Excellent outfit with great attention to details. Our guide Richard was very very good. Extremely knowledgeable and spoke multiple languages. A musician by training and an excellent guide. Was able to change and adjust on the fly to give us a trip of a lifetime. He was about to change the trip because of a national strike at the last minute to make sure we got to do all the things we wanted to do and more. He was also able to extend our already excellent trip to Macchu Picchu so we could also get an intimate look on the ground level as well.

As we arrived at Cusco airport, we were greeted with warmth by Doris (tour coordinator) and her driver from SunGate Travel Agency. After we checked into Sonesta hotel, Doris spent some time with us explaining the itinerary for Cusco and Machu Picchu. She put in a lot of effort to advise us as what to bring during the trip, places that we would be visiting, and on how to overcome high altitude sickness. On our second day of our tour, we checked out from Sonesta (after the delicious buffet breakfast), Doris met us at the lobby and briefed us on the day tour to Sacred Valley (Pisac & Ollantaytambo). She highlighted the itinerary. And she was with us till the bus tour arrived. As the tour ended at Ollantaytambo, we boarded the train and arrived at Agus Caliente and stayed at a hotel for a nite. The next morning, her colleague Richard, met us at the hotel. Richard was really helpful. Before we started our journey to Machu Picchu, he explained to us the itinerary. Once we arrived at the main entrance, we lighten our bag pack by keeping some items at the locker room. Richard arranged for us and helped us in getting the locker. Richard brought us around and explained to us the history of Machu Picchu in details while we walking and resting. We enjoyed every moment of it. Before we left the main entrance, Richard helped us to collect our items from the locker. At the end of the visit to Machu Picchu, Richard took us to a place to have lunch. The buffet spread was fantastic. Just before we entered the restaurant, he explained to us on how to board the train from Augustine Caliente to Cusco. After lunch, we headed to the train station and boarded the train. The train journey ride was beautiful and scenic. Once we arrived at nite at Cusco, Doris and her driver fetched us from the train station to our hotel. She helped us with hotel check in and spent some time with us again to explain the itinerary for city sightseeing on Cusco the next day. Richard met us at our hotel after we checked out. He took us around Cusco city. He explained in details on each site we visited. One of the place that Richard took us is Cusco market where we had fantastic fruit juices. Richard then walked us back to our hotel. We had an early dinner at the hotel before heading to the airport. After dinner, Doris and her driver came to the hotel and fetched us to the airport. We highly recommend SunGate tours as their planned itinerary is well organised and went well. Furthermore, they were flexible to accommodate our request to swap our Cusco market tours to the last day. The reason we made the request was to acclimatised the high altitude. We were glad to have Doris as our tour coordinator as our journey went smoothly. She maintained good communication with us throughout our tour thru WhatsApp. We are truly impressed with Doris, Richard and their drivers as they were very helpful, and efficient.

We had the most amazing holiday, organised by Sungate Tours in July. I had spent some time looking for tour operators after we'd decided to go to Peru, and Sungate had fabulous reviews, so I contacted them. Fernando put together a 15 day itinerary including everything that I said I wanted to do. We tweaked this a little to accommodate times of internal flights, and he was very helpful with these changes. After all the planning, we finally landed in Peru with a little trepidation, having never travelled to South America before. But our worries were soon put to rest by the fabulous Abrahim, with his jokes and smiles, waiting at the airport. He very kindly helped my husband and son sort out SIM cards after taking us to the Lima hotel, telling us all about Lima on the way. After settling into our Lima hotel, we were taken on a tour round Lima, followed the next day by a fabulous cooking class (after we'd visited a local market to see all the fruit, veg, fish and meat that we'd be cooking with). This class was so much fun, and we were very proud of the meal we created! We were then collected by Abrahim again, to be taken to the airport, where he helped up check in our luggage and took us as far as he could through the airport. We arrived Iquitos and were taken to a great hotel for the night, astounded by the crazy Tuk-tuk drivers everywhere! The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, we were then met by Manuel of the Heliconia Lodge. The trip along the Amazon, stopping at Monkey Island, was really fun, and then we arrived at the amazing lodge for 4 days of chilling, eating great food and being taken on various outings - sunset boat tour to watch pink dolphins, evening trips into the rainforest to look for wildlife and plants, fishing for piranhas, a visit to a local sugar cane distillery, and many more. Manuel was so smiley and jolly, and was a font of knowledge about all things jungle. My teens got to know some Americans also staying at the Lodge, and we all had a great time. Waking up to the sound of the rainforest all around was just amazing and is something I'll forever remember and cherish. Unlike other reviews, we had great WiFi, although the cold showers were still in place! We then went back to Lima for one night, and was met by Abrahim again, briefly, to ensure that we got to the airport hotel safely. The following day we flew to Cusco and were met at the airport by the lovely Doris, who took us to our fabulous hotel. The breakfasts here were amazing, and I would also thoroughly recommend just having afternoon coffee in the bar - the barman treated us like royalty! My husband and teens then met the legendary Richard in the afternoon to start a tour round Cusco (I wasn't feeling great). Our son proceeded to come down with quite severe altitude sickness after a few hours, and fainted in the tour. He had to have a night in hospital on oxygen. I cannot fault the hotel who called a doctor in straight away (the doctor arrived after just 20 mins, took Nat to hospital on an ambulance after putting him on oxygen) or Richard and Rita, both of whom came to the hospital to check Nat was okay. We had a private room with a bathroom in the hospital, and were treated so well by the staff - a bit of a different experience to our hospitals back home! Nat recovered well, after a night on oxygen, and we had a quiet day pottering round Cusco whilst my husband and daughter went on another trip with Richard to see sites outside of Cusco. The following morning we were met very early by Richard, ready to start the Inca Trail. I cannot describe fully how amazing this experience was. Walking that elevation at that altitude was hard, but so worth it. When we got to the top of Dead Woman's Pass, we were very proud of ourselves, and the views along the way were just breathtaking, especially on the third day. Just incredible. Richard was so knowledgeable about everything Inca - I don't know how he stores so much knowledge! The porters and chefs were invariably cheerful, and we felt very inadequate when we saw them with their loads. They are superheroes! The food we were cooked by the amazing chefs was plentiful and delicious - we had toasted marshmallows one day and the chef actually made a cake on the final day - on a camp stove!!!! The final day was spent travelling to, and walking up, Rainbow Mountain, which was a lot more challenging than we expected, but we finally reached the peak, encouraged by Richard's pipe playing. Overall, this was a holiday of a lifetime. Absolutely incredible. Everyone we met through Sungate Tours went over and above expectations, and we were made to feel so welcome everywhere we went. Peru will have a place in our hearts forever, and we're already looking at other countries to visit in South/Central America. We did Lima-Cusco-Machu-Pichu-Puño trip for 8 days. It was the best of experience for all of us. They planned every details from pick-up to drop-off. All the tour guides down to the initial planner, Fernando- were so awesome and knowledgeable. They were all very flexible in helping us navigate a country where it is not our native language. We would recommend HIGHLY using them for your next trip to Peru!!

This was our first time using a tour company as I normally plan our itinerary and travel when we travel to Europe and other places. But for Peru, we decided to use Sun Gate Tours based on others’ recommendations and my conversations with Fernando. And it was well worth it! They did an excellent job in planning and managing the trip. Fernando was incredibly helpful in creating a customized itinerary for my family of five for our first time in Peru in June-July. Our trip included Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Manchu Picchu and Puno/Lake Titicaca. The actual trip was 7 days, with 2 extra days for transfers to and from the Lima airport. We asked for a higher level of hotels, and for the domestic transfers (air and train) as well. The hotels were great and the transfers went smoothly. The guides were excellent, and Fernando even helped when we had a medical issue (which did help tremendously!). When we landed in Lima, Abraham was great in providing some recommendations and tips. And the walking tour was great. Our airport transfers went smoothly. For Cusco, Doris was very helpful with transfers and Marco from Cusco was our guide. He did a great job on our tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. He had tremendous expertise and was flexible when some in our party got altitude sickness. Ruben from Puno was very knowledgeable in explaining the customs of the people living on the floating islands (Uros), the island of Tequile, and the prior civilizations at the Chullpas at Sillustani I highly recommend Sun Gate tours for their incredible usefulness, flexibility, friendliness, expertise, and guidance. We could not have done this ourselves and were so glad we used Sun Gate!

We had planned and booked a trip to Peru online through Sun Gate Tours for Feb 2023 but due to political unrest in Peru, we could not travel in 2023. This time in 2024 early June, we made it utilizing our previous booking amount. It was a week long tour to Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Sacred valley and Rainbow mountain. We communicated with Lucas and he was very polite and helpful in organizing everything. From landing in Lima till our departure, it was an amazing experience. Our stay in all the hotels in Lima, Cusco and Aguas Calientis was very comfortable. All the guides were excellent with English, very knowledgeable and helpful. Lunches provided were good especially culinary activity in learning Peruvian cuisine was too good an experience. We just loved it. And finally Doris who received us at Cusco airport, was very courteous and only a phone call away for any queries. It was so reassuring in a foreign country. We definitely recommend a trip to Peru with Sun Gate Tours.

Richard our guide was great . He was very knowledgeable about history , inca culture, flowers, plants... he was passionate , willing to share his knowledge and good andes flute player. The trail is quite interesting: lot of variety in plants and many interesting inca sites. The team was excellent, great food and lot of varieties in food served . Very nice porters . Service was top notch. Equipment provided ( tents, sleeping pads,..) were in excellent conditions. Although this is not in the control of Sungate tours but reflects more on the whole inca trail logistics : The campsites on the trails are very crowded and not great. Toilets are in poor conditions. The conditions imposed on porters by the rail company to wake up at 2am or 3am to run to catch a porter train, are deplorable.

Everything worked as per plan. The guide was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food delicious and beautifully presented. Very attentive to the environment. Highly reccomended

Enriching experience through nature, local community and archeology. Everything was well organized, the guide competent and attentive, the crew efficient and discreet, the cooks have been amazing! I live in the United States. My wife and I contacted Sungate Tours just nine days before we boarded the plane to land in Lima, communicated with their team many times over the phone, and sent emails before our itinerary was finalized. Their response was fast. We could communicate with them even on Saturday morning to finalize the itinerary, only after which we booked our plane tickets. We were picked up at the airport in Lima. Except for a small glitch in their printout of our itinerary, all went almost perfectly. Their guides spoke English well. We took the fourteen-day tour, spending five nights in Lima and four nights in Cusco. Our tour included a trip to Nasca to see the Nasca Lines from a helicopter, and a fun sand-dune roller-coaster ride on a Dune Buggy, where you can sand-board(we didn't do this) also. I took the Inca trail with their terrific guide Freddie. I had a mishap because of slippery stones(it was rainy and wet) and he came to my rescue, and I came out unscathed. Since my hike started at 10:20 am from Km 104, I missed the last bus to return to my hotel in Aguas Calientes. Sungate Tours arranged for a special pickup and that was a big help. Doris came to see us both when we arrived and left Cusco. Thank you Doris for the small gift you gave us when we left Cusco for Puno. Overall, we enjoyed our trip to Peru, and Sungate Tours was a big part of that.

Sungate Tours was an excellent agency to work with. When another agency cancelled my trip the stepped in and made a custom tour for my wife and I including time in Lima, time in Cusco with some amazing nearby tours, a day trip to Rainbow Mountain and a trip to the sacred valley and Machu Picchu. All the guides were amazing and we enjoyed our time with Jose the most. He knew so much of the Incan and Peruvian history and helped make the trip really enjoyable.
