- sylbia300A trip of a lifetime!!I cannot say enough good things about my recent trip to beautiful Peru and our wonderful guide Jose! Our 2-week trip was very well planned and tailored to our preferences. Every person who helped us on our trip was welcoming, informative, and professional. Accommodations were perfect and the meals were beyond what I expected. It truly was the most relaxing, stress-free vacation I have had. Special thanks to our guide Jose, who became a true friend on the trip. He was so accommodating and always made sure we had what we needed. He is a wealth of information as it pertains to Peru history and even taught us a little Quechua. I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know him and learn so much about Peru.
- johnpellow00Customized Tour of Cusco including Macha Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Rainbow MountainJose, the owner of Peru by Locals put together a customized 9 day tour of the region of Cusco that was perfect for getting us acclimated to the altitude and allowed us to experience the true culture of Peru. Our Guide Auriol, was very knowledgeable with the Inca history, the geography and everything else Peru. He was very patient with us and made sure we all accomplished every feat. Our trip included a tour of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, a trek to a 300' waterfall, train rides across the region, a long day trek on the Inca Trail to Macha Picchu, an assent of Waynapicchu, and a 4 day high altitude trek at over 16,500 feet with Llamas to Rainbow Mountain. We could not have asked for better service and experience. If you are looking for a great tour operator that will take care of your every need, Peru by Locals is the only way to go. Thank you Jose, Auriol and the rest of the team for making our trip an experience of a lifetime.
- irelan_nh001,000% recommend - best trip of our lives! This was literally the best trip of my life, made even more amazing by our super guides, Jose and Auriol, and our ace driver John. Everyone was knowledgeable, kind, funny, and they went above and beyond to make the trip so special for us. We loved learning about the Quechuan culture from Jose; it really brought the sites alive. Our group (two couples) did not have to share the van with other tourists, which was nice. We felt safe everywhere we went. The guides helped to translate when we struggled with our Spanish; they spoke excellent English. Our three-star hotels were all very clean and nice. Our eight-day, lodge-based itinerary: Day 1: Arrive in Cusco, rest/walk around city at leisure. Day 2: Cusco city tour Day 3: Sacred Valley tour Day 4: Cultural immersion at the Willoq Village Day 5: Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu Day 6: Qeswachaka Bridge Day 7: Humantay Lake Day 8: Rainbow Mountain Note: We did much more each day than just this; every day was packed full of stops and sites and sometimes even impromptu events (roadside stargazing, a stop for chicha beer and a game of sapo, etc.). The cultural immersion day in the village of Willoq was such a highlight of this trip. We loved getting to know their ways of life, eat the foods they traditionally eat, see their beautiful woven pieces, and visit the school. Each day was truly wonderful in such different ways. I am glad we included all of it and would not have wanted to change anything in the itinerary. The drives to the sites offered opportunities to soak in the views of the countryside. The food everywhere was amazing! Even the boxed lunches we had while roaming the countryside were super delicious. The restaurants were really good, all freshly prepared local foods. Absolutely fantastic trip of a lifetime! I am already scheming to get back there again. 😀 Highly, highly recommend going with Peru By Locals for your visit - they made it a million times better with their approach and attitude. 💕
- 778debbyw00Wonderful Experience with Peru By Locals!!!We hired Peru By Locals on the references from a co-worker who spoke very highly of them. Jose (of Peru By Locals) was our tour guide in Cusco, Peru between December 19, 2021 and December 24th 2021. Our group consisted of me, my husband and our 9 year old son. After picking us up from the airport in Cusco the first day, he took us to our hotel where we settled in and had a nice dinner. The hotel was smack in the center of the historical district and we were able to walk around and experience the vibe of that location. For the first 2 days and last 2 days of our trip, we experienced the history of the city and the surrounding Incan ruins and other points of interest via the luxury of Jose's comfortable passenger van (shout out to John, our driver!) His knowledge of the history and significance of each of the places we visited was amazing and so educational and fun! The 3rd day we spent at Machu Picchu and the 4th and 5th days, we spent touring the salt mines, visiting a wild animal sanctuary, an Alpaca hair weaving farm and more Incan ruins. The last day, Jose drove us to the airport and bid us farewell. Highlights of our trip included the Cusco city tour, the ruins at Sacsayhuaman and Pisaq, the train ride to Aguas Calientes, and of course, climbing Machu Picchu! Despite the fact that our 9 year old got a bit restless at times and that I was nurturing an injured ankle, Jose had a lot of patience and made sure that we were comfortable, safe and thoroughly engaged the entire time. He is a true professional. He also really customized the itinerary to serve our needs. And most importantly, he was able to provide the point of view and folklore knowledge that only a local would have - which, in my opinion - makes Jose and Peru By Locals stand out from the rest of the tour guides in that area. My family and I will remember this trip our whole lives and are so grateful to Jose for making this the most amazing "bucket list" trip of a lifetime!
- SanjshineC002 Day Inca Trail - most unforgettable experience of our lives! We were recommended Jose Condor from Peru by Locals by a local friend. Amidst the sea of tour companies, we found their website to be more modern and comprehensive. They did not stand to disappoint. Jose guided us through the 2 day inca trail and it was the best experience we've ever had. While it was more expensive than some of the other companies we looked into, we felt like Jose's knowledge and stories stood out on the trip. It was a smooth trek and the only bump we encountered was running out of water (we recommend bringing 2-3 litres of water per person at least!). We felt comfortable with Jose's professionalism that we even contacted him to help us organise our Rainbow Mountain hike in Cusco.
- Vickie B00Getting to know the people, customs, and life styleThis was an amazing experience. Our family included young children, teenagers, parents and grand parents. This experience was the height of our Peru trip. We had an opportunity to meet the kind hard working natives of Peru, and experience their daily life style and customs. I was expecting a camping experience but instead we had comfortable beds, delicious food and memorable experiences. The women demonstrated how they color their yarns and their weaving. They had beautiful works of art. The best part was our guide Jose Condor. He was a wealth knowledge. His English was outstanding. He showed us so many places we would have missed.Take your cameras because the pictures are amazing.
- Hanna S00Best time ever.We have been visiting Peru with my friend and did the Inka Trail with Edgar from Peru by locals. It was truly an unexpected experience we lived within those 4 days spent in the mountains. Our guide Edgar was very knowledgeable, full of energy and good vibes. He always encouraged us keep going. We were very surprised by the superb quality of the food, Martin is an amazing cook! We wish to go back and would do it again, even with the one million stairs. We can only recommend to trip with Jose and Edgar from Peru by locals, an Experience to live!! Thank you, Peace & Love Dóri & Hanna
- ccinla5700Beyond SatisfactionI accidently bumped into this vendor-Peru by Locals when searched a day trip in Cusco. At beginning I was skeptical about all the 5 stars reviews. But I realized the reviews were posted on TripAdvisor not vendor's own website. So, vendor can't delete or remove any bad reviews. Therefore I decided to give it a try. Booking was easy and fast. Jose responded within couple hours and confirmed our trip. From booking to the day we met Jose, we emailed him several times for all kinds of questions, he always answered in timely manner even questions not related to the day trip. We chose to a private tour just me and my friends. Jose showed up at our hotel on time. Right away we felt we would have a great day. Jose is professional and passionate with his job. Super knowledgeable and honest. Never push us to buy anything or took us to surveniors shops. We asked his suggestions of restaurant for lunch. He introduced couple places and food choices. After we kept saying no to different places, he mentioned that his bro owns a small restaurant. So, we went. OMG. the food was delicious and healthy. The bill was less than 1/3 of regular places. What a surprise. The trip supposed took 6-7 hours but Jose spent at least 8 hours with us. Not because we were tired, I believe Jose would take us see more stuffs. We have travelled many places and had many different excursions led by local tours/people. By far,Peru by Locals is the best one.
- Corene Oustad B00Amazing Experience!!I took my family (10 people total, 5 kids ages 5-12, grandma + grandpa, husband and brother in law on an overnight homestay with Jose in the mountains of Willoq. It was one of the best experiences we had in Peru. We stayed with a native family in their adobe homes, they welcomed us with music and flower necklaces. They taught us all about their culture (weaving and dying the wool), and we helped the family harvest potatoes. Jose took us all around to the sites near by and was a great tour guide. His english was great and he was very knowledgable in all the areas. We had amazing food made by our host family and loved the time we were able to spend with the native people and learn about their culture. Our adobe homes were nice and clean and they had nice bathrooms with flushing toilets for us to use. Jose was very accommodating with our needs and went out of his way to make our trip memorable. I am so thankful my children were able to have this experience and make some new friends with the children there. I highly recommend this experience for any family who wants to experience the amazing culture of the Peruvian people!!!!
- Madeline C00An amazing week in Peru!Peru by locals made our 5 days in Peru absolutely perfect. The planning process was seamless and everything was well organized and super informative! They did a phenomenal job, recommend 11/10. Thank you!
- Abbys10109100The best group of people ever! Highly Recommend!by the time i was ready for Machu Picchu i was having a miserable trip. high fever. wheezing. exhausted and defeated. Edgar, my tour guide for the 2-day Inca Trail trek turned my entire trip around. I was struggling to get through the trek but Edgar was so patient with me, he single handedly saved my life. and is the reason i was able to make it to the end. he never left me behind because i was falling behind. he was understanding of the struggle i was going through, and he was very knowledgeable on how to help me through it. the Inca-Trail if you're considering it you already know its well worth the challenge. but i strongly believe who you do the trek with makes all the difference in the world. I was involved with another few treks in Huaraz earlier in my trip and i can honestly say having Edgar as my guide made the difference between me 1) making it to the end, 2)enjoying the trek and 3) being able to recommend it to others i was also fortunate to have Jose as my guide for a day around a few of the ruins in Cusco, he made time for me last minute and was very knowledgeable. I was able to learn so much and he was never annoyed by the number of questions i asked. if you're considering Cusco, talk to Jose from Peru by locals before you go anywhere else, you wont be disappointed.
- roxannec012400Amazing 2-day trekking with Peru by Locals in Machu PicchuThe 2 day trek to Machu Picchu with Peru by Locals was amazing! Our tour guide Edgard is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is doing! I highly recommend anyone who is interested in trekking in Machu Picchu use Peru by Locals!!
- BellaAdvisor00Awesome 2-day trekThe trip is awesome and I really enjoyed every minute here! Our guide is such a knowledgeable, patient and nice person. He’s the leader, photographer and teacher of the team! I hope I will come back in the future and do the 7-day trek with our guide!
- Riley S00Great experience for anyone wanting to see Machu Picchu!I did the 2 day short trek to Machu Picchu with Peru By Locals. Jose Condor handled all of the logistics (train tickets, park permits, etc) prior to our arrival in Cusco and was very responsive in addressing any concerns that our party had. Our guide, Edgar, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the area, and took time to ensure that we understood the history of Incan culture. I highly recommend that anyone looking to visit Machu Picchu use Peru by Locals. My only regret was that I did not have more time to spend on the mountain!
- Lovehawaii140700Simply amazingWe had a awesome experience to hike Inca Trail this summer. Jose and his team are the best!! I started emailing to Jose eight months in advance to secure trail permit and he was prompt and responsive to any questions and concerns we had. The team was very helpful and dependable to any situation during the hike. They cooked yummy foods and very friendly. The guide (I forgot his name unfortunately) English was very good and he was very knowledgeable about Inca history. Simply Peru by Locals are the best choice!

Peru by Locals is incredible. They can handle groups of all sizes and types of people. Their patience and expertise are unmatched. Jose truly cares about his community and the Quechua community from which he comes. It shows through in every aspect of how he treats his staff. That same respect and care extends to his guests as you become part of the community. I have traveled with Jose and Peru by Locals many times and I ALWAYS recommend him to other travelers.

Jose and his crew made the entire experience top notch! The communication beforehand was great while providing details nervous hikers needed. Jose speaks great English and is extremely knowledgeable about the trail, Inca history, and other experiences in the area. My group really bonded with him during the hike and had a blast. We had the best food of our trip on the hike and the sleeping gear was great quality as well. If you are thinking of booking the Inca trail...don't look anymore, Peru by Locals for the win!

WOW! This was an incredible tour. We did the 2 day Inca trail trek along with the Sacred Valley, ATVing to Salineras de Maras, and Rainbow Mountain. Our guide, Auriol, is so personable, funny, and professional. My entire group enjoyed everything we did and it all went by very smoothly. Auriol is very knowledgeable and can answer any question you have. We became such good friends with him that even after our organized tour, we hung out in Cusco the next day and got ice cream together. Jose, the tour coordinator and guide, is also a wonderful person and we became great friends with him afterwards. If you are going to Cusco, I highly recommend this tour group :)

Today we finished the Inca Trail to the Machu Pichu.
From the moment we got in contact with Peru with Locals till the moment we finished the trail, everything was very well organised!
Also Aureoil, our guide on the trail, was outstanding. He did not only guide us on the trail, but told us also a lot about the history of Machu Pichu.
The food during the trail was outstanding, it is almost crazy how they can prepare such a food every day at the campsite.
If you are looking for a company to do the Inca Trail with, Peru by Locals is the place to be!

I can’t say enough great things about Peru By Locals. Everything was very organized, fun and memorable. I started with day tours of Cusco and the Sacred Valley so that I could acclimate. These two days were so great. I saw all of the must see sights and learned so much about the history. Then I went in the inca trail for 4 days and 3 nights. My guide, chef and porters were amazing. They all worked so hard to make my trip great. The food was outstanding. Imagine fine dining 3 meals per day while camping! My guide was so knowledgeable. I learned so much about the history, the environment and wildlife. Then Machu Picchu! wow! The tour was really good. I hiked up to Huayna Picchu was an aventure. I would recommend it! The last day I did a day hike to Rainbow Mountain which was truly beautiful and challenging. There was so much to see and do in the time I was there. I would highly recommend this trip and this company. I was traveling alone and always felt safe. Peru by Locals is a reliable, trustworthy and exceptional guiding company.

Seriously, one of the best trips of my life! We went from Arequipa to Chivay to Puno and then ended at Cusco and Machu Pichu. Using Peru by Locals was a game changer. Jose had everything planned and taken care of so my friends and I were able to sit back and enjoy every single minute of the trip. I’ve used many guides and guided companies before and seriously, none of them have come close to the experience we had with Jose and Peru by Locals. They go completely above and beyond. If you’re planning any type of trip to Peru, I cannot recommend this company enough!!

Peru by Locals customized an 11 day Peru experience that was just incredible. Every detail was thought of and taken care of. We did a city tour of Cuzco, a tour through the Sacred Valley, 1 day on the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, a hike to a waterfall, and ended our trip with a 4 day (3 night) llama trek around a Ausangate mountain to the rainbow mountain.
Jose Condor organized and made sure every detail was perfect. Our guide, Auriol, was just perfect. So knowledgeable about the history, geography, botany of Peru, and made sure that we were well informed, and well taken care of. Auriol was extremely patient with us on our track and super encouraging.
Peru by Locals provides the local feel by using the very best local people to give the very best experience. It was WAY above any expectation we could’ve had.
Thank you to Peru By Locals for giving us the best anniversary trip we could imagine.
