Chef Jesus shared his culinary expertise and the history of his dishes and Peruvian culture making this cooking class much more than “food”. His effortless approach and skillful teaching put everyone at ease, creating a shared experience unlike others I’ve experienced. As a solo traveler, I felt part of the group immediately. Chef Jesus is warm and generous. Highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the culture, food, and warmth of the Peruvian culture.

Jesus met me at the market which was awesome. He taught me about different fruits and we tasted a few things, he also helped me negotiate the purchase of some gifts and some snacks for my Inca trail hike. We also visited the Guinea pig section which was an adventure in itself. Afterwards we safely walked back to the kitchen studio and made pisco sours, which were amazing and I picked up a bottle of pisco at duty free on my way home and have made it at dinner parties in Canada now, a big hit! Then we made a bunch of food which I was able to try. It was overall a great experience and worth the money, even just the cost alone for eating at a nice restaurant with drinks would have been about the same price plus you get the tour and experience. Jesus also answered hundreds of my questions and it was an amazing glimpse into Peruvian life, culture and food. Jesus has also been amazing at staying in touch while I’m back in Canada and could provide recipes or guidance if you forget a step trying to make your recipes back at home. Highly recommend this adventure, and a must do if you are a foodie.

I took a market tour and cooking class with Chef Jesus in April 2022. I met him and a few other people taking the same class as me at the San Pedro Central Market at 3pm.

Jesus then walked our group through the market, talking about the different types of produce, grains, and foods that can be found in Peru. We also got to sample some of the produce and cheeses that Jesus talked to us about.

After the market tour, Jesus took us to his cooking studio a few blocks away, where we used the produce we bought at the market to make ceviche, pisco sours, a quinoa risotto, a cheesy potato gratin, and a fruit based dessert.

Overall, this tour was well worth the money and I would recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in cooking or food!

I have written hundreds of reviews on trip advisor and believe in the power of feedback; I do hope this is helpful for you.

We met up with Chef Jesus at the market. He was 5 minutes early and was ready to give us a personalized tour of the market. Chef took his time showing us around and educating us about all the local ingredients available in Cusco. There was no rush and he took time to answer all our questions.

Chef then walked us back to their kitchen, which was open and modern and very clean.

Chef took his time and taught us how to make a Pisco Sour from scratch (using real fruit) and then teaching us 3 dishes plus a dessert.

The food was excellent and the fruit dessert we made using mainly fresh fruits and some milk and sugar was one of the best desserts my wife and I ever had.

Chef was professional, polite, entertaining at times and very personable.

What a great day! We highly recommend this experience!

Thank you, Chef Jesus for your hospitality, professionalism and charm… and the food was delicious!!!

We were a bit wary of a market tour and cooking class, as we had already visited the market and done a cooking class on our trek out of Cusco. We are SO. GLAD. we reconsidered. Jesus is funny, patient, professional, and warm and friendly. He took so much time answering all our questions and letting us practice our Spanish. He helped us find gooseberries and buy the perfect "salt" gifts to bring home. When it was suddenly drizzling on the way to the studio, he popped us into cabs so we wouldn't get soaked with the groceries. We made the most delicious drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), the types of ceviches were amazing and presented like we were in a 5 star restaurant (tasting spoons, accoutrements, etc.), the main dishes were delicious and unexpected (quinoa tamales!), and the fruit composition for dessert was outstanding. We loved this class and the whole experience and highly recommend!

This was beautiful, very organized and tasty 5 course dinner. I just happened to be the only participant in the class. Therefore, it was superb luxury private cooking lesson for me.
Jesus met me at the Cusco market abs gave me 45 minutes tour of it. We went over various selling stands as he told me about spices, history of veggies and fruits, grains and root veggies. We even tasted a Cusco chocolate which was absolutely delicious. I tried white and this is not your typical American white chocolate. Must try!
The cooking kitchen is located about 15-20 min walk from the market. It’s beautiful, clean and has everything for a chef to equip you to have amazing learning experience. I had the best time.
Jesus was very kind and through in his explanation while making sure I feel relaxed and having fun. We made pinco sour ( my very first cocktail drink) no alcohol version, 3 kind ceviche, a quinoa risotto, potato and cheese tartare with beautiful crème souse and a fruit desert - all natural organic ingredients and all absolutely available for me to buy again in states to replicate this beautiful dishes.
As sole traveler, I felt very safe and secure.
This was amazing experience. Thank you Jesus.

This was an excellent culinary experience led by Chef Jesus. The food we ate was of such a high quality, with the ingredients fresh from the day as you go and pick them up from the San Pedro market. The market itself is an experience - I was stunned to see the variety of fruit and veg available. It’s also surprisingly clean and organised for a local market.
Then we went to the cooking studio which is a lovely lovely space. Chef Jesus was assisted by Ana who kindly helped maintain the space clean at all times - she was wiping surfaces as we went along. She also helped with all the chopping. The food and drinks we made were delicious! I learnt a lot about local ingredients, a lot of which don’t exist outside Peru. Chef Jesus is a very bubbly guy, happy to help and made us enjoy this cooking experience in Cusco - can’t recommend it enough!

We spent an incredible 5 hours with Jesus, cooking up a wonderful Peruvian cuisine. He spent about an hour in the San Pedro market talking with us not only about what we would be cooking but answering our questions about Peru’s food scene and what makes it special. We then walked to his kitchen and made delicious Pisco Sours, ceviche, potatoes casserole and plenty more. Jesus was funny, personable and you can tell he loves what he does. We would highly recommend this experience while in Peru! Thank you Jesus!

A friend and I did the cooking class and market tour with Jesus and it was awesome. A market tour and cooking class is a great way to introduce yourself to Peru's unique gastronomy and Jesus does an excellent job in making it fun and interesting. I would definitely recommend this over just going to a restaurant - it is very interactive and you get to try several dishes.

We had a great time exploring San Pedro Market with Jesus - it can be a little overwhelming to venture in on your own, so we appreciated him sharing a lay of the land and his favorite vendors. We were able to watch Jesus as he picked up the ingredients we needed for our cooking class and taught us about the native produce of Peru. Once we got back to the kitchen for our cooking class, Jesus and his team made sure that all levels were comfortable with each recipe and everything turned out to be delicious. Would absolutely recommend as a fun way to learn about the culture and cuisine of the country!
