  • The climate in our country is very variant and does not consider the normal 4 seasons. Here, in just one day we can see all of the seasons! And this is why we recommend our visitors to be prepared for any occasion, either for rain or sunny days.
  • A very important factor which alter our world is global warming, which has evolved into a high risky contributor due to the glaciers melting in Peruvian Andes, and it also affect the normal development of our weather.
  • Nonetheless, something that is very marked in our country and in some cities here in the Andes is that we only have 2 main seasons during the year:
  • Dry Season: We consider the dry season from the end of April until the end of September, in this period the first rains will start. For this reason, this is the best time to visit our region and our amazing Machu Picchu and also avoid any inconveniences.
  • Rainy Season: This season starts on October until the end of April approximately, so during this time it is advised to all of our visitors to pack their belongings into waterproof bags, as in our region it can be sunny the first 2 hours and then have a heavy rain.
  • We know that there are extreme climates worldwide, but this must not stop us from our longing and desire to explore the world, to discover marvelous cultures and interact with them. Be welcomed to Perú and Machu Picchu.
  • This mountain is located inside Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, which is located at 300 meters more than Machu Picchu Inca Citadel; here it takes approximately just 45 minutes hiking up and other 45 minutes hiking down. This Mountain conserves some archaeological remains as the Moon Temple and other precincts that are interconnected with authentic trails, steps, tunnels and natural formatted caves which made the view more interesting. Without any doubt, this is one of the best attractions of Machu Picchu; the Huayna Picchu Mountain offers a 360 grades view and a stunning view of Machu Picchu Inca Citadel, Machu Picchu
  • Mountain and the famous Sun Gate (Inti Punku). Currently our government through Ministry of Culture, maintain the visitors income controlled per day, only 400 tickets are offered per day and divided in 2 groups of 200 each. The first schedule starts from 7:00 to 08:00 am and the second from 10:00 to 11:00 am, for this reason its demand is growing day by day and if any of our visitors is interested in this hike, then it is necessary to make a booking at least with 3 months in advance in order to guarantee their visit to this extraordinary place.
  • This mountain is located inside the park as well, and is only 1:20 hrs away hiking by your own. Once you reach the summit, you will take impressive photos with panoramic views of the entire valley in which is situated Machu Picchu inca citadel, you will also have impressive views of the Andes Mountain range and the glaciers that protect this unique ecosystem.
  • The demand to obtain permits for this hike is quickly growing up, for this we advise a minimum of 2 months in advance to book the tickets, as there is a limit for visitors per day to experience this amazing hike. This hike has 2 schedules, the first from 07:00 am to 08:00 am and the second from 09:00 am to 10:00 am with a limit of 200 people per group.

We did 2 excursions with Kenko Adventures:
- 2 day Ica Trail hike (1 day hike from KM104 with night in Aguas Caliente, visit to Machu Picchu and return via Vistadome train)
- Rainbow Mountain

Inca trail: excellent
Guide: Elvis
The hike is fairly demanding. Elvis paced us very well, allowing some to go a bit faster while keeping the group together. He is very knowldgeable, speaks english very well and all around pleasant. Elvis took pictures for us and helped in anyway he could. We arrived at Machu Picchu at 4:15pm when all the other visitors had left and the view was excellent. The hotel in Aguas Calientes was fine and so was dinner. Next day: we went back up to Machu Picchu and Elvis gave us a guided tour which was very informative. By that time, other visitors were pouring in. We went up Wayna Picchu; fairly arduous hike again. Elvis was helpful every step of the way. We returned, had lunch and returned to Ollantaytambo by train and from Ollantaytambo to Cusco by minibus.
Overall: excellent excursion. I strongly recommend Kenko Adevnture and Elvis

Painted Mountains:
Early departure for a nearly 3 hr drive to the "base" at 15k feet (breakfast included along the way). The road is quite nice but once we left the main road and towards the Painted Mountains, we crossed interesting villages along the way.
Our guide was Grober. Once we arrived at the "base" we found out that altitude was quite a challenge as we needed to walk up to over 16,5k ft elevation.
Grober helped secure horses for us to do most of the walk - leaving only the final climb to be done by foot. He helped with pictures, navigating the crowds and pacing us throughout the day. He also explained about local culture and archeology of the site. We returned after 1:30pm, stopped for lunch (included) and back to Cusco.
Overall: excellent day. Grober was great all around.

Kenko Adventures' 2 day excursion to Machu Picchu was the perfect way for my friends and I to experience one of the world wonders during our short stay in Peru. We were taken care of the whole way through the process from my inquiry about the tour to the last drop off. You honestly do not have to worry about much once they pick you up to begin the tour.

Elvis provided quick answers to my questions and followed up with anything else we needed to know. Going into this I was a little unsure about booking because this was my first international trip but after the experience I can definitively say this was one of the best things I've done in my life.

Our tour guide for the Inca trail was David and he was fantastic! He knew so much and gave us in-depth explanations of the history of the trail and ruins we visited. David also knew about every plant we pointed out plus provided information on the endemic animals. He was also a great photographer! David is a great tour guide and any group would be lucky to have him.

The Inca Trail should not be underestimated though so travelers please prepare with acetazolamide, coca leaves/candy, and hydration. But know even if you do prep with those items that the hike will still be difficult but doable if you prep your body and wear appropriate gear.

The sites you see on this trail are some you will keep with you forever. I would highly recommend choosing this activity if you are short on time and want a wholesome tour of the Inca Trail & Machu Picchu.

My family of 5, including 3 teenagers, had an excellent experience with Kenko Adventures and our tour guide David during our truly memorable Machu Picchu 2 day experience. Communication and bookings went unbelieveably smoothly online months prior to the tour - they were very efficient and professional throughout. David met us at our hotel the day prior to our tour and explained our itinerary in detail to begin our early morning adventure. We were met promptly early morning for private van transport from our Cuzco hotel to Ollyantaytambo where we boarded our scenic train to the infamous Kilometer 104 of the Inca Trail. From there we began our journey and David was encouraging and fully informative all the way. It was good to know that he had studied tourism in University and could share so much history with us. His 12 years of experience as a guide wase easily apparent and he kept us all going, encouraging each one at his own pace. The following day, after we all celebrated our accomplishments at dinner in Aguas Calientes, David guided us through an early morning 2.5 hour personal tour of the ruins. The experience was truly epic and David and Kenko Adventures surely made it so. Highly recommend this company, their trusted guides and their services! We also did the memorable Sacred Valley Tour the following day! A must!

We just returned from Peru and did the 2 day Machu Picchu tour with Elvis. Right from the time of booking Elvis was professional and prompt answering all of our questions even calling us beforehand to go over our itinerary. We had an unforgettable 2 days and he took care of everything. We didn’t have to worry about a single thing. He was so knowledgeable, he could answer every question of ours and spoke perfect English. He even made sure we got great photos at the correct spots.Definitely the best tour guide I ever had and I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Peru.

I did a solo 2 day short Inca trail in June 2022. It was an amazing experience, and perfect for those who want to do the Inca trail but don't have enough time for the traditional four day hike. Very happy with my experience, made stress-free by the well organised tour.

The day before the first trip, my guide Elvis met me at my hotel to explain everything I needed to prepare for the tour. On the first day, the private transport arrived on time to take me to the start of the hike and provide me with lunch. The first day hike was not too difficult, made easier by Elvis who made sure we kept a pace that was comfortable for me. Along the hike, Elvis explained the history of the Inca trail, the historical sites, and Incan society. At the end of the day, we reached Machu Picchu where Elvis found a quiet spot to take stunning photos.

After staying overnight in a 3 star hotel in Aguas Calientes (which was included in the tour), Elvis took me back to Machu Picchu and gave a detailed tour. I then went and climbed Huayna Picchu, which needs to be organised several months in advance due to limited tickets.

Best part? Elvis is an excellent photographer! He knew all the best places and angles to take photos. All in all, a well organised trip at great value compared to other tours.

We had a fantastic time on our trek. Our guide Grober met us the evening before and prepped us for the trip. He was very helpful throughout the trek, pacing the walk perfectly and was full of knowledge not just about the history but also the local fauna and flora (so many orchids!). Grober was fantastic and it was great to have the insight of a local (he seemed to know everyone of the locals and park rangers we passed!). We were both really happy with our trip with Kenko and would thoroughly recommend them to other travelers.

Highly recommend our guide Elvis and Kenko Adventures. This was an experience of a life time. Elvis is so knowledgeable about the Incas and Machu Picchu and shares this information with you. I am a slow hiker, in my 60's, so I was a little concerned about my ability to do this hike. Elvis helped me all along the way, he knew the trail every step of the way and paced us so that we arrived at the end of the day with the wonderful view of Machu Picchu after all the other tourist had left. He made sure we had what we needed when we needed it so that there were no bad surprises. Also, we were a small group of just 5 people, so we got a lot of personalized attention. The trip included a 3 star hotel in Agus Calientes and the deluxe train ride on the way back to Cusco. The communication is great before the trip as well.

We’ve just completed the 2 day Inca Trail with Kenko and it was fantastic, well worth the money. Our guide Elvis was full of knowledge and knew all the best photo spots, plus he’s a great photographer!

We really enjoyed the pace of the hike and all the stops, the best part of this 2 day itinerary is getting to see Machu Picchu twice - doubling your chances for good weather!

The packed lunch is really good, as well as the evening and morning meals. As a vegetarian I was really impressed with the options for food. Our hotel in Aguas Calientes was also lovely, really nice rooms and a good location. Can’t fault this at all, would recommend booking with Kenko.

I booked the trip wtih Kenko Adventures because of the excellent reviews and I was not disappointed. The trip was planned well in advance and from the very beginning Elvis answered all my questions immediately whatever the time of the day and nothing was too much trouble for him. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the Short Inca Trail because my daughter was not feeling well, so at the last minute I had to change our plans. We still did Machu Picchu and climbed the Huayna Picchu. Elvis was very accommodating and able to cater to our needs without any complaints and aslo upgraded our train ride, which was very kind of him.

The whole tour was incredible and everything was smoothly and professionally run. Elvis had excellent knowledge of the Inca culture and it was very interesting to learn about their civilisation and the ruins. He is also an excellent photographer so we have picture postcard photos, which will be a memory to treasure forever. Attention to detail was very good and I have nothing but praise for Elvis and his team. They went above and beyond their call of duty.

I highly recommend Kenko Adventures and they deserve to be number 1. I wish them all the very best and thank you so much to Elvis foremost and also his driver for making this a truly memorable experience.

We had an absolutely incredible time with Kenko Adventures. Our guide Elvis was extremely knowledgeable, methodical, and caring. Every step of the way was planned out and taken care of — he even had the exact amount of water we would need down to a tee. He also paced the trek really well and helped people along who need extra assistance or time. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do the short Inca trail!
