concentric circular terraces meant each level had a different microclimate. Continue to Maras, where the salt ponds create a dazzling scene. The thousands of small ponds give work to and help feed many local families. During Inca times, the salt deposits were an important economic centre and of great value to the imperial economy. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel.

- mollyh6850 contributionsA definite one for places to eat in cuscoCalled in without a reservation when we were in cusco after a busy day sightseeing and were looked after straight away . The restaurant is situated on the main square a perfect location. Restaurant was spotlessly clean great ambience and decor and the food and attention to detail was 100% but what made our visit so memorable was the wonderful care by our waiter Jesus who was not only polite curtous and friendly but full of advise and recommendations on what to have. Top marks to inca grill a definite one for the list of places to eat in cusco.Written March 11, 2025
- Ken_LAF0 contributionsCusco Tour and Day in Machu Picchu with Excellent GuideWe toured Cusco and Machu Picchu on an excursion organized by Holland America Line - locally executed by LimaTours. Our guide throughout our visit was Oscar - who was just excellent. He was knowledgeable, personable and spoke fluent English. His university studies and experiences growing up made him both interesting and authoritative. His genuine interest in the Inca culture and obvious love for Peru shone through in every story he shared, making the experience not just informative but deeply engaging and memorable. Touring Cusco was like stepping into a living museum, where ancient Inca ruins blend seamlessly with colonial architecture, vibrant markets, and a rich cultural heritage set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Andes. We did feel the altitude, so be sure to allow time to adjust. We only had a short time to visit - this city is worth more time to explore and enjoy. Touring Machu Picchu was an awe-inspiring journey to a mystical mountaintop city, where ancient Inca ingenuity and stunning natural beauty converge in one of the world’s most iconic archaeological wonders. It really lives up to the hype as one of the wonders of the world. To get the most our of either of these beautiful sites, I recommend engaging a knowledgeable, local, reputable company and guide. For us this was Oscar with LimaTours.Written January 19, 2025
- Curious7687680 contributionsCuscoIt was an interesting trip where we learnt about the Inca culture. Unfortunately, my wife felt the effect of the high altitude to enjoy it more. I would have preferred less standing and listening to the tour guide. I know he liked to share with us as much as possible, however there were so many beautiful views which we missed by standing around. I would have preferred to be given time and place where we would meet and do some exploration of my own.Written November 11, 2024

- E2256PWmh0 contributionsPachamama is everythingDespite booking the Cusco city tour? We weren’t quite sure what we’d see. We had a great guide. We saw mostly Inka sites and saw the impact on these by the Spanish occupation. We had time to enjoy the sites and understand what they were all for - wonderful.Written August 16, 2024
- BruceD6620 contributionsHenry Luis Renteria Tour Guide Extraordinaire!Through Lima Tours were we had Henry Luis Renteria, who was absolutely the BEST guide. Not only was his knowledge of Cusco and Inca history limitless, he brought a true passion to his subject. He also somehow was able to make last changes in our schedule involving Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, Rainbow Mountain and train schedule, that were above and beyond the call of duty, or the capability of ordinary tour guides! He helped carry my pack up Huayna Picchu and made arrangements with another excellent guide for us named Saul for Rainbow Mountain. This guy made our trip over the top exceptional!Written August 7, 2024
- guillermoc5100 contributionsBest vacation. This has been the best planed vacation that I have ever experienced with a travel agency. I purchased this package with Hectours from Puerto Rico and they coordinated with Lima Tours in Peru. The level of professionalism since the moment that I booked this trip, the drivers that picked us up, the guides, the WhatsApp constant follow up and attention. Everything was excellent. The hotels and the places that we visited were awesome. Even when our plane and train got delayed the drivers were constantly connecting with us and letting us know not to worry that someone would be there waiting for us was a lot of comfort. Great job! My only comment is that this was a very busy and tight schedule which requires at least a day of rest every three days and should be recommended by the travel agent. Nevertheless this vacation was great.Written June 28, 2024
- Cathy3820 contributionsA good insight into Cusco and the Surrounding area. The trip was varied as it visited local archaeological sites as well as buildings within Cusco itself. The guide was informative and took time to explain the history and local customs. The driver was very polite. We also visited a local craft centre and were able to feed Llamas and Alpacas - it was nice to see these roaming around the grounds rather that enclosed in pens.Written June 1, 2024

- Andy F0 contributionsGreat way to see the key sites of CuscoExcellent tour. Our guide Freddy was excellent. He told us enough about the sites we visited without so much detail that we were overwhelmed with information. The Inca sites are a must whilst in Cusco. The cathedral doesn’t look much from the outside but is a big wow inside. Great tripWritten October 14, 2023
- nuriatc20230 contributionsNot the right guide. The guide didn't try to make it interesting. He was boring, slow, and didn't organize the timetable properly. We missed almost all the places worthwhile seeing in Cusco city center. He was more eager to take us to a shopping center not planned in the visit than to explain the nice buildings in Cusco to us. Very disappointing.Written July 19, 2023
- IsabelF3120 contributionsInteresting but Too LongIt was a very long tour. It took over 5 hours to visit all the sites. Our guide was knowledgeable but clueless about the lack of interest of our group on his detailed explanations at the cathedral which was our last stop. He also was kind of repetitive in our previous stops. For me this tour would have been much better if the cathedral would not have been included and just cover the Inka fortifications and temples. The temples themselves were amazing to visit. Really great viewsWritten June 12, 2023
- atisb0 contributionsSurreal experience near ollantaytamboWe came here after a visit to the archeological site at Ollantaytambo. It was fixed by our tour company. We had nice lunch with excellent folk music. We didn’t expect it would be so nice experience. The musicians were delivering the authentic music from the high valley and possibly Inka culture. Overall it was a nice experience at Ollantaytambo.Written February 22, 2023
