- R2997HTdanielh0 contributionsAmazing tour to the Rainbow Mountains.Everything was professionally executed with a good customer focus and services. I strongly recommend to book this compelling tour to the Rainbow Mountain. We as a group hat a lot of fun with the Inka Explorer Viajes. Daniel from SwitzerlandWritten October 10, 2024
- 13kianp0 contributionsMagical ride through sacred valley to rainbow mountainAn amazing experience, magical driving through the sacred valley. We arrived at rainbow mountain early enough that there were hardly any crowds. The breakfast and lunch was fresh and really nice. Our tour guide was excellent and we would recommend the experience to anyone, it is most definitely worth it!!Written October 7, 2024
- Coastal262888588190 contributionsGreat but not for the heartIt’s great experience but for those with heart issues it’s challenging due to the altitude I almost passed out and was given oxygenWritten September 9, 2024
- jenniferhA1327OO0 contributionsWonderful experience and a must next to Machu Picchu. It was really fun riding an ATM to get to the base of Rainbow Mountain. The scenery was absolutely wonderful. Would advise to take a motorcycle up to the summit rather than walking up due to a high altitude. Rainbow Mountain is a must next to Machu Picchu in Peru. The colors were amazing. Our tour guides were excellent, making sure everyone was safe and had a great experience.Written September 6, 2024
- christianj123450 contributionsGreat Tour!Best tour I have done in Cusco! The ATV ride is fun. Guides are very professional and take enough time to explain everything. It's a good alternative to the standard rainbow mountain tour. Would recommend it to everyone!Written July 27, 2024
- EdithMelendez0 contributionsSIMPLY MARS-TASTICALLY BEAUTIFUL! On another world! Grandiose!Well organized and quite early, i loved that the guides confirm with you a day or two before to prepare with masks to not eat dust and gloves for riding the quads. They have you send a picture of yourself and your weight to accomadate the right quad and access your health to make sure you will be okay trekking the challenging sand. They wouldnt want you rolling for days down the mountain i am sure. They picked me up at my hotel and dropped me off so thats great! Had to be one of the approved in route to stick to the schedule . We stopped for breakfast in a tiny town before continuing on for another hour or so to the switchbacks of the mountain to learn the basics of riding a quad. They assigned you a quad based on weight. im overweight but fit 165 and 90 something kilos 240lbs and i got a sturdier one. From there mask up because you basically eat dust on the switch backs up the mountain and down with your mates while taking in the breathtaking views! Wish they would have made a stop at the dinosaur looking rock the is strethcing out vertically by a lake full of alpacas but i understood things are on a time limit. We had carried enough soles $ to pay the area teens to carry some of us brave souls to mount the back of the dirt bikes to finish taking us from the MIRADOR view over to the Rainbow mounting view. HYDRDATE! Oxygen tank and positive vibes! WELL Organized! was back at hotel by 6-7pm to shower and pass out! GRACIAS AMIGOS!Written June 13, 2024
- hakunakakata0 contributionsTerrible experienceI had a terrible experience with Viator & this tour company. On April 24, I made a reservation for this tour through Viator. On April 29, I went to the address listed online for the tour company to discuss the tour (which was scheduled for April 30). I couldn't find the tour company at the address and noticed that different sources provided different addresses. I tried calling the tour company multiple times but couldn't reach them. I then called Viator and asked them to connect me with the tour company, but Viator also couldn't reach them despite trying multiple times. I requested to cancel the tour and get a refund, but they said they wouldn't refund my money as it was within the last 24 hours before the tour. They said they would only refund if the tour company didn't pick me up from the hotel and didn't provide the service at the scheduled time. I explained that this wasn't sufficient for me because I had come from the other side of the world for this tour and only had one day to take it. If the tour company didn't show up, I wouldn't have time to organize another tour at the last minute, so I wanted to cancel immediately. The customer representative then said they would try calling the tour company one last time and if they couldn't reach them, they would cancel my tour and refund my money. I repeatedly asked for a guarantee that I would definitely get a refund, and the representative assured me that I would. However, I received no refund or notification afterwards, so I called Viator again. They said they would initiate the refund process, but shortly after, I received an email stating that I wouldn't get a refund. I called Viator again and mentioned the promise of a refund. They said they would start an investigation by reviewing the call recording. I didn't receive any update within the promised time frame, and for the past three weeks, I've been calling almost every day to follow up, explaining my problem from scratch each time. The last time I called, they said the process was ongoing and couldn't provide a timeline, but about an hour later, I received an email saying the process was complete and I wouldn't get a refund. When I called Viator again, they confirmed there was no error in the email and that a negative decision had been made regarding my case. When I asked for the reason, they said it was the decision of the relevant department without any further explanation. I requested a recording of my initial call with Viator, but they said they couldn't provide it. Throughout this process, every email I received from Viator came about an hour after I called them, making me think Viator hadn't actually initiated any process regarding my issue and was only sending token emails when I called for updates. If I hadn't called and followed up, they wouldn't have addressed my problem at all. I will never use this company's services again and will tell everyone around me about this terrible experience, advising them to stay away from this company. Besides not receiving any service or a refund, I also endured a weeks-long, exhausting customer experience.Written May 21, 2024
- selvanaa0 contributionsBest experience of Rainbow MountainFrom pick-up to drop-off everything was super smooth! Riding quads up to rainbow mountain was amazing and that is the best way to take in this experience. Arturo, our tour guide, was absolutely amazing and accommodating. The breakfast was simple but filling for the day. The lunch was delicious. Nice buffet spread and everything tasted absolutely delicious. The bus ride was about 3 hours to get there and then 3 hours back. The quads to rainbow mountain was about an hour ride with the quads to get there and then an hour back. You also get to ride through rivers and bumpy terrain. It was so fun. At the entrance of rainbow maintain, we paid to have someone take us up on a dirty bike which was an awesome experience and not expensive at all. $10-15 US for that. We didn’t hike up because the air is so thin due to very high elevation. We did hike back down which wasn’t bad. We took a lot of pictures and Arturo took pics for us as well. Amazing experience. I’m glad we did this and would do it again.Written March 24, 2024
- mdS2039ZX0 contributionsBest way up to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)Going up via Quad Bike is much more enjoyable than being inside the van! ..even if it's not all the way. We were spot on with the timing of everything as per advertised itinerary. What's even better is that we beat the big crowd to the top! They were only coming in on our way down. Many thanks Arturo and Avel for your hard work in this tour, even organising good weather :-)Written March 13, 2024
- PeterSFL0 contributionsIs this trip really worth the challenges? The trip starts at 3:30am, followed by a 90 min bus ride to a restaurant. Since we do not usually eat at 5am, and our stomachs were not too happy from the bumpy morning ride, we did not eat much. The second part of the journey was another 90 min. The roads got REALLY bumpy, I do not usually get car sick but I was getting sick here. Once we finally arrived at the ATV station, we took off. This was the best part of the trip. Beautiful ride on ATVs! However, this particular tour DOES NOT take you close to the top. It is still quite a hike from where we had to park the ATVs, so we opted for the recommended 10 min. ride on the back of a motorcycle with locals (50 soles/ ~$17). The bike driver was really inconsiderate, riding with us like he was trying to punish us. There were ATVs from another company that would take you close to the top, exactly where the bike ride ended. Choosing that company would have saved us over $50 for 3 ppl and not be disgruntled by the ride. On the way back the super bumpy road got all 3 of us car sick, which hasn't happened to me in decades prior to this trip. Did not eat the lunch due to feeling sick. It was perhaps a combination of the altitude and bad roads, but I couldn't eat. The Rainbow Mountain by itself is nice but is it worth the trip? Starting at 3:30am, coming back at 5pm, super bad roads... I would not do it again. My advise would be that if you really want to see the Rainbow Mountain, go with a company that allows their ATVs go close to the top. - Vivian L0 contributionsGreat experience! It was fun and well organised activity I have had so far. We get the excitement on driving the ATV through the valley. Then the hike to the top of Montana Vinikunka is moderate but once you reached the top the view spectacular! Highly recommendedWritten January 3, 2024
- teodorap260 contributionsAmazingAbsolutely amazing, great good, great service! From transportation, to atv, to good, and to helping us out with altitude sickness to everythingWritten December 21, 2023
The day was really nice. It started at 3:30 AM. The driver arrived right around the schedule time. We were taking for breakfast after one point 5 Hour Dr. towards rainbow mountain, which was complementary. The ATV were in great condition. For what we paid it was really good deal for getting lunch as well afterwards. And the tour guide speaks English, which is very helpful. I had left my jacket in the vehicle after being dropped off, And the honest man brought me my jacket backWritten December 17, 2023
- ashleysE4122UM0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experience! This is a good operator. Everything went smoothly and was peaceful. All staff were wonderful. The restroom/meals stops were well timed. This is a MUST-SEE! This tour operator makes it very doable for nervous and/or overweight people. We opted for the motor bike ride up to the top from the end of the AVT trail. The final hike up from the motor-bike drop-off was fairly flat and easy to walk. Readers planning: be aware this is around 17,000 feet in elevation, DO plan to acclimate in Cusco a few days before attempting. I did get altitude sick in Cusco my first day there, I did this trip on my third day there and had no further altitude issues from this day trip.Written October 20, 2023

We had waited for 40 mins before finally calling the Tour operator at 9:00, who said of the misunderstanding between Tripadvisor and them. A taxi was sent to pick us up to catch a completely different cheap trip with a big bus for 40 persons and we were put in the very back seats. Obviously this was not Sacred Valley VIP (Day Trip) at all. The trip ended missing 2 sites: Moray and Maras, because the substitute trip was completely different one...
I know Tripadvisor has been working very hard to push more products to satisfy different customer needs; however, the local trip operators care more about the cost-saving and integrate different products into one trip, unfortunately. With the different goals of two partners, I am wondering if such a business model is sustainable.
