After two hour, we arrived at the train station. Upon arriving by train, our guide, Gregory, was there to escort us to a restaurant for lunch. After lunch we met him at the bus stop for Machu Picchu. Once we reached destination, Gregory guided us through Circuit 2. He was very knowledgeable, patience and a very good photographer. - 408taylam0 contributionsSuper Supportive GuideAlex was an incredible guide—extremely knowledgeable and genuinely helpful throughout our journey to Rainbow Mountain. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We started with a well-planned breakfast break to break up the long drive, and then we hiked to the summit at our own pace. Alex was patient and supportive, staying behind with those of us who took it slower, ensuring no one felt rushed. His expertise and encouragement made the trek even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Alex to anyone visiting Rainbow Mountain—he’s the perfect guide for an unforgettable adventure!Written March 20, 2025

- Le T0 contributionsBest trip ever.We had an amazing 6-day group tour with Kantu Tours, exploring Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain, and Machu Picchu. Cristian was our main guide for 4 days, Harold covered the Machu Picchu walk, and Javier led us to the wetlands. They were all incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, making the entire experience both enjoyable and educational. The drivers, Wilson, Eddie et al, were safe, attentive, and ensured we were comfortable throughout the trip. Our accommodations, which included breakfast, were good. While the wetlands visit was a bit underwhelming, Javier quickly turned things around by adding Tipon to the itinerary, which was a fantastic addition. Overall, a well-organized and unforgettable experience! Highly recommend!Written March 20, 2025
- carolinan6660 contributionsGreat Experience at VinikunkaThis trip is so convenient and we had a great experience. We hiked 4 kilometers to the top of Vinikunka and were able to see the 7 color mountain and scenery is breathtaking!! Well worth it! Our guide Wally was amazing! He kept an eye on us the whole time making sure we were doing good cause of the altitude of the mountain. The price of the tour was real good compared to other agencies. Highly recommended!Written March 19, 2025
- Michelle R0 contributionsWilbur was a great guide! He explained things and made sure everyone was taken care of! It was a beautiful experience! Our family would definitely recommend this excursion! The bus ride was 3 hrs, breakfast was ready as soon as we got there. It was delicious! Some people started the hike. We rode the horses(extra money) up to lake 1. We waited for the group and hiked the rest of the lakes. The horses were waiting for us at lake 7! Once all of our group got back we ate lunch. There were 4 choices for lunch. (Drinks cost extra). After lunch we loaded the bus and rode back the 3 hours. Our guide Wilbur did great providing explanations in English and Spanish.Written March 19, 2025
- AleksisP0 contributionsThe Vinicunca the most challenging and the most rewarding hikeThe trip was amazing! It was possibly my the most challenging and the most rewarding hike of all times. I had had very little time to acclimitize myself to the 5000m altitude and couldn’t see myself making it to the top of the mountain, but somehow our guide Alex got me to go a bit further until I was there. Thank you!Written March 19, 2025

The tour lasts all day. Therefore, due to the distance from Cusco to the lake, there is a long way there and back by van. For those who have little time and will be staying in Cusco, this is the best tour option. The Chullos Travel team picked us up at the hotel at 4am (which is necessary for the schedules to fit together in the best way) and dropped us off at a central point in Cusco around 6pm. On the way there we stopped for breakfast (already included in the package). Upon arrival near the lake, Heber (our guide) gave all the necessary instructions about the climb. It is a difficult climb, both due to muscular and cardiovascular work, and due to respiratory difficulties related to altitude sickness. There is the option of taking horses for 80 soles (cheaper later in the walk) that go up very close to the lake, approximately a 5-minute walk to the end of the trail. The arrival is perfect, a work of art by nature. At that moment, all the effort is worth it. We stayed at the lake for about an hour to rest, take photos and have explanations about the place. The descent cannot be done with horses, but it is much easier than the ascent. On the way back we had lunch and arrived in Cusco. We had an incredible experience with the Heber Forever group!

Our hike to Lake Humantay was an incredible experience, and Wally made it even better. Everything was well-organized from start to finish. The transportation was comfortable and on time, and we started the day with a good breakfast to fuel the hike.
Wally was a knowledgeable and supportive guide, sharing interesting facts about the area and keeping a great pace for the group. The hike itself was challenging but absolutely worth it—the views of the lake were stunning. Wally made sure everyone felt comfortable and had time to enjoy the scenery.
After the hike, we had a delicious and filling lunch, the perfect way to wrap up the day. If you’re considering hiking to Lake Humantay, I highly recommend going with Wally. The whole experience was smooth, well-planned, and definitely worth it!

The trek was difficult but our guide Heber Forever helped with his magical “condor pee”, which seems to be a mix of Peruvian flowers and alcohol which you rub on your hands and inhale to open up your airways. Walking stick also came in handy. Overall the tour was very good value for money with breakfast, lunch and 6 hours of driving in a mini van. The drive goes through some very steep bendy tracks, but never felt unsafe with the driver who was very careful. Heber knew all the history of the lake and all the best spots and techniques for photos, and he made the experience memorable with his wit. Totally worth it!

I could not recommend this tour more. Our group had been separated due to separate bookings and Wally made sure that we were all together in the same group by taking in extra group members so we could be together. We stopped at the most beautiful lookout place for breakfast and lunch, the views were incredible! Wally made the sacred offering very special and meaningful, took wonderful pictures of our group in front of the beautiful lake, and explained so many interesting aspects of the lake to us. Wally made this experience unforgettable and our experience definitely would not have been the same without him. He helped us take horses up to the top because we were worried about the altitude, it was 80 soles and so worth it, it was surreal! We enjoyed this tour and loved Wally so much we booked rainbow mountain with him for the next day. 10/10 recommend Wally for Lake Humantay!!!

I was part of a group tour to Humantay Lake led by Heber Forever and it was a fantastic time with him and the group. Heber was a first rate guide keeping things on schedule and running smoothly while attending to every need of each person in the group. He was kind and attentive guide that made sure we were safe and comfortable throughout our journey to, up to the Lake, and back to Cusco. Not to mention the driver was also very professional and safe. Heber is a great guide who I would highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting Humantay Lake since he’s professional, friendly, and all around someone who will make it a better experience for everyone under his care.

We loved the experience, our guide Ghilton was attentive to us the entire time and helped us all along the way so that we did not get overly tired. The first part of the walk was with little slope, and even then we went little by little in stages so that the whole group remained together. In the second part, which was the most demanding climb, Ghilton helped us rent horses that made the climb much more pleasant and highly recommended. When we arrived at the Lagoon it seemed incredible to us. A natural beauty that is waiting for you to enjoy it with your camera... The whole group did an Apacheta to thank the ancestral Inca gods for allowing us to be there. Once again Ghilton told us beautiful stories about the place. On the way down he was attentive to us the entire time and made the experience unforgettable. Thank you!!!

We had an unforgettable experience with our guide EVER FOREVER! I thought the road would be more difficult but with only 80 soles I was able to rent a horse. The horses look well fed and very healthy and beautiful. Ever forever was an excellent guide. He was attentive to our questions and gave us a lot of interesting information about this beautiful place. The day started very early but they picked us up from our hotel and we were a group of 18 people - the transportation was very comfortable and pleasant, I rested the entire way. They took us to a restaurant called salkantay where we had breakfast with a beautiful view. Breakfast and lunch were included. I recommend this experience to people of all ages and physical conditions. In our group there were people aged 25-66 and no one had difficulty with height.

The tour guide Nilton is very lively and attentive. He will take photos for each group of families and tell stories about the lake and nearby mountains at the lakeside. Everyone prays for safety together. The pick-up service was on time and we were contacted one day in advance. The breakfast and lunch were also delicious. Highly recommended.

The tour was amazing. Our Guide HEBER FOREVER was responsible for this experience, took several photos of us, explained the history of the Humantay Lagoon and accompanied us throughout the trail, concerned for our well-being. The van picked us up in the airbnb and we had lunch and breakfast. I highly recommend it!
