Itinerary
- 1We will be leaving from our office to Maras. Maras is home to over 3600 Salt Wells. Strategically dug into the mountainside, thousands of shallow pools filled with salt water eventually evaporate and leave behind the crystallised salt, a process that has been practiced for more than 500 years. It’s believed that the salt pans were originally constructed by the Wari civilisation, which predates the Inca. However, the Inca saw the economic opportunity in harvesting the salt of Maras and expanded the salt pans further up the mountainside. We will then be visiting the iconic, Moray agricultural terraces. Moray is 4.5 miles from the town of Maras and 39 miles from Cusco. The main feature that impresses travellers is its system of circular agricultural terraces, which are up to 330 feet deep. They are build using retaining walls connected by an irrigation system. Moray can be considered a crop lab– they used the terraces to create micro-climates and grow various products.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- janelA9600BR0 contributionsA phenomenal historical adventureThis tour was fabulous - so much more than I expected. I learned a lot of history, and Jose readily answered all questions. I now have a deeper respect for and interest in the ancient culture of Peru. In addition, Jose and “professional driver” Richard were kind and helpful to all members of our group. I have recommended this tour to others at our hotel. WonderfulWritten October 11, 2024
- Kateleen S0 contributionsCultureCusco has such weird weather because it’s so high up in the skies. One moment it’s hot as balls and the next it feels like we’re in the Andes mountains. So I’d definitely pack accordingly. We did this tour on the same day we landed which was kind of crazy because we hadn’t adjusted to the altitude but honestly we weren’t THAT affected. just a little difficulty breathing and slight nausea. The tour guide we had was named Jose and he was soooo amazing and knowledgeable and you can just tell how much he loves his culture through the way he speaks. It’s beautiful to watch! Thank you Jose!!Written October 11, 2024
- H3360PFmariar0 contributionsBest tour guides, bar noneGreat tour to enjoy one of the many treasures of peru. Our tour guide was very informative and patient with the questions I would have. We had Richard and Jesse as our guides for the evening, and I don't think we could have had a more catered experience.Written October 5, 2024
- tomsT1707JB0 contributionsCusco ruins tourI did this tour solo expecting to be in a group so was suprised when I was the only one on the tour. But glad I went through with it, jose Ttito my tour guide has a wealth of knowledge about the historical sites and answered all my questions with excellent english (i dont speak spanish) great tour to go on if you have an interest in finding out about inca culture around cusco. All very close to cusco with minimal travel I would recommend this tour. Shop at the end of tour where you can pick up quality alpaca wool clothing.Written October 3, 2024
- debsibo0 contributionsSo worth it.We were fortunate to be 1 of 2 couples on this tour so we had great access to our English speaking guide. Prior to the tour the communication with the company was brilliant in relation to preparation and pickup. The quality of the tour was excellent. Would highly recommend this tour operator.Written September 26, 2024
- CemItem0 contributionsQuick guided sight seeing trip in CuscoWe had a nice tour of the important sites in Cusco in half a day. These sites cannot be reached without a vehicle. A guided tour is the only way because if you end up going there alone, you are not going to appreciate what you see. We had a great guide and a driver who showed us these interesting sites in just few hours. I would recommend the tour to any Cusco visitors.Written September 26, 2024
- karissab2140 contributionsGreat tour, great paceJose was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and didn’t rush us through the sites. It was a very nice, steady pace. He was always open for questions and had all the answers! We got to see all 4 ruins plus the alpaca sanctuary at the end of the day. Was just the right of amount of time, not too long, not too rushed. I felt very taken care of and safe.Written September 25, 2024
- llockard29860 contributionsQuite the Efficient ExperienceAfter a successful city tour and Machu Picchu tour (!) I really wanted to see more of the ruins and this tour was perfect! Great communication and (early) pickup right from my door. Very comfortable van and solid amounts of cold water bottles for you. Jose was SUPER knowledgeable, so make sure you have a hat as the shade in the beginning is extremely limited and be ready to learn. Manos de la Comunidad was amazing to see and the prices were comparable to La Vicuñita Factory, but this place made me feel better, so I grabbed my blanket from there. Jose even went above and beyond to convince the man at the desk to allow us to be the last tour of the church and it was great to hear all the explanations and see them in person. Would 100% recommend this tour. :)Written September 25, 2024
- whbaron0 contributionsGood Tour as an add on to MP!Buddy and i went to MP. This tour offered a nice compliment for the days we were in Cusco adjusting to the altitude. We made about 5 stops at various ruins. some amazing sites. Well organizedWritten September 18, 2024
- Abraham G0 contributionsCusco Half Day TourThe tour guide and driver did an excellent job. They picked me up on time, they provided me with an additional information on the tour and then made a quick stop for me to grab some fruit for my hotel room.Written September 11, 2024
- 37ernah0 contributionsWorth it!The tour was worth it, but especially Sacsayhuaman. The views were incredible and the temples give you an idea of the vast empire of the IncasWritten September 10, 2024
- chads8860 contributionsJose was a great guide!Jose was a great guide! He took the time to explain everything in detail at all of our stops. He answered all the questions I had and made the day very interesting. I highly suggest him as a guide! The tour was a good amount of time. I was back to my hotel by 4:00 p.m. which I really appreciate! The driver was great as well! I felt very safe. However, I don't remember his name. Thank you Jose for a great day!Written September 7, 2024

- 600vestav0 contributionsJose Ttito - AMAZING tour guide!I recently took a tour of the ruins in Cusco, and it was an incredible experience! The guide Jose Ttito was truly outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the history and culture of the region. He made each site come alive with fascinating stories and insights, and their enthusiasm was contagious. The ruins themselves were breathtaking, but having such an excellent guide Jose Ttito made the tour even more memorable. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Cusco!Written September 5, 2024

Jose is a very nice guide, he went above and beyond to make this experience a memorable one. He has excllent knowledge on many insights of Incan civilization and as a good english speaker he made it very easier for the whole group to understand him. The sites we visited on this short trip were not so far from Cusco but very interesting with a lot of history and culture. Highly reccomend Andes Peru Tour and Adventure for this tour and if you get Jose as your guide, it would be an absolute bonus!
