The mountain of seven colors or Mountain Rainbow (Rainbow Mountain) or better known by the locals as cerro Colorado, is located in Vinicunca, province of Quispicanchis, about 100 km from the city of Cusco.
Its geological formations reveal all its splendor, in contrast to the blue sky forming a formidable bar between the desert of the coast and the Amazon jungle, dominated by the beautiful snowy Ausangate (6384m) one of the grandiose apus of this region.
The altitude of the mountain is approximately 5000msnm. It is located in the district of Pitumarca (In the province of Canchis – region of Cusco, in the south of the country) Ausangate is considered the most important mountain of the Andean worldview.
The simple act of walking and desfrutar of a landscape and enjoy nature of a mountain or any natural setting, is something that makes you feel alive and close to the earth, the mountain of Vinicunca also known (MOUNTAIN COLOR) provides a combination of colors that you can hardly see elsewhere in the world.
Pick up from hotel 4:30 a.m. – 5:00 am we went with our transportation to the community PITUMARCA tarmac road for approximately 2:30 hours, then continue by road for about 45 minutes to reach the point (POINT ROAD) where our trek begins , After releasing the legs and have a little breakfast, we begin our walk towards the mountain of colors. For a time of about 3:30 hours, the route is moderate; lasts approximately 6:30 am and arrived at a height 5,029 meters above sea level the highest point hike where we will stay for 20 to 30 minutes to take the best pictures, the mountains, descending, we can see two small lagoons at the site can be seen flora and fauna in their natural habitat. (Llamas, alpacas, vicunas, etc.).
