- S642EEerikat0 contributionsAuthentic experience to learn about Peruvian culture, religion and traditionsI spent 2 days with Cesar and Hernan in the Sacred Valley and around Machu Picchu and I had an incredibly authentic experience. We visited a local family in the Sacred Valley who welcomed me as if I was one of them. They borrowed me their dress, we cooked lunch together in the traditional way, we participated in a traditional llama ceremony/religious ritual and they have also thought me how to make their handcraft. It was the best way to meet local people and have a small insight into the extremely rich peruvian and inca traditions and cultures. I just wish I would have had more time to spend in the village. Following this experience we visitted the archeological site of Ollantaytambo, and we spent the night in Aguas Calientes. The following day was to discover Machu Picchu, where my guides made everything possible to offer me the best views of the site. Both Cesar and Hernan were extremely knowledgeable and they complemented each other perfectly - Hernan is a Master of history and geography, while Cesar is a spiritual and religious leader, so they could explain with great detail the importance of the Inca archeological sites. They did everything to make me feel comfortable, I felt fully safe everywhere, and I have learnt so much about Peruvian culture and history during these 2 days. I can wholeheartedly recommend their tours as they give the most authentic experience possible, and they treat you as a friend.Written May 19, 2024
- lauradM5317XJ0 contributionsIncredible trip! Highly recommend Homestay Journeys!!Wow! I cannot recommend Homestay Journeys and Cesar enough. Firstly, Cesar is an incredibly patient and knowledgeable guide and secondly, an incredible chef (the best food I have had in Peru hands down!).y friend and I booked a private tour with Cesar and were incredibly lucky enough to have a large snowfall in the region the days prior. This lead to a magical experience filled with white capped mountains, and really added to the adventure. Cesar also woke us up every morning to coca tea and made us a fresh coffee on his mocha pot to get us ready for the day- what a treat!!!! And no meals were ever repeated and they were incredibly healthy, so we were very energised for our long hiking days. I cannot recommend enough. Compared to other hiking tour groups I have gone through in Peru, Homestay journeys was far better than the other companies.Written May 30, 2023
- annnonnnnn0 contributionsWow! 100% loved this.Wow! We loved this tour with Cesar and our horseman Amilka! It was a dream. Cesar was able to customise this for us and he was the most amazing chef. I really recommend this tour! Cesar gave us a great price and we had everything we could have wanted (incredible vegetarian food)!!Written May 15, 2023
- KvdTang0 contributionsAmazing experienceAn amazing overnight trek! Everything was taken care of perfectly. The hike itself is not easy, but not too hard. Our kids (ages 8 and 10) were perfectly able to do it. We did choose to take a back carrier for our 4 year old, but she also could have ridden the ‘emergency’ horse. The scenery along the route is just so beautiful and the homestay is simple but comfortable. César is an great tour guide. He is also a shaman and because it was a special day on the Andean calendar, he did a ceremony in the evening for the local people which we were invited to participate in. It was an heartwarming experience. And Huchuy Qosqo is a beautiful inca site that you most likely won’t have to share with hundreds of other tourists. All in all an amazing experience and highly recommendWritten September 26, 2022
- RoosvdL0 contributionsVery special! We had a wonderful week exploring the Sacred Valley. I am so happy I got to meet Cesar. I absolutely recommend to plan a tour with him. He is so kind and deeply connected. We were lucky to withness a despacho ceremony with him, which I will never forget. Everything was taken care of in the smallest details. Would definately contact him again if I travel to the Sacrad Valley again. Sulpayki Anchata!Written September 20, 2021
- JegerX0 contributionsUnforgettablePeru is beautiful of course and seeing the sights was wonderful, but it was truly amazing how we were made to feel like family with our guide. We were treated like brothers and sisters and a sort of spiritual appreciation for the land and people. A trip to remember forever.Written June 24, 2021
- Flo_athena0 contributionsUnique experienceBeen travelling a month in Peru, staying with local people whenever I could, but this tour with Cesar was the closest I have been to the culture and traditions of andean Peru. During our stayovers, we got to see and participate in the daily life of our hosts, their work, agriculture, beliefs, crafts, cuisine, and so on, all this amidst amazing landscapes. Cesar kept us off the beaten tracks, made us visit little known inca sites and discover breathtaking sceneries, while teaching us about local traditions, history and spirituality. The tour was custom-made, Cesar organised it following our interests and schedule, don't hesitate to ask! One of my favourite experiences in Peru, 100% recommended!Written November 16, 2019
- 671christophes0 contributionsAmazing local experienceIf you're looking for something local, getting to know some families following their ancient roots away from the main touristic attraction, and see fabulous landscapes on inca trails unknown to the public, then Homestay Journey is probably your best option. Cesar made a tailored plan for us with very short notice, and he coordinated with the families an unforgettable 3-day journey through the sacred valley. An amazing experience feeling close to the families, learning about agricultural and textile activities, and trekking through breath-taking landscapes. Very recommended, noting also that the way this journey was organised felt very ethical, helping directly the families. Thanks a lot Cesar, meeting you made such a difference in the experience and memories we took back home.Written November 12, 2019

- rizzuca0 contributionsTreck to Machu Picchu with LamasIf you want to discover real Andean People, good and pure, person who really have nice connections with nature, mountains and gods you can choose track with Cesar. Cezar really emit positive energy and calm. Before to go with Cesar, we were very stressed because we realized we have canceled tickets for Machu Picchu. He helped us to take another ones and he was very nice, so calm and good…. We became very soon happy. This positive energy is maybe because is Shaman…or just because is “Andean People”? He spoke so nice about his religion, about harmony between people, nature, animals…about Pachamama , Inca people and Inca culture. Everything that he done is was positive and pure. It was a spiritual experience, more than a normal track to Machu Pichu. We choose Lama trek, because we wanted to be more “exotic” and, indeed, lamas were very sweet. More than this, the trek was not so difficult (my husband has problem with meniscus), but the views was beautiful. In the night we sleep in a homestay house, at 4000m altitude, with very nice view to Sacred Valley. The food and hospitality were great. Do not expect to lux and normal hotel conditions, but if you want to discover real life in Peru and if you want to see picturesque part of Peru, it is a good choice. In the morning, with incredible beautiful view at 4000m, he did a Pachamama ceremony for us, for spiritual cleaning and for prosperity. I don’t know if this was the result, but even now, after 3 week, I feel better and more relaxed )) I really thank you to Cesar and I recommend him to person who wants to feel the positive and clean vibe of PERU!Written July 14, 2019
- jovanna d0 contributionsExperience the authentic Heart of the AndesWe traveled with Homestay Journey from Cusco to the incomparable 5000M vista above Palcoyo, Standing there, you are surrounded with 360 degrees of inspiration, from the snowcapped peaks of the highest Andes to dramatic multi-colored ridges framed in rich greens and reds. Although the elevation is high the 45 minute hike is accessible, and not overrun with visitors since it is accessed through small rural roadways set with villages. Cesar and his hermano are strong, punctual and responsible guides, speaking English, Spanish, and the native Quechua. And most importantly, they are true children of the Andes -- Cesar led us in a heartfelt Incan ceremony together on the high peak.Written February 19, 2019

- _eisape0 contributionsCesar IS PeruCesar offered us an incredible and no doubt authentic experience of Peru. He incarnates the very soul of his beautiful country and transmits it to the people he guides with honesty and passion. He has knowledge of both the visible and the invisible world; an unforgettable encounter, thank you, Cesar, much love ❤️ !Written August 25, 2018
- betorraf0 contributionsVinicunca Trek (7 color mountain)Great Experience!! Cesar, our guide, was such an insightful person with vast knowledge of the Inca culture. He himself comes from a lineage of Shaman decent so he performed an incredible ceremony for our group, such a nice way to conclude our 2 week trip to Peru. We spent 5 days walking the Salkantay Trek to Machupichu and could argue the view up at the Vinicunca mountain is just as impressive.Written August 24, 2018
- tpi19920 contributionsAmazing Experience!!!I visited Peru with my in-laws and had the amazing priviledge of having Cesar as our guide. On our last day of our 14-day trip, Cesar took us on the Rainbow Mountain tour. We took an alternate route, Polcayo, instead of the more popular Vinicunca. Our experience hiking up the mountain was incredible, but the best part of the entire day was the Ceremony that Cesar led on the top of the mountain. Cesar, as it turns out, is a Shaman. He shared his experiences being in close contact with nature, and we all participated in a ceremony to Pacha Mama (Mother Earth). It was a once in a lifetime experience and a great way to end our trip to Peru. Something I will never forget! I 100% recommend it. Very honest, hard-working and pleasant people!Written August 24, 2018
