We found this to be an alternative to the hiking tour and immediately decided to do this. Marco was very nice and accommodating. He was truly passionate in sharing the local traditions and culture and his attention to details was simply fantastic. The tour included transport, breakfast and lunch so it was quite a package.

First time visiting Peru! The Happy Gringo team communicated through WhatsApp (in English) before the tour, organised a driver to pick us up in Cusco (right on time), enabling us to make the train connection in Ollyantaytambo. We were met at Aguas Calientes and escorted to our hotel room without a problem. However an issue arose on arrival which involved us waiting in line for 1.5 hours in the ticket building in the pueblo to obtain new site entry tickets for the following day. It was a very long line and we were finally able to get tickets, but at a different time than planned. Nevertheless, the following morning we were met on time by Jorge Castelo who then guided just the 2 of us up to the Citadel and back. Jorge spoke very good English (I fumbled through my rudimentary Spanish!), was super informative and led us around the beautiful site highlighting all the notable and interesting locations. He really provided an outstanding service to us during our 2-hour tour and afterwards I ensured that we bought him a beer back in town to say thanks! I’d recommend Happy Gringo tours and appreciated the personalised guidance through a magnificent site in their beautiful country Peru. Great stuff.

The trip to Machu Picchu with the Happy Gringo Tour was well organized. The only problem was the journey from Cusco to the railway station, where the train to Machu Picchu left and back. The sofer that took our group on the mini-van did not use air-conditioning, not even ventilation! At the end of each 1.5 hour journey the air in the car was unbreathable and there was more CO2 than oxygen! Disaster! We were all delighted when the door opened at the finish. The train journey is pleasant, although the track is in terrible condition. The visit to Machu Picchu itself was well organised and our guides were professional.

This was a bucket list item and it turned out to be fantastic! First let me tell you about the actual experience. Our tour operators picked us up at our hotel in Cusco and drove our group one and a half hours to Ollantaytambo. It is an early morning…4:30 AM. We boarded our train for a two hour journey to Machu Picchu Pueblo and the scenery was outstanding. Once in Machu Picchu Peublo our guides met us and we had a bit of time to grab breakfast. Next we all boarded a bus for a 30 minute drive up the mountain. Again, the views were amazing. At the top our two guides took us on a more than two hour tour. They knew the stories, the culture, the best spots for photos, and so much more. They are some of the best guides we have had. After the tour we went back down in the bus and all had lunch together. By the end everyone was exchanging social media and phone numbers, and even the guides joined in! I would highly recommend this experience. The tour company, Happy Gringos, was excellent in putting together all the details and ensuring everything went smoothly. Our guides were fantastic! I want to show special appreciation to Ruben and Mauro. We love you guys!
