Itinerary
- 1We will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco around at 8 a.m. You will be taken on a road that winds around the mountains north of Cusco. On the way, we will stop at a famous point known as El Mirador (Lookout Point). Later on, we will drive towards the ruins of Pisac, you will see amazing works of stone art and impressive agricultural terraces. We will then head to the town of Urubamba, to experience a delicious buffet lunch. After lunch, we will drive to the town of Ollantaytambo. We will visit the ruins, an important area of Incan construction, built during the Inca’s heydays. This is an extraordinary Inca site because you can find rock formations representing the Inca god, Wiracocha. Continue to Chinchero to see how natural dyes are made for artisanal textiles. The town’s inhabitants live in dwellings and conditions nearly the same as their ancestors. They dress in multicolored clothing, speak only Quechua and maintain age-old customs. We will be back in Cusco around 7pm.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- G9690JXrobh0 contributionsA beautiful experience in the jungle, a fantastic guide, and too many animals to countMy fiancé and I recently did the 3 day / 2 night Tambopata tour with PV Travel. For us, it was an incredible experience all around. Our guide, Franklin, has so much knowledge about the local plants, animals, geography, people, and culture. We appreciated how thorough and thoughtful Franklin was, often having to repeat all parts of the tour in English and Spanish. For us, Franklin was the best tour guide we’ve ever had. You can tell he really loves what he does. During our stay, we saw SO many animals including squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, caiman, tarantulas, giant river otters, macaws, parrots, scorpions, bullet ants, a sloth, capybaras, many different birds and insects, and more. Franklin was very intuitive and able to find animals during all parts of the tour. Activities we did during the tour include a jungle canopy walk, jungle night walk, zip-lining, a trip to monkey island, a canoe trip around lake Sandoval, Nighttime caiman spotting, a trip to the clay lick, kayaking on the Rio Madre de Dios, and a few more. The property that the lodge itself is on is beautiful and secluded from the city of Puerto Maldonado. The coordination and communication was very clear - the agency was great about coordinating rides to and from the airport, as well as the boat to the lodge. A few things worth noting before booking: -we were here in early September and it was HOT. Temperatures reached nearly 100F during the day and it was humid throughout the entire stay. -there is no air conditioning or fans in the cabanas. There are fans in the main lodge that can be used during meal times. -there is only power in the cabanas for a few hours at night to charge your phones. -the food served at the lodge represents what people native to the area eat. We found the food to be good, but don’t expect food from home. -there is access to clean drinking water at the lodge. All in all, if you’re looking to experience the jungle with a few of the comforts of home, and are willing to brave the heat and sacrifice some of the “creature comforts” we’re used to, this is the tour for you. We’re very grateful to have had this experience and to have had Franklin as our guide.Written September 20, 2024
- williamkristianc0 contributionsFabulous train journeyWe actually went Puno to Cusco. Really enjoyed the 11 hr journey. Beautiful train with comfy armchairs to sit in for the journey. Food was really good. Live band and dancers in the bar carriage, so you get the choice whether you want to listen to them! We all enjoyed the show though, although its a slightly surreal spectacle. The views of the countryside from the train are pretty spectacular too. Provided a relaxing day, after many hotel moves and early starts to see the various sites on offer around Peru. Highly recommend it if it fits into your itinery.Written July 28, 2024
- alexdE6406YA0 contributionsPoor management but lots of activitiesThe tour guides were arrogant and sometimes rude, they were quite short, abrupt and not very friendly. Treated like a tourist in a revolving door of tourists, very impersonal with a constant change of guides. Lots of activities which was great, but the timings and order were not as advertised. However, we had little free/dead time and we're constantly doing activities.Written June 10, 2024
- loreamg0 contributionsGreat tourThe tour was awesome. Franklin is the best guide for this tour. I really like it, worths the time and money. Anything bad to say.Written October 19, 2023
- Nicole S0 contributionsDisappointmentWe went on a tour with PV Travel on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this tour operator at all. The tour was poorly organised, the tour guide did her own thing and so the individual stops were just ticked off. You could hardly take a good look at them because the time was too short. The tour guide simply left us standing after a visit to the toilet and we didn't find the group again. Only after a while did she turn up again in the village. This is beyond weak. We noted this to get your guide and all that came back was that we were lost. I have done many tours, but this was the worst. Therefore, no recommendation from me.Written April 13, 2023
- Anh N0 contributionsTerrible experience in Paracas, Peru. I only received assistance after I complained to GetYourGuide.Avoid if you can!! I booked the “From Paracas: Mini Buggy Tour & Sandboarding at Laguna Moron” experience on GetYourGuide and someone named Luciana reached out to ask if I could do a 3PM time slot instead because of the lack of tourists in the morning. I told them I was fine with it. Then I never heard back. I tried texting and calling. Then I filed a complaint with GetYourGuide and then guess what? Luciana reached out to me to offer a 3:40PM time slot AFTER I filed a complaint. This was very unprofessional and seemed like a scam. GYG is providing a refund for this matter. I can only wonder what would have happened if I said nothing.Written March 14, 2023
- Brown3920 contributionsAmazing experience, would highly recommend! This was one of the best experiences of my trip in South America! Our guide was called Franklin. He was amazing, so knowledgeable, considerate and the best guide to have. He really made our experience so much better and I can’t thank him enough. The activities were all great, it was a great pace and amazing to get to see the nature and animals in their natural habitat. The accommodation and food was great. Met some amazing people and made memories of a lifetime.Written November 24, 2022
- tinat7800 contributionsVery relaxing, worth the splurge. This was part of our itinerary booked by our travel company. When I saw a 10 hour train ride I thought “ oh no”: However this turned out to be a totally relaxing day in the middle of s very busy trip. Our guide brought us to the station where you are escorted to a very nice VIP lounge with coffee and tea available. Each party is escorted directly to your seats which were very comfortable with a table and lamp in the center. Restrooms in each car nicer than any Amtrak. Breakfast and lunch available by menu are extra. They were easily able to accommodate my need for gluten free foods and brought a basket of delicious moist gluten free bread. At lunch the 3 choices were not gluten free and they offered to prepare something for me. I declined having had a large breakfast. Tea service included. Entertainment during the ride snd nice big windows to watch the country roll by. Got to nap, read etc. Think Orient Express.Written November 9, 2022
- Steffi O0 contributionsA long but great dayA full day tour of Colca Canyon booked with PV Travels. Bus picked us up at 3am from our hotel. Was a long day but well worth it - the condors were amazing.Written October 23, 2022
- Steffi O0 contributionsFantastic (long) dayLeft our hotel at 3am to do the full Colca Canyon tour from Arequipa. Nice tour full of Peruvians but guide explained it all in English as well. Stopped for traditional breakfast. Inca terraces everywhere in the Canyon. Stopped at a church close to Chivay on the way for a coffee and some photos with Alpacas. Stopped to see the condors. Guides know exactly when to come and see them. We saw 4 or 5 and got great photos. Majestic birds! Ate cactus and pisco sour made from it. You can choose various activities such as horse back riding. We chose the thermal baths. Was busy but nice to relax. Stopped at 16K feet to see a range of mountains - very impressive.Written October 23, 2022
- Mathias_Roelands2020 contributionsGreat Experience and a great guide, a jungle tour to never forgetHi all, Through this review I would like to appreciate and give compliments to one of the guides: Louis. He was an amazing guide who told passionately about his job, the jungle, local customs and everything else on the trip. Louis was constantly on the look-out for everything our group needed during those days. And we appreciated that. In the end we had a great experience and a lot can be credited to his guidance.Written October 21, 2022
- eloratung0 contributions4D/3N Tambopata Amazon JungleOur trip to the jungle was absolutely amazing. Our tour guide Bryan was incredible. He tailored our tour to fit our interests and kept us engaged the entire trip. Bryan’s passion for the people, the land, and the animals was very inspiring. He was able to locate and identify spectacular and somewhat elusive wildlife. He certainly had a knack for identifying bird calls! Some highlights include seeing blue and yellow macaws, capybaras, a toucan, a king vulture (jungle condor), and even a Jaguarundi! None of these experiences would have been possible without Bryan’s expertise. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the guides, kitchen staff, administrative staff, groundskeepers, boat drivers, and taxi drivers that we encountered.Written October 13, 2022
- viggy190 contributionsA must see in PeruVery important - it's 5 stars ONLY if you do not have to do the line-up to board the boat. Depending on which hotel you are staying or from where you pay the tour, please try and avoid the lineup. For the rest, the trip is absolutely 💯 worth it.Written October 1, 2022
- pedrov7420 contributionsGood tour, but better for Summer or morning. They did not picked us from the hotel, but they remedy the mishap it by catching up with the bus. Also, keep an eye on what you paid; they charged us extra money for some items we paid, and they could not reimburse since we did not have a receipt. We missed some spots like the Molino of Sabandia because we were late (Winter weather), and they would not reimburse. It seems to be a pattern on this pre-paid tours. Travelers could dispute, but ... Still, the remaining experience was great.Written August 1, 2022
- EtanS120 contributionsTerrible Customer ServiceThe customer service is awful. We notified the company 45 days in advance of the tour to make arrangements to change the dates or get a refund since our flights changed. The company told me once it's booked nothing can be done and pointed me to there "no refund" page. It seems they just want to keep our money regardless of a situation outside the customers control with significant advance notice.Written July 24, 2022

This was a full day and really enjoyable. Our guide Jimmy was really helpful and considerate of the English and Spanish languages. The tour is a great chance to see Inca agricultural, royal residence, food storage, and Peruvian textiles.
